This item should be very helpful to people who only have one or two main characters with multiple crafting skills unlocked on them.
For a player with 5 mains with all crafting skills unlocked across them? Not so much.
Have to wait and see if ANet puts in a way to obtain it again. Maybe with a new PvP reward track that also gives out the Tribal armor skin?
Yeah, I’m in the same situation. I deleted the basic version since I had no bank space left at the time, but kept the flaming version (which had better stats). I honestly feel that if you have the flaming version, the basic version should also be unlocked for you. While it isn’t a direct skin progression, in order to get the flaming version, you HAD to have completed the quest that gave you the basic version, meaning you had it at one point.
But as mentioned above, I’d be OK with ANet just giving us a way to get the skins again this Halloween.
Don’t have a Sylvari Ranger, but as I always support more cosmetic options for players…

SAB may become permanent content when World 4 is released. At least, I hope so.
But more than likely it will become seasonal content similar to the festivals. Which is still OK, by my books.
If your group has super-good DPS, stack her in the corner and melt her down. If your group does not or is too squishy to survive the stack, then kite her around the courtyard and range/melee her down according to your preferences.
Adapt to the situation as needed.
I PUG 99% of my dungeon runs (the last 1% are guild runs, but since my guild is US-based, and I live in Australia, I rarely get to play with them), and my experience is largely the same as rfdarko’s. You get some awesome PUGs, you get some horrid PUGs, and you get ones in between. I almost always start my own runs, and I teach newbies what to do in encounters if needed. They never end up being speed runs, but it’s fast enough for my tastes and you get to meet some interesting people (or end up with some interesting stories) by the end. (Sometimes they even end up teaching me new tricks or methods I hadn’t previously known about!)
Unless the starter ragequits the instance (an event which I can count on one hand the number of times it’s happened), I always end up finishing a dungeon/Fractal I started. Sometimes it takes WAY longer than I expected (and I’ll freely admit that this does make me grumpy), but since I only tend to do dungeons infrequently, I guess this doesn’t really “wear me down”. I can see how it might frustrate players who do dungeons every single day, but I think this is not too dissimilar from, say, a customer service rep who’s jaded from years of helping stupid people over and over. (In which case, maybe it’s time for a sea change? Try another game mode, or even another game. Aside from the Living Story, GW2 is a game you can come back to at any time.)
Probably an unintended oversight from last year when the Cliffs were a level 80 zone.
Unfortunately he’s the only vendor on the map, but at least LA/DR are just a NPC chat away.
@Lilith: Lucky you! I wish I had a mysterious admirer to gift me that recipe too.
Anyway, it’s Day 2 since the patch and supply has already climbed to more than 20 (from just 6 at the same time yesterday). Prices are almost at the 100g range, and like I said, there’s still 4 weeks to go till the Pavilion goes away. I doubt the recipe’s price will collapse completely, but it’s definitely not going to increase again any time soon. (Not to mention there’s a good chance this recipe will come back again the next time the Pavilion returns, so it’s not something I’d be comfortable investing in.)
I find that you usually don’t have time to throw more than one orb though (either Liadri catches up to you, or you need to run because of shadowfalls). But that said, killing off multiple Visions at once does also give you more space to maneuver, so that can be helpful in its own right.
The centaurs use the same death grunts as the Jotun now, which I find a bit disconcerting. :/
I’m sure that it should be. Report it as a bug to Support.
Possibly a dumb question, but make sure you’re also in the Crafting panel and not the Discovery panel. (I’ve done that a few times!)
…
So they actually made the Black Lion Chests into a slot machine… I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. XD
Hmm… While I appreciate the ability to save more bank space, it really doesn’t seem useful enough to drop gems on it. (Not to mention I used up a bunch of my boosters trying for 8 Orbs on Liadri, so the problem is less acute now.)
I’m with the above. It’s probably going to be part of Dragon Bash.
It probably won’t happen for a while. I’m willing to bet that the number of players with 300% MF is an exceedingly small fraction of the population, and there’s not much point in ANet introducing new sinks for Luck for such a small group.
It is entirely possible that the Jade Sea is not thawing at all, and people are simply misinterpreting increased amounts of real water in the Jade Sea (from hundreds of years of precipitation and runoff) as the sea thawing, when it actually isn’t the case at all.
It could make mining the jade increasingly difficult as water levels rise though.
Just about every single JP I can think of can be portaled. The most in-demand ones would probably be the difficult ones like Not So Secret and Skipping Stones (tough for some due to latency issues).
Only if they exempt phantasms and minions from it too.
Maybe not THAT low, but we still have 4 weeks to go. That’s a lot of time for farmers to get to work.
Plus, it’s only the first day. Right now the market is still likely trying to figure out the new equilibrium, and there’s still 4 more weeks to go.
The one on the eastern cliffs was the most frustrating for me. >.< Soooo many overshots due to ping…
Bunny stomp is best stomp! ^^
I never make assumptions about a player’s skill from their gear. I’ve seen level 1 characters in starter gear wreak total havoc in a match, and level 80’s in Legendaries who lost horribly to me. (And I’m not a very good PvP player, so that’s really saying something!)
I guess we won’t really know until we head to Cantha for ourselves. My guess is that the areas farthest from the Harvest Temple might be undergoing thawing, but the closer we get to the epicenter, the more lingering magic from Shiro’s scream remains.
Almost certainly, yes.
And by extension, now that supply is closed off, expect Set 2 prices to rise slightly.
