For some reason my sons account can access Lake Dorc, but all previous installments of the season before it and after it?

Is there actually some reason for this.

I brought my son Guild Wars 2 for his birthday with my credit card;

1. The email is attached to his email address.
2. The SMS number that was attached to his account is (SIM card) has gone missing or stolen.

How does he regain access to his account ?

I would have submitted a support ticket but I’m a little confused how that works these days.

Thanks..

Leather Farm

B) – Farm is designed to be group content on a LWS map. Its designed to be hard-impossible to solo, and we have already seen that most players don’t feel as if it is worth their time. Making it hard to find a group to do it already

Because ‘farming’ is something you do ‘solo’, my guess is ArenaNet wanted to make this more group based that’s fine but it’s not a mechanic I see working, case of looking through rose tinted glasses and assuming something will be engaged by the masses, when it won’t be because people want their own shineys piles and piles of shineys precious shineys.

Why do you all call is zerk ? When it starts with a B… Berserker’s I remember it being really confusing when I first started as to what on earth people where walking about as it didn’t match anything on wiki.

1. It was shorter for LFG postings.
2. Now it’s probably also to distinguish it from the Warrior Elite class when discussing things on the forum.

Ah thanks, always wondered where that came from.

“Should zerk gear be used by casual players?”

No. Go to Dragon’s Stand, the amount of people who get downed in one hit is too kitten high. Squishy people die and do nothing useful, they wait for revive and scale events up. People laugh at me for wearing Knight-Cavalier gear on my Necro but in the end, I deal more damage than dead people. Thanks to my unique invincible Necro build, I literally don’t even get downed in PvE. We would actually finish meta events faster if people stopped dying.

They get down because they don’t pay attention. One of the primary reasons being the snipers’ line attack thing that people just stand in. Defensive gear isn’t going to help that.

Yep, I’ll admit that’s the primary reason I get downed it’s because latency between me seeing what is going on and me not reacting to it fast enough or doing the wrong thing.

Macro Emotes???

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: aerial.7021

aerial.7021

Sorry to necro an old topic; but.

Thank you very much hate to be banned for a bit of fun with emotes

I know of one instance where a PvP player a couple of years back got banned for using a macro that spoke a phrase every time he killed a player. Small phrases such as “Die Noob” or “Owned” or whatever.

Auto-clickers for opening bags are also not allowed.

Clearly the ban wasn’t exclusively because of macro here that typed something, it was the content of what that ‘something’ said that I’d imagine that tipped the balance, more than the macro itself as it comes under player to player abuse.

having said; I’m still unclear of the legalities of this if it’s acceptable to make my numeric key pad into an emote launcher, I mean really in the grand world how often do you hear someone laugh, cry, etc. hardly ever and think it’d be great to have more of it the reason we don’t use it is because it requires a lot of typing.

More over; some ‘expensive’ keyboards come with programmable keys, so clearly something needs to be clearly stated in an unambiguous fashion, all this cloak and dagger yes but no and double talk I don’t find very cleaver at all and leads one to believe that there might be a conspiracy to keep it that way for what purpose I’m not sure.

Leather Farm

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

If prices were listed for even a copper more rather than a copper less, those that vested in the TP would make money. Prices would go up, yes. But they would reach a point where players would not pay for those mats and go farm for them, causing prices to drop and reach a point where prices were acceptable and people would go back to buying mats on the TP.

Nope actually I’d either (a) stop playing because my income wasn’t enough to afford stuff (ed: don’t get me wrong I don’t mind farming as long as it’s rewarding enough, when it’s not I won’t even bother with it at all), (b) pull out my credit card and just buy gold, this is where being able to buy gold is a bad bad idea it means prices can skyrocket to the moon and as long as someone is inserting their credit card, ArenaNet is in no wise shape or form inspired to fix the problem, because the bottom line is not how much gold you have but how my cash ArenaNet can make off of you, by whatever nefarious insidious slight of hand means they see fit too, it’s our jobs as the consumer to say no we’re not paying for this and walk, but ArenaNet has every right to make cash we wouldn’t have a game otherwise.

I much prefer how it was done in GW1 merchants sold the mats you need at a ‘fixed’ price.

They didn’t even bother to change the voice acting for the training area on the south west side. It’s just a replication of Claypool in Queensdale.

Not to mention context wise it has no business being on the front lines of a battle field, every time I pass it I’m thinking, “what are you noobs doing out here!”.

The final boss for this episode is the best I’ve played of this game’s soloable instanced content. If a vanilla necro with squishy gear only gets downed twice then it can’t be all that hard.

