Greatsword: Spectrum
Special effects: Creates a rainbow coloured paintbrush-like effect when you spin the greatsword.
Hmm bedroom specialisation…
Lord Faren can be in my bed any day in that case. Giggity
Since we only have 3 that we know about (in terms of traits, skills etc. yes I know there’s tempest for ele and blah blah blah but we don’t know what it’ll bring yet), I’ll rank out of 3:
1. Dragon Hunter (I like using bows and I look forward to using this)
2. Chronomancer (although I don’t use Mesmer much I think the traits will be fun)
3. Reaper (I’m not into close-ranged combat, and I don’t really like the fact everything is basically all about the ‘chill’ condition. There’s more to a specialisation that just ONE condition y’know)
I confess I have mini southsun farens out on all my characters because there’s a lack of male skimpy in this game and someone needs to do their part in making the world a skimpier place.
I’m hoping warriors get a staff with some aoe auto attack like guardian. Though I have a feeling it will be some main hand or off hand rubbish.
Tomes of knowledge and level 20 scrolls for levelling your future revenants
And XP boosters for new characters
Don’t know why I’m bothering to post yet another graphic bug considering the last one I posted still hasn’t been fixed, so I won’t bother with all the details this time because there’s no point. All I’ll say is that one eye here is correctly coloured (celestial), whilst the other is some weird light blue colour.
Also on the character select screen, his eyes are completely shut.

Not sure how you missed the fact that only Reapers get it.
I figured the whole ‘chill on fear’ thing may have been applied to all other trait lines, because there have been other classes like the elementalist where a trait (like blasting staff) was just added in as a feature to the ele, rather than a trait. So I figured with the Reaper being, what seems like, all about the chill condition, it may have been applied to fear all across the board like they did with the blasting staff trait, but my fears (excuse the pun) have been addressed now and it seems only to be with the Reaper, so I just won’t be able to run Reaper when I also want to fear people off ledges etc. as it would be counter productive to my build.
I have bad memory lol. If chill is only being applied to fear when using Reaper specialisation, then that’s good and understandable, I just won’t run Reaper. Thanks for the clarification!
After watching the Reaper specialisation livestream and looking over the traits and skills, and despite myself personally not looking forward to the specialisation simply because I’m not that into up-close-combat and all (to each their own), there was one thing I was particularly worried about, and that was the emphasis on the amount of the ‘chill’ condition used in the traits and skills – in particular, fear.
For me, I only use fear when I want to push players off a ledge or cliff, like in Edge of the Mists. It’s so much fun. However, with fear getting ‘chill’ (I assume and hope it’s only for the Reaper specialisation and isn’t forced onto normal trait lines and fear skills), I just really don’t understand why it’s been done this way because to me, it sounds like it’s actually a hindrance.
After all, when you want to fear someone, it’s usually because you want to push them off something – and by slowing them down with ‘chill’, you’re actually making the skill worse.
What I suggest is at least one trait somewhere that, when using fear, it actually speeds up the movement of your enemy, rather than slowing their movement down.
I’m not suggesting to remove all the chill aspects of the necro/reaper (I know some people won’t read this far which is why I’m mentioning this disclaimer-of-sorts before people accuse me of suggesting the removal of chill from necro/reaper), rather, add an alternative trait that speeds up the enemy when using fear, specifically. This way you have a greater chance of successfully pushing them off said area.
TL;DR: I’m worried about chill being added to fear – when you want to push players off something, you want them to be pushed off as fast as possible, not as slow as possible. I suggest an additional/alternative trait which speeds up the movement of enemies that are feared.

I HATE the ‘chill on fear’ idea SO much. Especially in WvW – this is going to be so stupid.
If I want to fear people off a ledge, I want them to be feared off that ledge as fast as possible. Not as slow as possible. If Anet make it so that all fear skills use chill, I’m just not going to use my necro anymore (apart from perhaps the pvp dailies, but that’s about it).
I seriously hope this is ONLY for the specialisation – otherwise the fear skill just got officially nerfed in my eyes.
I’m having the exact same problem :-/
Ghostbuster or Ghost Hunter it will be.
‘High end’ names by Anet standards.
