People have been asking for this since solo queue was added. It’s common sense, honestly.

errr no. it is definitely not “common sense” but more to “selfishness” and “elitism” that is quite abundant within the sPvP community.

removing anet’s public hotjoin servers will not help the situation.

these are some better fixes:
- much better winning rewards for solo arena
- better tutorial for conquest mode
- advanced tutorial for conquest mode

please stop blaming anet’s public hotjoin servers for solo arena’s and team arena’s problems. the problem lies with the toxic sPvP community, especially those elitism “veteran” purist 100% sPvP only players who thinks their opinions matters.

what elitism? do you even know what elitism is? Hotjoin is broken. it should be removed and replaced by a 5v5 (it makes 0 sense to have an 8v8 when skills are capped at 5 targets) solo queue-like queue, except with no rating. This way people could practice without destroying their rating (in case anyone still cares) and actually learn the game without having to deal with so much imbalanced games.

And why do you keep saying that hotjoin is the place for casuals to go to? Hotjoin is super anti casual. It’s frustrating. Solo queue IS for casual players. It’s the best way for those that just want a few games and don’t have time to find a team to play the game. Solo queue is just as casual as it gets. You’re mixing casual play with “i don’t want to know how good I actually am” play.

Oh and btw THIS " *the welfare of casuals players will always be a priority. * " is elitism in its most obvious form.

Why nerf this? For some builds, this is basically the only access to stability and condition removal they have.

the condition removal stays. and the builds that use this for stability will benefit a lot more from its counters not getting free aegis and stability than getting it themselves

Wanted to bump this thread and I’d like to know more insights on what would theoretically happen if ANET patched something such as this.

I’m not, this was a change made because of the dominance of thieves in wvw with the extra second they got after stealth ended, because of culling. Then they removed culling and reverted revealed to 3 seconds in wvw and kept 4 seconds in spvp. If any of the game modes had to keep 4 second revealed , it should have been wvw because damage there is a lot higher than in spvp and more backstabs have a much greater impact than they would have here.
But you really like your logic though.

I’m not even saying that 4 second revealed should be lowered, it just shows the wackamole balance that goes on in this game. 4 second revealed is fine.

Conditionmancer’s damage got nerfed hard with this last patch, falling to levels below release.
MM builds are now the only one marginally viable for Necros since at least it has some ammount of sustain.

Necros don’t have other builds worth using anymore so all Necros you see will probably be MM.

thief has 4 seconds reveal because of the problems in wvw in culling. then they fixed culling but for some reason they left 4 second reveal in pvp. so we got 4 second reveal in pvp because anet wanted to fix wvw

In the video I was mentioning earlier, I found out that warrior is the only class I have ever seen that can survive a stun+100 Blades+frenzy with somewhere between 25% to 50% of its health left.

In that video, I also beat a necro who was at around 25% health with full Death Shroud activated while I had <1k health.

what build your warrior is using? please share.

surviving stun + 100 blades + frenzy with 25% – 50% health left is intended if the warrior is build defensively. warriors are not supposed to be paper dolls.

winning a 1 vs 1 with < 1k health remaining hardly justifies the warrior as over powered. in team fights the warrior will be focused and dead.

ITT: Bad warriors try to justify keeping the highest healing per minute skill in the game on a class with the highest base health and armor.

Stay bad, bros.

You missed the point, adrenal health actually sucks on its own since its like 300 hp(at max adrenaline lvl) per 3sec not 1sec, but when they tick at the same time as HS wich would be like close to 700hp people just go berzerker “omg so muchhh heallll nerf nerfff HS” since they don’t realize sometimes they heal in pair(if you have full adrenaline wich is not 24/7)

Dude you know 0 of this game. Even an all day hotjoiner like you should understand that people don’t put traits in traitlines for the stats. Just because the traitline is called “defensive” doesn’t mean the warrior is investing in it for it’s defensive purposes.
You put traits in it to get cleansing ire and merciless hammer (cd reduction and % damage increase, so defensive). If these traits were in the strength tree, warriors would invest in the strength tree to get these traits. And after that you can get destruction of the empowered, empowered and burst mastery lol SO MUCH DEFENSE. And that healing power change… i don’t even know what you say. You don’t understand kitten of this game. stop playing hotjoin, it’s only making you scrubier.

