Man I would love to see GW2 on the Xbox One. I haven’t been able to play at all for the past 6 months because my laptop is an overheating POS. I’ve only been able to log in, get my daily chest and log out before this thing begins trying to summon the devil himself (aka it overheats like crazy). Hell I’d be willing to pay another $60 for a console version to be honest, already put in more than $500 in to this game so why not
I will literally have a pizza party at my house the day Anet does account wide dungeon unlock
Terrible wording. We were confused at first too. Its like ANet doesn’t even speak English anymore in their changelogs because lately they’ve been confuzzling.
Here’s what it actually means:
- When you reach a certain level, skill points are “unlocked”.
- When you reach a certain level, vistas are also “unlocked”.
- Once this has happened the account is flagged to always have them unlocked for every new character that you create in the future.
Ohhhhhhh! I haven’t made a new character to try out the new leveling system, and the lowest character I have had already hit 30 before the patch hit. I didn’t realize vistas/skillpoints were locked until a certain level. Thanks for clearing that up though, I will admit, I got pretty excited thinking I could finally do map completion on multiple toons haha.
Think it means you can see them on new characters if you have one character that can see them.
That…still makes no sense to me
- Fixed a bug that prevented some accounts from having vistas now unlock on an account-wide basis rather than a per-character basis.
- Skill challenges now unlock on an account-wide basis rather than a per-character basis as originally intended.
Someone explain this to me because I’m honestly confused…so if I get a vista/skillpoint on a character, I have the option of unlocking it on all toons? I mean I tried doing that on some of my characters and nothing happened, so I must be reading it wrong.
You don’t have to be rooted. Pop it then break the channel by moving, and you still gain the absorption field. You just can’t see it. The only downside to this is you can’t gain the heal from the detonate, however that heal is fairly small anyways.
Wait, what heal? Plus, it doesn’t exactly work as a shield per say, since you still can’t block melee attacks
Why do you make 3 guardians? Just use one and buy the gear to change stats.
Because I originally made, what everyone else did, a norn guardian. That norn has gone through multiple sex changes its ridiculous, so I made an asura guardian since they’re kitten cute. But, everytime I do fractals and its that Ascalon fractal where it turns you into a charr, well, I wanted a charr guardian lol…
The shield has two function, when you first use it will create the dome that has AoE knockback and projectile absorption. Then you can choose to detonate it, this will destroy the dome, yet it heals you and five nearby allies. It’s a 1300 heal with a .2 multiplier, so lets say you have 1000 healing power, it’ll heal for 1500 instead.
You’re not talking about the spirit weapon shield, are you? I’m talking about the shield you actually weild
Yes, I’m talking about the offhand shield.

….Wow, I actually never knew you could pop the dome
It seems to be the norm now where people have multiple characters, either having one of each profession or just having multiples of each class, or a specific class. From what I’ve seen, more and more people are having more than 10 characters, and for those of us that do, you know how annoying it is to have to switch between every toon. This is just an idea I’ve had going on, but I would love for people to put down their own ideas as well to revamp the character select screen. Here’s what I’ve come up with so far (see photo below)
- Character select screen will be on the left side, with rows and columns. I forgot to add an arrow that indicates to go down and show you the next row and columns, for those who have more toons and an arrow to go back up
- Character info will stay in the same spot as it is right now
- With character select to the side, your toon now has more space to actually show you the model. For those of us who have charrs and made them the biggest they can go, you’ll realize your charr is cut off because it doesn’t fit on the screen
- Account info panel will be a pop-in, pop-out menu. You can click to hide it, or click to show it. It would still contain your dailes, monthlies, and achievements points, as well as your account badges
- Additionally to your achievements and badges, it would also show you your character’s gear and crafting profession(s). This would save people A LOT of time by not having to log in to each and every character to figure out who has what crafting profession(s), plus it will show you what level your character’s crafting profession is at. On top of cutting down on the time it takes to figure out who has what crafting profession, there are a few of us who cannot afford multiple ascended gear or legendaries, so we tend to swap gear from one toon to another. It is annoying having to figure out who you last gave all of your ascended trinkets to in order to have done, say, Fractals.
