I wish they would just give up on trying to maker DS a thing. It was a failed idea from the start.
Just spend some time and come up with a better mechanic, maybe somthing necro related? Sure, such a drastic change will kitten alot of fanboys off at first. But the class will be better for it and in time everyone will come to proffer the new mechanic. Because lets face it, only the engi has a worse class mechanic (arguably) mainly because there class mechanic is the lack of a mechanic.
-sigh- Much like spore I had high hopes for gw2.
There are different ways to interpret the title.
For Example;
“Ranger (the word itself) does not mean archer.” Basicly saying that the words Ranger and Archer dont have the same meaning.
But another example:
“Ranger (the class in GW2) does not mean archer.” In this example it is stating that the Ranger class isnt a class that, while having access to several weapons both melee and ranged, focus on ranged weapons.
And therein lies the page after page of arguments.
People arguing the definition of the word against people arguing the role/focus/design of the class. With sprinkles of people who just like to argue.
I find the engi to be a poor condition user. Mainly because your unable to quickly stack bleeds and only burn and alot of bleeds do any real damage (Guess torment can kinda count now too but meh).
Iv long theorized that going hybrid with power and con would give you the most damage. Going only off the stats the flamethrower is mainly a power weapon thanks to skill2, but if you take traits to apply bleeds on crits and regularly switch to pistol for poison, you can have both con stacking and burst damage.
Tho thats just a theory, iv yet to actually try it out.
I hate the title. To answer it; I dont know, Do you? How are we supposed to know how you feel?
Was unable to view video, used a proxy.
Either this is staged or you spent alot of time finding some really bad players. they hardly move and dont even bother to attack half the time.

In GW2 Rangers are “Unparalleled Archers” it says it right there in the class description.
So yes Rangers == Archers.
We are still waiting on the “unparalleled” part.
What Menchi said, also; If you’re standing still and attack your cone will be at the target, even if that target is behind your camera. But the moment you move its back on the direction your camera is facing.
The “bug” part is that the flame graphic is a lie. they really really need to sync the two up. Your flame can be targeted at some guy to your far left and if your camera is aimed elsewhere you will damage any one you point at.
It would be neat to have deploy turrets work like the Perfect Dark laptop gun. I freaking loved that thing.
If the turret was able to be tossed in an unreachable location and still function, it would be an exploit. But tossing it up on a wall simply gets it out of the way. Any one can still target it with direct damage or aoe just as they would if it was on the ground.
If you did play as an engi you would know that deployable turrets is a must have trait if you want to use turrets otherwise they instantly die like 80% of the time.
Its obvious you don’t play the engi. I’m guessing your a melee glass cannon that roams WvW looking for easy kills and died to an engi that used turrets and CC to completely destroy you. Thats my guess anyway.
Rifle easy, Not only do the pistol skills look stupid they are also crappy, damage wise.
Its inability to quickly (or at all really) stack bleedings is a major problem.
I know alot of people like pistol (for the life of me I cant see why), it must be a play style thing.
I know grenades are really good, but I cant stand using them. So I never do.
I knowingly choose a weaker build because I find it more enjoyable. I assume its the same with people who use pistols.
Then add the engi’s pistol and it even has a slower attack speed and even less direct damage but still adds short lived bleeds.
Yes, been happening to me for a long while now. At least 2-3 months if not longer.
Maybe its just because I’m use to wings in games like Champions Online and others that the wings only flap when you jump and fly. When you are on the ground they fold up as you would expected wings to do.
Just 5 seconds previewing the wings and I knew the constant flapping would be annoying.
I started out as going to main a necro as a minion master, then that fell through pretty quickly. Kinda like when I found out that the Squig Herder in Warhammer online had a flock size of 1.
So I changed to my back up, the engineer. (just like I did in warhammer oddly enough) I like turrets and gadgets. And one day there will be a game where I can build up my own mini fortress. A lot of games claim this for the engineer class, none have really delivered tho. Except for maybe Global Agenda, you get a few engineers together and you have your self a legit fortress.
So in short, Im an engi because the necro sucks as a MM and I love turrets and drones.
I second taking the middle road.
You say you use pistol/shield but never actually use them. If you go knight/berserker may I suggest taking the rifle instead.
