I’d buy it, but 2000 gems is awfully cheap for something that could see tremendous amounts of use. If one were to go on sale (BIG “if”…), I expect the price would be even higher. Like 5000 gems or so.
… That’s a darn good point, Aerinndis! Maybe I should be wary about splurging on my accumulated Charged Quartz Crystals (and normal Crystals) until I see what r500 Jeweler will bring.
I’d change it so that they have a chance to drop from Risen Giants, while Champion Giants (like the ones in Diessa Plateau and Harathi Hinterlands) give a guaranteed drop, similar to how adult Karka always give a guaranteed Karka Shell.
Supported. I don’t understand why male Charr would get the dragon tail, but females don’t. :/
I suppose I’ll be getting a Sovereign weapon, since I neither collect tonics nor minipets, but I am somewhat annoyed at the extra gold cost on top of the Favor.
Professions with single target melee weapons like Thieves and Necros also excel against Shurakk, since they can effectively ignore his Hawks and just go to town on him anyway.
For Boom Boom, send your Zerkers to her. The faster they can burn down her turret, the easier she’ll be.
Likewise, condition/ranged builds work better against Kuraii since he’s constantly running away, and ranged attackers can hug the walls to avoid most of the trampling centaurs.
I have to admit, I was baffled by the fact that male Charr get the dragon, but female Charr don’t. :/ Wasn’t getting the outfit anyway, but it seems unfair to me.
Based on past experience, it’ll either be here for another week (2 week schedule) or 3 weeks (4 week schedule). Either way, if you’re after the achievements, better get cracking on them.
Easy way out for Anet.
Email everyone in game the recipe.
Yes those who spent gold++++ be upset, but…..
Nah. I think it’s more likely they’ll make it so you can exchange 100…250 Gauntlet tickets for the recipe.
I think Sligh’s example is showing how it’s supposed to work now. ANet’s intention is that you must have one equipped Bloodlust sigil on your equipped weapons at all times for the stacks to remain. The old method of equip BL weapon, get 25 stacks, unequip BL weapon was unintended.
That said, there’s two possible bugs here which both have arguments for being valid:
1. You have BL on a land weapon, but not on the underwater weapon. Build 25 stacks on land, jump into water. Stacks disappear.
2. You have BL on an underwater weapon, but not on your land weapons. Build 25 stacks underwater, head onto land. Stacks remain.
So there’s an inconsistency here. Either the land → water is bugged and the stacks SHOULD remain (you haven’t unequipped your land weapon with the BL sigil, after all), or the water → land is bugged and the stacks should disappear (ANet intends for us to have a BL sigil on both our land weapons and our underwater weapons.)
So! The answer we need from ANet is, “Which scenario is correct?”
It IS dropping (TP is bugged and not showing the correct stats unless you actually go in and view the item), but it’s exceedingly rare. I DO agree that the drop rate is too rare, however; it’s a recipe for an account bound item!
Urmaug only seems to say that if you didn’t kill Scarlet on your Sylvari. I did on mine, and Urmaug had only praise for her.
It’d be the perfect backpiece for my Human Female Mesmer.
But yeah, I imagine there’s a lot of interest in it due to the fact that its rarity means it’s become a status symbol of wealth. If ANet made it drop more often, you can bet interest in it would go way down.
It was probably intended for mass organised events like Tequatl or Triple Wurm, where someone drops it for the entire map to use. However, the insane cost of one of these means no one’s ever gonna craft one. It’d be cheaper for everybody to just buy their own copy of the consumable. :P
As a MM, you should have a fairly easy time with this fight. Have all your minions focus on Chomper, and keep your snares/CC’s handy. (Flesh Golem Charge, Fears, Chills/Cripple to slow Chomper down etc.)
If you’re going for the achievement, you’ll have to hope for a bit of luck since Strugar sometimes throws the meat right at Chomper’s feet. Not much you can do about that. :/
I wouldn’t mind it staying, so /supported.
Are you looking in the Discovery pane as opposed to the Crafting pane?
^ Scarlet, you suffered the EXACT same fate I did. XD My Guru password got stolen, but I thought I was safe too since my game password was exponentially more complex. But I also forgot that I’d created an NCSoft Master account years ago and forgotten that it even existed.
