Meta builds after changes

I think blood magic will be included. Vamp presence will be good in a team setting. Blood bond is great in conjunction with signets of suffering, especially since the lesser signet of vamp is on a 15 or 20 second cooldown. Really good might stacking as well as boon corruption.

Curses looks good, I’d probably just get lingering curses over weakening shroud. With might converting to 10 seconds of weakness you should have high weakness uptime, so you really are losing 2 stacks of bleeds every time you enter shroud. The 12 second bleeds on auto seem pretty good with lingering curses.

I’m looking at something like this: http://dulfy.net/gw2traits#build=AgQE9AK8AaQ~

Great might stacking, boon corrupting, condi output, survival, etc. I’d run similar utilities with a well, probably blind or stability well?

I like the looks of the condi builds.

Even if blood magic is amazing, Condition builds for necro will be close to the bottom of the barrel in terms of other classes condition builds.

I don’t know. I originally thought so as well, but looking at it closer I think Necro is going to be very strong.

The way Signet of suffering interacts with other traits..and well direct signets is going to make necro the only class that can reliably get around the new resistance buff.

Look at just how it interacts with the blood magic trait blood bond. When you hit four bleeds you will turn two buffs on the target to conditions, gain three stacks of might for 15 seconds, and put a 5 stack active life siphon on the target. That alone will do 1200 damage and heal you for 2k as long as you can eat all 5 stacks. Best thing yet is it only has a 15 or 20 second cooldown.

Basically you won’t be fighting through boons like other classes do, you will have incredible duration on your bleeds, and be very defensive.

I think necro is going to be good.

My only concern is the concern we have all had, removal. But with how we can constantly convert boons now, we will just have to see. Signet of locust being an AOE boon conversion is going to rock.

Minion Condi Necro will probably be powerful

Nice build. I’ve been looking at something very similar:

http://dulfy.net/gw2traits#build=AgQE_AKkA5Q~

Basically weakening shroud over lingering curse and shrouded removal over flesh of the master. This is just for a more survival based build vs. damage. Since that 100% base on lingering curse would make your bleeds from auto 12 seconds though, I’ll probably end up using it. That is a ton of extra damage. Definitely in PvE I’ll use it often.

If it works like I want it too I’ll be able to keep up permanent weakness and have solid up time on protection and fury as well. I’ll see though. I like this line of thinking.

Just something to test out I suppose, no doubt as you stated signets of suffering is really strong as well. All that free might and boon conversion is hard to pass up.

BTW, it was mentioned in the ready up that the lesser signet of vampirism from the blood bond trait had a shorter cooldown. I believe he said either 15 or 20 seconds. If that benefits from signet of suffering, I really am not sure I can get away from it. Just extremely powerful.

The solution is simple, make ascended gear have the same drop rate as exotics from the same sources exotics drop from currently.

Solves the WvW issue, the new player barrier, and you will be able to more easily mix in stats to your current ascended gear you lost from trait lines. Plus, if you hate crafting, your issues are solved as well!

I think it a great thing. Ascended takes alot of effort to make so the payoff should be reflected in that. It is not gamebreaking in the least and gives players something more to aim for.

If they normalize stats in WvWvW it would go a long way in making it less relevant. Or simply reduce the grind to obtain it severely.

It has a big impact on build diversity and playing alts.

Just casually looking at condi damage for each class, it appears mesmer will probably be the best, but I’m not exactly an expert on all classes.

What I learned from gw2 is: how people don’t appreciate good things and hold onto negativity blindly.
For example everyone forgets how:
- you need 0 grind to play pvp in gw2
- you can play any class at any moment in gw2 in pvp
- you don’t need stupid healers anymore and you’re free to choose your class as you like
Yea game is not perfect, but out of all mmos I played, its by far best. There is nothing even close to gw2 in my opinion.

Hold onto negativity blindly? I’m fairly certain everyone here has played the game and come to the conclusions based on that.

If you enjoy those features, great. I have to admit I thought it was a good thing coming into the game and some of those features are. The pvp though is repetitive and I miss direct healers.

Second is Warrior.
Thief only has the initial burst but is still spending the same resources they need to attack to keep up with other classes.

A-net from the beginning advertised thief was going to be the most mobile class. False advertising so far if you ask me.

Thief followed by elementalist.
25% base speed, 33% speed after dodging (3x), when I steal I gain 33% speed. Then to cover some ground faster than 33% run speed: heartseaker spam outjumps any permanent swiftness. Then you still have the shadowstep and other ports.
No one is outrunning my thief.

Wrong… Wrong…Wrong…

25% base speed from signet DOES NOT, DOES NOT stack with swiftness.
Dodge roll swiftness is lol what 3 seconds.

