if you want to be useful?
no, it sucks. play 4 kits + healing turret and learn the ins and outs of engi
my money’s on some kind of power-based elite spec
If healing isn’t your thing, Condi ranger can arguably be one the best DPS options for raids and even fractals. Rotation isn’t very difficult or demanding either.
^ This
Yes, you should consider running viper’s ranger instead. I still remember when I run the build for the first time its feels really unbelievable. Skills are super easy to land and most probably the easiest condition stacking rotation among all the classes. The fact that it’s the current top Condi DPS (if I’m looking at the most up-to-date DPS benchmark) and doesn’t lag too far behind Condi Engi in terms of realistic DPS just makes it even more useful.
if you’re gonna play a ranger in fracs you might as well just go the whole hog and play druid since many, if not most, pugs will pretty much expect you to play a druid of some kind
and plus condi ranger does not have the utility like engi does
hey
long time man, i remember you
all of the guilds like rT, SC, qT etc as you may well know require extensive raiding knowledge now because of expected content implementation in the future
if you’re not interested in raiding you might as well quit high-end pve because there’s as there’s gonna be more raid wings ppl will want to do more raids and less dungeons until anet decide they want to revamp dungeons again, or something. you can always just do solo dungeon records i guess if ur that bored
idk good luck man
condi PS
it’s PS lol, and you’ll get accepted more into raids if you want to do those in the future if they don’t nerf it. who needs that trash 4N+1R meta anyway
no
raids are actually quite easy as they are
if you want to be catered to, play auric basin or dragon stand or something. adding a “normal mode” so ppl who don’t even know how to play their class properly can feel like they are contributing is, in my opinion, a waste of dev time/resources. they need to focus their efforts on either the xpac, fixing the wvw/pvp issues or adding more content
i can afk and play runescape while raiding on my DH
Copy the rotation down to a T, learn how to adapt your utility skills to different situations and that’s basically all you have to know. (besides having gear)
the average player skill level was a lot lower pre HoT which caused this kind of reaction within the forum playerbase
also anet have had to nerf mobs due to them absolutely shredding bads inexperienced players to bits.
As a side-note I have noticed over my time playing that the best players from personal experience are normally between 5k and 18k (at a stretch) AP. Anything above that tends to be AP hunters… and anything below that is a potential liability for me. 4k AP is okay but I’ve noticed maybe too many people still screwing up basic tactics at that AP tier.
People who want 5k+ AP for level 13 fractal are most likely mentally incapacitated.
On the other hand, in my opinion it’s not unreasonable to add a filter to your LFG if it’s content like raids (if you meet your own requirements) or T4 fractals. Don’t know about you guys but I personally hate having to carry people when I want to just do something quickly so I can get on with the rest of what I want to do for the day.
And thats fine but dont kick people just because you dont want to explain it, how else will people learn if no one tells them? The problem is you just kick people for one mistake it is rude and a form of elitism. If you dont want to teach anyone or carry anyone your just going to have to specify each time, thats no ones responsibility but your own:)
Another thing that royally ticks me off is when people make groups and everyone leaves because they want drop the pug people to invite thier friends who showed up late to the party, your wasting other peoples time, no just no.
WTF are you talking about?
If you’re doing a T4 fractal and you have no idea what you’re supposed to do, then you should not place the burden on me to carry you. That is what I’m saying. Anything below that I don’t really care – T3/2 (regarding 41-60) are a royal pain in the butt, so I don’t even do those anyway, and T1 is able to be done with less than 5, so it matters not to me how experienced you are since it’s not really that difficult as an Elementalist to solo some of the bosses.

Burnzerker got nerfed so that clearly isn’t going to get you anywhere.
TLDR just roll Necro. Necro is super easy to play anyway. If your team needs cc roll Engi and L2P.
In pvp, P/P it’s not longer viable.
In WvW maybe it’ still a thing, but still people has too much condi immunity and condi removal
In PvE it’s great, but only in High level fracals, Raids or Dungeon With bosses with a lot of health. For the open world it’s the same. Against trash mobs it’s a waste. Berserker gear works better.
And of course the main problem is that you are forced o pick 3 specific traits. Explosives, Tools and Firearms. No Scrapper and no difensive trait
You should not need defensive traits in PvE as an Engineer.
I personally used the “squishy” metabattle build and it is by no means squishy if you consider your utilities.
For example, arcane shield, the earth elemental elite and the many CC skills on Staff can provide great active defenses. You just need to practise proper survivability management instead of tunneling on damage.
People who want 5k+ AP for level 13 fractal are most likely mentally incapacitated.