Lesson learned now. EVERY site/forum/game I have a login for has a unique password.
Easiest way is to press B and look at the scoreboard and see which team you’re on.
Technically, you can already duel in PvE. Just drink a tonic or activate your town clothes and away you go in Costume Brawl!
On a more serious note, I don’t mind having dueling in PvE as long as there’s also a way for you to set your PvP flag to off. (And an option to report people who keep harassing you to duel.)
I didn’t mind it. It was a once off message, and I think it could actually have been a useful heads-up to people who don’t pay attention to forums, the login window messages etc.
Ugh, no thanks. I remember the Six Minutes to Knightfall achievement. I’m glad that we didn’t have a similar achievement this time around.
If we want to encourage people to aim for Silver/Gold completion, then we should make it so that more delicious rewards potentially drop from those. For example:
Bronze reward:
- 6 Champ Bags
- 40 Tokens
- Rare chance of a Pavilion Favor (otherwise, you get a Masterwork item)
Silver reward:
- 8 Champ Bags
- 60 Tokens
- Rare chance of a Pavilion Favor (otherwise, you get a Masterwork/Rare item)
- Rare chance of a Chaos of Lyssa recipe
Gold reward:
- 10 Champ Bags
- 80 Tokens
- Rare chance of a Pavilion Favor (otherwise, you get a Masterwork/Rare item)
- Rare chance of a Chaos of Lyssa recipe (otherwise, you get a Rare/Exotic item)
- Rare chance of a Sovereign weapon skin (can be sold on the TP)
I think the outrage was more about the fact that you could buy what was effectively T3 armor (or an even cooler model, depending on your opinion) for gems at a much cheaper amount than the 100+ gold you’d normally need to spend.
Nope. But kudos to you for attempting it. Reminds me of old-school Diablo days. XD
I saw someone running around with the hammer yesterday. I was a Norn female at a distance and I could not catch up to see it properly.
Is it really the biggest hammer in game?
The hammer head comparative to the rest of the weapon isn’t the biggest (that honor probably goes to Entropy/Genesis), but as a general size ratio when compared to the wielder’s body, the Phoenix Hammer is massive.
I levelled my characters by doing map completions of all low-level maps, then moving up to the next set once I was done, along with harvesting, killing mobs and doing events. I was about level 17 when I completed the starter map, about level 33 when I completed all the starter maps. By the time I reached level 80, I was only just finishing the level 15 – 25 maps!
As your own post says, ignore the forums and play what you want. Yes, speed clear groups exist, but you don’t need to join them. There are plenty of “all welcome” groups available for doing dungeons/Fractals etc.
I like the ideas, so thumbs up for those.
The Siege Towers might be especially fun as something for defensive ballistas to destroy.
Staff, Rifle, Shield and Sword, in my opinion.
The Hammer also gets a special mention for being the biggest hammer in the game.
My female Norn is a Ranger (and now happily running around in Strider’s gear.
), so I can’t help you out, but hopefully you manage to find that perfect outfit for her!
Somewhat back on topic, there’s actually hints in-game now of a growing anti-Sylvari racist movement by various Lion’s Arch residents who see Sylvari as potentially treacherous/dangerous individuals. There’s a new pair of Lionguard whose patrol route starts at Fort Mariner. Follow them around (it’s a long walk), and at the end there’s an interesting confrontation where one of them tries to arrest/kill a Sylvari on the false allegation that they’re a looter.
Yeah, Rox obviously has some lingering PTSD/abandonment issues due to being the sole survivor of her first warband, but I like that about her. It gives her character.
Well, if the Khan-Ur still existed, he/she’d be the final arbiter of Imperator disagreements.
We’ll probably have more chances to record it as the event goes on and interest in the Pavilion wanes. To all lorehounds in the Pavilion, keep your PrintScrn button handy!
I have to admit that I have a somewhat selfish interest in hoping that players continue to be stubborn and not buy gems with cash. I want the exchange rate to rise to the point where I can get 10g for 100 gems, so I can start selling gems for gold.