I’ve been trying to get my thief up to speed with my warrior, I’ve just not been able to do it.

Perhaps shadowstep is bugged and only giving half the range listed, but even then I don’t think I could keep up.

What exactly are you doing that makes your thief faster than a warrior with the rotation I listed above?

P.S. I’m not looking at a chasing roll, I’m talking about getting in between points.

My full speed run rotation is as follows.

Skills: Signet of shadows of course, Shadow step, and Infiltrator’s signet. (you can spec certain traits to reduce recharge time and increase initiative regen.

Dodge (with swiftness trait)
Sword pistol(2) click something far down range and activate
Steal Click something far down range, activate
Shadow step (same)
Dodge roll
Weapon swap
Infiltrator arrow x2
weapon swap
dodge roll
(10 seconds have gone by)
Sword Pistol (2)
Infiltrator’s signet (targeted at something down range)
weapon swap
Dodge roll
Infiltrator arrow x2 (depending on initiative recharge)
weapon swap
(20 seconds have gone by)
Sword Pistol (2)
Steal (Target down range) (this is assuming you have points in trickery)

You can also use Withdraw by turning around and using it (I don’t get this fancy but it would increase your speed)

By now you should see the rotation, use cds to make up for lack of initiative. This is by far faster than any other class.

Note: You don’t want to hit anything with the teleport skills cause it will put you in combat. Target something just on the edge of view. Also note you can go up/over a lot of terrain with the tps and arrow. The best example of this is “wall running”. You can get high up along a wall with a lot of impassible running terrain, and then use your tps and infiltrator’s arrow to run along it. People have a real hard time chasing.

You should also see the instant gap closer i’m talking about. Sword (2), Shadow step, Infiltrator’s signet, and then steal. You can also toss the experimental teleportation gun in there for an extra 1500. But all classes can use that so I don’t really count it.

Yeah, that is pretty much what I do on my thief. I’ve just found it not as good and reliable as on my warrior.

First, steal doesn’t port me at all unless I’m in range of my target. Perhaps I’m missing something here.

Second, sword 2 has an effective 15 second cooldown and requires me to have something targetted in my line of travel.

Third, having a target available to target down range isn’t always possible. Non aggressive mobs require a click to target for me.

If swiftness stacked with other speed increases, I’d be all over the thief, but I just find it unreliable and not as fast overall as the warrior. Chasing is another story, because it is also easy to get out as a thief.

Anyway, I’m gonna get back into WvW on my thief and try to improve mobility.

Thieves have the most mobility, period.

There are major areas people are discussing, marathon chases, short distance chase, and close range combat.
Thieves are the best at all of these. If you think otherwise, the thief you are comparing to, is really bad.

Short duration chases. Did you know that! Thieves can instant teleport to max targetable range within about 1-2 second. And then return to the original spot anytime within 10 seconds. (somewhere round 4400 range if i did the math on the 4 skills right, and i’m not talking about infiltrator arrow)

Running the Marathon. This is the only area where another class may have a chance, but infiltrator arrow wins by a long shot (literally). If the thief is using their CDs properly no other classes can match their travel speed.

Close range combat. Haha, yea well this: 4 instant teleports, 3 dodge rolls, 25% base movement, infiltrator arrow, and this is leaving out invis because that is more survivability than mobility.

Notes: Only thieves can chase thieves. If you run from a thief you are going to have a bad time. Heartseeker spam, really? If you think heartseeker is good for mobility, that is the problem. You are comparing noob thieves to good other classes. It would be like comparing a 3 year old swimming to Micheal Phelps.

Race me any time, you will not have a good time.

Edit: If you caught a thief, grats. You got killed! Only time you catch a thief is when they want to get caught.

I’ve been trying to get my thief up to speed with my warrior, I’ve just not been able to do it.

Warrior can have 100% swiftness uptime and can switch between GS and Sword for leaps. I’m not sure how it compares to thieves, but I get to places before anyone else.

Judging by test races, thief wins slightly in the beginning, but we pull ahead over time.

Warriors have the best sustained mobility with Sword/Horn.
Thief comes in only slightly slower.
Elementalist is probably the next, but they aren’t terribly safe to scout with.

I’ve not raced any thiefs, but I run a full speed build. I use 6/6 rune of speed, greatsword, and sword/horn.

I’ve noticed even in the initial burst, I can not be caught. You do sword leap, bulls rush, dodge, dodge, sword leap, weapon switch, GS rush, whirlwind, dodge, weapon switch, and sword leap.

I cover a huge amount of distance in that time. I don’t have stealth though, which makes a thief slippery, but then again, I use the break immobilize trait.