I don’t really mind/care since I do all three T4 fractals in one session, so it’s really the same pre-HoT.
Except that Mai Trin is more of a sponge and is kind of annoying if your team sucks.
Good luck soloing AC with an Engineer.
Not sure I really understand this thread. Troll Post, sarcasm, …???
people won’t let me play how i want
why do people keep raging at me when i run ahead of them and start boss fights early?
anet should let me play how i want, i mean isn’t that the whole point of the game? people should not judge me for what i do. what do u think?
urs sincerely
a concerned staff ele
just play elementalist or warrior and steamroll it
easy peasy
Minions + all offensive gear + dagger/warhorn combo = yes (for levelling).
For equipment at level 80 you want to check metabattle
Staff is better than sword for thief PvE DPS in raids.
inb4 Tequatl accidentally kills all of his own adds
sure, come back once the dungeon rework comes out

Just casually rolling mid-air on top of a jump pad at high speed.
Yes if you have keys that you earned from daily.
No if you don’t.
for a while it’d probably make dungeon participation rise
I play Mesmer (chrono) because most pug mesmers suck.
Seems like they nerfed AF gen again.
Thoughts?
Yeah.
Practise it.
PSA: Get a serious group of regular players or just wait for pugs to figure out how to do the first boss 100% of the time.
It’s pretty important given the Enrage timer.
It’s more important to have knowledge of boss mechanics and try to maintain maximum DPS uptime while staying alive however, and using food/sharpstones(etc). Good luck getting into a lot of pug raids without Ascended though
Go
12chars12chars
You can always just not play Guardian.
:^)
You should use the spoiler tag if you’re going to have a spoiler.
How about rerolling to Warrior?
Chronomancer isn’t required to play PvE as a mesmer strictly speaking, but if you’re so mad about it, you might as well just play something that doesn’t require HoT to be at maximum potential in PvE.
Scholar or Chronomancer.
Those are basically your 2 most efficient options for group play. Chronomancer runes make you a lot more inflexible however since you need Illusionary Inspiration for it to work properly.
Wot?
Kappa.jpg
You don’t have to use Shield just because you’re playing Chrono (at least in PvE).
Scholar or Chronomancer.

You’re forgetting the quickness from Tides of Time.
thanks, edited
Thoughts on this?
If you have the Boon% food, you gain about 4.8 extra seconds if you cast TW and two Wells of Action. You use Mimic on Well of Recall giving an extra 14 seconds of Alacrity (so 28 seconds in total).
If you cast Well of Action 4 times (mimic + CS) with one TW you gain an extra 6.9 seconds if my calculations are correct, but you only have 14 seconds of Alacrity from the two Wells of Recall.
PSA: The boon duration food I’m talking about is Golden Fried Dumpling (20%) and Bountiful Sharpening Stone (10%), giving a total of +30% boon duration. Also, yes I know I spelled boon wrong in the title, lel
EDIT: Tides of Time gains 0.kitten extra quickness. So the first instance gets 5.25 extra seconds, and the second instance will now have 7.35 extra seconds. However this doesn’t apply to every scenario since you’re not going to have Shield all the time

Unless you’re attempting record runs it’s not that big of a deal.
I personally run Assassin on my Mesmer so I can blow up Lupi at random times when I feel like it.
Don’t you dare the mesmer can’t strongly heal and share boons.
Signet of inspiration on its own is the most op boon sharing thing ever. The whole staff is filled with boons. Phantasms can proc infinite regeneration on the whole team while Phantasmagorical defender shield the team.Minstrel stats are super duber op on a healing mesmer (and yes a healing mesmer is more than viable I’ve been playing it for over a week and I’m having a blast in decently high level fractals).
I’ll dare.
Healing mesmer is absolute garbage and if you play it you deserve an instant kick from any party.
Your healing coefficients are awful. Healing requires you to spam mantras continually, which is awful. Even if you absolutely maximize every possible way to heal on a mesmer, you’ll still get outhealed by a druid that isn’t even using healing stats.
Healing mesmer is garbage.
Edit: And our boonshare isn’t even that good. Unless you’re running my particular chrono build, you don’t generate any good might, fury, or aegis, which are the actually important boons to be sharing.
Any chance you can share this build with us?
Anyone figured out how to get these?
Thanks
Short answer: Yes in group play.
Long answer: It depends on the encounter.
What sigils/runes should I use for PvE?
Thinking Force/Strength sigils and Scholar runes at the moment for what I’ve tested but not sure at the moment.
EDIT: Forgot to quickly write, I’m in full zerk, if that has any implications.
(edited by Yobculture.5786)
EDIT: Wrong forum.
7) It’s not classed as a boon, so… no. If it was a boon it can be stripped and that’s bad. You’re knocking on the wrong door here, I think maybe.
Neither is stealth, and stealth stacks. Why can’t/shouldn’t super speed?
Good point, actually.
I think Anet need to make super speed… more “super speed”, though.
It helps to set your GFX to minimum.
I play scrapper with Soldier gear :P Zerker would be suicide on Scrapper. Unlike Rev he has bigger survi problems due to lower amount of evades.
I play my Scrapper in full Zerk and I don’t die that much in PvE.
