Monitor the speech time, 20 minutes for each player and 20 minutes for Anet (the 2 devs). Notify people by private messages when their speech time is running out rather than aloud as it breaks the pace of discussion though.

This is especially true for J Sharp. If you’re reading this, please keep it concise.

And how about discussing the current state of thief stealth. Giving thieves the ability to hop in and out of stealth repeatedly, without penalty, cure conditions, self-heal, etc is simply not fun for anyone other than a thief.

Imagine giving warriors the ability to become immune to everything but AoE damage at will, as often as they like. While immune, they can heal and remove conditions from themselves. How broken is that!

You may point to the meta and show that thieves aren’t as broken as elementalists, but surely you cannot deny that they are completely broken in other parts of the game (WvW, hotjoin, etc.).

If you think thief stealth is fine, then please tell me what other profession can do this:

Even Warcraft knew how to balance stealth:
– any damage brought rogues out of stealth
– vanish was on a long cooldown
– runspeed was reduced while stealthed
– rogues had access to a very small number of abilities while stealthed
– rogues could not cure conditions in stealth or by going into stealth
– rogues could not heal in stealth or by going into stealth

posts like yours have been answered so many times, but i will bother answering again:
1st: WvW (not spvp), wich implies:
-Culling.
-Armor differences.
-Non 80 people.
-Unaware enemies.
2nd: Skill of other players he is facing:
-Notice how he isnt stunned a single time.
-Notice how no one bothers to ress downed players.
3rd: Perma stealth:
-first, there is no perma stealth. The thief in the video has 3 means of stealthing: Heal (wich is the only that is really reliable), AoE stealth (a field where the thief has to stand in = free hits on thief), Cloak and dagger (dodge it = gg for thief).
-i can see how this is a problem in wvw, with culling it takes a second longer for thieves to appear, but this sotg is about spvp, where that doesnt appliy and thieves cant restealth over and over without beeing seen.

Please keep thief QQ out of sotg.

PS: i see you mention wow, vanish is a long cd (there was a spell to refresh its cd though) spell because that is perma stealth, when a thief stealthed you would completely loose track of him, it was even easier fleeing from though fights in wow and resetting than in gw (thats why runspeed is reduced in wow). Rogue had access to even more powerfull spells while stealthed, i dont even understand what you mean.

yep, another " this is it, make or break" thread.
please stop doing this, this game doesnt have any subscription so there wont be any make or break moments, i bet that even if march updates sucks, and you quited the game, you would come running right back to it if the update next to ths one is great and implements everything you want it too, so please stop posting these threads.

Not that interesting and i don’t agree with this guy on most of his points.

-This game doesnt REALLY need arenas, i mean, fights with objectives are fine and add something to the game, but of course, arenas will be welcome when they come, and also, what’s the problem of fights beeing too fast? He’s probably just used to wow (where 20 min match are the bread of the day) where theres a 5min cd stun and after wasting it they have to wait another 5 mins to try to burst and end game. —-> Just because fights are fast it doesnt mean they wouldnt be about skill and coordination.
Bottom line is, this is the not the problem of this game. We dont need/want healers!

-Lack of duels, ok we could have dueling but its not a key feature. And yes, there would be no balancing, but there isnt balance in wow (the game op wants gw2 to be) neither.

-5 maps of the same mode, yes thats a problem. With the time they spent designing 2 maps they could have introduced a new mode.

-Regarding class balance, i’m sorry to disappoint you but there will never really be a class balance. They can tweek it and revamp somethings, but there will always be some classes that will feel unbalanced. Balancing is a thing thats is never finished, there will never be a point where we can say “there, everything is at the same level”. And OP is really exagerating, there isnt a “HUGE” unbalance.

-Scoreboard isnt an issue either, maybe scoring distribution is, the scoreboard not having damage/heal etc etc is fine (it just seems again like OP wants this to be wow with better graphics)

-Make hotjoins 5v5 —-> problem solved.

-Heartseeker needs some tweeks, yes, but all professions have abilities that may seem op at first glance (well maybe not warriors).

Overall bad post, not many new/good ideas and after reading this it just seems like op doesnt really know the game and its real problems:
-Too much “this isnt WoW” QQ and too much thief and mesmer rant.
-Not a mention on the only real OP profession(eles) and the most UP profession (warrior).
-Not a mention to lack of build diversity.
PS: like skyro, if im gonna quit this game, its not because any of the reasons op said.

4.) PvE/Gem/Gold rewards for winning tournaments

6.) A daily 8/16/32-team tournament with substantial rewards

—> Re-introduce QPs and reward 1 for each round won in the daily tournament.

7.) A WEEKLY 8/16/32-team tournament which requires 3 QP to enter. The prizes should be even more substantial.]