I don’t think I have to explain that last bullet point but, I’ll give an example anyway: Say you want to do a level 20 fractal on your engineer. Your engi only has ascended rings and the rest of your engi’s trinkets are exotic. Your elementalist just happens to be sharing the same stats as your engi, plus your ele has all ascended trinkets. So, you grab your eles ascended trinkets, put it in the bank, swap to your engi and give it to your engi just to run fractals. You run fractals, you’re done, but you forget to switch the gear back to your ele. The next day you log in to your ele, and you notice all your ascended trinkets are gone. You forgot who you lent it to, so now you have to go toon by toon checking to see who has it. With the account info panel showing your character’s gear, you can see who has what by cutting down the time it takes to log in to each toon, loading the screen, and checking their gear.
Again this is just an idea I’m throwing out there, and I would love to know how you guys think the character select screen should be revamped! (Bonus points for actually making a visual representation)

So I’m working on my third guardian, and I’ve been using sword/shield to level up. I’ve been thinking, would it really be bad at all if skill 5, which creates a giant bubble that absorbs projectiles but roots you in place, would be able to be used while moving around? On top of being able to move around, would it really be a “broken” thing if you could block both projectiles and melee attacks? The giant bubble would absorb projectiles, while anything that goes inside the bubble will be blocked by your actual shield. I mean, warrior shield does it without creating such a massive bubble around themselves AND they can move around. Not to mention, if traited, they gain might for every block.
With guardian, even when traited to reduce cooldown on shield, is still on a pretty giant cooldown. As for skill 4, well, that needs to be completely changed. I don’t know, its just a thought I had, but I was pretty disappointed to see they didn’t change anything to shield or hammer for guardians this upcoming patch.
+1
15 characters, 17 slots here. Would be nice if the little photos of each toon would stack on top of each other, instead of it all being in one line. But then I guess you wouldn’t be able to see your toon…
Hm, what if they placed the toon picture on the left side of the character select screen and in the middle your character model would appear? That way you have rows and columns instead of the way it is now
Huh…still haven’t finished Edge of Destiny yet, and GoA is next on my list. Still, I find it somewhat bothersome seeing my charr grip a sword or something with its claws out. That can’t be comfortable
I’m sure I’m not alone when it comes to forming a dungeon group and, lo and behold, there’s someone using every single signet available to them and you just groan and roll your eyes, with the intent to just kick them. I’ve literally seen 3 signet eles, 3 signet rangers, 3 signet mesmers, 3-4 signet guardians, and of course the infamous 5 signet warrior. I don’t know about you guys, and I know some signets are very good, but I absolutely hate selfish builds. I mean kitten , if we’re running a dungeon, try to give at least a LITTLE group support. Even in an entire zerk team, it is still possible to give group support (banners, spirits, traits benefiting groups, boon sharing).
So, since team work is such a huge thing in GW2, why not make the signets benefit the entire group? They could have, say, a 600 range or so. I only say 600 because, knowing Anet, they would probably make it about 300 range or smaller, benefitting melee users only and not ranged users. The group would only benefit from the passive, and the individual user benefits from the active part of the signet. Ideally, I would love it if signets benefitted the whole group both passively and actively but I’m sure if that were to be the case, signets would have to be nerfed pretty hard OR Anet would have to introduce new traits which lets everyone benefit from the active as well.
So, thoughts?
Lorewise, the claws are retractible.
In retractible claws, the tip digit simply rotates backwards so when they makes a fist or hold something the surface area of the tip digit would still provide surface area. It just wouldn’t be the surface area in the same place on that last digit as you or I.
Wait, really? I have never, ever heard of of the claws being able to retract.
It always bothers me whenever I play any of my charr characters. How exactly CAN they have a firm grip on anything when they have such giant claws? Obviously they can’t completely ball up their fist like every other race. I try to imitate the way they “ball up” their fists by closing by hand but instead of curling in the fingers, I leave them straight out. I don’t know about you, but that isn’t comfortable at all and I don’t see how to have a firm grip on things.
