Would you think it’s fair if I was given 25 stacks of bleeding on my off-hand dagger earth 5 due to the difficulty in landing the skill?

This silly rhetorical questions is obviously bait into admitting that the trait is OP, when no one should be making prejudgments about such. We don’t even know what its internal cool down is (if it has one).

That being said, let me take the bait. Your question fails to add to this discussion, because we’re not talking about a specific skill as in earth 5; we’re talking about overall build difficulty. Interrupt Mesmers are inherently ~less easy~ to play than other Mesmer builds. That is fact.

This trait will serve as a buff/reward to those players who have effectively accomplished enough skill in order to use interrupt builds.

Okay sir, I’m bored and will play your game. Firstly, I cannot compare an Elementalist build in such a way as the builds don’t rely on a single mechanic. So to save typing out a list of balance changes which would be appropriate to the difficulty of the common builds I gave a single example.

Secondly, myself and many other players are very well aware of the potential problems this trait will cause.

Thirdly, there was no baiting, you’re just a bit crazy. The post was made because I found it annoying that people were trying to justify something like this with difficulty.

This trait will also make it harder for the ranger to avoid the reflected arrows and LB 2 will maybe hit its first attack more often but as always dodging will solve the rest.

I honestly wouldn’t worry about it too much Coulter as this trait prevents them from taking certain immunities applied through signets. You’ll be able to disrupt them much more easily.

Now that I have no glory and won’t ever be able to earn any I won’t have to worry about how I’m going to spend it but OMG these increased rank points are a total pain. Now the time it takes for me to have to open a rank chest is so much shorter, I’m just thankful no rank catchup system was implemented so that I don’t have to open chests for the previous 51 ranks and fill my bags with items.

At this rate Anet might delete PvP......

Ignoring the possibility of random sampling though a mandatory survey could be made available at the end of a skyhammer match in soloq. Ofc there should be limitations such as one vote per account and a minimum number of soloq games played before you’re given the survey.

Typically, there is a somewhat useful Blog Post before a huge change is rolled out, and the playerbase is free to discuss how that will affect the game for them! An example is the mention that ranks are intended to be removed when the new PvP progression system rolls out. This was super useful to mention – and the feedback given made this decision pull a complete 180’.

Currently, with this (hopefully) imminent PvP progression overhaul, things are locked up SO tight behind closed doors. I can only imagine one outcome, really.

We’ll have a lot to talk about, so be sure to catch the Ready Up this Friday.

Less talk, more action. Justin, when the patch rolls out, you get on your Mesmer and I will get on my lolwarrior and meet me on a 1v1 server. Then we will see how well this game was balanced over the past 5 months.

after playing pvp for 5 minutes i have found a way to get more people to enjoy this game mode. it is simple really… give every class a passive trait that instantly kills thiefs and mesmers in 10k radius. and i mean kill, not down.

Can we have a equal passive trait that instantly kills warriors, engineers, necros, rangers, elementalists, guardians as well?

I don’t know… that sounds a bit overpowered to me.

The Ready Up dates hint at it and considering the ESO release date of April 4th I highly doubt it will come any later.

Do not forget the feature build includes a relatively large amount of content for PvE aswell, the main source of income. As little a threat as ESO may seem a portion of profit will be lost if Anet doesn’t advertise and deliver fast enough despite whether or not ESO is a better game. People get involved and addicted, a bit like us sPvPers.

I like that the threads that initiate discussions on what is occasionally criticism of the way pvp has been developed in the game (or failed to develop) are locked and dismissed as not serving a purpose, while this one stays open. The double-think is strong here.

If asking questions is all the content of the next ready up I can’t see myself playing this game for much longer. So much potential gone to waste and it’s very saddening to watch.

The stupid part is that we don’t know whether these major changes will make the game any more desirable or not. We’re just waiting for a change of weather.

I usually get flamed for using alternative builds tbh. :p

The annoying part is when I hear an ele tell me I have more sustain when their build dishes out more healing. It’s like people can’t do maths and just blindly criticize without ever trying the build.

