I used to farm aswell, then I realized that it’s not worth the time.
So I decided to play the tp (I use longterm investments rather than short as I don’t want to stand at the tp everyday). I also buy gems from time to time to give my progress towards a legendary a small boost so I stay motivated while I wait for investments to pay off.
Finished my second legendary last week (flameseeker and sunrise) and started working towards my third now.
Longterm investments require almost no time, add on top your daily small income from normal playing and you will have a legendary before you know it.
p.s. buy the precursor, I had to do so with both aswell because of my bad luck, save yourself a lot of money this way (I spent 450g on toilet trying to get dawn, failed and ended up buying it for 600g, that’s alot of money wasted
).

Today I got my title after a lot of hassle, I will never return to this event again. Huge amount of co-ordination and pre-event organizing required for a few blues & greens, what a joke.
Tribulation Mode - W2Z3 ruined SAB for me
in Super Adventure Box: Back to School
Posted by: Xuro.5861
I attempted this one a few times and every time I can’t get the past first checkpoint because the place you need to get the second flag has spikes on the ice, every time I want to jump over them, the system prioritizes the gliding over ice before the jump due to my ping, resulting me in dying, no matter if I made it on my screen.
I thought about it and realised it’s not worth the hassle, it seems you need perfect ping or you are screwed by aNet.
I posted a feedback topic a while ago where I addressed the ice issue but since no developer seems to care, I won’t either anymore. I don’t mind difficulty but I do mind getting screwed over for not having a perfect ping.
I won’t set foot in SAB ever again
I attempted it with a few others for almost 15 minutes, evading and dodging a lot of times, all succesfull and still no achievement.
It appears to be bugged since the latest patch.
Let’s go do an event with a 95% failure rate that takes 1000x longer than a Queensdale event yet gives oddly similar rewards!
41 worlds, 1.5 hour respawn, he has been available for around 30 hours.
30/1.5 × 41 = 820 spawns (not counting overflows) and 5 wins. That’s a .006 win percent.
That is about the same chance of getting a precursor out of the Mystic Toilet!I can see the nerf bat coming already, but personally I think they should leave it and make it a guild event. Though they need to add better rewards and better scaling so 20 – 30 people could do it.
Actually the precursor chance is 0.1% average for rares and 1% average for exotics so you will probably find several precursors before finishing this event with those odds
After a few more tries today I personally won’t attempt it anymore untill they come up with a solution because right now I just end up being mad at people who either troll the zerg or refuse to listen to the commanders who are on teamspeak.
I am one of the people who think this encounter is fine if they put it as a raid in an instance but not in open world where we rely on to many random factors.
I’ve seen countless posts now saying;
“it’s fine, don’t nerf it”
“l2p instead of spamming 1”
“we need hard content”
As I have beaten liadri and sab trib mode, I love hard content aswell but you will have to realize that if this encounter is not tuned down, soon nobody will be able to enjoy it at all.
It is made for 80 people who are fully geared and prepared, meaning that unless you are in one of the few active WvW guilds, you have no chance to gather this many. Most servers can’t even collect 80 people on TS3 for that matter.
“But all the bad people will stop coming to teq, only the good will be left” or “They will learn how to deal with this encounter.”
Wrong, in two weeks we will get new living story content which will be the major focus, along with holiday events soon and the WvW leagues, meaning that most people will be occupied with other content rather than camping teq for days on end, hoping to finally beat him after their 50th attempt.
The two servers that beat it did a great job, however they are now still failing the event aswell due to all the guests, meaning that if they ever want to obtain the title, they have to re-do what they did today, atleast a few more times for every person. Do you really think they will or are able to do this? Not with the new amount of guests flooding these servers now.
The sad reality is that it has to be nerfed considerably to make it real longterm content.
We’ve seen it before with Karka Queen and the Aetherblade Jumping Puzzle (people said the same about not changing the puzzle, well it’s completely deserted now).
I personally hope that they will make proper adjustments to this encounter and build this current version into an instance where people can enter with entire guilds to enjoy this content without relying on so many random factors from the open world (Guild Raids).
(edited by Xuro.5861)
Even if people learn how to do the encounter, they’re not going to do it. Two rares, some ascended materials and a tiny chance at some unique items are not enticing enough to organize a good group and fight Tequatl for 15 minutes.
Actually it’s 45 ~ 60 minutes (each stage has a max timer of 15 minutes) for those drops so it’s even worse
No.
Old teq might have been boring but atleast a 100+ zerg didn’t have to rely on 6 people.
