I’m pretty sure autorun is “R” by default
Could just be people are waiting for the Jan 28 update.
Kohler is one of the hardest bosses until you learn to dodge his grapplehook, once you learn to dodge that he becomes the easiest boss in the game.
It’s easy to dodge at that, when you see him powering up like a cartoon character, you dodge or move behind a pillar.
Yes you can dodge his pull, but nobody can stand there and take hits for more than a few seconds. You end up having to kite him.
JUST LIKE EVERY SINGLE BOSS IN GW2. KITE KITE KITE KITE
Can’t we have some boss fights where we can actually CC the boss and use strategy to win? I’m so sick of kiting every single boss. It’s so boring, not fun.
Absolutely 100% agree with this.
As for the troll, that kitten thing can hit you for a huge chunk of your health AND apply FIVE stacks of bleed in ONE HIT. And that troll hits very frequently, so you’ll be at 10-25 stacks of bleed in a matter of seconds.
I’m doing the same. The only two professions I’m missing is mesmer and thief. Honestly though, mesmer makes me want to quit because it is incredibly ridiculous how fast I go down. And as for thieves, oh god…it’s even worse
to be fair, GW2 has a Red Ring of Death ring.
Oh yeah that’s true, its one of those FOTM rings isn’t it?
I didn’t believe this, but I just logged into my account, looked for the two swords, and holy hell they are EXACTLY the same.
This has been the same problem with the CoF medium armor coat blocking the shoulders somehow, causing it to block any shoulder armor you wear and make it seem like you don’t have any.
Not a single one of my toons uses a scepter. The only exception is my guardian when I have to go into my inventory and switch a weapon for the scepter because range is required. Other than that, I never use the scepter
I’ve never had Lich Form end before it says it was going to end. Were you by chance looking at the Stability boon instead of Plague? If you have 20 Death magic, Plague will end when you have 6 seconds of Stability left (and take taht away from you).
I thought the stability timer WAS the elite timer
With Deathly Swarm, number of condition removals is dependent upon the bounces. See the Notes section:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Deathly_Swarm
So it HAS to hit multiple enemies…well that’s misleading
Lich Form says it lasts 30 seconds, yet it ends with 6 seconds left, 6!
Deathly Swarm says it transfers THREE conditions if it hits an enemy, yet it only transfers one.
What the hell?
Why is dagger the “worst” melee choice?
Deathshroud being useless for anything other then a power build (and even then pretty bad). No burst. Slow stacking of conditions. Extremely limited access to stability. Extremely long cool-downs on almost all of our utilities. Many traits still bugged (more then any other profession). The fact that a lot of or utilities flat out don’t work (corrupt boon missing 50% of the time, spectral grasp missing 80% of the time, people just walking out of wells) Minions (need I say more?). Oh yeah, extreme lack of combo fields/finishers. This is just off the top of my head. kthxbai.
It is a bit frustrating when enemies either walk out of our wells or get pushed out but, I’m still finding necro incredibly fun
Two words! Piercing Arrows!
Seriously, is everyone forgetting rangers can have pierced arrows?
I’m pretty sure this isn’t intended but, whenever I attack with the severed dagger, I’m attacking enemies with the end of the dagger rather than the actual blade. Just turning the blades upside down would fix it
Tier 3 cultural is probably the equivalence of Obbi armor from GW1
As for Fiffelina’s recommendations, I definitely like pow/prec/tough thank you for that very lengthy suggestion
Forgive my naivety, but what are the WvW pants?
WvW offers its own unique armor set (unique as in the skin) that needs badges, which you get from WvW. Its called Invaders set
I’ve been doing WvW a lot lately, and I’ve been thinking of getting another set of armor for my ranger SPECIFICALLY for WvW. I was thinking of going glass cannon (power/precision/crit) with a longbow and increased range. What are your takes on this? Has anyone tried this build for strictly WvW?
I use healing spring but never stand in it long enough for it to be good. Mostly just because the combo field and any assist I can give to my team. Rangers aren’t the best class for team oriented things imo.
Not the BEST no, but they can still offer team oriented boons depending on your build. My flame trap and ice trap manage to give people fire/ice aura. Then my healing spring not only removes conditions from myself but anyone that is in it, WHILE if someone has a blast finisher it makes that massive splash healing for even more. Not to mention some pets give boons and also remove conditions from others (bears).
I have to say, I’m incredibly glad I got my necro to 80. I’m running a d/d wells build and kitten is it awesome. I love the necro class, and I don’t know why I didn’t make one earlier but better late than never. The ONLY problem I have is that my wells don’t stun break/give stability, which means I have to be extra careful when running dungeons with heavy knockdown enemies (AC is a good example). That, and the severed dagger skins (Halloween dagger skins) don’t properly turn. Whenever I attack, it looks like I’m wailing hits on an enemy with the end of the dagger, rather than the actual blade. It is an incredibly minor thing and I don’t expect a fix for that anytime soon, but it is still bothersome. Other than that, I absolutely love this class <3
ATTACHMENT: A better view of how the dagger is held, when the blades should be held upside down instead of how it is.
Relaxed? Lol, well for some of you maybe but for those of us who have no hope of ever completing the snowball mayhem achievements, not so much. :/
It isn’t a necessity you know
Spawn of Chucky
Hahaha how did I not think of this
It’s the same as selling drops in Aion or selling run throughs in GW1. Don’t hate on people making money. just because YOU don’t like it, doesn’t mean it’s wrong. I for one totally support it!