I’ve had someone tell me that armour of earth is overpowered once and that I’m being carried by it. Some people take the game too seriously and try a lot harder in 1v1s so just don’t become that person and enjoy the game with the build you want to play. I’m pretty sure they’re the ones losing out.

Why? Probably because once you land that perfect combo you often don’t kill the enemy and are left with close to no strong damage sources for the next 20 seconds. People don’t want a dumbed down game, they just want the same strengths that every other class has and that is quite understandable.

I agree with you though. High risk for high reward is what it should be about but nerfing 7 classes to the state of the ele is a lot more work than changing the ele to match the others.

Dagger doesn’t suffer nearly as much from this as scepter but ofc dagger mainhand isn’t usually viable atm.

I won’t offer any suggestions because I think the situation is more complicated that it seems. I will just explain some of my experiences.

Firstly, I main elementalist and spend a lot of my time in game dueling on Angz server. Fighting a thief is generally scary as a berserker elementalist for me as most players I encounter there are relatively experienced. Fighting a pistol whip thief I find to be borderline ridiculous. This is in a 1v1 situation where I have the advantage of being able to keep my eye on the opponent the majority of the time whereas in a tournament I do not and am at a large risk of sudden thief pressure due to their mobility around the map.

I find the skill alone not too difficult to avoid through dodges or countering however the problem escalates due to the ability to port. The thief does not lose much by wasting a pistolwhip at range. If I think he’s going to port pistol whip me I lose a dodge after which he can easily port pistol whip me. Using the typical build, forgive my numbers… I think his ability to do this is around once every 11 seconds.

So how do I counter the ports? When using fresh air scepter I blind the thief at range so the the stun doesn’t hit. With lyssa this is often difficult to do before the thief ports due to our shared range. Even when blinding the stun I’m then forced to waste dodge if I don’t move fast enough after he ports. Either way I will probably take some damage. Even when crippled or chilled and the thief has no ports he still can use pistol whip more times than my dodges regenerate. The 10 second chill from steal often results in game over after a lengthy fight for this reason because I cannot change to water for a removal and cannot change to air for a blind.

Then there is that moment where you do successfully avoid it and you have to wait one second to be able to damage them but often the thief just interrupts his skill and takes advantage of your unturned back in a hopeless attempt to damage them and proceeds to pistol whip you again.

When using a dagger in mainland your ability to counter all of this is greatly reduced. You have to rely on static aura which becomes a game of dodge after you’re both stunned or he’ll just pistol whip you again. Trying to damage the thief in melee range is too dangerous and your damage is comparably low to his. When not taking fresh air your chances of success are even less because you will lack the damage to scare the thief from entering melee and pistol whip you and the thief will simply out sustain it by switching to bow, making you waste your cool downs and then butchering you with pistol whip ports.

Ofc you can take focus, arcane shield and lightning flash. Lightning flash doesn’t stun break so the thief simply interupts pistol whip and uses 2 if you’re close enough or ports and repeats. Arcane shield is usually broken by the fast hits with pistol whip and does not damage the evading thief, only serving as a stun break and preventing 3 of 9 hits from pistol whip. When the thief sees earth 5 he simply dodges or evades in our chance to damage him and does the same with our water daze then proceeds to destroy. If we’re lucky enough to hit with gale he either stun breaks and dodges or ports away before we damage him.

Please remember this is what it’s like to fight only one pistol whip thief in a 1v1 situation. In a tournament it’s a lot worse.

I don’t think deathmatch should be taken seriously Leeto. It would just be fun to have in hotjoin is all. Let’s be honest, most players that take hotjoin seriously atm are mocked and most players that are casual don’t understand what’s going on

Tbh it’s not so much a problem with the skill. It’s the initiative system. The skill is easy to counter once but sadly initiative creates huge imbalance issues with the thief that allows specialisation on demand (ridiculous mobility, spamming evasion, spamming AoE with SB, spamming PW etc.).

I think the only way to fix thieves is a complete rework with initiative removed however given the pride in Anet’s balance team it likely won’t happen.

Actually, hambows aren’t a problem at all when using focus or bunkering staff. Multiple thieves however gives me trouble.