I gave it an honest effort. we organized, planned, split into groups, got good players into turrets.
We gave it everything we had and only got to 60% after 4 tries. 3 hours of playing and I have a total of -5s to show for it.
I am done with this event until it is either nerfed or moved to an instance where we can get rid of the hordes in blues.
Same here, it’s nearly impossible unless you get extremely organised which is impossible on Seafarer’s Rest at the moment due to the mass transfers by baddies for the upcoming league.
I was extremely excited for weeks since the livestream, it got killed in the first minute of the event when I saw the hp barely dropping with 100+ people hitting it.
4 tries and still stuck at 2/10 achievements because we can’t get past 85%.
Once everyone has their achievements, events like these will die off, you get a green per 25% and maybe a small chance at a new skin at the end. I don’t think many will attempt it hundreds of times to get one skin, especially since the entire map depends on 6 people.
Hopefully this was the first and last revamp of the world bosses.
(edited by Xuro.5861)
I certainly didn’t buy 3 pickaxes for this lousy animation.
My only reaction when I saw this was “what the f is this nonsense?”
edit 2: It seems guesting to a french server fixed the issue. So it might be related to some servers.
I was standing in LA for around 30 minutes, then I suddenly dc and my character is moved back to Blazeridge Steppes, now every time I try to log in it keeps loading and says “Network Error” and crashes the client.
The last time this happened, Queensdale crashed on Seafarer’s Rest and we had to guest to fix it but now I get this error everywhere, no matter what server.
So in short, I can’t even enter this character anymore.
What to do?
edit: I can log all my other characters perfectly fine, it’s only this particular char that appareantly is stuck in a crashed zone.

Before I begin I would like to take a minute to thank the team that’s responsible for this month’s content as I am a huge fan of SAB. The first day I made a non-constructive post about the lag at geysers and I would like to apologise for the way I posted, it was rude and I could and should have made it respectable towards the developers.
After finishing everything in SAB except W2Z3 Tribulation Mode (which I will attempt this weekend) I would like to provide some constructive critism along with a few possible idea’s for improvements.
World 2 Zone 1
As most of us experienced, the water geysers were extremely glitchy and laggy. A hotfix was released where they are now permanently active. I personally hope this will not stay, although I made a complaint post and did my fair share of raging at the lag, without the lag, this part was a LOT of fun. Maybe additional checkpoints, which use the same system as TM could be placed at a few places? You won’t have to redo the entire path whenever you lag or glitch down.
All the extra paths within this level are amazing, especially the area before the hillbillies maze felt (although small) adventerous. I hope all future levels will have these added to them.
World 2 Zone 2
This zone was quite a surprise the first time I did it, it felt extremely tedious as it took forever to get past several stages. However, after a few succesfull runs that feeling went away, it feels rather short now. As I’m probably not alone with this experience, it might help reduce this tedious feeling the first time by making some of the more time-consuming paths optional.
For example the box/gong towers;
If you want either the achievement for finding all baubles within this zone, or want to find all hidden rooms, you can “force” players to do this by putting a hidden room at the top, along with a red bauble in it. If they don’t want the achievement, they can skip it entirely.
This way the perfectionists/fans will have their challenge and the people who are less interested into SAB or don’t like this kind of challenges, can skip it and focus on the more “smooth” jumping parts of the zone.
I personally feel the assassins/ninja’s are fine, at first I hated the knockback so much but you get used to it and now they don’t even bother me anymore. It’s really a matter of learning to adept when dealing with these creatures.
World 2 Zone 3
This zone is just stunningly beautifull, I’m a real sucker for snowy area’s so it was a great surprise to see an entire zone covered in snow. The only negative side in this zone is the ice itself in my opinion, the doors that knock you back can become annoying if you lag a bit as you can slip easily off the ice at quite a few places (especially with position lag). I was hoping that we could buy snowshoes or some sort at the end (you no longer slip away on the ice) so future runs would be a bit easier as the entire zone is quite huge in itself.
Tribulation Mode
My first attempt was with a few friends on teamspeak and it was a lot of fun, hearing anything from cursing to laughter when someone was getting trolled by ourselves or the game was just amazing. Everything in TM is perfect and I enjoyed every minute of it. This weekend I will attempt the last zone which I will be sure, will offer a real challenge but fun experience aswell. Can’t wait to see what world 3 will be like.
My best experience
The hidden room for moto’s finger. IT IS AWESOME. I was on Teamspeak with a few others when we attempted this and it was just funny as hell to see people struggle with it. After a few minutes we got the hang of it and before we knew it, we had it open. I really REALLY hope we can see more of this kind, it was by far the most fun I had in SAB so far.
