1) Yes. Doesn’t feel like that much of a convenience, though, in my opinion unless I’m trying to stack personal stealth. This particular bug is most noticeable when I’m using it facing a wall or corner.
2) Dunno about that, doesn’t make much of a difference in PvE so I’m respectfully going to have to be neutral about that one.
3) I personally don’t run around a lot with my Gyros enough that they would actually need to have to move around a lot, since I’m meleeing things and I only summon my Gyros during a world boss event (aka, when I really need it) as the only Gyro I’m ever using is the Bulwark gyro since I’m mostly a PvEgineer. However this point has already appeared in multiple threads, so yes.
NOTE: I have actually encountered this bug before in spite of what I’ve written and it does annoy me a little when it doesn’t come with to help buff me so I can finish off a mob.
4) Double click on a downed person and it will do the job.
5) Dunno about that, how about leading the shot? It does feel a little slow, though.
6) Don’t use it then, I guess. Not like Healing Turret is already PvE meta. No comment on the Inventions tree thing, I don’t really know what to say about that.
7) It’s not classed as a boon, so… no. If it was a boon it can be stripped and that’s bad. You’re knocking on the wrong door here, I think maybe.

I think that’d be a pretty good idea.
I don’t think we needing to be boosting Elementalists’ egos even further in PvE considering how much damage they deal.
Kappa
It just spawns a chest with a yellow, a green/blue and some empyreal fragments. The boss itself is probably not soloable by 95% of the builds out there and takes 5+ minutes to kill. Not even worth doing.
I needed to kill it for my collection item.
It didn’t drop it.
It is according to my friend who knows someone that did.
It explains why Aetherized weapons are so low if that’s the case.
I killed Mayatl the Fierce and didn’t get the collection item for my Order pack.
Is it RNG or a bug?
anyone seen any?
You can buy the Executioner outfit from the Gem store and use the toy bundle that comes with it to speed yourself up quite a lot by spamming 2 and then 6 around 35-40% of the way of the channel time. That pretty much fixes your movement problems.
For normal combat I’d just try and endure the long process with a phantasm or shatter build. It’s definitely worth levelling a Mesmer to 80.
EDIT: Nevermind. Saw other thread and facepalmed after having posted this thread.
Wrong forum.

Sword also has a strong defensive advantage. If you find yourself playing around with tanking things, Alacrity+Blurred Frenzy+Shield+Well of Precog+Distortion = amazing damage mitigation uptime.
It’s not as big a deal in PvE, but I could see there being uses for it.
Is there a significant difference in playstyle between power and condi PvE chrono builds?
I had chronophantasma before i switched to stm.. i thought the same :-)
untill.. i found the dps output with stm is just better in the long fight than chronophantasma.
Example with stm – start in staff, retreat—warlock—dodge towards the target- split -chaosstorm--(swap)—duelist —gravity well/timewarp--well of recall—dodge—cry of frustration- split end -(this is where stm comes into play bigtime.. producing clones very very quickly with quickness @ every shatter)
Example with chronophantasma – start in staff, retreat—warlock—dodge towards the target- split -chaosstorm--(swap)—dodge—cry of frustration—duelist —gravity well/timewarp--well of recall- split end -(this is the spot where shatters start getting slower cause of slower illusion count after the duelist chronophantasma dies)
the effect isn’t seen immediately.. but after a bit into the fight.. your out of weapon swaps and illusion cd’s, not to mention stm also increases dps cause of faster auto attacks on both weapons especially scepter which is what you’ll be in for the most part.
Sword mainhand isn’t meta for Chrono?
Bah >_<
Any thoughts on this? (PvE-wise)
Thanks.

What constitutes the meta event cycle?
I keep getting randomly dced for reasons outside of my internet connection, so I can’t get the item for my Lightbringer Pack.
Scrapper is basically an Engineer that can stealth to reset fights/run away.
Use buff food.
Or just run Assassin gear.
Fixed, my bad.

