The China TP is completely separate from the NA/EU TP. Their demand/supply won’t affect ours in the slightest.
Yowza. O.o I wonder whether long-term the prices will rise or fall as more supply gets injected into the market…
Of course, this is all under the assumption that the Pavilion will return in a largely-unchanged form. Drop rates might be changed, or the enemies might be different.
But I expect Quartz, Watchwork Sprockets and their associated recipes to fall in price.
I agree we need to be able to do SOMETHING with them other than merch them for a depressingly small amount of coin.
My vote is for salvaging them for Dragonite + Ecto/Dark Matter.
I do think that rewards in the normal WvW maps should be boosted though. At least the Badges of Honor should be. I find it telling that I can spend an hour in EotM and earn almost 150+ Badges of Honor, yet an hour in Borderlands or EBG will only net me <50, and that’s if I’m lucky.
I gave up on trying to get the weapons too. :P RNG has never favoured me for stuff like this. On the other hand, I have a guildie who showed up to Wurm for the very first time, had no real clue what was going on, but he got the Ascended armor chest at the end.
RNG is RNG, but by the Six, she can be an unfair quaggan-lover sometimes. :P
^ They’ve changed that, I believe. Having two of the same stack sigil (e.g. Bloodlust + Bloodlust) no longer builds stacks twice as fast.
I’m more concerned about the fact that Suriel is apparently a Quaggan. >.>
It’s the same track you hear when fighting Mai, right? If so, it’s a GW1 soundtrack called “Kathandrax”.
I hope ANet fixes the floor so that the AoE circles are easier to see. (The new system of the solid orange circles should work perfectly.) Having the Gauntlet occur in an instanced area would also be a good move.
I thought the rewards were OK, since I viewed the Gauntlet more as an opportunity to test your skills and as bragging rights, as opposed to farming it for money.
Yes, this is why I constantly warn people against killing others before the timer officially starts. It bugs them out so they can’t get their credit/reward at the end of the match. If they continue to do it even after being warned, it counts as griefing and is a reportable offence.
If you do happen to get killed before the timer begins, the only way to reset it so you get credit is to exit the match and rejoin.
Obviously, they want it to work both ways. They want pure PvE’ers to start doing WvW and PvP, and they want pure PvP’ers to start doing PvE.
We do have a dev on record stating that he fully expects the Gauntlet achievements (NOT the Queen’s Jubilee ones) to return when the Gauntlet comes back. Of course, decisions might have changed between then and now.
Still, considering all of the SAB achievements were available again during Back to School, there’s still reason to be hopeful.
And if it’s not back? Eh, I’ll get over it. I managed to beat Liadri the first time around, so I’m content with that. I probably could have gotten it if my characters were properly geared at the time.
Racist/sexist/anti-religious/anti-LGBT attacks are almost certainly dealt with. Same goes for death threats. More general trash talking like “You suck, scrub!” probably wouldn’t receive action unless it was particularly bad or the person has gotten multiple flags on their account for antisocial behaviour.
@Snoring: It’s worth pointing out that there are some well-known grey market traders in the game who buy/sell certain items. However, these traders have been at it for a while and have built up their own reputation for trustworthiness by virtue of time and word of mouth. Nobody is going to trust some random guy offering to buy a Precursor for a suspiciously good price. If the grey market becomes flooded with people buying stuff through direct trades, that sense of “renown” would be very quickly buried.
I thought it was kind of a given that when you’re upgrading gear, you should always go for Masterwork quality as a minimum (good benefit/price point if you’re being frugal), but yeah, good point about the Blue/White gear.
While I like the ability for players to buy individual pieces if they want to, I think the prices for the Lawless pieces are too steep. (Fortunately I’m not taken with the look and wasn’t planning on getting it anyway.) 800 – 1000 gems is about as much as I’d pay for a full set of armor skins, so individual pieces would need to be commensurate for me to buy them.
That said, I hope that ANet is considering releasing more individual pieces for past armor sets. I still want a complete Toxic armor set for my Sylvari.