I just did Ascalon fractal last night on 14. I can’t say I saw anything different at that level. There are now extra Ascalon mobs around the gate, but they’ve been there since a few patches ago. My group cleared them all before taking on Dulfy; they didn’t respawn after being killed.
We did have a Flame Legion Shaman ally now though. Was he always there? I’m used to only ever seeing Shadowblades and Axe Fiends/Bladestorms as allies. (The Shaman’s fire fields were awesome to have. XD)
I’d exchange them, unless you plan on using the Blade Shards to craft more Spinal Blades backpieces (which ARE actually the cheapest Ascended backpiece under current market prices). They can’t change the vendors now that people have unloaded their stockpiles without causing a lot of angst.
Beat her again on the weekend.
Took me 70+ tickets last year. Got it in just 12 this time.
Now to keep plugging away at that blasted Light Up the Darkness achievement…
I beat them fairly easily with my hybrid condi/MM build. Standard 4/0/6/4/0 build, Scepter/Focus+Staff as weapons. (I never even swapped to Staff though.)
My kill order was Stitches→Gunner→First Mate→Captain. The regen Stitches gives the others after death is negligible when you can spam Poison like no tomorrow. Gunner’s ability is pretty useless, and the First Mate’s poison doesn’t do much once the Captain is the only one left. I leave the Captain for last because the random dodges he gives the others is really, really annoying.
High DPS rangers with Rampage as One make Kieldia a joke.
Lich Form necros can also beat her fairly easily.
It does come down a bit to luck though. Sometimes the tornadoes all cluster on the other side of the arena and don’t come near you at all.
I have to agree with this. The new announcer just sounds so bored. XD
Thanks for the build ideas, guys!
I’ve beaten Liadri a couple of times now, but 8 orbs is still eluding me. I’ll try that Rabid Warrior build this week.
There are more than 40 regular Crystals (not sure how many), but as far as I know, there are only 10 Master Crystals.
As a player who obtained all those rewards the first time around, I’m all for newer players being given a chance to obtain stuff they missed the first time around. As early adopters, we had our time to enjoy stuff before “the masses” got their hands on it. People should like an item for its own sake, not out of a “I enjoy this item because I have it and you don’t” attitude.
Yeah, the loot is decent now, although trying to organise an overflow for Gold reward is still like herding cats.
It’s apparently also currently bugged so that the backpiece is Soulbound on creation, rather than Account Bound like all other Ascended gear. Keep trying to bring it to ANet’s attention so hopefully they’ll make it easier to get. :/ I also want one for my Human Mesmer.
It’s caused by our ping.
I’m playing from Australia on a US server, and this happens all the time for me too. What’s happening is that, due to our lag, the tether anchor is firing a split second later than better-connected players, with the result that we’re farther over the platform before the server stops our forward momentum, resulting in us plummeting to our deaths.
However, there is a workaround I’ve discovered which works on some of the platforms:
1. When you approach an area with a lightning tether, wait for about 10 seconds. The “attunement” fades after that time, and your Lightning Pull skill reverts back to its old targeted circle mechanic.
2. Aim the center of your targeting circle at the BASE of a flat side of the tether on the far platform. If done correctly, you’ll hurl yourself across the gap, but your forward momentum will be stopped by you impacting into the tether.
I managed to get a couple of crystals on otherwise unreachable platforms using this method, but sometimes the angle of the tethers or the distance to them (is too short) means that this method doesn’t work. In this case, you’ll either need to get a Mesmer to port you there, or look for another crystal. (There are more than 40 crystals scattered around the map, so you can afford to bypass a few that we can’t get due to our ping.)
Oy… >.< They need to fix that pronto, and hopefully also make the recipe easier to get. Such an exceedingly rare recipe for a soulbound/account bound item is ridiculous.
Most of the mobs in the Pavilion don’t give XP, so they won’t charge your sigils.
BUT… There are a few odd enemies in there that DO seem to give experience (and drop standard loot). These are ones like the Covington Pirates in Wiggin’s sector, which aren’t Veterans and don’t seem to transform back to Watchknights when they die. These do charge your sigils. Of course, tracking them down in the mess of enemies is usually more trouble than it’s worth.
