Last night the casters did great job on ESL matches, I enjoyed it quite well. But the thing is as many above mentioned. You got lost in it, in fights, in rotation. You can’t see what skills players are using since it became one big chaos. And most of the time they don’t point camera on whole fight, from start to beginning. Since it will get boring, most of the time players are bunkering on the cap point. But that’s the problem of the concept of gw2. I bet the Anet and casters squeezed maximum from casting tournaments. I like to watch while I can learn something. Here you don’t have such options like in other games.
It’s simple, in guide videos you see something, you are oriented on what you see and don’t get lost in it and as a bonus you can learn something.
In pop matches. You can’t catch up, casters are moving quickly around the map, cuz the game is fast progressing, while you can’t notice how pro players are using the strategies with their hero. Most of the time watching ESL doesn’t bring you anything to you. Because you just get lost in this whole chaos of fights. In dota you can catch up and learn cuz there analysts fewer options for players than in GW2.
I watch ESL a lot, but most of the time it’s just a waste of time. So why ppl should get over of something which is actually more beneficial?

I must not agree. I have seen lots of you here are considering the extra evade is something which is already in the game. But that dodge specs are that " game changing".
Well for example Mesmer got another shatter skill, which is also already in the game. So it’s kinda similar situation.
By my opinion, the evades which thief got are super cool, if you know how to use them. But I must admit I didn’t find it much useful in PvE.
The new spec evades give me lots of new possibilities inPvP and I’m enjoying it as it is.
What si forcing you to not create your own build which will fit to you?
I agree that they dont show if you gof ES. Its for the fair game. Its just to avoid the matches like: Huh, he is runnig Druid so i will set my skill so i can easily counter him" scenario. Its equal for both teams and its more competitive since you cant expect any exact build the enemy is running.
So saving 2 initiative along with randomly revealted on hit, stop cd and natural regeneration in stealth with 1sec cast time + interruptable + coast while invis is much better than normal stealth for 9 initiative?
Anything like this doesnt worth to toggle this stealth on, I rather sacrifice 2 initiative and have much higher chance to make succes whit stealth.

And a stealth on p/p or sb is not such profitable. And anyway there are ways hoe to get stealth all the time, utilities, traits, combos with other playmates.
Still useless, if traited you get 15 initiatives, toggle coast 5 so you can get 10 sec of stealth wich is nice, but then again you backstab then you must run away because you dont have any initiation left. (Not counting with skills like Roll for initiative etc.)
The meaning of this toggle skill is to hide from enemy and run away safely.
Its completly useless during the fights cuz you dont get anything out of it. If they randomly hit you its lost along with the initiation you spend in that toggle steath. And in other cases the normal stealth is way too better and you get nore benefits for it.
Im sorry, but from your description it shows it could be used only in one scenario, whis is:
Oh, look an enemy! Let’s hide so he cant kill me while I run away!
And anyway even it that case the normal stealth is just better.

Not sure if troll or something. According to your condition nobody will use Stealth at all.

You toggle it, get to the enemy, backstab->run away because you dont have initiative to keep fighing.

No wonder that devs are not paying attention to thief forum when everybody is crying and calling ideas of others by trashtalk. OP is right, devs gives thief some exact abilities and ppl are just crying here that they want to play different style than the thief is set for.

the hekets are hylek with different cultural names – heket was an egyptian goddess with a frog head
so we’d be playing hylek
and forgotten would be like WoW zombie people but kraits
Heket is orginal name of hylek from Gw1.. its race. There were even slim forgs.. not only those fat from gw2
The problem is that was a warrior you have to work twice as hard to do constant damage and survive than any other class.
It seems like you have never played anything else but warrior. Any class is hard to master, but warriors are one of the easiest to master.
I would like to play as a Forgotten or the hekets could be funny.