I noticed this too. O.o Part of it might be the bandwagon effect (“Gem→Gold price is dropping! Quick, I’d better sell while prices are still high’ish!”), but I really can’t think of any solid reason as to why there might be a sudden sell-off of gems…
Unless… Lots of people bought gems for the new finisher/BLKeys and then sold off whatever excess they had left after their purchase?
The exchange rate went back down again.
Guess it’s back to waiting till ANet releases more “must-have” stuff for players.
Well, this marks the first account-wide upgrade I won’t be getting. XD I have 5 characters with all the crafting disciplines spread across them, so I really have no reason to unlock a third crafting discipline on them.
Charrzooka! Bigger is sometimes better
I’d like it more if it didn’t constantly clip into the ground beneath me. >.<
Because there’s still so much I have left to do.
1. I still haven’t finished mapping the world. (Currently up to Sparkfly Fen. Still haven’t been to Orr!)
2. Still haven’t finished the Personal Story.
3. Still haven’t done any dungeons above SE.
4. Still haven’t gotten my T3 Cultural armors.
5. Still haven’t reached r500 crafting.
Meh, I’m flexible. If groups want to range her in the open, sure. If groups want to stack her in the corner, sure. The stack method is faster, but the Queen is still pretty darn easy if you range her provided you know how to dodge. (And if you don’t, you really shouldn’t be doing dungeons.
) I’m OK with whatever the group wants to do.
Sounds like a bad move to me. I liked the idea of the Wurm having different “teams” with different roles. Like Eladamri, I was thrilled that condi users were in demand for the Wurm. It was nice to have ANet embrace builds that weren’t focused purely around the “moar deeps!” playstyle.
No, I think Food and Nourishment should stay.
BUT… The game should never be designed with the bonuses from consumables factored in (i.e. the devs should never make it so that you’re expected to use consumables to win a fight or complete content).
Interesting… I wonder if they also reduced Empyreal Shards from Edge of the Mists/WvW activities?
Either way, like laokoko, I’m suddenly glad that I hoarded up all my Ascended mats. XD I actually made some calculations and figured that I have enough Bloodstone Dust for all the Ascended gear I could ever want to craft on my 5 mains, and am closing in on Empyreal Fragments (about 80%). Dragonite Ore, however, is only about 50% of the way there.
I’m pleased for the event bug fixes for the sole reason that I hate seeing bugged events, and it gives me hope that many of the other bugged events throughout the world will get looked at someday.
(My current #1 irk; the Devouring the Brand meta-event in Iron Marches is constantly bugged.)
Reflects are fine and exist in other games including MMORPGs.
What is not fine is to halve the hp of a single boss by reflecting his projectiles.
I basically agree with this. However, I’m worried that the approach taken by ANet leads more towards destroying the usefulness of reflects. I think that reflects should still work on bosses, but damage caused by reflect skills is capped at a certain amount of damage based on the player’s attributes.
I DO think that the other dungeon paths need to get a rework to match AC’s rewards (more for consistency than anything else), but other than that, I agree that increasing the raw gold rewards from dungeons would have more negative than positive consequences.
Cool, thanks for the confirmation.
At least now I know I can relog to go repair my armor if I need to, even if I started the instance.
I don’t feel bad either. This is the flip side of speculation. You can mitigate the risk by having experience about game trends and when patches go live (see Vol’s post), but you also never know. ANet could decide something was urgent enough to hotfix it over a weekend, which has happened before.
Anyway, now that the chances have increased, I’m going to start farming for the recipe for my own use. Or, if I don’t have any luck, I’m sure that by the end of the event prices will be down to 20g or less, and I can just buy one.
So it looks like the chances got increased from one in hundreds of thousands to one in thousands. Still quite rare, but at least the price is within a more acceptable range now.
I even failed to pass the first tier the last time… and my only lvl 80 char is… well… her equipment pretty much is horrible. I only got one exotic weapon, a warhammer. Full clad in yellows crafted.
It gonna be impossible, isn’t?
Last year I beat Liadri with a Warrior using level 78 Masterworks and a smattering of Rares.
(Still took me 70+ tickets though…) It’s possible. Good equipment helps, but your build and individual skill means much more.
JS has a firm track record of not giving away anything in his forum posts (his blog posts on the GW2 website are another matter) that could affect the market (for good or ill), so it could still go either way.
Called it! XD
Thanks for adjusting the drop rate, ANet. Having the CoL recipe be so ludicrously rare was really inconsistent with the rest of the Gods’ backpieces.
I even have a suspicion that the reason JS didn’t tip his hand early (and let prices be so high for a while) was to deliberately have it be so expensive for a short time so some rich bigwigs would buy it for 2000+ gold and thus suck out huge amounts of gold from the economy via TP fees.
Anyway, I’ve still got 200+ Gauntlet tickets left. Time to go farm for my recipe.
@Hydroclasm: I’m not sure either, unless the Visions do their explosion damage in multiple packets and perhaps a single hit block skill does not work. (I was on my Warrior, but it’s possible that Shield Stance wore off just as the last Vision hit me.) To be safe, I’d still use your block skills primarily for avoiding shadowfalls and not the Visions.
Still not fixed, huh? Back to waiting for the next patch in hopes it’s finally fixed. :/
@Draknar: I’ve seen two separate Kegmasters, and you can bet there’s more out there in the game.
Another title I rarely see nowadays is Emissary of the Mad King, although it usually goes up around Halloween.
Bloomanoo did talk once about heading further south. Maybe they’re in Bloodtide Coast now? (Although why they’d want to head there, I have NO idea. There’s pirates, Risen and the Triple Wurm there now. Head even more south and you have Tequatl. :P)
“Rise from your grave! And rescue my daugh-” Whoops, wrong game.