Engineer has 4 kits that you’ll be using anyway if you want to play to the best of your ability, so it’s in your best interests to learn them all since you’ll be using all of them at one point or another. Look up Youtube guides by people like Brazil, qT Eraser (he doesn’t have guides specifically but his videos are a good insight into what decent Engineer play looks like), and others.
Think about it like this: Weapon sets are just a bunch of tools. You need different tools to adapt to different situations. If you aren’t as skilled with one tool as you are with another for the situation/encounter, you’re not going to perform as well as you should do. In that sense Engineer is quite difficult since you have to constantly rotate between weapon kits if you want to maintain maximum DPS.
TL;DR – If you don’t get used to weapon swapping now, you’ll have to do it later on anyway; so if you learn to do it now, you’ll avoid a lot of growing pain later on, so to speak, when you’re playing.
I played Engineer a long, long time ago but this is probably how I’d describe Engineer:
“You must be shapeless, formless, like water. When you pour water in a cup, it becomes the cup. When you pour water in a bottle, it becomes the bottle. When you pour water in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Water can drip and it can crash. Become like water my friend.” – Bruce Lee

Final tier of Order backpieces - thoughts
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Yobculture.5786
What do you guys think about having to do the Tangled Depths and Dragon Stand meta events to get to the final tier of the Order backpieces?
That’s in addition to having Nuhoch 5, Itzel 5 and Exalted 4 (at least for the Whispers backpiece), completing all achievements for some of the HoT storyline and a couple of other things.
Main reason why I ask this is because there seems to be a distinct lack of organisation and it doesn’t seem like we’ll be able to get these meta events done reliably for a while until we can form a community to do them.
Anyone know any good methods other than just trying to bumrush events?
What I’m using because I’m disgusting meta scum:
Anyone done this challenge?
Any tips?
Learn to chain your blocks and you’ll be fine.
The problem right now in the relationship between this game and its players is that the game’s combat is DESIGNED around using active defenses (skills), so blinds, blocks, reflects, etc. Pre-HoT most players would’ve gotten along fine without using active defenses, only passive defenses (stats) but now that everything hits hard you may as well give into the Zerk meta and just learn to play properly.
(just my opinion)
PSA: Yes, the mobs do hit hard. It sucks. I play Mesmer and I can’t chain my blocks that well because if I go Chronomancer I’m gonna lose a tonne of DPS from not having the right traits.
lolzerker…that setup will get you killed in these new areas, what with enemies that hit hard and travel in packs. The active defenses thing you’re right on, as a thief I’m having to dodge, shadowstep, and pull everything out of my kitten nal to stay alive…and the sad thing is that I’m wearing apothecary gear with a signet of malice build. Even with all that fast HP regen I’m still getting lit up hard.
I play full assassin Ascended gear. I don’t die that much, mostly when I screw myself over by playing badly or when I forget to equip my PVT Centaur set while running around.

PSA: Yes, the mobs do hit hard. It sucks. I play Mesmer and I can’t really chain my blocks because if I go Chronomancer for the extra long block from Shield, I’m gonna lose a tonne of DPS and other things from not having the right traits unlocked.
PSA 2.0: Use a Centaur running set and buy some Pots of Hylek Poison and you’ll be fine. I did that pre-HoT and it worked out for me. If you still think you’re going slow you’re probably not using your mobility skills (from what I’ve seen/experienced, at least).

Anyone wanna team up to fight Mordremoth?

(OMG, you’re that awesome SW comm!) I’d happily do it with you but I have to go out in 10 mins so you’ll probably find someone who’s online.
awwww you remember me <3
Anyway, I’m willing to wait.
I just don’t want to have to do it solo as a Mesmer, it’s a complete headache as I don’t have Chrono unlocked yet so my DPS is still pretty low and with my luck at the moment I think Mordremoth really has it in for me at the moment. It almost makes me regret ever doing HoT on my mesmer, should’ve maybe done the story on my Elementalist since I can just faceroll on everything.
Story was about 9/10 until the very last fight, then dropped to 1/10 because I’ve been suffering from RNG problems.
Otherwise, 6/10. Could really be better.

