I dislike Dry Top too, and I groan every time I am made to go there to do anything not just because I get lost, it could be hardware but I’m not so sure Silverwastes a new map runs just peachy, where as Dry Top when the sand storm comes I don’t even bother moving the FPS so poor, so yes I hate dry top.
The issue just in case any developer is reading this is either with your particle or shader engine, I would lean towards the particle engine more than the shader to be honest as in other parts of the game where obvious particle effects are being utilized are also cause small drops in FPS noticeable but not inhibiting like in Dry Top.
As a “New Player” and I do come from Guild Wars 1 when I met this content; (I’ve thought or typed the following commonly in LA)
- (people complaining about LA) … “What is wrong with it?” ; having utterly no idea what-so-ever that it had ever been destroyed at all, I simply thought this was just how things where after 250 years.
- “Who is Scarlet?” … (oh, you want me to read ‘ahem’ this is the 21st Century we’re in right?)
- I keep expecting an attack on Lions Arch, and it simply never happens unless you count the mad king.
This is what happens with you kick Aerial (ahem) Monks (erm) the healer class out of the game.
Is it even possible, given the changes that came about in the world?
In the mists all things are possible, a bit like when we played Gwen in GW1.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guild_Wars_Bonus_Mission_Pack
Sounds a lot like me for the most part, for the exception;
- I have mostly zerk on everything.. I don’t know why, it appears to do more dmg
- I hate rushing even when I know the place, do you know I’ve been through the game on 5 classes and I am still finding dialog I’ve never heard before, 88! days later!.
- I want to do all the dungeons story lines, I don’t want to rush through I might miss something.
I guess when it comes down to it, its new player vs goal player.
- another reason for me never doing so again is that I HATE Trahearne!!!
And I thought I was alone in my hatred of Trahearne; (I’m thinking)
- Who let this under powered constantly balanced to a level 1 in my story.
- This is my personal story, why is he taking over.
- He such a wimp I could probably beat him with a level 1 character.
- Oh just “shut up” Trahearne no one wants to hear your waffle!
- Why can’t I kick this guy out of my party, because he is just standing there doing nothing.
- Should I /report him for being such a waste of space?
And when I saw him again in Living Story, “Oh not you again, I was hoping you died”
What do you mean I don’t have a cape?
yes would like capes, but I think the art team once mentioned something about the charr and it not being compatible with the in game model for them.
However I’ve always felt that the backpack should be replaced by any usage of cape, don’t know why I feel this should be so.

Personally I think the RNG is old and outdated system to make up for a lack of content, such content cannot be driven by developers by themselves because its asking too much.
Therefore we should have content customization by the player base, by increasing this diversity you satisfy desire for uniqueness and drops can drop for everyone, no need for RNG, it seemed completely redundant and silly in GW1 and it still does today if you kill something holding a desirable skin you should be able to walk off with it when you kill it.
What did it break in the battle every-time we fought?
Did I suddenly develop amnesia and forget to pick it up?
I convert plastic to gold, not that I can afford it as I have to sacrifice food.
5- I hate the characters that are lvl 80 killing everything they find in low level maps
Guilty, the story goes; a whole bunch of lower levels where in an event trying to kill charr, they tried and tried, but by the time they got close charr was dead.
After all ways done, I said “I’m so sorry!” – (it was an event that just fit in nicely with a heart quest I was on, so had to be done).
I still can’t figure out why they said “No.. Thank you”
We need a version for Commodore c64 .. or Atari ST
Well at least your half loyal, but I need one for Amiga, Spectrum 128 and if you have the time Atari 2600.
— but seriously, what your advocating is the company or (a) company lie! we’ve enough lies in government thank you.
- I leap off the side of the cliff in the ‘Labyrinth’ to avoid the 1 silver cost for telephoning, while yelling to those that remain, “SAVE YOURSELVES!”
- I hate the dredge, and I think they got just what they deserved.
- I /wave at the enemy and then attack him.
- I dance in Divinity’s Reach only when my character has reached 80
- When you die I think its my fault.
- Stand guard while other strangers do RP, just in case some mob comes to disturb them.
- I “WILL” travel to you if your in range to revive you, I do not care if its a daily or not.
- If I repeat a vista/poi puzzle around you, because you appear to be having a hard time I didn’t miss it the first time, I’m trying to help you out. (but I won’t say anything)
- I HATE being invited without consent to your group, unless your my guild.
Many others…
Thanks for the update, I do hope more effort can be made in this area to close out the problem raised by others in this thread, that being converting 8 gems to coin it may seem petty such a small amount I know.
ED Ah I get it, if 8 gems then by 1 gem for coin then sell 9 then equal 0 gems remaining, excellent

