Exactly! But kiting is a strategy, doing the exercise will increase your tactical expertise and hopefully improve your ability to kite.

While kind of off topic (we are mildly discussing players crying OP instead of rolling the “OP” class) A-net has done pretty well at balancing the classes, not nec. 1v1 but all around. If there was clearly 1 BEST class WvW would be a non-stop zerg of that class.

I used to be upset because my favorite weapons are GS,Sw/Sw (Anime Style!) but it doesn’t fit with my playstyle. If I go out anime style and die I should not cry OP, I made a choice to use a build I am not a fan of for aesthetics.

I think it’s important to get people to test your limits so you know what you can and can’t do, and using friends to beat you up in said exercise is a good way of figuring that out.

It’s alot of fun too! My favorite map for people starting this exercise is skyhammer (might be the only thing that map is good for). With those bounce pads littered about and plenty of stuff to mess with peoples LOS it’s a great map for training and keeping an eye out for things to hide behind!

lol that’s the world’s 2 worst thief ever. both of them just shot you with short bow the whole time . The best playing out of them was 1 guy who tried 22222 you . I have often beat bad thieves like that 2-3 at a time it means nothing at all.

Problem is vs good thieves they will run before they lose. I had a bunch of videos vs thieves but they end in the thief running.

I will post full vid (someday, youtube takes like 23hrs to upload 16secs lol) but I was already worn down pretty hard when the thieves showed up.

In chess all pawns are worth 1 point BUT the pawns in the middle of the line are worth far more (offensively) because they can monopolize they space in the center of the board.

Likewise all wvw objectives have different values!

There should be a warning with this. If you transfer to Kaineng we don’t have many players at all. You will be facing insane odds practically all the time. If you are a glutton for punishment but want to play beside some elite players that have been forced to become very good at the game to even compete, then transfer. If you don’t feel like going through all of that then don’t transfer.

I transferred from KN – TC and can say without a doubt constantly fighting outmanned in Kaineng has made me and my havoc squad (also from KN) better than many players up here in t1!

Pound for pound, the best players are on low pop servers.

I remember when we first arrived 2 tournys ago, running up to enemy North camp when a 5 man grp ran out of there citadel (we were 3), now on KN 3 v 5 was good lol, without reservation we attacked the group! One was immediately flagged and the other 4 ran their KITTENS back inside!

We lol’d hard!!!!!!!!!!

TL DR

BUT I agree with OP. I paid for my transfer (KN-TC) and am happy with my choice. My havoc group and I would (just for sport) go to low pop servers and havoc there awhile if we would be allowed to go back to TC when we pleased.

And let’s say this happened, maybe while hvking on another server we decide to stay? That server now has a cohesive Hvk team running around and having a good time.

1. My havoc squad and I taking down 2 walls at bay while BG held it during the last tourny.
The wall fell and there was an entire Zerg (20+ easy) waiting there for only 3 of us. We ran so fast to get out of there!

2. Anytime we flip an enemy north camp and drop a box o’ fun to set off fireworks.

When I started WvW I was enjoyed it but it took me awhile to get my footing.

As far as I have been able to tell it is completely random, or 33% chance for each of the 3 conditions.

Also in WvW, if you spawn clones with winds of chaos on an enemy, chance of killing the nearest moose is 110%.

Is it a clean 33% for each condition (bleed/vuln/burn) or is it heavier at one end?
There used to be a forum regarding Mesmer auto attacks but with the clone bounce update I wondered what the new numbers were or if there was a silent change?

I have not fought a shatter Mesmer with this build yet (really it’s only a few days old) but I have killed more than a few thieves with it in pvp. The scepter 2 in pvp is a thief killer, they are usually downed or they run and hide.

Sadly in WvW there are fewer capture circles so they run farther away and stealth longer.

Here are my thoughts regarding thief fighting
Firstly all of my utilities are stun breakers, if a thief pounces on me with a daze n dmg combo I will more than likely use mirror images+heal(to wash off blind)+any shatter but not mind wrack. Because the thief is on top o me he took the shatter at point blank.

Then dodge,dodge + press 2 (how can I say press 2? What if I am using the wrong weapon?!? I cannot be using the wrong weapon!!!! Staff 2 is phase retreat, I have 3 staff clones out rdy to mess up the thief. If it’s the scepter I have that beautiful torment block!!!!! And if you are using heal mantra you can heal while blocking if it’s charged!)