The only thing worse than this game is people thinking that a class with 10 second condi immunity, highest sustain and highest base health, highest armor, 3 condi removal guaranteed on 8 second cd (best condi removal in a meta build), good to excelent AoE and single target damage coupled with aoe CC on low cd, is fine and not broken. I mean, the warrior is completely molding a meta by its own, and you guys want to pass them as a fine, completely balanced class. It’s ridiculous.

But who cares, game is pretty much dead anyway.

PSPSPSPS: Regarding the post below mine: lying doesn’t make your arguments any better friend. Backstab could it 11k in some kittenty signet might thief build MAYBE! And only if alot of variables aligned making like a 1 in 20 chance of that happening. Now that is in a super kittenty super glass thief build. In any d/p build aiming to be good for tournaments backstab will NEVER hit for 11k.

how is it possible that in such a high budget game, we got such a bad leaderboard system and pvp rating? How is it possible that someone wins 11 games and jumps to 1st on the leaderboards? Seriously, first place? All a person has to do in guild wars 2 to be the “best player” is try kitten an afternoon, get lucky with his team and override all effort anyone might have put before that. It could be months effort gone to kitten because someone, on the last day before the leaderboards were reset and rewards handed, got lucky. This doesn’t happen in any other serious game I’ve played… This screams incompetence all over.
Can we please have decent matchmaking? Please? Ladders won’t make a difference if the matchmaking is still this garbage we got now.

edit: i mean, the guy that got rank 1 didn’t even know how the leaderboard works! LOL He was like “yeah guys i don’t show up on the leaderboard, how does this work? … oh wait nevermind, I found it.. Oh look I’m rank 1 LOL”

Pindown has a very obvious projectile, it has a bit less than half a second travel time, good players can see and dodge it. Also like most projectiles, if you just strafe left right really fast you can dodge every single lb auto attack + pindown, same works for guardian scepter, necro staff, thief shortbow, lots of ranger attacks. Once again, just because everyone is too new to know about projectile mechanics dosent make a class op.

Sure friend, but you see, old sport, just because a warrior is using a longbow, it doesn’t mean the warrior will be at long range, in fact, warrior will use longbow f1, cover the whole point, and stand as close to you as possible so they hit arcing arrow. Now it’s the time you tell me to keep my distance from the warrior. That implies leaving the point and that way I’m already loosing to the warrior.

There is a massive telegraph for arcing shot and if the warrior is somehow beside you with the longbow you are doing it terribly wrong.

right, because this isn’t a point holding game, and the warrior doesn’t have 3 stuns in the other weapon, and he can’t switch back to longbow right after getting a stun off. but dude I’m doing something wrong. Me and everyone playing this game because this meta is completely defined by warrior, but I’M doing something, ONLY me, it’s a ME problem, not a warrior problem lol

yeah i don’t know how people get hit by that. it’s not like pin down animation is identical to the auto attack animation…

I agree on that: the only times my Pin Down gets avoided is because of random dodges by people spamming a lot of them.

That’s how it goes: to solve the problem of hard to read/ too fast animation they give an over abundance of dodges. Thus it ends in people spamming them because it’s the best way to avoid stuff.

We are forced to do the same against every other proffesion so what is the problem here?Everyone can do it and a lot more than warrior.Game needs more telegraphed and animation on all classes especially ranged ones not just on warrior and all others get free pass.

the problem is in the core of the game. its the clutter, its the too much vigor, its the no resource management for skills, its the lack of animation on all important spells. the problem is spam wars 2

yeah guys, playing berserker hambow isnt easy. just look at that f1 longbow skillshot, you really have to be careful to not miss it. and don’t get me started on stances. you really gotta focus to not miss the skillshot of stances. or pin down. also very hard. you really don’t have as much defense except highest base armor and health and healing signet and stances. its really verry hardy to paly. brb gotta take my meds

A berserker warri has like 2300-2400 armor and around 20k HP. It’s not enough to facetank pressure from a coordinated team, you actually need to time your dodge rolls and yes, stances, which have high CDs. Hammer/longbow is fairly static and cannot kite/disengage from the fight so once he starts being focused with the stances on CD, his healing signet turns into his worst enemy because he cannot burst heal with anything to relieve the pressure.