Lol when I read the title of this thread I literally threw my hands up and said “I KNOW RIGHT??”
I currently have 14 characters, all at 80 fully geared except for the last one, who is currently 29. What really ticks me off is the fact that the birthday scrolls LEVEL you up to 20 instead of GIVING you 20 levels. Honestly, I really wish Anet would just change them to give 20 levels. If they changed the birthday scrolls to GIVE 20 levels, I’ll happily buy more toons.
And you’re probably wondering, “but you only get 1 birthday scroll, why would you get more toons?” Well, you get the scrolls per character. I currently have 8 of those scroll sitting in my bank. 8 scrolls, each level you up to 20, if Anet changed it to give 20 levels, that’s literally 160 levels.
A little off topic but, what server are you doing Teq? TC doesn’t do Teq anymore unfortunately
How bad would my condi be affected if I switched out Terror for Master of Corruption? Idk, just seems like that reduced cooldown would be very nice to have
if you feel ok giving up 800 -1.3k dmg go for it.
What? Jesus that’s insane

Flow – I’ve been meaning to ask: Why Perplexity? I don’t understand where the confusion is coming from since, as far as I know, necros don’t have a steady amount of confusion. Unless I’m wrong? Also, the only reason why I had Signet of the Locust on there was just for the increased movement speed
Brando – I like it, but since you’re using spectrals/corruptions, wouldn’t it be better to have the reduced cooldown trait on one of them?
it would be nice but I dont think its heavily needed.
I can always change my utilites for different situations as well as my traits but I always stay 0/30/20/20/0
Hm alright, one more question though: Would the sigil that gives you +10 condition damage for every foe you kill be a better bet than geomancy?

I’ve been browsing the forums for a good hour now looking for pure condition builds, and I still haven’t been able to come up with anything. I was thinking of going 30/20/20/0/0 with staff and corruptions. I’ve been tinkering around a lot on the GW2 build editor website, and I’ve definitely come down to wanting to use Staff and scepter/focus (although people say scepter/dagger is better for the condi removal and aoe weakness).
Basically, here’s what I’ve come up with so far:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fQMQNAW7djMat7pbKb87JEJFXzzA9490FQMSBxYMA-jwxAoOBZKAEtAg+AnJLiGr6GTHTEVDA-e
Only reason why there aren’t any runes on the armor is because I’m having a ridiculously hard time trying to choose one. I should say this is primarily for WvW in zergs, while occasionally doing PvE (MAYBE Fractals, maybe).
I’m sure I’m not alone when I say this but, it would be amazing if the experience scrolls you get from birthday gifts gave 20 levels upon using them rather than getting a low level character to 20. Not only would it make it easier for those of us who have multiple characters to level up, but even at level 80 it could be used to give people 20 skill points.
I have about 7 of these sitting in my bank and I know for sure I’m not going to make 7 more characters just to get them to 20.
I’ve just been browsing the necro forums for a while and I always see everyone recommending axe/warhorn, never dagger/warhorn
Why is axe a preferred weapon for wells? This is what I’m currently running for PvE
I’ve tried axe and to me, it just doesn’t seem to deal as much damage as dagger. I could be wrong, but its what it seems like to me personally.
At present the increase is only active while in combat, the December 10th patch should see this bonus apply out of combat and also move it to the Arcane adept tier (swappable with blasting staff).
Ah ok then, thank you very much
Does this trait even work? I’m definitely walking slower and as soon as I put on Signet of Air, I’m going faster.
Ah ok thank you I will try that
Right click their names in the chat screen and click report.
Even if I were to do that, none of the options you get from the menu seems to fit this. Closest one is “LFG abuse system,” and I’m not sure that would count would it?
Is there any way to report players for kicking you out of a dungeon at the end of the boss? I have their names, just don’t know how to or where to report
So, my Asura necro use to make this cute battle cry when I would siphon health (dagger 2 skill). Now, whenever I summon minions or use a channeling skill, she does this…horrendous “battle cry” which sounds more like her dying. What the hell happened?