Once youv gained some mights from jugg, you can flame blast/detonate then switch to the rifle, to blunderbuss, and Overcharge shot. then stand up and net shot followed up near instantly with jump shot to get back in range (net shot so your jump doesnt miss) switch to flame for another flame blast/detonate seeing as the cooldown will be up after you go through all your rifle skills. This combo line will deal massive damage. Much more than just Flamethrowering while your waiting on your flameblast cooldown. And should help you overcome not going full berserker gear.
Tho iv only ever done it to NPCs, I have no idea how effective it would be against WvW players.
not a big thing but it bothers me.
Its $10.00 not $10,00 to be clear, its " . " not " ,"
We use the “.” to separate dollars from cents. Where as we use the"," as a point of reference for every hundredth place.
So with the “.” its ten dollars, but with the “,” its ten thousand dollars.
Ya ya, I know im nit-picked. And we all know what you mean.
It would be nice if they could get the flame and the camera to sync up.
I started my necro planning on it being my main at launch. at about level 20 or less I shelved it for another, the engineer of all things. Tho back then I had no idea I was going from bad to worse.
Luckily the engineer is at least fun to play, where the necro is not. And as long as a class is fun to play, you dont notice that the other classes are better, until you group. And I almost never group.
from then on my necro only leveled as a crafter and the few times I tried to play it again, quickly realizing why I left the necro to start with.
It took about 10 months or more, but my necro is finally level 80. I only use him to craft, get ori nodes and some times run a dungeon for the tokens if Iv already done all the paths with my other characters. Iv tried a few different built types, none of them where all that fun or effective.
Oh, and never pick human.
Several of the legendary skins are already designed for one class in particular.
The Pistol is clearly meant for the mesmer, shield for guardian, rifle for warrior., horn for hunter.
Then you have a few that are for 12 y/o girls, with all the flowers, rainbows and unicorns.
I can understand you wanting one that fits your character, as an engineer main, not only does the class not have a fitting legendary but if I was to waste the time and resources getting one. I wouldn’t even see it most of the time due to kits.
I find deployable turrets a mandatory trait if you are going to use turrets. So much so I feel it should come standard.
Its pretty much the only way to get the rifle and rocket turret to survive long enough to deal any damage, even if you dont deploy them on stuff, just placing them out of harms way helps. Sadly the other short ranged turrets are sol either way.
If your in a tunnel or other area with a low ceiling, you and toss your healing turret straight up and it will rain healing goodness over all. Same works for a wall the group is stacking near.
The only down side I constantly run into is you have to wait until the turret lands to use its over charge, and sense you cant watch the bundle slowly fly through the air while in a fight you often dont time it perfectly causing you to have to wait the 3 sec on healing turrets to get the waterfield, or your rocket turret only being able to fire 1 knockdown rocket.
It’s always interesting to see what other games do with this persona.
The toys for the engineer in one of the expansions of WoW were more useful they had a beam device that would heal siege equipment.
The Traps in the Arbiter tree of the Vanquisher class in Torchlight actually worked better than the turrets in this title, for one thing we could actually increase their damage significantly manually.
The mines and explosives from the Rift Rogue Saboteur class could set up three AOE explosions that would three shot most crowds end game when traited and geared properly.
The new Torchlight 2 engineer has bots that follow the engineer around and some cannot be attacked. I personally love the healbot, little guy gives me a heal every few seconds or so. They also have a temporary machine gun style bot that only can be summoned for about 2-3 minutes at a time. Does alot of single target damage.
I love engineers, Global Agenda’s Drones where fun to use and the turrets where powerful. Tho I hated constantly being facerolled by melee recons.
Front Lines: Fuel of War had awesome drones as well. I personally loved using the assault drone. That thing was so bad kitten . It was so bad kitten in fact that if you painted it yellow, it would be Tiny Tank. and iirc Tiny Tank also had his own drones… Man I love drones!
Make sure you have a stock of both food and that other stuff (icon of a wrench) to get the bonus exp. Use Exp Boosts and guild exp banners.
As far as to what to actually do. I find events give a nice amount of exp as well does personal story missions.
I have also gained a modest amount of exp from discovering new locations, points of interest and the like.
If you have the money, pop a craft booster and crafting can grant you several levels in a very short time.
I know several MMOs that grant you an exp bonus when in a party, tho I dont know if GW2 does that. I dont think they do.
BUT most importantly: have a mini out at all times!
I keep telling people in dungeons that my mini is the reason we do so well.
And that if you have a mini out you cant die.