I definitely agree with this. In GW1, thieves were payed to “run” people to certain areas (because they were the fastest class in GW1). Not a single person had a problem with this, and obviously not Anet, and people gladly payed thieves to run them to areas. Hell I bet I can go back to GW1 and still find people who will do runs for payment
I do agree that these dungeons, especially AC, are definitely not beginner friendly. I’ve run AC more times than I can remember(4 toons with the AC PTV armor) and I can’t even remember how many people I’ve had to teach each dungeon path as we went on. The problem is that there is just one too many trash mobs, some with insane HP pools, and of course those horrendous scavengers that if you don’t have stun breakers/stability, you are absolutely screwed. Sure you can dodge it, but scavengers are NEVER alone, and you can only dodge 2 times before you have to wait until your endurance is refilled. To make things EVEN WORSE, those scavengers have INSANE hitboxes that can hit you even if you’re not near them. This has happened many, many times and it is incredibly annoying. So even if you dodge them, if you get anywhere near them you’re still screwed.
Also, they might be limiting the use of fire tails because human, norn, sylvari, and asura players who buy CoF armor might feel shafted. They have no tails at all
No, but when wearing light armor their arms turn into a lava/rock sort of combination. It’s hard to describe it, but they also get an effect on their arms.
As for medium armor, no, they also do not get any special effects. As a matter of fact, medium armor gets screwed because there is a glitch where for some reason the coat hides your shoulders.
I like these suggestions. Thank you everyone for helping I’m thinking of going PVT armor with some crit jewels, but definitely the PVT armor.
I never understood why FOTM is in one of the most busiest and fullest cities in the game. The load time is bad enough when there aren’t even holidays going on, so why would Anet make it even worse by placing FOTM in LA? The load times having to go to LA is ridiculously long. It has gotten to the point (during prime time) where the load is so bad I go get a drink or something, come back, and it still hasn’t loaded. Even during the quieter times, it still takes a while to load.
Why isn’t it in Southsun Cove? I mean new map, new dungeon, makes sense.
Hm, was thinking of going dagger/warhorn but I wasn’t sure. Should I keep staff as my secondary weapon just for the marks?
I doubt they’ll ever be more than just collectibles. Mini pets were the same thing in GW1, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they stayed that way now in GW2
Even IF Anet implements a collectibles tab, it will probably be like what it is now and only go up to 250. Which means you’ll still have a ton of tokens in your bank even with 250 in your collectibles.
because not every skill on their bar is at the same range as their weapon, and more often than not they may be waiting for an opportunity to switch weapons and melee.
depends on class ofc, also consider that with abilities that pierce enemies postioning is key and is more often than not more useful the closer you are to your enemy because it’s easier to change your projectile trajectory and hit more enemies at once.
.
This pretty much should sum it up. On my ranger, I’m NEVER at 1,200 range because my traps are, at max, 600 range. While I would LIKE to be at 1,200 at all possible times, my utilities don’t allow me to be at my max range.
I absolutely agree with this. When I run dungeons with my ele, I usually use d/d but have staff in my inventory just in case. Same thing with my ranger, since our bows sometimes don’t hit objects (burrows, statues, etc.), I carry a GS with me and switch to that if I have to.
Well until I see someone with glass cannon who makes my jaw drop from being amazing at it, I still stand by my opinion.
No Groovy, never. I TRY to stay positive, but every glass cannon I’ve encountered just immediately and constantly goes down, which is basically 4 manning the dungeon while carrying around a dead body. That’s just warriors, I don’t even want to get into the thief glass cannons I’ve encountered…
because numbers
WHAT numbers? You’re dead before you get to use all your skills
Is it even worth it to make your wells ground targeting? I mean if I’m going d/d, I don’t see why ground targeting would be useful
I will never understand why people would prefer to go full offensive without ANY vit/tough and constantly grief the team they’re in. I was just in AC with 3 glass cannon warriors, and wow that was the most horrendous experience I’ve ever encountered. I don’t see how glass cannon even helps the team if you’re constantly going down, even IF you put out burst damage before being flicked by the slightest enemy.
Just why?
I fortunately was able to buy the collector’s edition (the giant box with the statue) and in it, was “the best of Guild Wars soundtrack”.
Arena Net thank you SO much for recruiting Jeremy Soule as the composer. Absolutely beautiful, beautiful music. If you aren’t familiar with Jeremy Soule, he has done a ton of music for various games but most notably (as of recently, aside from GW2) is Skyrim.
So far my favorite are:
The Charr Triumphant – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_eBh5KiISYY
The Saga of the Norn – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MhNeZZ-oRPE
Fear Not This Night – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlBvKzc8Odo
By the way, for those of you don’t know what OST is, it means original soundtrack
Does anyone know what build uses d/d with wells? I remember running AC with a necro who had d/d and using wells. Needless to say, that was the FASTEST run I’ve ever done, even faster than having elementalists. A friend of mine once said “d/d wells crit” but…I have no idea how to even approach that
EDIT: I should mention that I only do PvE
EDIT 2: The necro I played with was a LONG time ago. It was definitely male, though I wasn’t sure if it was human or sylvari, but I’m going to say human most likely. He had full dry bones armor.

The only mace I seem to like is the Ravaging Glyphic Maul. It’s super cheap and has some animations to it
Dontain I like his videos, and his reaction was hilarious haha
Is it true that Halloween Endless Tonics drop from ToT bags? I have quite a few bags, and if this is true, I’m not sure whether to take my chances and open them all or just wait. Selling the bags doesn’t really give you much the last time I checked
I just got it on my second try
Hey thanks for this I tried it with my ventari frame (since I wasn’t going to get the mini anyway) and nailed myself an endless ventari toy tonic
Sigh was hoping that would be it, as 4 of us (since one left) spent about half an hour looking everywhere
This seemed to be the ONLY thing missing, but we couldn’t hit it no matter what we did. Or am I wrong?
Seems like it. I also lost all my guild points AND every upgrade