This is too annoying and I keep dying to stupid wind vent AoEs when I try to run to the rift.
Literally almost impossible for me to make any progress in the fight. >_<
sandy
get back to playing mes already
PREACH CRIXUS, PREACH!
It appears you will have to finish the wind-up (charging animation) before you are eligible for a second ice storm.
Basically you probably need 3 illusions, and then you would use TW, F5 and a very quick 4 after that. Don’t take me for granted on that, though.
First thing I noticed is Echo of Memory/Deja Vu is apparently not considered an Illusion skill for the purpose of traits. Illusionist’s Celerity doesn’t reduce its CD.
With Lost Time and Danger Time it is very possible to create a build with 100% Slow uptime on a target plus 100% crit chance. Haven’t tested this in actual combat yet but something to bear in mind.
I tested it and it works. Just not on mobs with a breakbar (champs, etc…).
Of course it is. Look at Wethospu_’s guide:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/3g0ss5/legit_tank_and_healer_build_for_pve/
Slow is a condition (like chill), not a control effect (like stun/daze).
I think he’s suggesting that mobs with a breakbar are not being affected by slow, not that he was expecting slow to damage the breakbar.
If he’s right though, and slow isn’t affecting breakbar mobs, then slow kinda sucks for dungeon content.
Compare to blind:
Blind is a condition, and apparently a control effect.
Blind can’t affect mobs with breakbar, but it can damage the breakbar (according to the article I read).
Slow, according to the OP, isn’t affecting mobs with breakbar…but it isn’t damaging the breakbar either? So slow is kinda useless against breakbar mobs.Slow either needs to fully affect breakbar mobs, or it needs to damage the breakbar. No class mechanic should be totally without effect for such a significant type of content.
From what I’ve screwed around with, it affects the breakbar, but not the mob itself, which is kind of sad because I really wanted to just run around around and get almost 100% slow uptime on champs.
Anyone else experiencing this or am I just being blind to a mechanic that I’ve overlooked somehow?
Alright, thanks guys.
Also how important is it to get the assassin accessories from CM and Arah collections?
As a drunk GW1 character might say…
“I love you, man!”
Probably best elite spec I’ve seen to date.
I’m trying to figure out which would give maximum DPS in a dungeon soloing situation and I need some insight. Currently I’m using Force/Slaying but if anyone could help me out that would be great.
Thanks again in advance.
(edited by Yobculture.5786)
Is it still possible? Are there any traits I have to change from the current meta build to do it?
Thanks in advance.
snip
To add to the list of fractal weapons I have, I just got a Focus (in addition to a weapon chest; which isn’t really relevant to the thread).
I think the only skin I’d probably really want now is the sword and/or the shield if it is viable for Mesmers.
I pretty much got my Staff on a random 31-40 run and it was my first skin, and it was what I wanted.
What would be the best method then?
I’m assuming it’s just “rush the personal storyline to level 10, quit and remake” but I’m not sure.
Is Human Warrior the best class to go to for doing this or a Guardian?
WvW zergs are nothing like PvE zergs, as the others have said.
If you have been in a high tier server (T2/T1) where the commander is yelling out commands over VOIP, you’ll quickly realise it’s not a zzzfest. Also, havoc groups (aka, “roamer groups”) do actually make a big difference in WvW. They are the hidden swiss army knife and eyes-in-back-of-head of a commander’s toolkit, so to speak. They can scout, they can upgrade things for you, they can claim buffs on your towers, they can roam around taking camps which early on in the WvW week can make a HUGE difference… the list doesn’t end.
(edited by Yobculture.5786)
Vulnerability increases all damage done to a target by +1%, it seems.
You’re most likely calculating it wrong or not seeing much of a difference because you’re not high enough level. Once you hit level 80, you can really feel the difference.
Are they worth using with Soldier/zerk (armor/trinkets respectively)?
For zerg runs melee isn’t very comfortable, for small group roaming you can pick better build
Figured that might be the case.
Oh well.
As a support it will depend on what other traits you take in blood. You will also be using staff a lot, possibly more than dagger. I would recommend knights, or a solders and zerker mix. Solders gear is great in wvw but I usually play it with a DS build.
Soldier’s gear with Zerk accessories at the moment.
I’m still not sure what to use as for runes. Most likely will just use the default Seal of the Soldier, or Eagle/Dolyak runes.