I hope they know i’m joking around…
Sadly, I think the best answer we can give is “It just is”.
‘Shrug’
Don’t think they care, honestly.
Play enough mmos and you will realize this is true.
OP: Complains game is too easy, plays Easy Mode class.
Until they add more hard content for you to play, maybe try out an engineer that doesn’t use grenades or bombs?
Just seems fair that two handed weapons should beable to have two sigils on them.
Why should just the one handed weapon builds have access to two sigils?
If you are an engi that uses kits you almost always take the pistol plus an offhand just so you have access to two sigils instead of one with your grenades or flamethrower.
Seeing as the Power build with FT comes from Skill2 and the condition build uses Skill1. For the most damage it might be best to bring them both up together. Just focus on Power, pre and con.
Just dont forget to swtich to the pistol from time to time to apply some long lasting poison and a dash of confusion.
Skritt Race: Your “character” is 3 skritt grouped together. Think WC3’s Goblin Sapper.
Seeing as skritt get smarter the more that are around this makes sense to make your “character” smart enough to the various missions you undertake and such. Despite being 3 skritt you still work like a single character with a single hit bar, its just a visual thing. Like how the norn and asura look so massively different, but they both infact have the same melee range, jump height ect.
The armor would be spread among your skritt;
Skritt one would have the helmet and gloves.
Skritt two would have shoulder and body. (they kinda have to go together to work)
Skritt three would have pants and boots.
This gives the look that the skritt scavenged the gear and just put on what they found, again tying into the lore of the race.
However with the weapon each skritt gets there own. So if you have a skritt elem then each skritt would be holding their own staff. It would be nice if there was 3 attack animations where each skritt gets to attack/cast, then when you use an ability one of the animations are chosen at random. This is real important for ranged weapons. So that it doesnt feel like one skritt is fighting while the other 2 just stand there.
However chain attacks, such as those from melee #1 skills would probably always start off with one skritt attacking then the next and the next. In the same order every time. Seeing as the chain animation has to flow.
Some animations would require all 3 skritt to attack, such as whirl attacks and leap attacks.
Oh oh!! make the coin at the end based on the % of trash defeated.
Also nerf the kitten out of the trash so it doesnt take just as long to kill them as it does the boss.
Iv started a ranger, up to 30 now. And its alot of fun, so far he cleans up PvE pretty well and I use Longbow main, with Axe/torch alt.
I have a few problems, like “why is LongBow #2 just ShortBow #1 minus the bleed?” and I appear to just be SoL when both my pets die instantly to some boss.
But I main engineer so I know the class could be far worse.
Going from playing a lvl 25-30 ranger at southsun cove to playing a lvl 80 engi with all exotics and some ascended gear, was a nightmare. Its stupid how much better my ranger is.
I have tried going a few different builds for con, not so much on the engi, mainly because I find the engi pistol skills really stupid. Personal opinion, deal with it. They are fun when your solo roaming, but the moment you enter a group even of even a dungeon, your about worthless.
the way GW2 is designed, Direct damage is just plain better. You cant even argue otherwise.
I love seeing lots of little numbers over large ones, large numbers dont impress me. Its like a warrior with the twilight sword, so common place no one cares.

I personally dont understand the condition cap. Imagine if only the first 25 people to hit a boss (say Claw of Jormag) where the only people in the swarm of players allowed to deal any damage to it. These condition caps are the same thing. even worse for the non stacking ones like Burn, out of the swarm of players only 1 persons burn is actual dealing damage at a time.
How does that make any sense at all?
Just look for the enlarged border that shows you have a field active rather than a simple aoe effect.
aoe effects use a small border that kinda looks like a white flame. Field effects use a much larger border, maybe twice as tall if not more so, that you can see shapes floating upward in.
Look for that and you will know when your water field activated.
I should point out (as I dont see it any where else here) that GW #1 isnt exactly single target, it will damage enemies that are between you and your selected target.
When you use GS #2 at mid range the blade will bounce back to you granting you might. (Tho iv read there are some issues now that bounces can jump to clones).
While I try to stay with Sw/Sw for my mesmer in PvE (thats my build and im sticking with it) I do find a noticeable damage jump when I fall back and switch to GS. Which kinda makes me sad, but i understand. The swords are defensive weapons with block and evasion, just wish I didnt suffer from 1-2 sec delays on activating them 2 abilities.
As much as I would love to have one of them charr motorcycles, its never going to happen.