You heard it here first
I’m really disappointed. We haven’t really had an update for months now, and just when I think today they’ll at least reveal the juicy bits of the necro spec, all we get is a few things added back to the gemstore and a reminder about the dragon hunter ready up… Like, really?
This has me extremely worried about the future of gw2. I can see why some have left and moved onto other games :-/
No no no… it’s Ghostbuster
I’ll just leave this here… the real name of the specialisation.
If the last spec name is anything to go by, and as suggested by a player on gw2 reddit whom I agree with, I too think the necro spec will be Ghostbuster (because illogic reasons of dragon hunter).
1) Because some armor looks a hell of a lot better than the male version.
2) Because I don’t want ALL my characters to be guys – I like variety
3) Animations (like female ele using a staff) look better than guys
Quite a few reasons tbh.
Anet should also bring back the “Storm bow” from gw1, as a skin for gw2 while they’re at it – it would suit the guardian spec perfectly!!!
I like the names Paragon and Templar. And Paragon suits the guardian specialisation considering there’s a virtue and/or skill to do with spears, and there’s a wing animation too.
The ready up for the guardian spec looked really nice. I’m not usually into traps – tried them on my ranger, didn’t like them. But these ones on guardian look quite nice. Love the spinning blades trap and the swords-of-revealing-light looking #5 bow skill.
Still don’t really like the name. Doesn’t make any sense. In the trailer the player was killing a dinosaur. I mean dinosaurs are sort of like dragons without wings, but still… not technically slaying a dragon. And isn’t everyone a dragon hunter? cough Zhaitan cough.
I think the name needs a change. It’s my only beef with it. Chronomancer sounds great for Mesmer, so does Tempest for Ele, Dragonhunter just doesn’t feel right. I’d much rather prefer Paragon or some other more fitting name.
Well, it’s now tomorrow and Anet still haven’t gotten their act together with this. I just tried with paypal this time and STILL no luck.
Say goodbye to $100 Anet. I’m done. You missed out.
Here’s a suggestion for Anet: Fix the gem store.
We still can’t buy gems with credit cards.
Yours sincerely,
everyone
Would actually be helpful if Anet allowed us to buy gems.
#Gemstorestillbrokenandwontacceptcreditcards
Same problem here.
Tbh I’m getting sick and tired of these constant ‘error please try again later’ messages.
Anet If you want our money, please fix it once and for all. I don’t have time for this error garbage.
Clearly my money isn’t wanted… Oh well! I’ll take it elsewhere if it isn’t fixed a.s.a.p.
(edited by Zaoda.1653)
Same here. Tried twice with 2 different credit cards. Both received errors. Filled in everything perfectly. Don’t know what’s wrong because it isn’t anything wrong on my end. Had this exact problem last time and it seems they still haven’t fixed it. I’m annoyed at how buying gems is so f’ing frustrating to get with these constant error messages. If this isn’t solved by tomorrow I’m not buying any gems & Anet miss out – it’s as simple as that.
They clearly don’t want my money. I don’t have the time and patience for this error stuff.

I don’t see any difference in drop rates at all. So I’m no longer getting hyped about the possibility of getting one. Will continue playing as normal with no hopes of getting one.
They don’t call it the mystic toilet for nothing!
Hence why I’ve never attempted to get a precursor from it. RNG just does not favour me.
This is something I’d like to see for the summer season (as outfits):
MEN
sunglasses
towel cape
swimming trunks/speedo
sandalsWOMEN
sunhat
towel cape
bikini/one piece bathing suits
flip flops
Yes please. A lord faren outfit (wearing nothing but his famous speedo’s) and a kasmeer outfit (what the mini southsun kasmeer wears)
I never said we didn’t have feathered or that males never had any skimpy lol…
I say ‘finally’ because it’s been donkey years since we’ve had anything remotely skimpy for males. Feathered has been out since launch, yes, and probably the last bit of skimpy we received was the raiment of the lich (showing abs). The feathered top is nice in how much skin it reveals, but I don’t like the long sleeves.
This looks much better, and although I still wish we didn’t have the long sleeves that go along with this outfit, it’s at least better looking than the feathered long sleeves imo.