8.) A MONTHLY 8-team tournament which would include the winners and runner-ups of the 4 weekly tournaments.

please, just this, there wouldnt even need to be a ladder to keep this competitive.
-just a daily tournament with top 8/16 teams of the day with a global broadcast of winner;
-followed by a 8/18 top teams of EU or NA weekly tournament, again with global broadcast for recognition;****
-followed by a monthly tournament between top teams of NA/EU with a proper reward.

This would, maybe, put people watching streams of players from their servers and from their region, cheering and rooting for them, and give teams someone to compete with for an important goal, maybe create rivalries between teams etc —--> e sport.

just my humble opinion.

Im okay with these changes IF in the next patch they introduce the key features for e-sports and pplayers who want to play this game full time:
-Ladder
-Custom arenas(first mentioned in november! lol)
-monthly tournaments with the top teams or something in the style of league of legend’s LCS, so pros can have something to keep particing to.

What features are you expecting on the 26th?

Well they have this in the flame and frost blog:
“Two Team Rated Play in PvP

It’s time to prove your skill! In this new type of competitive PvP, two teams of equal average rating are pitted against each other in a quick, intense match. The ratings for every member of each team is then adjusted after the match."
and since theres already two team matchmaking maybe it means they’re (freacking finally!) adding a ladder? Besides that, the map, and probably nothing more really…

its pretty low, but its actually doing fine in the other “modes”. So all they need to do is give people a reason to spvp, and more people will try it out. There are plenty of people (especially in wvw) just waiting for improvementes in spvp and a reason to play it to actually start playing it regularly.

I really don’t think the problem is in 5vs5, of course 4vs4 and 3vs3 will be more than welcome in the near future (as im sure those modes will come), but 5v5 is fine aswell. And about aoe, they already said theres a nerf inc.

Are you serious? Jesus people just pick on everything to complain about, what’s wrong with the dodging part? it think its a great addition to get people to start properly learning how to use it. People cheap it by just letting mobs attack? Well worst to them, its their problem, it takes like 10 minutes of normal play to get it done. Crafting part? thats unnecessary yes, but it takes like 10 seconds… The worst really is the underwater daily, rest is fine and a great addition.

there is a pretty big difference between solo queing (and ending up with an unbalanced setup, like 3 thieves 2 mesmers), and spending 5 minutes in Anvil Rock/Desolation HotM forming a balanced group (guess what, they added guesting feature!)

you don’t have the time to find a group? solo queue for frees or play hotjoin, they will be “competitive” enough.

no they wont, no matchmaking, no rating to know if you’re actually improving or not, no motivation to play for casual players who play at 2/3 hours at weekends.
unbalanced setup? its not like you can change professions after you see your comp, guess what you can!

also, you say you want to be in the “competitive scene”, and you want to do that by solo queing and playing with random people without voice comms or any strategy of whatever…it makes no sense.

This just sounds like someone whining “I want to farm copper chests for the l33t skinZ but I’m too lazy to find a group”.

you know, the only difference between what you said and a solo queue feature is that with a solo queue, arranging a team is much faster. do you think people saying and getting a group spamming “randomclass rank whatever lfg paids” will use voice comms? they will use as much strategy as they would in a solo queue, they will chat before the match about it.
its so funy, you suggest we look for random people in /map and then criticise those of us who want a solo queue for wanting to play with random people (who wouldnt be random cuz matchmaking).

Edit: i don’t have the time to look for 4 people to play with me on a regular basis, so i will end up playing with random people anyway, wich is pretty much the same as a solo queue with matchmaking system would do. and to people complaining that they wanna have difficult matches and not just stomp the other team: MATCHMAKING, you stomp, you improve your rating and never have to face that team you stomped ever again, problema solved, please tell me more problems of a solo queue if you can find any

Attrition Thieves With Infinite Invis: When?

just wondering how this will be addressed. well played attrition thieves are impossible to take down 1v1 (unless stunlocked by a hammer warrior) because they can just leave. secondly, their health is always at 100% as they heal up and clear conditions whenever they want.

builds like these are making GW2 pvp not fun. they require absolutely no skill to play, and tremendous skill to counter.

also wondering how thief stealth in general will work in the upcoming pvp patch. i assume there’s something big in the works because certain aspects of the thief are pretty silly, and it’s been left as is for 6 months, which is kinda crazy.

thief stealth is fine, they dont heal whenever they want AND this build is extremely easy to counter, just time your dodges with the thieve’s cloak and dagger and its an easy fight. use your slows and try to be behind him so he misses CaD.
yes this build(i assume you’re talking about pistol/dagger build?) is very strong 1 vs 1, even 1vs2 in spvp and 1 vs many in wvw due to culling, but its a really useless build for your team, even more in wvw where 1vs1 matters so little.
in spvp, if you dont think you can kill this kind of thief you can just ignore him (and wait for teammates) cuz they do low damage, unless they pop thieves guild.