Rewards
The rewards feel a bit lackluster this update. I know and understand you wanted to prevent the farming with character deletion that went on at the first release but I think the nerf went a bit overboard. Earning a skin takes quite a few days now which might be problematic for people with alot of characters.
I hope that the amount of bubble baubles that can be earned, will be increased a bit so they are on par with the first release. As the skins are not unique and account bound, I personally see no harm in letting people get as many as they want. Especially since we now have TM skins which are far more interesting for many people.
If anyone wants to add anything, feel free to.

Hello,
As a player from a tier 1 server I currently face queue times of over 2 hours during peak times. I’m quite worried what the queue times will become once we get seperate achievements + rewards for WvW next month.
Is there any plan to increase the amount of players per map? Or maybe a better queue system where we can see our place + estimated time in line?
Before anyone states the obvious, I was at this server when it was still a bottom tier server which was 3 weeks after launch. I don’t plan on moving because of all the freeloaders that moved here suddenly (including a few big guilds which dropped us suddenly, now return to reap the rewards soon, it’s quite a disgusting happening).
I died over 20 times while I was loading the shop screen, how the hell am I supposed to do this if the lag keeps killing me? I’m at 41 ping here so can’t understand why this nonsense is happening.
As seen in my other topic I was beyond excited for world 2 to be released, along with Tribulation Mode. Sadly excitement turned into frustation within minutes.
Lag ….. so much lag …., the raft, stones and pillars on the water and especially the fountain are laggy as hell, often I’m standing somewhere and suddenly fall off into the water where lag makes it impossible to get up anymore, meaning I die without reason.
Everything from jumping pads to simple jumps are lagging like kitten.
My ping is constantly between 21 and 41 and I can run world 1 without any problems, it seems to only happen in world 2.
With the current lag I cannot even finish zone 1 in world 2 in normal mode, let alone Tribulation Mode.
Very disappointing.
Today is the big day, so excited!
Got a few days off, stocked up enough food & snacks to feed an army, I’m so ready for Tribulation Mode
Hahaha.
Dat face on so many people
I’m going to lay out the game philosophy behind how we decided to do Tribulation Mode because I think it’s going to be misunderstood by a lot of folks.
First, here’s a playthrough of two games that are in the style we are doing.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22oTEDa2Rxk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bAH2KMiscqYSome people aren’t aware that this genre exists, and SAB TM may be their first exposure to it. We took a creative risk by going in this direction with it rather than the standard make-enemies-hit-harder-and-give-you-less-health approach that most games use to ramp up difficulty. That would have been very easy and very safe. (And probably more popular.) But we never do anything the easy or safe way.
The thing that makes this approach tricky is that on its surface, it seems to be bad design because it is intrinsically unfair. What fans of the genre understand is that there is a depth there that comes from a really interesting dynamic in the communication between the designer and the player that doesn’t exist in other games. It’s hard to articulate, but I would say it’s something like friendly pranking. There’s great pleasure to be had in finding ways to outwit a prankster. And that can’t happen unless you have a prankster. And that’s what the designer provides. People who don’t ‘get’ this kind of game see it like the designer is trolling out of cruelty, and so they read malicious intent into the invisible insta-kills. But that’s just not the case. It’s simply a specific kind of content made for a specific kind of player who wants in on the pranks. Yes, raging is part of the process. In fact, I rage at myself when I play TM all the time!
And the thing about how it is unfair: yes, it is. However there is a deep satisfaction to be had in overcoming in an unfair fight. In these games your only real power is tenacity. And besides, it’s only unfair in the short feedback loops. (Here’s some information on feedback loops in game design: ) http://www.jorisdormans.nl/machinations/wiki/index.php?title=Feedback_Analysis_and_Recurrent_Patterns
But the longer (and more substantive) feedback loop is a process of learning how the designer thinks. Discovering that style and finding how to navigate the level better as a result. The first lesson is this: the most obvious easy way will most likely kill you. The harder, more circuitous rout will probably be the way to go. This creates a joy of discovery and overcoming that few other genres can provide. But it is an acquired taste.
Another commonality among games in the genre (which I’m not aware of having a name yet… let me know if you’ve heard of one) is that lives are extremely cheap, and you blow through them. Lives are like HP in an RPG or ammo in an FPS. You go in EXPECTING to lose a LOT. If you interpret losing a life as “failure” then you will have a miserable time. It would be like feeling like you “fail” when you take damage in a turn based role playing game. Instead, if you see every death as another learning experience, you’ll have a much better time. Kind of like the way your armor rating increases when you take damage in Skyrim. So part of preparing for a TM run, you’ll be ‘leveling up’ your ‘life meter’ by collecting as many lives and Continue Coins as you can.