And yes this isn’t The Sims – gold medal on spotting that XD but luckily this is also a game where they can put in whatever they want, despite however different our fashion tastes may be. Heck, I think it’s odd seeing the countess anise outfit on a female charr because it just looks like a very humanesque outfit rather than a charr outfit, but you won’t see me protesting those wearing it lol. Different strokes for different folks.
(edited by Zaoda.1653)
Yeah it looks very elegant-elf-esque almost. I think mesmers in particular will rock this outfit very well.
you got me all excited and then disappointed since it’s still not much… but a welcome addition.
Yeah, woulda been nice for a bit more skimpy in the leg department but I mean I’ll take whatever I can get – and abs are good :-P cause heavy class ALWAYS gets the majority of the skimpy skins, so it’ll be nice for my light armored males to get something.
I love it and I’m going to buy it as soon as it’s released.
By the way, it’s in the outfit panel already so if you want to preview it in game you can.
Oh awesome ty :-D
[&DBUAAAA=] Daydreamer’s Finery
[disclaimer: this is not out yet – it was datamined by a player who I won’t name because he gets a bad wrap for these things when he’s just trying to help us]
You can also preview this in the ‘outfits’ tab in-game – thanks to those who pointed this out in the thread.
FINALLY something with a bit of skimpy for males. A million times thank you to anet for this.
The outfit seems to have 4 dye channels – the gem looking areas are dyeable.
Please continue making more male skimpy – perhaps another one with a bit more leg muscle? :-P
And please let’s not turn this into a ‘zomg it’s another outfit rage@@@@1111 ima show them with my wallet I refuse to buy X from now on’ thread. There’s plenty of them out there. We get it, you don’t like them. Some of us do like outfits so. Let’s just take a moment to celebrate the fact we’ll finally see some male skimpy being available to all classes for once in a blue moon.
(edited by Zaoda.1653)
And so the Mesmer troll portals begin… Eeeeek!
I’m glad in a way that nothing in the Arcane trait line takes my fancy – especially now that the blasting staff trait is being added as simply a bonus for being ele – something that I think should have been like this right from day 1.
I’m looking forward to putting my points into fire as usual, earth sounds nice so I might roll with that as well, and probably air for the extra dmg. But in the end it comes down to what the final product looks like, and only then I can decide for sure what traits I want.
I’m ready. Although I think OP forgot to mention one of the good things – some traits are being merged, so while quite a few will be removed, some are being combined. People need to know this because it’s not all doom and gloom.
My only two worries with specialisations though are 1) what traits will be removed (rather than combined) and how it affects my current build/s, and 2) having to buy different armor stats now that our base stats are being upped and the bonuses from the trait lines (power/condition dmg etc.) are being removed so that what stats you get simply come from your armor and weapons. As it is, for my ele, I already receive some vitality, toughness and a few others just because I have points in those trait lines. Might have to invest in some more ascended armor now because of this update as I’ll probably be too berserkery now with little to no vitality and toughness once this rolls out.
Edit: forgot about my 3rd worry – not being able to put lesser traits into greater trait slots like the grandmaster one etc. (which doesn’t make sense in theory, because if you’re a grandmaster in, say, fire magic, you should be able to use any lesser trait in a higher trait if you so choose to) – this could see quite a few builds nerfed. Only time will tell I guess. I just hope the traits that are being merged compliment each other, so that every single trait you choose, will benefit you, rather than giving you one thing you DO want, but something else you don’t necessarily need.
(edited by Zaoda.1653)
Imperial Outfit on my female norn. Pic was taken a while back, I do now have the golden lion dye. Other dyes are celestial and enamelled reign.
(edited by Zaoda.1653)
I agree with the crafter transfer thing. I have a norn guardian that I don’t use anymore, and want to delete, but can’t, because she’s got 500 armorsmith – something I spent quite a bit on getting and don’t want to chuck out anytime soon. So until such a thing exists, she’s just wasting precious alt space >_<
I already pay more than my fair share through the gemstore. If I had to pay a subscription on top of that, I would just quit.
