We’re gonna be 5 months (4 so far) without a balance patch, they’re not even trying to balance it. You can’t call something hard if you don’t even do it.
while it doesn’t make much sense its not that big a deal to make such a QQ thread. and focus isnt the only mobility weapon, you got staff too. so the chaos armor swiftness actually makes up for that nerf

why are you hyping something that will not fix ANY of the real game breaking issues of guild wars 2 so much? People will not forget about your broken mmr, skyhammer, broken leaderboards, broken balance and faceroll mechanics. It doesn’t matter if I have a better way to get rewards if the game still sucks and isn’t fun.

end of season rewards should be better for team queue due to the organization that a team requires but end of match rewards should be the same to prevent people solo queuing team queue. but since we don’t have a working leaderboard, a working matchmaking, no sense of progression, no real rewards other that the same cosmetics we’ve had for the last year and half (all in all, no features to make a competitive season) we will have to put up with this crap for a long time. not “we”, but whoever still plays this… kitten

I don’t understand why you guys haven’t been able to listen to previous posts by the developers. You claim they don’t listen to you but why can’t you listen to them? They posted that they will focus on other aspects of GW2 after the Living Story arc is completed. That means PvP will be changing. I mean honestly they have taken out Glory and specifically stated that they will be implementing a new reward system for PvP. They are blatantly telling you what will happen and you guys can’t be patient for one month or so? It’s not like you are paying a subscription after all.
I for one am looking forward to the focus on PvP that the developers will be bringing. I understand that they are working hard to bring new content to all of their fan base because ArenaNet is NOT some sort of big corporate monster that can do everything that we could ever want if we could only complain enough (though I admit it has worked in the past). They are human beings with limits, not machines.
lol they have been saying they’ll focus on pvp since January/february last year. I still remember how those were going to be the months where pvp would get great stuff and guess what, 1. We had to wait until march, 2. and all we got was a broken mmr, broken leaderboards and useless custom arenas to support a non existent e sport scene.
Anyway, there’s no point in waiting friend. Just quit, you’re never going to get anything that you are expecting. And even if they work on stuff, they will never deliver a nice and working finished product. Everything they release is kitten: CAs, solo queue, leaderboards, maps, rewards…

Because who cares? You could get glory booster just about everywhere, why would you get a reward for something so trivial
People dont pvp because the game sucks, not because of this. The mmr algorithm uses only the account name, not the class that the account queued with. If it did use the class, everyone would have like 10 minute queues. This is probably the only good thing about the mmr algorithm in gw2, how it only matches the account, leaving it to the players to relog to any class they want to create a more balanced comp.
There are already plenty spvp tournaments and they are all a failure

Making spvp free to play just to get more players in will only make things worse.
Meta will still be bad, cheese tanky builds will still be prevalent, matchmaking and leaderboard will still be a joke, game mode will still be crap, it would brand gw2 as “another fail f2p mmo” (right now people that don’t play gw2 will still read the press reviews that rate gw2 super high) and anet doesn’t want that, free to create accounts = more people careless about their accounts = more trolls = more 5v4s etc because of afkers and said trolls = even less enjoyable game.
The only way to get people to play this is if anet actually makes the game good (will never happen btw).
Thief because I prefer a high-risk/high-reward playstyle and an S/D build because access to evasion > access to stealth

if YOU get ranked with low ranks (and yours was the only higher rank) it is only your fault.
It means that you are a bad player, that you farmed rank points on skyhammer and that you deserve to be ranked with deers and rabbits.
The system is rating based, not rank based.

Well, I have played d/p thief/engi/mesmer and pre-nerf d/d ele a lot, and of these the ones that felt less faceroll, and that would leave themselves the most vulnerable if spamming, is the mesmer and d/p thief. Now thief can get away with more spamming (hurr shortbow #3 for days) than before, but engi is still the king of spamming while a mesmer that doesn’t manage his stuff in this meta is a dead mesmer (talking shatter mesmer).
I think the meta is favoring spam builds because a build that can spam implies a tanky spec that can survive even with a lot of skills on cooldown, like warrior or spirit ranger.
Best 1v1 is warrior, and both warrior and bunk guardian are the classes defining the meta (guardian has always defined the meta anyway). Warrior is definitely spammy, while guardian still needs some timing with it’s key utilities.
I don’t believe there is any “huge skill required” builds out there. There are some that require some muscle memory like ele or engie, but after a few days and games you’re good to go. There are obviously builds that are completely the other way around: stupidly easy to pick up and play.