If it gets nerfed I will be sad.

The map is nice too.

Potato pancakes.

Well I hope it will get changed and from the abundance of posts here it’s likely it will and it should, but congrats on getting through it without feeling an incessant desire to punch a vacuous space in your monitor.

Story was good and all, but I didn’t like how my character was bootlicking the queen. I mean, I agree with the White Mantle and the separatists (in real life I mean). At the same time, I do understand that storywise you can’t really make the player chose sides, but I don’t like playing a diehard loyalist. Maybe I would have liked being more neutral? I don’t know really.

Haha I agree with this. Down with the queen! Seriously I would love to see war break out between the humans and charr. I miss the racial tensions that used to exist back in GW1. It makes cooperating with allies more important when there’s a societal stigma against each other.

Oh that tension still exists, I hate the Charr and I hate even more being forced to being one (one certain fractal does this), I have 1 charr on my account I’ve just not figured out a really demeaning way to use it yet pack mule is just too much of a reward.

Again, not every class has god condi clear.

Not all of us want to tinker tamper with the way we’ve built our characters either, the problem with CC and all the rest of the man fangled stuff is it was just thrown at us, some of us braced it others rejected dealing with it, mainly because it’s never been (in game) properly explained. The personal story encounters should be scaled to your class not some generic one size fits all.

I also feel like it’s tuned for more than 1 person, I’ve not formulated my entire thoughts on the details of what I think yet but I do have a title, ‘Emotionally Charged Situations’ should never result in a battle that’s unwinnable or even sets the player to be killed, downed sure but killed no, it ruins the flow of battle and taints the player to be less than heroic, I had to pug the last mission I knew what I was supposed to do and how to do it but as a light feathered paper weight I was utterly ruined to the point of nakedness it then just became a case of respawn dmg, respawn dmg, respawn dmg, win, that room is far to small I was simply (alone) turned into a ping pong ball.

puging anything but personal stories is fine, but when you have to for part of what is supposed to be a personal thing it ruins the experience.

nb: this isn’t the first time I’ve encountered the situation where it’s a war of attrition of how long you can put up with respawning and being naked.

How about everytime someone vendors the loot they get instead of selling it on the trading post? That harms every other player’s economic power ever so slightly also yet you haven’t recommended removing vendor value from loot.

I vendor all my sigils. I’M GOING TO RUIN YOU ALL MUHAHAHAHAHA.

LOL! I guess I’m helping you then, it’s too cumber sum to dump them on the TP and even if you could batch drop them all the return is meaningless, those things are worthless it’s not like they are superior vigors or anything, oddly if you compare them from a GW1 perspective would be highly more valuable if you could equip them, I guess someone in the last 250 years worked out how to mass produce them on scales not see since God invented dirt.

I disagree, it’s not a gold sink it’s a “time sink” given enough time even with 0.01% of effort it may take you 100 years to get what you’re after but you will obtain it, example I see people popping out legendary weapons out like it’s water, but I waited I simply waited for ArenaNet to change the system not so I could get something faster but so that there was more content or depth rather to obtain that item, it took 3 years to obtain my first legendary and I’m more satisfied with the effort of obtaining it because the journey to get it was legendary, so the only thing this artificial ‘virtual’ fake market actually does is to satisfy a requirement for time sink because of a ‘lack of content’, if everything was just handed to you say within a week the game would be devoid of players because they’d get everything done and be gone in a week.

‘lack of content’ I mean in the sense of if they showered you with 1000’s of gold per hour if not by the minute, not that there is a lack of content because there is a time sink in the way.

Like I’d LOVE to take the wing off the heavy bottoms I have, I think it’d only improve the whole look, frankly. As it is I feel like they have this absolutely gorgeous armor sullied with a slapped on butterfly theme.

Anyone feel the same?

You mean the (Shoulder) butterfly? no, my eles look would be ruined with out it, took me forever to find (a) decent look, I don’t know what happened between GW1 and GW2, in GW1 I could pretty much be happy with 95% of all of them GW2 is the opposite maybe I just got super-critical and picky as I aged.

Invisible walls…

This I can totally agree with. If I can jump to or fly to some place, then I should be able to. If you want players not to go there, instead put large rocks or some sort of terrain. Not just a solid invisible wall.

They do tend to try, problem with that of course is most of the time it obscures you field of view and you’re left play gymnastics with the mouse to see where you’re going.

The odd thing is, for all the hate for underwater combat, they appear to in ‘some’ cases not all made the same mistake or worse with gliding, though I don’t see a problem with underwater combat.