I don’t crash, but I definitely get disconnected when I enter those chambers
Why no blasting staff though?
What if I told you, you could change it up by just useing the same staff bunker spec with all it’s amazing traits for team and self support, with very high base values.
But just gear yourself with all berserker or berserkervalk trinkets. PVT armor or throw in berserker on shoulders/gloves/boots aswell.
You start blowing people up.Or did I understand wrong? Was it that you were bored and stuck on the 103030?
I thought 103030 was support?
I’ve been reading the forums quite a bite and everyone seems to lean in on 2 different builds:
http://intothemists.com/guides/1514-staff_bunker_cleric_nuker
Or
Something with 20 in earth magic for Rock Solid.
And honestly, I love the idea of Rock Solid but, even if I did go 20 in earth, then what? I mainly want to do staff with some support and more damage. So, 20 in earth and 20 in arcana (for Blasting Staff)? I still have a few more trait points to spend. Another thing I keep reading is to either go full celestial or do some crazy combination with knight, cavalier, berserker, and valkyrie. I mean, what? My stats would be all over the place would it not?
Also, after seeing what it takes to make celestial armor, I really rather just not use that at all.
(edited by ZeroArmada.9426)
I’m very close to finishing my legendary! I’m going for the Juggernaut and all I’m missing is:
-Map completion (mainly WvW)
-Gift of Might and Magic
I cannot seem to do the new path for whatever reason. Everytime I get to the Slick and Sparki fight, my entire computer crashes. I’ve tried lowering EVERYTHING to to lowest it can go, still does it. I don’t understand why this happens. I can lower the levels on everything and be able to stand in a zerg without my computer crashing, but a simple boss fight and I crash? And this seems to only be happening to me
So I have to make a new create, use that experience scroll on it (the one that levels your alt to 20) and just keep it in Lions Arch…Well kitten
I would save for the precursor. In the process of saving (which could take a while), Anet MIGHT release the ability to craft a pre. Its a matter of waiting for which comes first. While waiting and saving, throw in your rare weapons you receive from Mega Boss loot or sell it of course if you dont want to gamble.
As for Silver Doubloons, there’s 2 ways to farm them. You can farm humaniod enemies, bandits/centaurs for Bags within the level 20-30 range. You are looking for Light or Medium Loot bags. Second way is to do jps with a character that’s around level 24-26 since they have a chance to look a chest at their level.
And of course best and efficient way is to farm gold and just outright buy them. Do your some dungeon runs and buy a few each day.
Wait, why can’t I just do JP’s on a level 80?
So I’m trying to go for The Juggernaut for my guardian, but I’m a little conflicted.
First, the precursor itself: The Colossus. I frequent BLTC forums religiously, though I never post. I just read, take in information, make notes, and move on to the next thread. Right now, at the making of this thread, The Colossus sits at 570g and seems to be only going up. Should I save up my gold and buy it out right, or wait for a while? I kept reading something about precursor crafting and how precursors will go down in prices but, I’m not sure.
Second, silver doubloons. Are there any particular ways of getting these? Its ridiculous how they skyrocketed to 1g each. The Gift of The Juggernaut requires 250 silver doubloons, that’s ~386g. I was told there’s a recipe to getting them, but its a 5% chance of getting them…
People will get their birthday gifts when their character turns 1 year.
How do you know this for sure?
There’s this “birthday gift” people are going to receive on August 20 if you have a character who is a year old?
Hope that isn’t the case…my character is 11 months |:
I keep thinking about how Anet would go about adding new weapons and re-arranging the trait trees. I don’t know if its just me, but the way this game is designed, it doesn’t seem like they can add weapons because of how traits are. Hell some traits are horrendous for quite a few classes as it is.
I don’t understand the problem with this. So what is people are farming baubles bubbles? Everything you get with it are account bound anyway.