Hahaha, you got me so excited with this post.
You and your team are awesome, this will be the second time you provide content that I will actually enjoy spending my time on.
You are not alone, I’m kitten ed off aswell. I invested just as much time into it as other people with legendaries yet we are being left out because of favoritism by the devs. It’s ridiculous beyond words.
I believe she said ‘….i thiiink…’..
Quality of salvage kit does NOT matter for finding essence of luck.
we talked.. we’re sure now
.
The Copper-fed Salvage-O-Matic will work just as well as any other kit for finding Essence of Luck
Sorry about the confusion folks! Curtis and I examined how everything is set up and the type of salvage kit does NOT affect the amount of Essence of Luck that you get. Please do enjoy your Copper-fed Salvage-O-Matic without any fears of it not giving you the standard amount of Essence of Luck that any salvage kit will produce!
Thanks for answering this fast, I’m glad to hear it was all a misunderstanding.
Updated my post accordingly aswell.
The shield has no time cycle, aura and footsteps and won’t receive any either, so be happy you atleast get footsteps.
I’m severely disappointed at ArenaNet at the moment.
First they turn my infinite salvage kit useless where I paid real money for, then I hear on the livestream that my legendary won’t receive an update, leaving it behind the others in many aspects.
Seems I only get a giant middlefinger next week.
It seems there was a miscommunication, kit rarity does not effect the amount of essences you obtain from salvages.
(edited by Xuro.5861)
I still don’t understand the idea that hard equals fun for some. I play for fun, not frustration. So I’ll stay away.
As with everything in life, if there is no challenge in it for me, I have no interest in it. That’s why my hobbies all require intense physical dedication, the same is valid for any mmo’s I play. The entire game is a snorefest when it comes to challenge, even Liadri is a joke without the camera issues haunting it. I barely play for this reason aswell, so bored from all the easymode content.
People who seek this kind of goals/entertainment in life enjoy nearly impossible tasks as it encourages you to improve yourself. That’s what I enjoy, seeing myself improve in something which I at first couldn’t achieve or finish.
I certaintly hope Tribulation Mode will keep me occupied for atleast 3 days.
Will we gain any kind of gold from SAB #2 ?
in Super Adventure Box: Back to School
Posted by: Xuro.5861
I made like 200 gold from just doing daily speedruns on 5 characters for the duration of the event. Found a greatsword in the last week which I sold for 55 gold ^^
Josh Foreman already said that this time, your personal score will influence the droprate at the final chests, so the speedfarming will most likely not be possible anymore (he admitted they made a mistake with the rewards the first time).
Don’t expect any income from it this time.
Been preparing since the last week of the first time SAB arrived for this mode.
Hopefully it will provide a challenge similar or harder than the halloween jumping puzzle
I decided to give GW2 another try after seeing the hype around scarlet. We make her spawn in the last three minutes and before I could even select the waypoint she was down.
Our “epic bad guy” died within a few seconds. I missed out on the achievement due to this.
Is this a joke or something? Even a regular event champ has more hp than her.
I finished my balloon towers achievement so now I miss one champion, since they all spawn all over the world appareantly I’m forced to camp at one map for half a day to hope the one I need will spawn?
Nobody thought it would be a better idea to give each race’s area one unique champion to make tracking of them alot easier and make more sense?
I have to wait in line to enjoy content now?
Hahaha that’s it for me, I’m buying Final Fantasy 14 today. I’m sick and tired of time-gating, it’s really getting out of control in this game.
Spent 400 euro’s on gems the past weeks, you won’t be getting any more of my money from this point on.
Today I wanted to buy 16,000 gems using paysafecard, I bought the first 12,000 and everything went fine, then for my last purchase it said something went wrong, blocked the transaction and refused to give my gems even though it deducated the money from my prepaid card.
So now I’m down 50 euro’s, have no gems and I have to contact support with the hope that the system registered the purchase correctly so they can add the gems to my account.
I’m not very pleased about this bug as I have spent quite a bit the past weeks.
Considering there is a daily limit, it should have blocked the interface in the first place so the transaction could not bug out half way.
Hello,
As I am close to the last trinket on my guardian, I need 2 more commendations, is any guild willing to let me join a bounty run once so I can get these last 2? It would be highly appreciated.