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Class: Mesmer (Light armor)
Description:
I noticed the armor clipping when using a total makeover kit on him – the clipping seemed to disappear when changing his body shape/size of my character to the slimmest possible human, but I didn’t want a scrawny looking mesmer (I think the slimmest one didn’t have any issues from memory, but I didn’t want a skinny mesmer!).
I went with a broader shoulder and more bulkier mesmer. I knew the bigger body shape had some slight clipping issues but went along with it anyway because that was the look I was going for and it was the body shape I wanted.
The clipping issues are around the heritage mantle (shoulder piece) clipping into the shoulders of the ascalonian performer vestments (top), thighs clipping into the dangly bits of the inquest breeches (pants), and some slight clipping with the chaos greatsword to the right of the heritage mantle on the back of the character.
This doesn’t have to be a priority (I know y’all are busy with HoT), but I certainly would love it if it were to be resolved one day, when there is time, so that he looks as best as he possibly can
Many thanks in advance.
Edit: Forgot to mention the armor and weapons:
Mask of the Jubilee
Heritage Mantle
Ascalonian Performer Vestments
Radiant Vambraces
Inquest Breeches
Illustrious Footwear
Chaos Greatsword
(edited by Zaoda.1653)
I found a look I really loved, so I bought a total makeover kit and changed the gender and name of my Mesmer. I’m extremely happy with this look and consider him complete now. I like the fact that every single piece he’s wearing is different too, despite it looking all from the same armor.
He’s wearing:
Armor:
Mask of the Jubilee (gemstore mask)
Heritage Mantle (skin unlocked from my GW1 achievements)
Ascalonian Performer Vestments (ascalon dungeon armor)
Radiant Vambraces (I wanted a ‘chaos gloves’ look :P)
Inquest Breeches (inquest dungeon armor)
Illustrious Footwear (ascended boots)
Weapons:
chaos greatsword/chaos scepter and Spirit Links
I want a Lord Faren speedo onesie outfit. Would pay a good amount of gems for it.
Edit: and yes, we definitely need the other gods armor as outfits too.
This is one of my main worries with that legendary. I’m thinking about getting the juggernaut for my future revenant, however the metallic mercury effect seems to cover everything – including textures and such, which makes it all sort of like one big onesie – in this case, the lava bits got covered too.
Though having said that, I guess it would look a bit odd having a metallic looking character and random non-metallic lava bits on it at the same time, so maybe that’s why Anet made it that way for the Balthazar outfit? Don’t know.
Would be cool to pick and choose which parts you want the metallic effect on. I guess it’s wishful thinking though :-/ would also be cool to have the metallic armor effect when the weapon is stowed too! Though each to their own…
(edited by Zaoda.1653)
Would be epic if Anet turned that empty 4th slot into one for dying the lava bits. Could imagine my necro rocking shadow abyss dyed Balthazar with bright green bits :-D
So this just happened today – again, in EOTM. I tellied to Heart of the Mists to gather my thoughts afterwards >_<
Turning chat off forever now (except the guild that I’m in that’s LGBT friendly cause no one says stuff like this ever, there).
I’m so sick and tired of this. Random pm’s from people saying I’m ‘kinda gay’ now? I don’t need this shyte.
#goodbyechat
they need to put this in the store already
I agree XD I’ve been waiting for this for sooooo long now. Don’t even want to wait till Wednesday for it (Tuesday for others). Wanted it ever since it was datamined.
I completely agree. I think I’d rock more radiant and hellfire if they had some dye options. The silver part particularly on the radiant makes it very limited as to what you can wear. And the black in the hellfire limits you as to what black dyes you can use (mainly ‘pitch’ works alright, but what if you want the darkest of dark? Like shadow abyss?).
+1
I’ve been wanting more male skimpy since the beginning of GW2, but like the OP has said, it seems heavy armored males get all the fun – they have the scallywag chest and pit fighter chest which shows a nice amount of skin. Medium and Light class males get literally next to nothing. Especially light armored males.
My future revenant is going to be wearing the scallywag chest because I want to show a bit of skin, but unfortunately for my male ele and ranger, they don’t have that privilege.
Even an option to hide our chestpiece would be awesome – in fact awesome for ALL armor pieces.
And I would pay 2k gems for a lord faren speedo leg skin. Just sayin’. Make it happen Anet! ;-)