Blame gliding being added later: it’s less expensive to wall things like that, than to fix all the terrain to actually support “physical” restrictions as implied by gliding.

At least they didn’t do a WoW and just turn off gliding in older zones entirely…

They should have made it with zones portals.

The problem is;
Everyone wants max stats on everything even if it’s only +1 attribute, to get said attributes those stats are locked by behind time gates, material charges & gold and other miscellaneous items, which results by the time you’ve done all that after spending months getting there, your stats are what they are you cannot change them on the fly (armor stats etc), so if you want to ‘experiment’ you cannot do it easily and the only item(s) that do have changeable stats is a legendary and how affordable is that or even realistic for some players, it took me 3 years to get bifrost.

What I’d suggest need change if you want more build diversity is selectable stats on everything from rare armor up, or some sort of override functionality so you can make what you want, of course they aren’t going to do that because storage equals money you know for multitude of armors you’d need if you wanted to fool around with it, you’re gonna have to store them some place, unless of course you like making armor bits every time.

You can do the WvW reward track without fighting a single player, just by capping Sentries, Flipping Supply Camps, Killing Dolyaks, Running Dolyaks into bases, repair Walls, claiming Shrines, on top of the Daily WvW reward potions. It takes about 10-20mins to max participation this way.

And if you have boosters and keep your participation up at 195 you will have it done in 4.3 hours without fighting a single player.

The intent of Legendaries is to play along a Gamemodes, just be happy they removed WvW map completion from the Gift of Exploration.

Yeah that’s how I got 8 of those gift of exploration, sometimes I get them just for the fun of it.

I love how you describe WvW though, it’s as if you’ve completely deleted the very concept that an enemy even exists on the map anywhere, while you’re busy running about doing all that do you really think the other teams are going to be all ‘ok’ with that, of course not they are going to send someone to take care of you and your efforts, my guild last night was doing missions for some reason or another I couldn’t tag along but I found them and ran spy missions.

Seeing how I know from first hand experience if you want to avoid the enemy it’s easy. You are just making excuses to complain about it, I am in T1 the most highly populated matchups and when all I want to do is scout/flip camps/run yaks and not run into players it’s easy. Especially if you do it on the Dessert BL no one goes there unless you assault one of the Keeps leaving everything else for easy taking.

At least you have the easier end of the stick and only need to spend 4-8hrs in WvW for one gift vs the 20+ needed for PvE that WvW/PvP players have to slog through to make one.

I wouldn’t call it excuses just personal preferences, but yeah it could be worse for instants having to map WvW I did a little dance in my room the day they removed that from WvW, as for PvP players well you can just slog it out because I don’t care about you insane lot if it’s fare, you know if either group doesn’t care about the other.

Honestly someone who can’t competently complete a reward track isn’t very legendary deserving.

It’s going a little OT, but okay.. I’m fine with things like snowball fights etc. because the playing field is balanced totally you cannot bring anything new and custom so I lose or win based on my efforts, conversely PvP where you can bring whatever you like I hate because it’s basically a toss up who wins, of course they say the balance patch etc. skills but really it couldn’t be further from the truth if they tried from my point of view, it’s all a random numbers game from internet connection to skill button press & and which ones you brought, so snowball fights are fun at least there is some modicum of ‘actual’ skill, not that I’m any good at that either but still I’m happier with that.

Actually that could be a whole new game type (if it doesn’t already exist) you get a build that day/week that’s all you can use in PvP for that class next week changes, no need to upgrade anything everything is preset, just click play.

For Gift of Battle you can also get through it very slowly by just doing the dailies.

Land claimer, veteran creature slayer, master of monuments, mist guard killer and of course big spender. That will probably take around a year.

Each potion gives 250 points of reward track progress. The whole track requires 20000 points. So, you need at most 80 potions. There’s always at least one easy daily, sometimes more.

No, you wouldn’t need a year. Not even close.

The Legendary Journey (sanity check)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: aerial.7021

aerial.7021

So I spent a lot of time running about doing the legendary journey which was kind of fun for the most part, it’s not covered anywhere I searched so thought I’d just ask here.

The Legend – obviously isn’t bifrost to my shock and horror when building it, it’s only ‘part’ The Biforst, so am I correct in assuming that the only way to obtain said bifrost is to obtain ‘Gifts’ ?

Normally I wouldn’t care it’d just be another collection of stuff, except one of those gifts involves PvP which I point blank refuse to engage in, unless it’s snow ball fight then fine so am I better off just saving gold and buying off the TP?

If that’s the case I’m a little sad at the effort and gold I put into get the legend as I need not have bothered.