The point I’m making is that, as a female, I don’t like my female characters which are adventurers and warriors being portrayed in a sexual manner. I don’t care if other people do want it, that’s fine. I’m speaking for myself and I think I should have a choice.
Tongue in cheek humor, you do know how the male mind works don’t you ?
This’ll be the 3rd time Gaile today I’ve said thank you, your on a role
Thank you so much Gaile, I knew there had to be reason thank you for being so open about the problem.
{hugs}
“Games are like paintings, was Leonardo da Vinci told that he wasn’t allowed to paint the Mona Lisa, no.” – me
It would be nice (not that I am expecting) but it would be enlightening for us users to get some sort of detail on how this actually accrued, without naming names of the individual dev that ‘presumably’ made this horrendous oversight.
On the flip side, ArenaNET can take pride in the fact that yes we do pay attention to all those small details you put in, or leave out and all of them have value.
If they are really greedy they will implement this fix after the halloween update, when the gemprices sink again.
Wow your lenient, I was thinking more January or February 2015!

Speaking of one of my first thoughts when I started playing looking at everyone else’s dye choices was, “are you color blind!?” I don’t mean that in a negative sense, I’m sure you enjoy your selections and that is all that matters right? right, but colors have a law and if you break them, well just be prepared to be look like a hideous eye sore to those that know.
Personally, I will admit that this is suspicious but this is the 21st Century and what possible harm or offence could anyone in any country take? I mean, it’s not exactly the ghost of Michael Jackson grabbing his nether regions now, is it?
Oh you’d be surprised (I’m sure you’ve heard the stories), if not well there are women of a certain nationality that are not allowed to show there face in public, and if they dressed like we do in game and stretched like that? well that would be a stoning and not just for the dress, and I’m not even kidding! I wish I was but its the truth, in this 21st century which we feel so ‘civilized’, there are still some sections of humanity for want of better terminology living like cave men.
Zuzu is currently at about 17g on the market, right? :P
Well yeah, but its always nice getting something you want from where it’s generated from instead of just throwing gold at the problem.
The main way to get the Cat is Candy Corn Cobs form the merchant, not the bags. Its a bonus form the bags. What people are talking about is the Mini Ghost Wolf that is the actual thing most people want from teh bags that they arent’ getting.
Update: at 30k bags opened, No Wolf =(
Oh Yes before I even knew it came from bags I was saving up my cobs and when I did find out? I still saved them anyway, why? well my luck in game mimics my real life complete and total zero!
I honestly have never seen the difference between the “old” and “new” running animations, but I admittedly don’t like playing human characters despite having two of them. The idle animations would be nice to have back.
Eyes on the two-handed weapons, please. ^.^
animation „new“: front
animation „new“: hammer
animation „new“: greatswordanimation „old“: front
animation „old“: hammer
animation „old“: greatswordwatched both several times…nope. Still don’t see it. But there’s apparently something there for so many people to be complaining. Just because I don’t see it, doesn’t mean it isn’t there. I even put the videos side by side and I don’t see a difference. not in the pacing of the feet, swinging of the arms, the way the weapon moves…I don’t see what you’re seeing.
Your not the only one that doesn’t see it I don’t either!
I do however miss the female animations those I do miss, sometimes I like just chilling somewhere and just watching players go by and its certainly feels like there is something missing.

5000 bags, no Zuzu :…(
maybe they are mean’t for banned / spammers… hmm didn’t think about that one did we
Small project I’m working on, I thought it a shame that none of our characters would ever see each other in game (other than the character selection screen), additionally they’ll never see their acesters either.
okay, I’ll say it since no one else is going too;
The reason the games are this way is because Arenanet very likely feel that these events are about fun and enjoying the festivities, []for some PvE players this is the one and ONLY times during the year they ever enter anything remotely PvP[/b], because it not about anything serious, if you rock in there with a fully kitted out PvP team the chances of you owning everyone in sight is quite high (while this might be fun for you and your team it isn’t fun for people that are just playing for the fun of it, which would mean we’re not rigged for PvP at all), the disadvantage is PvE player can’t do it either so win-win / lose-lose.