You actually wouldn’t be able to land longbow F1 on anything if this game wasn’t about point-holding because players can simply move away from it. It’s strong for those situations, but nowadays it doesn’t do as much damage as it used to. Also the firefield is small unless used with full adrenaline.

I believe good players have already adjusted to the hambow warriors and can counter them perfectly well. Mostly it’s just casters being dumb, overly aggressive and out of position which gives the warriors an easy day at the office. Also it’s a good idea to have your casters being protected by a warrior of your own. I feel the warrior’s job is more that of a protector/enabler of the real damage dealer instead of the guy who somehow face rolls everybody with super damage output (which imo it doesn’t have at this point).

The guy is actually correct. Hammer/Longbow warriors are now in a good spot and nowhere close to overpowered, nor are they in any way too weak.

Anyway, you’re completely right, not ALL the good players and teams left, a few teams remained on the game, maybe 3 or 4 per region. But even on those teams, none has the original roster anymore.

Hell, even the teams that played pax finals have disbanded/changed rosters.

And it’s not just about being op, it’s about unfun mechanics and unfun meta classes that are boring to play or to play against. It’s also about the ridiculous class balance and balance changes, but not limited to.

But yeah, the game is fine and there’s no problem if teams quit right? I mean, only 80 teams played team queue in NA in the 4/5 days after the reset, but the game is fine tho and the players doubled in team queue and triple in solo queue!

Deceptive Evasion has to be on the list as no real mesmer build functions without it.

you can play confounding suggestion mesmer with 30/10/0/0/30 with iPersona instead of deceptive evasion. I find it better for 1v1s, but in a tpvp game where your clones get killed by cleave you need deceptive evasion or else you never have clones.

But yeah, the defining traits for mesmer are iPersona and deceptive evasion.

December 10 Patch - Our Constructive Feedback

This is a PvE game. Devs don’t care about feedback from PvPers.

you are actually wrong. I’m pretty sure that most of the pvp feedback gets to pvp devs, they’re actually the dev team closest to its players. And while they have made some weird decisions that go against what players wanted, they also invest their time in alot of what is asked by us. I’m not talking about the quality of what comes out, just that they do listen, more than in any other game I’ve played (except indie games).

But anyway,

The good,

- No more perma-vigor engies (mesmer’s next I guess).
- The changes to confounding suggestions (mesmer trait) might be a good incentive to start using some shatter variations (A more shatter/control playstyle that could be really fun with a team).
-The S/D thief change was really good too, which now makes a confounding suggestions mesmer a good counter to s/d thieves.
-Skullcrack change was also pretty good, and the hammer damage was good too, but maybe unsuspecting foe moving up would have been enough.
-Less conditions flying around and I’ve been able to play alot more old school portal/IoL mesmer. Not sure if related to the patch but whatever.
-Some healing signets have cool concepts but are too weak as it is, like necro signet heal. The warrior stance heal is also great because, like endure pain, it seems like it takes the right timing to take advantage of it, but it will always be overshadowed by healing signet.

