All minor and major sigils can be forged. Most superior sigils cannot be forged, however. Those that can are usually because they form part of a recipe to get another specific weapon.

Sigil of Battle Vs Stacking Sigils...

I use Sigil of Battle. Granted, when I’m just doing open world PvE, I tend to just stay in Fire/Earth so I don’t get that much benefit out of it, but when it comes to dungeons/Fractals/WvW and the attunement juggling comes to the fore, that’s when it really shines.

-shrug- People will play what they wanna play. Just focus on your own performance.

If you’re winning, keep doing what you’re doing.

If you’re losing and you want to get better, ask for advice or do some research.

If you’re losing and you don’t mind losing because you’re having fun anyway, keep doing what you’re doing.

If you’re losing and it’s because you have bad teammates, then play Team Arenas. Getting potentially bad teammates is part of the scene in Hotjoin and Solo Queue. You win some, you lose some.

Huh. I never even knew about the “Play Now” button. >.>

But yeah, I agree that the rewards should be reworked so it doesn’t just encourage stacking and afking. What I propose is instead adjusting the rewards so earned glory is based on what you did in the match, rather than being primarily weighted towards victory. Here’s an example:

Old system:

Player A on the losing team gets:

- Top Captures: 5
- Top Defender: 5
- Top Revives: 5
- Match Lost: 200

Total: 215 Glory for a loss.

Player B on the winning team gets:

- Top Killer: 5
- Match Won: 500

Total: 505 Glory for a win.

New system:

Player A on the losing team gets:

- Top Captures: 100
- Top Defender: 100
- Top Revives: 100
- Match Lost: 100

Total: 400 Glory for a loss.

Player B on the winning team gets:

- Top Killer: 100
- Match Won: 200

Total: 300 Glory for a win.

So the end result is that your rewards depend much more on your own individual skill and participation, rather than just stacking on the winning team. This means it’s possible to get MORE rewards on the losing team than on the winning team, depending on how well you do as an individual.

The above rewards are just a brief outline, btw. If we actually implement this I’d tweak it so that they scale per kill/capture/revive etc. instead of just being a flat reward for being the top scorer.

Also, O-Tron was never created to be a morale booster. His original role as Job-o-Tron was as a recruiter and “HR manager”, designed to evaluate the usefulness and proper placement of refugees into new jobs on Southsun. After the settlers were freed following the destruction of their contracts, Job-o-Tron’s role became largely redundant. (Even though some of the settlers decided to stay on in Southsun.)

Will (SAB) be permanent this time?

in Living World

^ I was actually going to post about that today, deSade!

Suppose that, after World 4 is complete, ANet offers you the ability to access SAB at any time via a “Personal SAB console” item purchased from the gem store, how many of you would be interested in buying it?

SAB will still make periodic returns each year as part of its “festival” schedule (so if you dislike the thought of spending gems to play SAB, you can always wait for it to return), but this Personal Console basically lets you and other SAB fans play it whenever you want. As with the Living Story content, you can pull other players into it via your instance, but they won’t earn any achievements/rewards unless they also have purchased the Personal Console (or when SAB is universally available).

Thoughts?

The person coming first only ever gets Fake Power-ups, so the stun spam is actually coming from the people behind you. (Usually it’s the last placers who keep getting the track-wide offensive power-ups, and once per person uses theirs, everybody else just spams theirs in retaliation so it’s non-stop stuns/knockbacks/blinds.)

I can consistently place in the top 3, although since I’ve already completed all the Sanctum Sprint achievements I generally don’t bother using the fake power-ups since it doesn’t matter much to me if I come first or not. If I want to, however, I know several sneaky spots to drop them that will knock the chasing player behind me into the abyss and cause them to lose a lot of progress/time.

What race do you want playable?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zaxares.5419

Zaxares.5419

Krait are an outright evil race, so they’re out. Naga would require cantha, so it’s possible, but with lack of feet, I’d still say unlikely, unless they get a tail ornament which I can’t see anet doing. Forgotten, I forget their lore, but I think that’s less likely than naga.
As for largos. lore wise it wouldn’t make sense for them to be playable, but I, and a lot of others, like their aesthetics.

Yeah, even though I’d love a serpentoid playable race, I agree that the current way the Krait have been written leaves them no real wriggle room for being “good”.

The most likely candidate would be the Naga, if a Canthan expansion were to be released. (The Tengu could become a playable race in the same expansion. “Retake our ancestral homeland!”) The Naga were not always hostile to humanity, after all; they only turned to raiding to survive after their traditional homes and hunting grounds were destroyed by the Jade Wind.