Spot on, hopefully people that say that the deceptive evasion change doesn’t hurt shatter mesmer will understand that it really does.
Shatter mesmer was already struggling in this meta and it will be completely shut out after the 21st. It’s THAT big of a hit in all that we can do. Less clones (and we are looking at a LOT less clones) means less shatters, less damage soaking, less boon removal (one of the only things we were still useful for), uselessly positioned clones everywhere (that ultimately lead to wasted shatters to get clones where we need them) , all that we do is going to be nerfed, while our apex predator will still be spamming shortbow 3 and call it a day and warriors healing for 400 hps (oh sorry, 370, can’t forget that 8% nerf!!!!). Good job arenanet, enjoy your thief/ranger/warrior/guardian meta. This game sucks, and the only reason for me to keep playing for this long is gonna suck. These nerfs, in this meta, will kill shatter mesmer until you guys nerf everything else, god knows how long that will take. But good job, mesmer is at ele level, 6 classes to go!
PS: the stupid nerf doesn’t even requires us to play better, you are actually dumbing down deceptive evasion, while making it worse! Unbelievable.

Mesmers will be completely out of the meta after the 21st.
With the new bugged confounding suggestions mesmers were making a comeback. You can argue that the trait was too strong, but it was still a 30 point investment that made players drop iPersona, and in the end it doesn’t feel that op when compared to other certain things in the game, and if it brings build diversity, I would have seen no problem in updating the trait to include the buff to chaos storm. But whatever, the trait is bugged and i can accept it, no problem.
But then, in one patch, you do a massive hit on shatter mesmer. You shave half of the dodging on a class that even with perma vigor uses less dodges for defense than other classes without it, and also do a pretty big hit on deceptive evasion to help the noobs not destroy their clones. I don’t give a crap about clone on death, the build isn’t even that strong and instead of fixing the problems with it, you guys are just taking the lazy way and straight up removing it. Why does shatter mesmer has to take such a big hit in both offense and defense? I mean, you take a super soft approach on the most broken meta class, the class that is defining the meta (8% healing cut? Really?), and then you take a dump on a class that was making a comeback and will be shelved again. These changes would have been good before all the ramp up in damage that you guys caused. If you had done this 1 year ago, before buffing necros, s/d thieves, warriors and whatnot, these would have been great, but now? Damage for everything else is going UP while mesmer’s is going down.
And to anyone saying deceptive evasion doesn’t hit shatter mesmer, it really does. If you have 3 clones out there, and you tele to a ledge and some s/d thief ports after you, good luck getting more clones out near you to peel him off. Anyway, enjoy that thief/ranger/warrior/guardian meta, anet enjoys it too.
EDIT: Suggestion, reduce critical infusion by 8% k?

The ONLY way i see these unlocks helping new players would be if they implement a separate queue to players from rank 1-20 and they played between eachother, and along the path to getting rank 20, they would slowly unlock ALL the runes for FREE. It’s the only implementation that makes sense if they really want this to help new players. Anyway, I’ve never even seen any new player complaining that their brains can’t process the amount of runes lol