I have 8 toons, and I’m sure others have more than 2 toons by now so again, I don’t see why this is a problem.
I’d like to see a simple list of people’s concerns with each dungeon, including FOTM. You do not have to list ALL of the dungeons, just any that you’d like to touch upon or have serious issues with. It could be pros and cons, or just pros, or just cons, it doesn’t matter just list it in this format:
<Dungeon Name>
<Specific path (optional)>
<Concern>
I’ll start it off
Ascalonian Catacombs:
I only have 3 issues with this dungeon. Enemies now have a higher HP pool, some of them seem to hit much harder, and the whole dungeon is literally consisted of constant CC (Crowd Control). Anything that ISN’T a hatchling will knock you down or knock you back.
Caudecus Manor:
I haven’t done this dungeon since the various patches that have come out, but the last time I remember doing this dungeon it was horrendous. Disgusting FOV (Field of View), claustrophobic design, infinite amounts of enemies spawning, and a whole mess of glitches/bugs
Twilight Arbor:
I’ve only ever done this dungeon once, and I didn’t even finish it. On top of that, it was before any patches for dungeons had come out. I remember having a horrible time with those exploding flowers or whatever they are. After that, it was confusing because instead of choosing paths, you had to choose to go up or down, left to right, I was completely confused. What really got to me and completely turned me off from going to that dungeon ever again was fighting some boss (or mini boss I don’t remember). I remember it was a female, and I think her name started with a V but again, I hardly remember the fight but I do remember her practically one shotting everyone to death.
Sorrow’s Embrace:
Never done this dungeon. Although, everyone always tells me its nothing but a zerg rush, and I believe this. Since this dungeon deals with those god forsaken dredge, I can imagine it IS a zerg rush AND there’s constant CC.
Citadel of Flame:
My only problem is path 3. Specifically, that boss. He has crazy, crazy high HP, and hits ridiculously hard. Not only that, if you fall into the lava, there is no chance in hell anyone can revive you because for some reason the lava is constantly hitting you even AFTER you’re dead. (Side note: I don’t understand why everyone wants this dungeon “nerfed.” Who cares if people farm it? Let them, its not like they farm this the ENTIRE day, as DR (diminishing returns) hits you pretty quick)
Honor of the Waves:
I use to do this dungeon quite frequently before any patches. I don’t know why I stopped, but I did. My only problem was every mini boss and boss has crazy amounts of HP. However, it seems like in the world of GW2, any boss that is a norn seems to have crazy amounts of HP. I’m wondering if that’s intentional…
Crucible of Eternity:
Use to do it constantly with a guild using Vent (Ventrillo). Ever since I left that guild many months back, I personally feel like I can’t do this with PUGs (Pick Up Groups) as this dungeon requires some serious communication.
The Ruined City of Arah (Or just Arah):
I’ve never fully done this dungeon. My only experience with this was when someone on my friend list asked me to help them with Lupicus whatever the hell his name is and my goodness, what a HORRIBLE experience that was. Completely avoided this dungeon.
Fractals of the Mists:
3 places are a pain for me -
-Swamp (traps everywhere, TWO champions!, and even more traps…)
-Dredge (My only problem is that there’s 2 bosses with crazy HP. Why 2?)
-Grawl (Once you hit FOTM 10 and up, you can BARELY see that stupid arrow that, if it hits you, you get destroyed by agony. That, and my fingers hurt from just constantly having to walk around the whole place because you can’t stand still)
It seems to me that Kholer has been spamming his spin to win attack way too often. Maybe its just me, but I doubt it.
For rangers I would carry a greatsword, then switch back to whatever you had before
I was a bit happy with the torch nerf they did to p3, but that path is still too unbearable to do. I’m not saying you CAN’T do it, because you can, but it is just unbearable. The boss isn’t the only issue unfortunately.
I really try not to but, whenever a thief joins my party to do a dungeon I always sigh. Personally, I just feel thieves don’t bring anything to the table. I’ll never kick them, but I don’t like it especially considering they are ALWAYS the first ones to go down constantly.