Hello everybody, I have simple question. I’m going soon to vacation to Russia and I’ve heard the games are recently cheaper there. I know like some games on Steam are regional locked. But how it is with GW2? So my question is, Can I buy a game code there and use it on my Europe account without any problem? Or I migh expect regional lock or getting banned and so on?

It’s kind of bullkitten they removed the ranger ability to use ground targeted traps because it didn’t thematically fit traps, but it’s okay for a DH to teleport to you and bomb you with insta cast traps.
But this is an ELITE spec, you can’t compare it to mere ranger utilities.
STOP confusing elite with more powerful. Elite doesn’t mean it’s supposed to be stronger. It’s elite because you only get one just like elite skills.
How can I not confuse it when it clearly is so much stronger? Obviously ANET made these specs OP because they are meant to be more powerful than the normal specs, what other explanation is there?
Are you trying to suggest that in spvp class specs should be relatively balanced across the board? That sounds nice in theory but it goes totally in the face of what is actually happening.

This is so true, there is nothing competitive about this insta tp bombing. You can’t call it esport. Even kids in CoD can’t quickscope anymore.
Like the thiefs. Assassins class which cant actually kill anybody. Why not call him a “Runner”?

hows druid OP? yes you cant kill him even 2vs1, but on other hand he cant kill you either, he just dont deal any serious dmg. Stop qq, learn how to counter them.
Sometimes when I got possibility when I am alon against 2 enemies a just run around deal no cause just wasting their time so my teammates can do lot more without dealing with another players.
Please post your build where you’re doing 15k backstabs, 5k+ hits, perma blinds, are tanky AND evasive.

I dont know maybe I am wrong, but I dont think thiefs deal no dmg. They deal good amount of dmg of course not such as it will be possible to kill in few sec and then run away. This will be too strong and it was here already before. Tere is reason for current thief dmg
lol thief does do damage but everyone just does it better everyone has way more lockdown and way more hit potential than thief does. actually what am i saying all other classes do things better than thief right now. druids and they’re pets cause blind way more often than they should and engineers have easier access to stealth than thief does now also. btw our damage comes from stealth and backstab which is now negated with the amount of reveal in this game now.
perma invis+5k on hit+15k hit on backstab+perma blind, have tanky and evading skills. This is what you think will be balanced? This is your fighting potential from what thief lacks?
Btw only valuable reveal has engi now.. 6s reveal with 40s cd, half minute when you can go stealth.. and you dont fight engi every 40 seconds during whole match
the HoT is actually: Buy 2 be your opponents useless (in competitive)
Yeah lets rather keep the OP specializations as they are, this will certainly help to keep the free2players & non hot-buyers in the game when they’re constantly at a disadvantage.

I agree with you. Most of nonHoT build cant deal with to much evading, blocking, healing stuff. Get dozens of 2vs1 elite fights, where for 2-3 mins cause no dmg, just wasted time in order the do something usefull to win the game.

I guess you dont get the idea of competetive games. You dont play solo, you play with a team. And in order to win you sometimes has to sacrifice something. Look at ESL, fast moving and capturing points wins the game. Its just too much valuable.
But of course if you want to play random unranked and jst brawl with somebody you might be right. And if people want kills instead of winning the game, then my oppinion is stupid.

Use shadow trap on large maps like Temple of the Silent Storm. You set it near meditations and when they apear you can easily capture withing a few seconds across whole map. There is so much tricks you can do with this skill.

Edit: is called competetive, when certain class do their job in order to win the match. Not 5v5 gather on one place and fight each other. Strategy to win the game.
the problem with thieves is that.. they can’t do anything against wells, traps and medi guardians (condi thief might have higher chances against them though).
While classes like warrior can just use endure pain and berserker stance so that he can tank the wells and traps for his team. Mesmer also can use illusion to trigger those wells and traps.
Thief literally has nothing against wells and traps. D/D thieves can vault and dodge around, but once he land on that stacked traps and wells..hes done for, but classes like warrior can just stand on it for a few second.
They can… Not stand in them? No good player is going to stand in that crap even WITH immunities. Why would they waste those cooldowns on something repositioning could handle?