Thief comes back with stupid rotation, decoy+wep swap+dodge+heal(remove blind)+ shatter again. Press 2…

Alls the thief is doing is slowing me down, while this is going on I am still moving towards a camp I want to take.

If you are near the ruins jump into the deep water, only a fool would follow a Mesmer in the water!!! Perma blind thief cannot Perma blind in the water. Smart thieves know this and will stay out, dumb ones will jump in to their deaths. Sometimes I feign panic before jumping in so they jump in out of excitement.

When it comes to thieves stay calm/focused and DONT BLOW ALL YOUR UTILITIES AT ONCE!

I am actually thinking about putting together a Mesmer vs series, it will be posted here if I do but first I am going to put up some wvw map strategy tips.

I thought Zerk shatter was Zerk everything and rubies for runes running 20/20/0/0/30 or 4/4/0/0/6, where is the toughness coming from?
As for shattered concentration… Yup I goofed there, used GS training for extra power and faster shatter fodder. But that was before when sigils all shared same cooldown so sigil of energy wasn’t what it is today.

Straight Zerk shatter offers amazing burst but you are very squishy. If you went from power burst to condi burst you lose some burst but gain a lot of survivability.

Also conditions are not affected by boons, when I ran power shatter I hated protection.

All utilities chosen have defensive and offensive uses and that’s why they were chosen.
Stealth offers “first strike” and a second to charge mantra without interruption.

If I could I would remove mass invis and put in phantasmal disenchanter! It’s long windup makes it not so great for a get-out-of-jail-free card.

Let’s do some quick math…
1 (3) clone F-1 shatter (if all hit) = 6 stacks of torment and3 stacks of confusion.
6 stacks of torment = AT LEAST 900dps with this build

Enemy wipes because only a fool lets almost 1k bleed out/sec

Fight conts…

1 (3) clone F-2 shatter, same dps as before but double confusion, opponent wipes (2 condi cleanses in seconds)

I can shatter again right now if I wanted too (still have f-3 and f-4) but usually I will gauge opponents health. How much condi cleanse do ppl have? I have been using this build for a few days and the short answer is at least 60% of the ppl don’t have enough.

@Fay in video a guardian goes from almost full health to down in around 4 secs (if you slow the video you can see the torment tick 2k/sec and the confusion do 2k and 1.6k dmg, I would consider that high burst), the fight was not 4 secs, I shattered twice, teased with staff and scepter, saw the panic purging flames go off and landed a 5 clone shatter.

300 less toughness, no automatic defensive boons, (regen and protection at 75% health) no def boons on stealth (PU) , capable of extremely high burst and a shatter build (don’t think a PU shatter build exists since shatter dmg would break stealth (counter productive). People associate torch with PU but the confusion stacks the Mage dishes out adds to my attacks nicely and fire dmg is the best condi dmg in game.

You are correct, will have to add link, only problem is right now different members in my havoc squad are using different armor (carrion vs rabbid) didn’t think it was too big a deal because it was explained and the video is only 2.5 mins vs build vids that are 20+ mins.

Considering removing sigil of battle an adding sigil of earth for a bleed stack (a cover condition?) with the amount of prec this build offers it should proc every shatter and last 7secs with food buff.

WAIT… We can FEED BG players to the gobbler now?!? :,) it’s beautiful…

Let’s not forget though, CC gobbler gives that sweet wxp boost. NEED THAT CANDY!!!

Utilities were used to kill (not my normal setup) and I don’t zerg. Roamers are explicitly mentioned in vid. People who Zerg probably wouldn’t get a lot out of this.

I’m not really asking for “new” content. I just want the old content to allow for players to queue together. Anywhere else it would break the game (you queue for a dungeon and now have to do it with 4 random ppl???). The content is good I just want to play with friends

I love gw2 holiday events. Even with this Halloween being a copy of last year I am having a good time.

If Wintersday is going to be a copy of last year (which I would still enjoy) I would like to request an upgrade for the snowball fights (Wintersday pvp) it’s fun but it would be more fun if you could queue as a party.

It would be the difference between a good thing and a GREAT thing! The mad realm would not be as good if I wasn’t playing with my friends.

I felt the same way, I would kill the bunker from outside of the node but would lose due to pts. It’s a game of pts, find a way to stand toe to toe in the node to contest or expect to lose via pts even if you eventually kill the bunker.