Sadly, I have the most success playing staff bunker as well, but I don’t really find it all that fun, and you are STILL better off playing another class, and thats even utilizing every trick you have to use your opponents skills against them. Its just sad that there are a few problem specs out there that force everyone to go heavy bunker/tank, because the optimum builds for those rolls can’t be touched.

Ever bunkered against two pistol whip thieves? It’s so horrible.

I know how to play other professions but it has gotten to the point where I feel like less of a liability in tournaments when playing my Elementalist. It really pays off.

I guess you don’t run into teams with a lot of thieves or hambows…or any of the other less popular builds that hard-counter ele. Every fight is uphill, and some are of those fights are so uphill that they cannot be scaled at all.

Actually, hambows aren’t a problem at all when using focus or bunkering staff. Multiple thieves however gives me trouble.

The class is generally at a disadvantage in tpvp and so people give up early on, which is understandable.

If you stick to it though you’ll find it’s a lot more rewarding than any other class and with experience over time you’ll learn a lot and will have a much less stressful time.

Just keep playing the class, try out popular builds and most importantly learn your enemies skills.

I know how to play other professions but it has gotten to the point where I feel like less of a liability in tournaments when playing my Elementalist. It really pays off.

The reason they can’t reveal the content is because it’s arguably not smart marketing. I mean… they will lose part of a minority community as a result but that community probably spends the least in real cash for gems. The new community after the massive content is released will mainly consist of experienced pvers that are used to spending money on gems for pve suited items plus this community won’t have a negative past.

As harsh as it sounds, why should they tell us now? They’re hardly losing out. The money they make by timing their release information is much more important.

As it stands, people are forced to dodge randomly because it’s hard to tell whether it’s a Reaper’s Mark or a Mark of Blood

It’s actually quite easy to tell which is getting cast. Reaper’s Mark has the necro thrusting their staff out, then pulling it back.

Now, Mark of Blood vs. Putrid Mark I could understand. Those two are extremely similar animations.

Signets are likewise not an issue, since the signet image appears above the caster’s head when activated.

I’m sorry but I completely disagree. Trying to identify which mark they’re casting from a 1200 or even 900 range is ridiculous. Then there’s the issue of your opponent being an asura in which you can’t even tell if he’s casting a mark or not in the first place.

This game really needs some work on animations and untelegraphed instant bursts. It feels like a mess in comparison to many others.

Hello,

This trait increases the daze and stun on shortbow 5 and greatsword 5 from 1 to 2 seconds. The runes of the mesmer which give it 33% increased daze duration however do not then increase the daze duration upwards from 2 seconds which I’m sure is unintended.

Pretty sure they are true tbh. Buffing AI is the sort of thing Anet love, and not actually nerfing anything like spirit ranger/warrior/s/d thief.

The notes are legit. I am confident of it. Maybe not the most recent set of notes though I guess….

Tbh I’m thinking the exact same thing. These notes also seem oddly in line with the previous elite skill leaks. Either it’s the same guy just causing ANet grief or they really don’t want us to have the slightest clue what’s coming.

Attunements are counted as skills, which is the reason chill affects them, something which is quite frustrating for many elementalists.

So if these are attunement based skills why aren’t the -20% attunement skill cd traits affecting the cd of attunements?

I’m not suggesting this would be smart balancing but it’s clearly overlooked and gives little justification for the situation of attunements with chill atm.

I do believe there will be some regrets however if attunements no longer count as skill casts. You must realise we would lose a large portion of healing from signet of restoration.

Prediction: after ele buffs, this type of class is going to become insane. Right now, only good players can pull it off. As the class becomes easier to play, this will become a fotm in another 2 months. You heard it here first.

started today after 2PM (GMT) and even at this hour I’m still unable to play
sometimes I can’t even get any of my characters logged in, if I manage to kill something the game crashes back to character selection screen

yesterday, at about same hours, the game played smootly

Exactly this. Though I was experiencing the same lag issues last night but I’m not sure when it started then. This hasn’t been an unusual experience as of late.

Also, this is only occurring for Guild Wars 2 but nothing else I do using the internet.

With warrior 5 second weapon swaps, they can utilize 4 different on swap sigils as compared to what most classes can do with 2.
