Commander on Tarnished Coast [RE]
Greatsword Ranger before it was cool

… Signed.
GW1 had basically everything account bound, and you could spend PVP faction to unlock skills for PVE heroes across all characters. In addition, many of the items you can buy with karma are account bound. I agree with account karma.
Perhaps while we’re at it we can redefine the concept of “soulbound,” and reconcile it with the Guild Wars 1 idea of customization. Certain items like story rewards and such will always be soulbound, but nothing else will be. Instead, soulbound becomes a right click choice for gear that increases both its stats (power, vit, etc) and its damage/armor by 25% (to the current values). So you might be able to use and resell that exotic level 80 greatsword, but unless you make it soulbound you will only get 75% of the benefit (meaning you might as well use a level 80 karma green).

^^^ SSD. My loading times are 2-5 seconds long depending on the area. This is a problem that affects people with cutting edge hardware much less than others. I can probably run the gauntlet by the time you finish loading a direct waypoint travel. They should just make it free to do instantly for the convenience of people that don’t or can’t afford to put GW2 on SSD.
Sure, as long as there’s no flying ones.
Also they should only provide an equivalent to permanent swiftness in terms of speed (which certain professions can maintain or approach anyway). The addition of mounts that offer speed equivalent to out of combat + swiftness would equalize balance / convenience between professions.
Also, make ranger pets scale in size with the level (and maybe race) of their owner, and allow riding certain kinds. Perhaps have a slider that lets you determine how big your pet is, with the higher areas being unlocked with level. Why? Bear cavalry.
Norn. Bear. Cavalry.
I support compulsory PVP to get legendary weapons, which means I support the gift of battle and the inclusion of the WvW zones in 100% map completion. People too afraid to face human opponents, in my opinion, do not deserve legendary weapons. Legendaries are meant to show mastery of the game, which happens to include two very prominent kinds of PVP with a third supposedly on the way. Pure PVEers have not, and will never “master” GW2, so they should not get legendaries.
Don’t care. Fight or die.
I want my POIs / vistas. I am not obligated to stop and kill the mobs that want a nibble on my arm, nor am I obligated to spend an extra hour or so on a map clear doing so.
It would need some improvements, but overall the Hunger Royale event was great!
I’m all for it! But I’m not sure if sPvP is the right place for that kind of content…
WvW, which is what Hunger Royale was. It was blind cross-server. I had someone on my team who was playing on Maguuma while I was on JQ. He was our last man standing. Never ran into anyone from outside our WvW matchup though.
Ah, don’t forget that there is a hidden greatsword that uses Twilight and Sunrise as components.
This still doesn’t justify 1H costs though due to the rifle, bows, and staff. 1H costs should drop.
Secondary professions a la GW1 present certain balance issues. However, it doesn’t mean we have to scrap them entirely. Instead we could have a new system that allows the borrowing of non-elite utility skills. We could limit it too, using the Anet defined classes of soldiers (guard and war), adventurers (thief, engineer, and ranger), and scholars (necro, ele, and mesmer).
Any member of a class could unlock utility skills of other professions for double skill point cost after reaching level 60 or so and seeing a trainer. They’d still have to obey tiers, making that coveted third tier utility from another profession a thoughtful investment. There would be no performance / cooldown nerf on the skills themselves. Some skills wouldn’t be available due to missing mechanics like ranger pet skills. Some skills would be weaker on other classes no matter what for other reasons such as Engineer skills (belt skills).
How do we balance it though? Traits and profession attributes. Certain utilities are reliant on traits. Some of them could use traits from another profession (shouting traits for guards and wars), but many utility skills would be weaker on another profession by virtue of lacking traits to empower them. Skills from other classes would also not be able to benefit from profession attributes (eg necro minions and death magic). Due to traits, warriors would be able to cast consecrations, but they would never enjoy the enhanced duration and ground targeting that a support traited guardian can pick up as a trait. Secondary professions can be done, and done in a balanced way. It just takes a bit of limitation and forethought.
Objectively Charr for the racial battle cry utility. It overshadows the vast majority of Ranger utility skills. It gives fury (+20% crit) to you and allies near you, which includes your pet. It has a low CD too. Slyvari might be better for a specific support build, but Charr is inarguably the best ranger race in terms of raw combat potential.
Roleplay-wise Norn are probably the best fit though. Charr are more fit for warriors, engineers, and Ash Legion thieves.
The whole “500k karma” thing is a bit much … 250 ectos s questionable too.
IMO these are far more expensive than Obby, which is their rough equivalent.
Signed.
I also wouldn’t mind a hybrid PVE & PVP DE zone like the branded event they ran during beta. Maybe have a zone in Kralkatorrik’s expansion where you turn branded if you die to branded (and turn back if slain again, ofc).
Signed. It’s almost a trap for the people that don’t know about HOTM→LA→City.
I also wouldn’t mind waypoint costs being based off of the closest city instead of your current position, but that’s more complicated.
My mouse is going bad, which means single clicks get randomly turned into doubles. I picked up a $10 backup mouse a few days ago and will invoke warranty soon, but darn you anet! I didn’t want to buy that shank greatsword shank sword shank dagger of force!
There’s really no reason not to. If you can afford T3 cultural then the price of 80 exotic gear to ’mute over it is peanuts.