Why do you keep shooting yourself in the foot arenanet?
-Immobilize stacking, no one asked for it, the flaws are obvious and you still went for it.
-Skill/accessories unlocking. It’s probably the one thing that is unanimously GREAT about gw2, and you are slowly removing it. Why? My brain can’t even process it! No need to unlock anything is a GOOD thing that everyone loves about this game, why are you doing this? I always find those “devs are purposely destroying the game” conspiracy theories really silly, but this is… a weird decision to say the least.
-Sigil no longer sharing cooldowns. Again, why? All I’ve ever seen was people asking for two sigil slots for two hand weapons, the shared cooldowns are fine! They have always been fine! It does nothing for the game.
It really worries me to see Roy say “we feel crit damage is fine in spvp”. It takes my hope away to know that you guys think that damage in this game is fine.
And not the mention the completely meta shifting decisions you made for some classes (Mesmer) while the most broken meta build, the build that is defining the meta, get’s an 8% heal shave off of its heal…
So, NO to immob stacking, no to new sigil mechanics, no to skills unlocks, NO to power creep.
Healsig change is a start at least, looking forward to what they do to the active.
Really really really like what they did with dhumfire, I just have no idea why incendiary powder isn’t changed.
I didn’t really understand what they’re gonna do with sigils. So now we can stack air + fire but not use energy on one weapon and then on another weapon? Like gs/staff mesmers with 2 energy sigils? That coupled with the vigor nerf is terrible. This type of trait was actually not op on mesmers because mesmers use dodges for both offensive and defensive, the amount of dodges we spare for actually evading attacks is probably smaller than what other classes do, even before they were nerfed. The deception evasion change is also really really bad. All this put together, shatter mesmer is taking a huge kittening nerf in my opinion. Will have to wait and see. Curious to see what master helseth’s opinion is. Add the thief damage buff with air + fire sigil, mesmer is now a piñata. I mean, they take a super soft approach on warrior healsig, and then take a dump on shatter mesmer. I really hope I’m wrong and overreacting though. I can also see a chance of actually creating some skillful play on better managing clones and keeping them at count 2 a save a third for a more reactionary play?
So can someone confirm me this? We won’t be able to use double energy sigils (one on each weapon) but we will be able proc both sigil of air and fire?
Also, there’s no nerf to dps, that ferocity stuff will only happen on pve, from what I understood.

I bought this game about 4 days ago. Have to say pvp in this game favors stealthers and ranged classes only. The amount of dodges, escapes, stealth and healing for ranged classes in this game is insane compared to other mmorpgs.
I try to learn how to pvp as a melee warrior. I cannot close the distance and i rarely land a hit. I have no freaking idea which buffs, abilities my foes are using because they are all instant abilities and there aren’t enough visual indicators to know which ones they turned on. So far only abilities i know how to dodge are aoe abilities. Other than that i have no idea what the hell is going on. Unless there is a detailed guide to teach new players how to pvp in this game, i am done with this game.
So, you bought the game 4 days ago and you think you already fully understand what is broken or not? You are struggling as a new player and you want to quit already? What were you expecting, to come to the game and be beating people that have been playing 1 and half year? After playing for 4 days? Dumbest thread I’ve seen in awhile. Oh and guess what, warrior is the STRONGEST pvp class at the moment and the class with the most healing (non bunker). That alone should tell how much you really know about the game. The game has some flaws and is in a pretty bad shape, but saying you’re quitting after playing for 4 days because you are struggling to beat ranged players is ridiculous lol

That’s a matter of perspective. I think that sky ham should be in solo queue. IMO, you have to pay more attention to what your enemy is doing or you will instantly lose. Which is how this game should be anyway. You make a mistake, there should be no chance to recover at all. You should just lose. Unless of course, the enemy screws up even harder.

They should just try to make every class like the Elementalist with the amount of skill and effort it takes to play well.
ele isn’t hard to play, it just sucks. there’s a difference
the only progression you need in a pvp game is a functioning leaderboard where you can gauge your skill and how it is progressing vs other players. Gear grind belongs in pve. I really don’t understand what armor the other players wear matter? I personalize my toons the way I like them and I couldn’t give a kitten more about what others use.
There are better ways to do “gear” progression. More minimal stuff that is still distinctive, like gw1’s capes.

if you play often u should have enough gold / glory to purchase a lv 80 char with full exotic gears.there is no need for ascend gears if you are good as you claim to be.
“play often” means playing outside of pvp, which is completely against what was advertised in this game. And like i said, pvp players are always creating a deleting lvl 2 toons to get classes ready to swap pre-match. its part of strategy and this would kill that.
it will never happen because it would eliminate the equality that defines spvp. And equality isn’t just equality in gear, it’s also being able to make any profession you want an take it right to the mists, pvp players have their character select screen full of level 2’s and with this you would eliminate that. People would have to level a character straight to 80 and then get geat in order to get any profession they deem strong enough to play with.
And not only that, there’s a reason why spvp only has the amulets. Power creep is already a problem in spvp, but it’s even a bigger problem in wvw with the stupidly high stats. This is just a bad idea, many have mentioned this and it just won’t work. The closest that I think COULD work is choosing the power of stats in the amulets, like a thief taking zerk amulet but choosing with a higher vitality number and lower power/precision. But even this would maybe be too strong, specially on warriors.