I’d love to play a Forgotten, but I think they’re too steeped in lore as movers behind the scenes to be a good playable race.

I’m not too keen on the idea of Largos as a playable race, although I appreciate that many players would like it. I just feel that a big part of the appeal of the Largos is due to their mystique and rarity. That appeal would be quickly lost once you started seeing a Largos on every street (or wearing some hideous multi-colored rainbow suit).

Besides, those wings would be a clipping nightmare for the armor artists. Charr players already complain about clipping for their tail, and that’s set low on the body and have only a single point of contact. It would be much, much worse for the Largos.

Whereabouts do you live? It sounds as if you’re having the same problem as me; I live in Australia, so my 200ms (on average) ping means that the game frequently thinks I’m a split second behind where my screen shows me to be, meaning I sometimes get killed by Visions or shadowfalls hitting me even though I should be safely out of range. (It also sometimes won’t let you pick up light orbs for the same reason.) This is a VERY annoying handicap, but it can be overcome. (There’s no shame in losing if you can’t overcome this though; it’s a bit like going into a boxing match half-blindfolded.)

One thing to note is that the light orbs disappear ~10 seconds after being generated, regardless of whether or not you’re holding them. That means you need to grab them and throw them asap.

Some more tips to survive shadowfalls and Visions:

- The Visions can be Blinded to make their explosion miss. Other than that, only Evades or Invulnerable skills will protect you against them; their explosion goes right through blocks or skills like Endure Pain.

- The Visions turn at a much slower rate than you do. This means that it’s easier to avoid them by running in small circles around them than by running away from them. Use that to your advantage and to bunch them up together so they all run into a single light pool (helpful if you’re trying for the 8 orbs achievement).

- The shadowfalls can be avoided through evades, blocks, invulnerability or damage immunity skills. This means you should have at least 1 or 2 “panic button” skills that you can use if you can’t get out of shadowfalls. When I did this on my Warrior, I had 2: Endure Pain and Shield Stance. Coupled with your dodges, that should keep you fairly safe from shadowfalls.

- Similar to the Visions, it’s easier to avoid the shadowfalls if you run in circles closer to the center of the arena. This means you have to move shorter distances to get to safety, and if you have an innate 25% speed boost, you’ll still be able to hobble from one safe spot to the next even if you’re crippled by Liadri.

What is the order in which you are killing the pirates? Depending on your build, the kill order may make a HUGE difference to your success.

For example, I beat them using a hybrid condi/minion master. My kill order was Stitches→Gunner→First Mate→Captain. The regen that Stitches gives the others is negligible when you can spam Poison and killing her early means she can’t heal the others. The Gunner’s ability is pretty useless, and the First Mate’s poison blades is meaningless when it’s just the Captain left. I found the random dodges the Captain gives his friends to be very, very annoying, so I leave him for last.

Nightmare/Krait feelings towards the Toxic?

in Lore

Posted by: Zaxares.5419

Zaxares.5419

The orthodox Nightmare Court likely does not have any real objection to their Toxic brethren; the dialogue between the Toxic Baron and Baroness in the Hybrid’s chamber suggests that they still share the same goals of spreading the Nightmare through pain and suffering, although the Toxic sylvari probably are not as concerned with trying to subvert the Pale Tree and the Dream. Through their actions, however, they still serve the purposes of the Nightmare Court, so the NC take no action against them.

The orthodox krait, however, likely view the Toxic Krait as apostates and heretics who have turned away from the central faith. As mentioned above, an ANet dev (Angel, I think?) made comments alluding to this. However, I think that in some cases, a Toxic Krait may “come back to the fold”. In Timberfall Falls, for instance, there is a single Veteran Toxic Nimross atop Sipedon Deeps, not far away from the Krait Witch. He seems to be avoided by the rest of the Krait, but the fact that he’s there suggests that perhaps the Witch or the Oratuss value his power enough to let him remain.

Disregarding the Watchwork Pick, there are two reasons you would buy the Bone Pick (or any other unlimited tool):

1. For the aesthetics. The Bone Pick might be perfect for a Necromancer, for example, and the Molten Pick might be perfect for a flame-themed character.

2. For convenience. One of these picks means you never have to spend time replacing picks ever again (or keeping multiple picks of varying quality, if you dislike wasting expensive picks on low-level nodes) and inventory storing all those tools. Depending on your “income per hour”, you may find the time saving to be worth much more than the gold/gems you spend on these tools.