Something like this?
Albions are beautiful. I want one one day. Need my custom kat in first though, and need a bit more income to justify it. That model in particular is especially gorgeous. Could possibly find the furniture somewhere and have one of the more respected Chinese forges produce a blade. The better ones can run folded and laminated Euro blades too, for those of you that want unofficial replicas from a certain book series / TV show.
Anyway, more like this please Anet. I also wouldn’t mind a unification of most GW2 swords, whereby they can be wielded in one hand or both, where the stats and damage are increased to 2H values of an equivalent rarity and level GS if you choose to 2H it (see: D&D, Dark Souls). For some reason I absolutely love this as a gameplay mechanic.

The GW1 economy is currently grounded almost entirely in HOM-related items. Unidentified rares are worth more than even the best possible rares because they progress a title. Thus, any effect on the GW1 economy of giving Balth faction to owners of both games for GW2 sPVP is trivial, since the game’s economy already revolves around GW2 cosmetics. Anet already allows the economy in GW1 to wax wild with long, massive drop / title boosting events like Wayfarer’s Reverie, so it is clear that they already do not take the value of various elements of GW1 seriously. In addition, Obviously, PVP in GW2 should not grant the same amount of faction as most forms of PVP in GW1 but it would be a nice touch.
500K defenses … that’s not long term lmfao. Nobody will get that. You need to do the same event half a million times. You need to click off the event reward pop up 500K times. Most mouse button MTBFs are lower than that.

Yes, but there are NO pure melee class! Each class has both melee and ranged options, single target and AoE. When playing WvWvW, adapt, use ranged/AoE and good to go. It will not the world change for you, you have to adapt to the world.
That doesn’t mean ranged options should be abject superior in terms of damage output. This is a problem for PVE too. It’s easier in both to go ranged and kite enemies than it is to try and chase people down / stay in melee range. This game has the problem LoL had 2 years ago where ranged is king in PVP and equal or still better for PVE. We need systematic buffs to melee-oriented traits and some weapons to make them competitive or this will become a game where tournament teams consist exclusively of guardians (because of their sheer power as a class with the right build) as the only melee option that won’t get you laughed out the door.
Pushing you to the top, let’s get some new faces in here eh?

Eternal Mistguard is a single-server (Maguuma) North American guild focused on PVP – namely WvW. We will also field structured PVP teams when GVG / automated tournaments are added, but the main objective of the guild is to get results in WvW and have fun doing it. Eternal Mistguard is a guild for all players who want to be part of a cohesive team in World Versus World — even if those players spend much of their time in PVE or with other guilds. This is not an RP guild outside of a bit of fluff text here and there and a desire for reasonable character names. There are no rules regarding membership in other guilds beyond that our guild must be marked as represented during World vs World. Activity requirements are pretty lax. I would only boot someone if they weren’t on for a month and a half or more (and we need the space for new members), and would have no issue taking them back if they became active again. The focus here is efficient fun. The structure, the rules, the way the site is laid out, it’s all there to facilitate having fun in a way that also progresses real goals.
Another focus in forming the guild was making sure that there wasn’t too much structure. While the guild layout is rigid, it’s also quite simple and very straightforward. There are few rules for members outside of “represent us in WvW so we can get influence points for upgrades”, “treat each other right”, and “don’t have excessively stupid character names.” The high-level structure is also fairly simple and completely transparent. Every time the server match-up changes (normal changes only — IE the scheduled ones every two weeks — and after things stabilize more in the guild itself) the generals vote on a marshal for that matchup (who cannot be elected twice in a row). Their role is to function as a second guild leader when it comes to WvW in order to provide better cohesion and time coverage. This helps to ensure that there is always someone around to look after the guild’s interests and keep things moving along.
If you want to join, you can do one of two things. Either head to our website and post your character name in this thread — http://mistguard.org/forums/topic/post-here-for-guild-invites-release/ — or reply to this thread stating your interest. You could also try PMing me or Towelface, but either of the above two options is more persistent since neither of them relies on someone being online. If you post here or on our own forums someone will get your invite within an hour or two (unless you do it at, say, 5 AM).