I craft legendaries regularly, so I’ll break it down for you.

Crafting precursor The Legend will cost you approximately 794 gold at the moment. After you have that, you’ll need another 1k (again approximately) to turn it into Bifrost. That’s assuming you don’t have the required mats already. If you don’t think you can handle such costs, then don’t even start.

Wiki lists everything you need, so follow it.

You don’t have to pvp, but you will need to spend 8-10 hours in WvW for the gift of battle, you get if from the reward track. WvW is quite easy, just follow the commander and tag someone once in a while, that’s it.

You will also need Gift of Exploration, so you’ll need to finish all vanilla core version maps. That’s quite lengthy and boring, but doable and not hard.

You will also need artificer 400 and chef 400 for this legendary. If you don’t have those trained yet, you will also need additional gold to get to 400.

Getting mystic clovers is a gamble. There are 2 recipes: for 1 mystic clover or 10 at a time. But it is always a 1/3 chance (in my own experience even lower), you can also drop other materials from throwing these 4 ingredients into mf. So better stock up on ecto, mystic coins and obsidian shards.

You will also need to do Arah dungeon a few times to get 500 tokens to buy Gift of Zhaitan that you use in Gift of Color.

For the rest, follow wiki lists for materials you’ll need.

Making a legendary is not supposed to be easy and it’s supposed to cost people time and gold, so think whether it’s worth it or not for you GL

Gift of Exploration got 8 of those and room 4 more with either 3 existing map uncomplete characters or make a new, but I think I am set with that

Cost doesn’t bother me, I tend to chip away at things over time little bit here little bit there it’s taken me 2.3 years to make my first “The Legend” and that was only due to the new system they put in which made it kind of fun to go after such a thing.

WvW as I expected a few seconds ago when I jumped into it, instantly killed by some roaming player. For some reason my server (shard, thing) is always on the losing side, guess I can live with it by just harassing stuff, so should you trip over Aerial in the wild don’t expect her to fight back too much, she’ll just take the beating and go off to some other area to get points, sorry but I find it hilariously funny watching you button mash away furiously like you life depends on it expecting a reaction and none given. lmao. might be just time zone I guess but I don’t see any commander’s doing anything on my side either so yeah.

Crafting I’ve maxed pretty much all of them out already apart from huntsman but thanks for the reminder on that.

Thanks for your advice, I’ll chip away at it likely over time. see you in 4.6 years lol

Oh well good thing I didn’t spend coin on those then, so in other words must pvp to get ‘The Gift of Battle’ to get bifrost ? or am I misunderstanding something.

You must WvW not PvP. There’s a difference because WvW is more determined by the quality of the zerg you join, not your individual PvP skill. Just have a ranged weapon handy, because if you’re not used to it, zerg v zerg melee is suicidal.

lol, well I might give it a go I don’t quite have enough clovers 42 of 77 required according to gw2efficiency.com (nice site by the way) lovely little tree view.

I presume once you have 4 of the items you flush them down the mystic toilet and get the expected parts from the ingredients list, or do you discover them in crafting ?

I see, you all are going to disagree but I personally classify WvW as equal to PvP because you can PK another player thus it’s PvP. :/

Shards of Glory can be purchased off of the Trading Post. So can the Memories of Battle which requires WvW to generate them. No need to PvP.

Ahh, well that good news.. is there some sort of website that has a little of required materials? the guild wars 2 wiki isn’t very useful, as it doesn’t at least from my reviewing mention Shards of Glory or Memories of Battle, in Bifrosts’ construction.

Oh… from your post, I had assumed you had already finished The Legend and were about to craft Bifrost. If you’re just about to craft The Experimental Staff… be aware that that step is the easiest and cheapest one. It gets exponentially harder and more expensive from there.

..

kind of; https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/The_Legend I have that bit only currently, obtained by the journey method.

Wiki gives a list of every material. It breaks each gift down into a handy reference chart for ease of comparison.

You do not require Memories of Battle or Shards of GLory since they are for the newer legendaries and Bifrost is a Legendary that existed before those materials were ever in the game.
(You may need them in the Precursor Collection crafting for the Legend, but if you have that, you wont need the above mentioned currencies.)

The Gift of Battle is the only non-pve item you require for Bifrost.

I don’t understand people who don’t look up all the requirements for building a legendary before hand

I did, my brain tends to go to goo when presents to with laundry lists longer than country mile, hence why I choose to the legendary journey because it was broken up into manageable volumes that I could tick off.

That said after some deep web searching it would appear I’m not the only one with this problem, all be it Guild Wars 2 not 1 but I guess it still apples.