NZ myself, its just not as rewarding as doing other things that are more fun.
I’ve come to the conclusion I can’t, but I don’t care the only way to make me care would be to put 250×5 ToT bags in the chest at the top every time I completed it, and it was except from DR, then I’d try harder as it is massive effort for little reward.
Not just Rangers, Mesmer do this too, well anything with a knock back skill.
I for one am trying to use it with some sort of skill, eg. knock the thing into aoe when the kitten thing tries to walk out of it, other times it is to get stuff around me off or away from me to get to re-position, because I’m squishy back here its not like GW1 where the warrior would come back to defend his back line, so I’m out here all alone doing the best I can.
and yes, I’m sorry sometimes I mess up and knock back when I was meaning to press 5 or some other skill, I’m human.
Price Spike, your missing a some information I think.
In the rush to get the “new build” and play the festive content available staved for content (for long term players) they’ll jump on anything, however when a new build comes out you can go get the new build or wait around for an hour before being forced off and into the new build, goodness knows what people might have been doing from Personal Story to WvW, the list is long a large chunk of the population may have decided at that moment before logging to the new build to buy some gems, that’s a whole hour you’re missing not just 3 minutes between build adoptions.
Not to mention those buying gems on the old system would have been unaware that the new build changed how the gem shop worked, people on TS may have communicated to those in the old build what was going on and people on impulse and fear decided to buy now and wait out the storm as it where.

Gaile, thank you for your efforts in bring this too the developers.
When the change roles out we can mark this as one instance where by Arenanet did listen.
goodness, want to see a new post just press F5.
Just remember Gaile is a person.
so are we, but here we are and look at how they treated us. we are like a bunch of monkeys with no brain who have a lot of $$ to them. so what is your point?
Too illustrate; “Don’t blame the innocent hostage, shoot the criminal!”, it should not be too hard to go down the list of employees in the various departments, right now that person(s) are hiding behind someone whose creditably and integrity is being challenged through no fault of there own.
#GemGate2k14 #OccupyLA
lol but in all seriousness, now stop it, rollback or update, i dont think this is something that people are gonna put up with for a long period of time
If I recall Guild Wars 1, had an LA Occupation (protesting something I do not recall now) at one point in its history or so the rumor goes.

It is ridiculous that people give Anet a pass by blaming NCSoft, if your car broke down and Chevi would tell you, we would like to fix it, but GM wont let us. Would you give them a pass?.
NCsoft is Anet problem, not our.
If you are at McDonald’s, and you noticed that they no longer had a Value Menu, would you:
A. Be a dumb jerk who angrily yells at the cashier or
B. Contact the Store Manager/Owner/Corporate office?
C. Walk out and go else where?
C
That aside; has any one thought/researched what this might do to in game items that you buy with gold?
And since this is related to monetization, you can bet that the developers will then have to run the idea by NCSoft, who will laugh at them and tell them to get back to work.
I’ve been following Gaile’s posts for a long time now (GW1! whoo hoo!) and I can tell by the tone that this is not something ArenaNet has any say in.
Odd that I got the same impression, which is why I was asking about NCSoft and how much control they have in a previous post, firstly is there a precedence for NCSoft doing this type of thing with any other game they develop and produce? what are the current game shops like with those games are they similar in characteristics to the one just dropped into GW2?
Conditions don’t stack properly? Oh look a shiny! Hobosacks are still a thing? Is that a moving piece of paper over there? There isn’t a trinity anymore in PVE Oh wait! Somebody got Pizza! Where was I again?
Sounds like Skritt too me.

Was not confused by any of the interface options when I brought the game, but I sure as eggs am baffled at the radical changes that have been made since, I used to rely on the gem store to get upgrades and costumes and anything else I desired, also converting gems -> gold to help speed some in game things up crafting mainly.
After this even I will not touch it period, play yes because like EVERY poster in this thread loves the game.
I would like to ask a question; Why does Arenanet need NCSoft, what is it they do exactly?
They are a subsidiary of NCsoft and they act as publisher for Anet as well, if I’m not mistaken.
Where as a games like Aion or Lineage NCsoft is the developer and publisher.
Thanks for your reply, I am just wondering if it would better this outrage was focused at the right party that dreamed up this monstrosity, of course we’ll never really know where this idea came from, but I’m certainly not buying the ‘new player’ excuse, I would buy that NCSoft handed this down as a requirement, but just how much control do they have over Arenanet.
Personal opinion Arenanet don’t need NCSoft and should pack up their collective toys and do it themselves, they are quite a capable bunch.
I don’t know if it’s still true but at one point in time anet said that NCsoft does not influence what does or does not go into the game. They said that around the time the game was first out.
I don’t know if it was true when they said it and if it was I don’t know if that’s changed since then, though.
If true then we’re firing in the right direction, if not we need to re-aim.

