I think adding a 1200 single target part to the auto attack so that staff guardians hit everything in front of them for 600 but can only hit one target at 1200 (their target)

if this gets put in, can i request the mesmer gs #1 graphics but in blue please

Making it a symbol would be a nice change. The symbol can give swiftness and the staff gets and overhaul = win.

I like this. Although Stability would be a nice one to have on Smite if it were to be changed to a Symbol.

However, should they apply a symbol on this, we would winge about how the sword would be the ONLY weapon without a symbol!

Additionally: They could add a symbol on the sword #2 skill which leaves a symbol where you was and grants swiftness to allies (and applying the buff to you as well)
but I’m derailing…

I love the idea! I was thinking the other day when using the scepter that it is not a symbol which is a shame because it would create some interesting choices, do you buff yourself and others around you or damage your target and buff the melee. Or… do you melee with the scepter and stand in it to gain the benefit.

Good idea to increase the usefulness of the aoe.

lore wise there should be a place for this in lions arch… it got burnt down (iirc) by Rytlock, Logan and Caithe because Caithe decided that she should stand up for a defenseless animal.

A raid requires teamwork, not a zerg. The more people you get together the more the game feels like a zerg as opposed to a organised group.

That said maybe a 10man group could make it. But you would need fights like the lovers in AC, and content that requires the group to be organised to complete.

And then income the whiners whining about how they cant complete it because they tried it with an “awesome” group and the group did nothing wrong!…. then it gets nerfed into a state where the braindead can complete it.

did you know that in beta, dungeons were hard. people were struggling to complete them… which is how it should be. but the whiners whine.

If raids were what they were meant to be and A-Net stuck to this then maybe it could work.

there was a dungeon that when you entered it, it flashed a light at a sequence of pillars… you had to organise yourselves to recreate this pattern. that was fun!

I believe this is something they are working on, I believe this because if you right click the token you will see “Deposit Collectible” grayed out which means there’s no room in the bank for it (or no place set for it).

under the OP’s suggestion having more MF and playing bad will reduce your drops. the higher the MF % the more he can get or the less he can receive. so people with higher MF would be inclined to work harder to maintain a high drop rate

I definitely think that ANet could expand into your ideas however random dungeons will be quite hard as people who grind the content will eventually see it all and it wouldnt be as adventurous.

but I do like the idea of dungeons as a solo or 3 man content designed to challenge players.

the only thing i dont think will work is the raid dungeon,

I would like however to see an arena style dungeon where the players compete against the AI of random mobs to the death and the rewards will be gold/loot. additionally you could add a competitive edge to this by displaying who got the furthest number of rounds

The invention of Chronicles (1-2 player versions of raids) is one of the best things I’ve ever seen added to an MMO with raiding. It allowed people to see the content without having to raid, the content was sufficiently challenging for the 1-2 players it was intended for, and there was a random chance of vanity items dropping.

I have to agree, however LotRO had 3 man dungeons which were amazing, and also had 1 man dungeons too. easily one of the best moments in mmos in my opinion.

With ArenaNet’s ability to dynamically expand content, scaling the 1 man dungeon to 3 man dungeon would be easy. and they could just close off certain routes should the difficulty prove too difficult to scale.

additionally I would like to see an arena style path where you can compete in a arena against the AI comprised of different mobs and enemies. and should you choose to you can focus on becoming the leader of that arena,

could add a scoreboard of who has made it the furthest and compete against others in that way.

Much like the arena that Edge of Steel fought in in the book “Destiny’s Edge”.

I would much like the ability to have repercussions for venturing into restricted areas like being arrested.

just make the game more fluid in terms of player choice and interactions with others, like a RPG should be

I have to say, this is quite a good idea,

although i would have to say that players should be able to get equal gear without the MF stat. additionally, It would have to be incorporated graphically. and not just as a bar that slides up and down.
maybe as a small second orb to the right of the elite skill that fills up.
and would fill up relative to the MF that you have, the colour that fills it determines if its good or bad. (+% or -%).

so if you had 10% and was currently at 5% the orb would be at 50%
if you gained more MF and had 15% then the 5% would be represented as only filling up 33% of the orb.

Maybe incorporating this into the current agony resistance.

Additionally, having MF increase the currency drop would be good as also increase the chance of rarer dyes dropping.

I would love for my Guardian to have a long cape that drags along the floor with the Vigil helm (heavy).

additionally can they be implemented in a similar way to GW1 capes in relation to physics instead of a animated cape.

Jumping up and down also seems to work to help avoid projectiles. I often do this when running out/away from a zerg etc. and notice shots whizzing above my head and not dealing damage. Not sure if being an asura helps me with this or not. Would like some one else to test it as well if they could.

what would be good is to delay using an intercepting path until the person has been moving for a second.

The slow speed is just salt in the wounds for ranged weapons.
There is no reason for a Magical Orb of light not to change course and force the target to dodge. however they would need to reduce the auto attack speed as the chance for a hit has increased.