MY- MY EYES!!! THEY BLEED!
Apart from the wall-o-text, I like what you all are saying. Very helpful information, indeed. I’m going to have to step back and redesign this guy.
Thanks.
Make it instant teleport, double recharge time.
Would be nice to have an escape tool.
A very limited and situational escape tool if it’s a target spell.
indeed, some how I added the words “ground target” when I read that.
Make it instant teleport, double recharge time.
Would be nice to have an escape tool.
Thats the point of this topic exactly?
Thanks, the video and the math behind healing is really showing me how pointless trying to be a necro healer is.
The video was great as showing that, he was more focused on healing than I am and his healing amount was not impressive. Despite him talking it up the entire time.
Maybe i’ll try a tanky necro that lives off syphan health. Now that I know it doesnt scale I can freely stack on the vit and toughness.
Edit: Hmm… So my problem is I’m too busy trying to stack bleeding with the scepter when I should be focusing solely on healing. I have Cond>Healing when I need Healing>Cond. I did want a different play style than what I’m use to. But the low healing numbers still has me wondering if its worth it.

Sentient beings have free will, and part of free will is the ability to like or dislike something or someone for any reason or lack of reason.
If John Doe over here doesnt like someone based solely on the ethnicity of that person, thats ok, He is allowed to.
The day when we can no longer have a personal opinion about others is the day we lose our free will.
Wakfu used emotes as rewards for exploration, hiding them in secret locations. Most where basic stuff but some, like punch, allowed you to interact with other players.
There was even a butt slap emote. When used from the front of another player kinda looked like something else.
Hey, im trying out an idea to mix up my gameplay a bit. I dont have all the gear yet, but so far its seem pretty bad. My main goal is a kind of support Dungeon build.
This is what I got so far.
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fQUQNArYWjEap7lbKb07JApCPP9o7tJP6BxHnMA-jAzAItAi4goFgUFAaDU+TaMPKkWLLiGr2M1qVhIHSq9KCRA-e
I’m having a hard time picking out utilities I find useful for this.
This kind of build is very different than how I usually play. I often go for a more self reliant build. So a support build is very different. I also havent played the necro for long enough to really get familiar with all the traits and utility combos. The necro was the first class I started at launch and only recently was able to drag his but to level 80. I just dont connect with it like some other classes.
Any advice or suggested changes would help greatly, as I have little idea what im doing.
Or if this is just a bad idea, let me know.
If supply create is one of the stronger elites of the game then the game has some pretty kitten poor elites.
Most of the time its a stun on drop and some bandages on the ground, the turrets tend to get instant gibbed by aoe.
and I like to spam the 2 skill in that so the stuff near me is mostly blinded and can’t hit me or my friends.
It could just be a misunderstanding on my part. But I just imagine you pressing 2 over and over while in the plague form not realized that 1-3 set the type of plague you are, rather than active skills.
Unless of course there is some kind of exploit that I dont know about that causes the plague to tick each time you press the skill causing for very rapid ticks.
We got one going in LA Mag right now, been keeping it alive for like 10min or so.
Wonder if other classes have a secret like this.
Kinda depends on the situation. In a group sure the mesmer has a good Time Warp elite (tho after the quickness nerf I dont find it all that impressive), but solo roaming around in PvE you have nothing.
Luckly my mesmer is Sylvari and they have the fern hound elite, which in my opinion is the best racal elite iv ever used. Short cooldown, long duration and one of the few summons that has enough health to actually survive.
So far I only have 3 level 80s, Engi, Necro and Mesmer. and I’m not all that impressed with any of their class elites. I guess the necro’s flesh golem is the best Iv used so far solely because its the only one that I can tell makes a notable difference to combat.
Engi’s Supply Drop and Mes’s time warp (the 2 most used class elites) dont really DO anything. sure its a small spike in damage and supply drop does some healing, but if your just barely losing the fight, neither would do enough to change that.
This JonPeters guy is scoring a lot of points here of late.
Makes sense to me. Its not like it would be the only WvW focused skill in the game. Take portal for example, its almost exclusively a WvW skill, only other use it has it cheating people past dungeon content or cheating people to the end of jump puzzles.
Besides the repair amount each swing gives is pretty weak, even by our turrets low hp standard. It would take several engineers a long time to fully repair a siege weapon from even half hp. And doing so while its taking damage from another siege weapon be pointless.