I think. Someone who is on a server that never wins (like the last place server, I don’t know its name) is going to be confined to the same area of the map every week. That’ll make it much more difficult to get into objectives at the far side of the map, not only because they’re on a weaker team but they have to penetrate farther into enemy territory..
Actually thats not true. You overlook the fact that the servers at the bottom of the ranking are pretty empty of players outside of primetime, making it a lot easier to take over objectives in return, since there is noone there to defend them.
Personally I have fully mapped the WvW maps on two of my characters on Vabbi a while back during a time when the server was so far at the bottom of the ranking that there was less than a 5% chance to come up blue and no chance at all to come up green. I did most of the maps solo, hardly ever even seeing anybody else (since the few people that were in WvW mostly stuck to EB and ignored the borderlands). I remember the night the first of those two characters finally did get the missing points in the green borderland keeps in a random 3-man “zerg” with two strangers I had met on the map. It actually was fun, and very doable with a bit of patience.
Why should any player have to wait to finish their completion? Your argument holds no common sense. In fact, it sounds like you support the backwards thinking which led to many players getting frustrated to the point of quitting on their goal to attain a Legendary.
How about the skill points in all of those contested temples in Orr? Do you just solo them on any class without the help of a zerg doing the temple event? What about the POIs/skillpoints/vistas all over the maps that can be “contested” by champions/group events? Do you try a mad dash again and again until you finally make it to the point before dying, or do you wait until you overlevel/get other players to help? What’s the difference between these and the ones in WvW?
Did that today actually took me about an hour (maybe a little more) to cover them all, the areas you mention that could be “contested” or maybe better put dangerous to life and limb getting too aren’t that hard with a little bit of swiftness, dodge and being aware of your surroundings goes a long way, and even if it is contested normally the zerg is there or not very far away so 9 times out of 10 you’re in the zerg anyway, and a few of those people need the same things you do, making even easier and in some instants the challenge is dead before you even get a shot off, requiring you to restart the skill point, points of interest are a non-issue you just need to get near it for it too trigger you can even fall to your death on top of some and still get it in other areas of the game.
Another thing to point out is regardless of class, gender or race this is where everyone will end up, so the amount of people in the general area doing the same things you are is very likely, flip that to WvW and its a different game mechanic entirely where your success is not governed by your personal skill only, but by the skill of another human player or the lack of them.
And done! 9 level 80’s, 9 × 100% map completion = 18 Gifts of Exploration sitting in the vault.
Firstly congratulations!
Could you also tell us if you needed to server switch and which server you call home please.
Thank you.

This is one of the oldest GW2 gripes in existence, sorry you came about it just now. :/
The reason WvW is included for world completion is simple: WvW was never intended to be competitive.
ANet initially wanted it to be a casual, friendly PvE area with some mild PvP elements. Obviously that didn’t materialize, as WvW is highly competitive…zergfests notwithstanding. Why ANet never decided to actually remove the WvW requirement for world completion is beyond me. Then again, there’s a lot of things they did that I won’t understand.
Short answer: unintended consequences.
Well said. IMO World vs World was going to be the equivalent of AB in GW1 but that didn’t pan out.
Because to many players, maps too large forces zerg mentality I think.
I just am going to advocate patience, and working on the other parts while you wait for WvW to cycle around again. After all, why gnaw your fingers to the bone over waiting for WvW Completion when there’s so many other problems ahead.
Like Ye Olde RNG Toilet for precursors, the insane requirements for the Gifts . . .
Maybe why it doesn’t get much traction, so many other things to do in the game than be concerned about WvW at least that is what I’ve found, getting all classes to 80 and completing the world map is proving a lot of entertainment in of itself.
nb: any use of the words “world map” doesn’t include WvW – disclaimer.