However being an asura doesnt affect anything. As all the hit boxes are normalised. Arenanet voiced this during beta. So your tactic would work.

I do stand by there being a delay initially so it fires at the current position and not the projected position.

I just thought, (it did hurt but i got there in the end :P) wasnt the inital move speed a slow ramp up during beta? This would mean under those circumstances the current targeting/projectile system would work perfectly. Need the targeting/projectile system to be brought up to date.

I love how guardians are crying about this… Ok this game is about moving from melee to ranged and back or fighting at a distance you are comfortable with. But spare a thought for rangers… You dont see them moan about their weapons… And yes you can negate any projectile skill with this movement. So while you guys seem to focus and moan about the one skill that is affected by this issue its brings to light that rangers arnt event mentioning this. And they have alot more skills that act like this.

Just had an idea which would be cool.

Trait: Applies a X second Chill (or cripple) when ever you stack more than Y bleeds. and have a Z second Cooldown.

X, Y and Z would be adjusted for balance. It would give the Sharpening Stone utility a whole new play as with various other skills and setups.

anyone want to improve this? or add other trait ideas?

when Rooted and setup for the slaughter (warrior’s root + quickened Aimed Shot, or any root + high damage ability) use the shortbow Quick Shot to provide yourself with a Evade ;P

On my Thief, i used to spot water fields and blast them with my Cluster Bomb for an AoeE~2.4k heal. I also must point at the drakes which has a blast finisher, a bit unpredictable and unreliable, however we do have one! :P

I have gone back to my ranger for the more ranged gameplay

It would be cool that to tame a pet you had to earn its trust, and help its relatives, this could be done using the F1-4 keys while no pet is equipped. and gives us new skills to tame pets and makes the whole process a more rewarding one than pressing F.

in wow, the pet would attack you until you tamed it, maybe we could use a similar system however using the F1-4 keys we could add more interactivity and make it a challenge to tame them and maybe add rare pats which are hard to tame.

interrupt the pet? its not hard to counter this skill. compare it to the warriors #3 skill which allows them to get up and pummel you into the floor.

Is a ranged thief viable?
I love ranged classes and i love the mobility of the thief, (not really a fan of the whole backstab builds).
I currently have a Ranger and a Mesmer, but I was wondering if the Thief is good as a ranged class. I like conditions and would probs play with the rampager set.
Im looking at this from all aspects of the game (rather play one class and be really good at it)
Would a ranged thief be good compared to the options laid out by the ranger and mesmer?

Any input?

Pff, mesmer by far. With my mesmer I just use my focus and reflect everything.
Focus 4 and 5 reflects if traited AND on top of that I have an utility to reflect even more. Phantasms/Clones do the job for me. Greatsword autoattack hits like a truck…

Still gonna level up a ranger though. I miss GW 1 ranger.

but what if that ranger used quickness and the gs/sword/horn?
each i would say is equal however, in a straight dps fight, i believe that the mesmer would win due to the gs hitting hard

depends, I have beaten mesmers as a ranger and rangers as a mesmer, both quite hard to do. A mesmer has the advantage of producing a lot of clones and phantasms. however, it is possible for the ranger to get the pet to sit on the real mesmer and burn him down.

I’m having trouble deciding between mesmer and ranger for all aspects of the game myself.

Simply put, the mesmer has more tricks up its sleeve to reverse dmg onto the ranger and the ranger has the ability to take out clones using traps and focus on the mesmer with himself and the pet.

guess it depends if the ranger is quick to spot the real mesmer and if the mesmer is good enough to spot a ranger lining up for burst dmg with his bows.

Search & Rescue - The new F5

To be honest, It would be nice to see the ability to slot a F5 shout, so we would have to choose one of them and would not have access to the others. which would make the choice an interesting one. however this would mean that we would need more skills…. which may not be a bad thing seeing as we lack any utility defend button (excluding signet of stone with traits)

ArenaNet should create a site here that translates TUGT to local times. Maybe a little globe to drag and spin.

This would actually be awesome, or even to have a script that translates any TUGT to your local time when you mouse over it.

Once you understand time zones its actually not hard. CET is GMT + 1 except for summer where it is CEST which is GMT + 2, by this time, we (the Brits) are on BST which is British Summer Time which is GMT + 1. right now we are GMT which is CET – 1
so if it is 7pm CET it is 6pm GMT. additionally keep in mind there is always a 7 hour time difference between PST and GMT… except for summer…. :P

Noone (who’s not living on the Isles) cares what time you’re on.
It’s about the standard that lets everyone easily calculate when the events start, no matter is their country observes summer time or not or what day precisely do they start / end this, and this differs A LOT. So please…

Actually, the post was outlining the fact that its easy to work it out. and that maybe conforming to the UTC would be better which is what ALL time is worked around.

Since Time is kept and recorded at Greenwich, London (GMT), the rest of the world goes by this time kept (synchronises every X time with GMT) maybe a little respect for the Time Lords? :P

p.s. GMT is the same as UTC (Coordinated Universal Time to which everyone syncronises to and adds and takes away the respective hours based on where they are)