you play a thief and you go far and then you see a necro trying to cap their home and place well on the point.

and? you can place shadow trap and leave to capture another point, when the previous point is empty blink and you can get back within a second and capture it. and you can get profit. There too many options how to deal with such subjects like this. Just be creative and use brain

Hey there, I see lots of you think the thief is underpowered all the time and I got tired of this. Thief is still one of the best and demanded class in entire game.
He is not though designed to be fighter anymore, ironically its presented as an assassin/dmg dealer.
People are crying everytime about it. I started to play a thief recently and i think is too strong and valueble in pvp. If you would like to get fighting potential and survivability, Anet should reduce his mobility in the meaning that thiefs will not began OP again.
During the last years, the thief are one of the well balanced class in the game.
They are not designed to fight long duration fights. Its designed to hit and run.
Well played thief is hard to kill because of his mobility. If you are complainig about your insta death in pvp, then you just suck and play him wrong.
Its like the todays Druid thing… he is good bunker its hard to kill him, but hey.. on other hand he cant kill you eiter.. Just like thief.. They are not OP, its balanced.
Moving around the map quickly can win the game.
So please stop saying that thief are dead, thiefs are so underpowered, thief cant do kittens. Thiefs are designed to hit and run with high mobility and hard to kill still.
So stick with it or play another class if you want fights where you could win.

I dont agree with this. Now thiefs have again figgting potential and dont die in few hits every time. In current meta as a thief you are only doing +1 fights, capturing or finishing almost dead ppl. No real fight.. Its good that they make him more surviveable.

I mean the HoT brigng new playstyle to current meta game. They play too different and nonHoT players at this moment dont have any way how to counter them or play on the same gamestyle to catch up.
I also agree with your oppinion. As a thief when it comes to +1 fight I can do so little when fighting HoT specialization. And yes you are right, I feel weak also and I believe the old build will be gone and since you dont buy HoT you will be not able to catch up with new meta which I think is slowly comming. Its still early to decide it now but for sure the new specializations are unbalanced, not OP, but very unbalanced. They are new in current meta plays with different playstyle and nonHoT players are not used to conter them.

For me as a player who dont bought HoT this is quite shame from Anet. I would say this will cause new meta and since you dont buy it you cant play in it. I play mostly thief and i think its still more valuable than Daredevil combantant. But in other hand I think the HoT just take my fighting away. Since I got new specializations in other teams (at least 3) I am literaly only capturing the points since I cant do anything in +1 fights.
I feel the same but hey I just dont see that its OK when two coordinated ppl are attacking the druid and couldnt do any dmg.. we didnt get him below 80% if his HP and yet he get back on 100 in a sec. It jst doesnt make a sence. Or its okay to be it like this?
Me and my friend think we are not bad players after few years, but this is sometimes a big deal for us. I dont see they way how to deal with them.. And waiting for the moment when they make a mistake is something with you cant count.
hey everyone, did somebody also noticed that the new specializations in PVP are ruining whole game? I play a thief and when i play against new specialization a litteraraly cant do anything. Seriously I have got so many games where 2vs1 couldnt do anything.
Example:
2vs druid.. we attack him in pair for 2 mins.. he was all the time ful hp every sec CC.. couldnt cause any DMG.
2vs berserker, we got him pretty low sudenly he got full HP while bursting us.. we lost 2vs one.
2vs dragon hunter.. runned to us spam skill all dead in 2 seconds.
2vs chronomancer.. all attacks are evading, couldnt do much for 2 mins, after it we beat him.
2vs herald.. block block block for few mins
and so many other cases like this im having every game I play PVP
like seriously what the hell is this? Is the ANET making unbalanced characters to force people to buy HoT for this benefits? Is this just only beacause of marketing?
I dont think any of them are OP, but the game is so unbalanced for a team where nobody bought this DLC. Its just ruining alsmot every game I play.