The skins you purchase from the WvW Weapon Master are unlocked in your Wardrobe as soon as you buy them. However, the skins themselves might possibly be soulbound (not sure. I’d have to check) to the character you bought them on. If this is the case, then yes, you’ll have to waste a Transmutation Charge instead of just using the skin.
Should we start complaining about the floor in the Queen’s Gauntlet now?
… I do hope they fixed that for this time around. >.>
Sooo… You want to pay MORE for your goods? O.o
They could dump the stupid blackout effect though; everybody just turns off post-processing to stop it happening anyway. :P
Looking forward to revisiting the Labyrinthine Cliffs and the Crown Pavilion!
Especially looking forward to finally completing that dang Light Up the Darkness achievement, and trading in my excess mats to help rebuild LA.
118 rank. 1 Ascended weapon chest. Then again, it was Apothecary stats.
Things are still quite competitive on NA T1, from what I can see. JQ made several strong attempts to take our keeps during night time (often with near-simultaneous assaults), but we managed to fight them off.
But yeah, we’re not seeing the multi-hundred queues we saw at the start anymore. I’m guessing that population is down now that most people have completed the meta, or they’ve gone back to EotM.
-shrug- If people think winning a battle is more important than winning the war, I’m not going to correct them.
I don’t think anybody’s ever asked for playable Dredge. XD
Apparently the upcoming Festival of the Winds release will have something to do with the rebuilding of LA, so we will get some answers within a week.
33 here. Been playing since the Atari 2600 days.
#Gamers4Lyfe!
So Wanze, did you manage to dump all your Celestial recipes in time before the announcement?
Although I’m not a TP player, I’m eagerly looking forward to the coming disequilibrium too. There’s usually bargains to be had at times like this, so it’s good times for a hoarder!
I think it’s bad form, but not a bannable offense. Even afking the entire dungeon isn’t a bannable offense (although your party would be justified in kicking you). I echo what cranked said; if you really do need to go afk that often, I’d suggest not doing a dungeon until you can clear at least half an hour of free time to devote to it.
Unless the item in question is one that you’re going to replace very soon, I’d always insert upgrades into your gear if available. The bonuses from Runes/Sigils etc. can make a LOT of difference to your gameplay.
If money is tight, you can get by on Major runes/sigils or Crests until you’re ready to do a final gear upgrade.
AP is not a good way to determine skill. I have over 15k AP now, and I consider myself fairly skilled. I know all of Fractals, can solo just about all open world Champs, have been to multiple Teq/Wurm kills, know what to do in WvW ankitten ow slowly learning sPvP. Yet the highest dungeon I’ve done is SE; I wouldn’t have a clue what to do in CoF/CoE/HotW/Arah if I were to step in there now. When I first started SE, everybody was mindblown when I said I was new to this and for people to please give me instructions for tricky areas. They couldn’t believe that somebody with 14k (at the time) AP hadn’t done SE yet, but it happens!
It could go either way. We do have a dev on record stating that he fully expects the Gauntlet achievements (NOT the Pavilion ones) to return when the Gauntlet comes back. Of course, decisions might have changed between then and now.
And all of the SAB achievements were available again during Back to School, so there’s still reason to be hopeful.
It’s not even out yet! Be patient, young grasshopper.
Come next week, I’m sure dulfy will have the appropriate guides up.
Probably won’t be as bad this time around. They nerfed the raw coin that comes from Champ bags, and they closed the loopholes that allowed people to earn crazy amounts of gold from the Gauntlet.
I’m looking forward to revisiting the Labyrinthine Cliffs and Crown Pavilion.
Hopefully it also means another chance to get some of the old skins like the Sovereign Weapons. I’m also looking forward to finally getting that Light Up the Darkness achievement (now that my characters are finally properly geared up!)