The bad,

-Diamond skin. It can be absolute broken in a certain scenario, and a few moments later completely worthless. Hard counter all over. Just a complete trash idea.
- The mesmer heal. While, in my opinion, it’s balanced in shatter specs and can lead to great plays or disaster depending on the players, also encourages phantasm specs and pu specs, and both of these (specially PU) are a complete joke.
- New ranger spirit. I don’t think i need to say anything more…

The missing,

-Warrior signet nerfed. They could even do it something similar to the mesmer signet. Decrease the HPS but give it a strong active effect, anything would be better than the way it is now.
-The mantra pre-cast time… NO ONE will use a full mantra support build while the pre cast for mantras 2 and a half seconds, it doesn’t make sense.
-More awkward traits reworked. Again, using the example of mantras. There’s a trait that makes mantras heal. Approx. 2k I believe. That sounds pretty good right? Mantras have 2 charges base, that means 4k heal per mantra right? WRONG! The heal is after the 2 and half second cast! It’s a 2k heal for a 2sec+ cast time ability. It’s completely self contradicting. You need the mantras charged as often as possible, why would you put a heal that encourages not charging them? And there’s a lot more awkward traits like this.
-Ele base hp is too low. Ele is still locked out of the game.
-D/D thief weapon set rework for skills #3 and #4. S/D thief rework for stealth skill.

Yes, Skyhammer is one of the best maps. It require a lot of control.

I rather see Raid on the Capricorn go. It’s just bad and need some work to feel and play better. Every time people rotate and capture one after the other. It doesn’t feel right. The cannon is good but it feels out of place as well, not as popular as the Skyhammer. Rework Capricorn. Skyhammer should stay.

Capricon is not played in soloqueue, skyhammer should not stay in soloqueue noone cares about hotjoin.

Yes i’m playing Solo Arena and Skyhammer is good. Let it stay.

You don’t need to look for numbers to know that there’s a ridiculously low number of people queuing. At mid percentile games (60-80 ish %) if you keep queue up right after the game ended you WILL play again with the same people that you queued before, at MID percentiles… I wouldn’t be surprised if the number of pve’rs playing the mini games (keg brawl etc) for the daily and achievement was superior to the regular pvpers number.

they won’t remove them because the map team thinks they are brilliant maps (remember the dev post about skyhammer? all the hype about the awesome fun map they made?), and their ego is too much for them to step down from their pedestal and be humble enough to remove the maps.

But they are frickin awful maps, every time i get one of those i wish i hadn’t queued in the first place.

Out for 3 months, worth it to return?

I would be ok with no trinity if what we had wasn’t such an unorganized mess, where nothing has a specific purpose.
I mean, it didn’t even solve the healer problem (the problem of having to look for a healer and the long and boring time to kill), every team will run a bunker guardian. It’s actually worse, in the sense that all teams run the same support class.

I think it would have been great if they made some classes have some weapon set that healed in AoE, untargeted frontal cones etc etc, BUT that wouldnt heal the healer. The healer would have to rely on the 6th skill to heal himself like others do. And there could be other interesting ideas, like a weapon skill that put a mark on an ally target and 50% of the next X attacks are redirected to the “healer”.
There were so many ways they could have made healers interesting without removing them. And then maybe we wouldn’t have to rely on downed state to add depth.

There isn’t really a meta for what each class does but there are some rules of thumb, that are very subjective to each game.

-Immobile classes should not push far. You will eventually get 1v2ed at far, and your class should be able to disengage quickly. Also, never have your whole team at far point, its the biggest mistake I see happening, my team wins close and mid, “oh well, only far is theirs, lets ALL go far!!”. You should focus on mid and close, and harass far, most times you shouldn’t even full cap far. Sometimes it’s better to decap far, go mid and win your team the team fight (the opponent will be outnumbered because you forced someone to go recap close) then go back to harassing far.

-A tanky spec usually caps close point (your condition mesmer will do, as long as it isn’t stealth heavy). This is so you can either take a beating for sometime (even if against 2 opponents) and give time for your team to come and help you. BUT, playing on close point doesn’t mean “stay there the whole game”.

-Bunker guardians usually go straight to mid point and stay there most of the time. Even if you don’t have a guardian, someone should always stay on mid point.

its not just the pulls. its also the stupid hammer screwing your whole fight on a point and then there’s nothing you can do about it because a stupid engineer is on the hammer guarded by an hambow warrior who’s attacks you can’t dodge because the camera on the room sucks