Mesmer has plenty of anti thief. Thieves are EXTREMELY predictable! Easiest way to kill one is to go condi, staff, scepter/sword. Scepter block gives 5 stacks of torment, that’s an almost instant kill for thieves. Seriously, when a this hits that I immediately say over voice chat, someone find the body, few secs later I hear the “help me” heal cry, and it’s stomping time! I had a really hard time against thieves until I went condi and started using my blocks. If I don’t have scepter block I use off hand sword block and chase it with an f3 shatter for a chain daze, then it depends on what I have, condi haymaker? Moa? Stun?

Anyone with some protection and reliable condi cleanse can stand in the circle with a turret engi. I run rt up to them, drop a chaos storm and run in. Depending on the map, some points are bigger than others, I can get the engi to start dancing in and out. It’s a lengthy process but it’s not unusual for aid to be sent from other pts, now it’s 2v3 on 1 pt, my team has an extra player somewhere taking something.

most was already said but will add 8 stacks of bleed = 8 crits, if you are against a mez that does this they probably did an insane amount of dmg as EVERY shot crit and you didn’t dodge once!

I felt the same way up until a few nights ago…

I went into WvW with my newly acquired Mad King costume and had a ball.
My idea was to set up staff clones and stand behind them. I hoped my opponent would pick me out and rush through the clones (getting chewed up) and get to me half baked.

I don’t know if it worked 100%. I killed plenty in small scale fights but then some friends in TS suggested perhaps it’s that they are trying to find me and don’t expect me in the Mad King outfit (they are looking for someone who looks like clones?).

Anyhow it was a GREAT WvW night and I now do it whenever I WvW.

One side note though, forgot to turn it off in sPvP and it doesn’t work there LOL!

LOL, JQ will beat TC. I’m from TC and if you look back on the forums you will find in week 1 of the tournament players form JQ saying they are losing due to the fact they don’t have havokers.

Not saying it’s impossible for JQ to win, but it doesn’t take an act of philanthropy!

Before I get started I want it to be noted that my server is TC.

There has been a terrible injustice. The servers in your NA Gold league (more specifically your T1 servers) have played more politics than anything else this tournament due to your point system.

I will not go into the great detail regarding your point system’s flaws but will say the biggest crime was SOS, a server that cannot compete in T1, would have received 2nd place and either JQ or TC could have potentially received up to 5th place.
This injustice led to JQ and TC holding hands to ensure we received top 3 placing (which we deserve). This hand holding has reduced my WvW experience from a fantastic fight to the death to a WvW champ train (and I do not like the champ train).
I play for TC and absolutely hate this partnership, I can’t imagine what it must be like for BG (and yes, I, like everyone else don’t like BG but I think we can ALL agree, they deserve better then this).

I am a havoker, there is no place for me in this champ train. There is no place for havoking in general. While all the other tiers enjoy a good fight to the death and can take pride in there score (whatever there score may be at least it is wholly their’s). I have to “champ train” for the meta and in the end, T1 is an embarrassment, where else has this hand holding/political/let’s be friends nonsense taken place.

Putting JQ with us this in T1 this week was clever, odds are BG will go to T2 for 2 weeks where it doesn’t have to be double teamed, though those in T2 are going to suffer a terrible stomping. I know we cannot undo what’s been done, and my old friends from the bronze league have been enjoying themselves fighting tooth and nail so the system does work, we just needed more then 6 servers for the Gold league.

I’m not going to rant about how I will be quitting or anything like that (I have a lil over 6k AP and have been playing since 10/2012, I like the game) but I hope the next tournament will be a WvW War instead of WvW politics.

From a TC hvker to BG, my apologies, you and I both deserved more. I’d rather lose fighting than win holding hands.

I use gs/staff in wvw 0/20/0/30/20 berserker armor + weapons. I use sigil of Fire on gs for extra dmg and when I’m about to get swarmed I switch to staff with sigil of hydromancy (buys me 3 secs to put out clones/run/say goodbye).

I have restorative illusions to trickle in some hp but the majority of my build centers around the fact that NO ONE can fight a Zerg alone. If I get attacked by a Zerg I die 4 secs faster than if I had a bunch of toughness.

I win a fair amount of 1v1 and get a very healthy amount of bags in wvw.