Well seems they won’t change it, I tried 6 times and failed all due to tiredness from work.
I actually got promoted today so figured I could celebrate it, I won’t do it on GW2 tho, I won’t support a company that screws over people with little playtime.
Hahaha I saw this coming from a mile away, it was clear after the first nerfs that ranger would never be fixed properly.
I rerolled a guardian 6 months ago, best decision I ever made in this game.
I do miss Mr Cuddles sometimes, it feels nice having a pet with you when playing solo (assuming the AI works properly).
How surprising, another disappointment of a dungeon, now they make it longer but a huge annoyance.
Living story is meant to be fun, yet it´s nothing but a revamp of old content along with a grind and annoying gimmicks attached to it. If I cannot obtain all achievements for this LS part, I will quit. Tired of being punished for having two jobs and very little time to play at the moment.
It has been bugged since launch (bugs out after one finish, can’t redo it again), genious idea for placing a cache there.
-facepalm-
A pleasant surprise as reward from the last instance and I like it alot, this has more value for me than a backpack I won’t ever use.
I hope we can see this more often as a part of the rewards linked to the living story.
p.s. Could we get a bank tab for this at the collectibles section so we can store them safely? Would be awesome.
I used to play 6 hours or more a day, depending on work but ever since all the nerfs and the lack of content with depth, I now login 30-45 minutes a day to do my daily, a few meta events for a few rares and call it a day.
Seeing how after 10 months there is still no sign of any balancing within the loottables (especially with the CoF to Fractals ratio) I don’t believe they will address it any time soon. The only changes we have seen are hard nerfs everywhere.
Dailies are becoming harder to do every day too, getting really tired of this time-gated grind (yet I still need a few hundred laurels for my characters). Especially since I can’t do 7 dailies on a saturday for example, where in an older MMO like Rift you actually can.
(edited by Xuro.5861)
Well I’m now at 7/10 with all current ones available (got the Big Boom already due to a bug with overflows), only the two from the minigame currently don’t count. Still hoping for that clarification on this matter ^^
They both currently don’t count towards the meta. Is this intended? Just checking whether it’s bugged or not
Nourishments still partly work, people are abusing it heavily to become invincible. Can this please be patched?
edit: can a mod please move this to the right section?
(edited by Xuro.5861)
I love how fun the events are, you can keep defending and retaking camps for several hours just hoping for that small chance for the queen to spawn. I mean, who cares I want to experience the game, just waiting there for that small chance is fun in itself!
After I get this last achievement I won’t ever set foot in this annoying map ever again.
Don’t bother with them anymore, it’s not worth the karma → gold ratio anymore. I just spent 300k karma on an alt and received 80k back. I only got 1 lodestone + 7 obsidian shards and nothing else aswell.
(edited by Xuro.5861)
It’s still partly bugged, the water + vines come after I’m done gathering, not during the animation. Water being the same size as the lava at the mining pick would be a welcome change too.
I hope they can fix this too.
Had to restart twice for it to properly work but it does indeed seem fixed.
(edited by Xuro.5861)
Haha this is lazyness at it’s finest, after seeing the animation on my newly bought sickle and the new instances, I really think they just got lazy and wanted to be “done” with this arc of the living story.
I’ve never seen a supposed “AAA” title release such unfinished “content/items”
When you upgrade an item to ascended level after the transmution, you will loose your skin.
If you just want to put an infusion into the empty slot, then you can do that whenever you want, either before or after the transmution.
Transmuting items makes them soulbound unless it’s onto a white item with no slotted gems/infusion, in this case it is not so it will become soulbound.
Hope that clears stuff up.
Agreed with the OP.
Now the ironic part, CoF 1 farm stays untouched for over 6 months.
I have been waiting for this since the announcement several months ago. I still need over 200 Laurels to gear my characters in ascended so I’m not particulary excited to wait another 5 months for their gear.
(For example, one alt can run fotm 40+ by now but lacks AR due to this ridiculous timegated progression.)

drama queen much?
Thank you for your major contribution to my thread, your outstanding intelligence as shown by your post is very impressive.
I didn’t miss the statement about also unlocking a group mode but my point still stands, a solo instance shouldn’t even exist in a MMORPG. Why play one if you can solo everything? Seems pretty pointless to me.
I was hoping that after the enormous complaints on the Personal Story (I dislike the fact that this is all singleplayer too), they wouldn’t repeat the same mistakes again with future content.
I want to play a MMORPG, not a singleplayer game.