ANet’s obviously reworked the daily system to encourage more people to try WvW and PvP. Daily Events can be completed extremely quickly in WvW (cap some Sentries, kill some Dolyaks), and Daily Gatherer can be done there too. Daily PvP is actually extremely quick to complete; Daily PvP Kills can usually be done in one match and it doesn’t matter whether you win or lose for Daily Matches Played (just join any match in progress and hop on Random). Daily Captures is also fairly easily done; if you’re not good at soloing, just follow your teammates around and cap what they cap.
The Crown Pavillion is returning, so there’s potential for them to drop again if the Watchknights are still there for us to farm.
Woot! Looking forward to this.
I loved the Labyrinthine Cliffs and I welcome the chance to try for that dang Light Up the Darkness achievement again.
On the lore side of things, the new Canthan themes make me hopeful that we’ll see a Canthan expansion sooner rather than later.
Fingers crossed that the Sovereign weapons will become available again too.
Thanks for this info.
It should be quite helpful for ANet’s bug crew when they get around to it.
In the meantime, if you are desperately trying to unlock the Rogue Mask skin, I know for a fact that the karma helm bought from Magister Kathryn in Dredgehaunt Cliffs (she’s at Tribulation Rift) works for unlocking the skin.
Oops, yeah, I forgot that about light armor.
That would fix the problem, but it would also create two other “problems”:
1. Since every item can be obtained as a matter of time (I’m presuming your system functions like a “token redemption setup” where rare gear is freely available, but at a high token cost), it would completely eliminate the feeling of “jackpot!” when a rare item drops for you. For some (many) players, this is an important feeling and a large part of their enjoyment in RPGs. It’s why players grinded hours in games like Diablo, and why Black Lion Keys continue to remain so popular. People like to feel like they’ve won the lottery; eliminating rare loot drops would deprive these players of that satisfaction.
2. If every rare item can be obtained if a player plays long enough, it would alienate some players who like to feel unique or special. That is, they have gear/titles that few or no other players have. Thus, you’d lose out on these players as they move to other games.
Speaking for myself, I’d still play a game under these rules, since I honestly do not care what other players are using and I’m more of a slow, methodical player, but I recognise that I’m not the majority here. ANet has to compromise between the needs of players from both sides, and what we have now is fairly decent as compromises go.
“They die like flies.”
Best reason to play a male Norn Necromancer. XD
Mind you, female Norn Necromancers are so rare that I’ve never heard one say her lines for minions before!
How about some frilly jabots for the guys too so they don’t feel too left out? Let us all get in touch with our feminine sides!
No self respecting guy would be caught dead with such clothing. I’ve not met one guy who liked frills.
They’re not to my taste either, but this statement just sounds overly defensive. It’s a taste born of cultural trends; go back to the Elizabethan era and you’ll see plenty of men wearing frills in their clothes. It was considered fashionable back then, and one day it could be fashionable again.
I will agree that the eggs mechanic needs to be made more meaningful. Currently if there are enough players pounding on the Queen, you can kill her within 2 minutes even if nobody throws any eggs at all. She probably needs to be adjusted so her carapace works like Mai’s Shielding; if it’s at 50, she takes 0 damage from all sources.
The previous plateau was around the 7 – 8g range for 100 gems. Following the Apr 15th update, it briefly spiked up to more than 10g for 100 gems, but has since settled back down to 9g. It’s so far resisted falling back down below 9g, which suggests to me that there must be a lot of players buying gem store skins for their Wardrobe.
I agree that they should be salvageable. (Or at least Forge-able.) Nobody in their right mind is going to buy up Order weapons/armor to salvage for Ectos; their high base price makes them not worthwhile, and as Rares, they don’t give inscriptions/insignia.
I echo the advice given by the above posters.
If you do some digging, you’ll find some Exotics that are crazily cheap (for Exotics), sometimes worth less than 1 gold! These make excellent candidates for salvage.
And always, ALWAYS use Black Lion Kits when salvaging Exotics.
All crafted sets are unique in appearance, although the Feathered armor closely resembles the gem store Flamekissed armor set.
