nope, wouldn’t touch guild wars 2 ever again.
I also played rogue back in wotlk and you should be prepared to encounter a much worse infrastructure here than you get in wow.
With that said, gw2 has a much more exciting gameplay. It’s faster paced, z-axis mobility, lots of leaps and stuff that keeps the fight moving around. So in the end, there is always hope for this game to get better because infrastructure is the kind of thing that can always be improved.
The game is still suffering from many poor launch decisions, but we’re slowly improving that (the most glaring issue is more game modes, which are supposed to be being worked on). My advice is to take this game casually for the time being. garethh.3518 is being way too negative in what he says. If you want to play gw2 just for pvp, you should do it, because it still is a great pvp experience despite it all, and I feel, after playing gw2 for a year, that my gaming skills in all types of games have improved a a lot. I have a love-hate relationship with this game because things are either really well done and nigh perfect (mesmer class) or really really awful(hint hint skyhammer map, be prepared).
I think you will both enjoy mesmer and thief. Thief is your typical stealth ambush class, though not as cc oriented as wow’s rogues. Mesmer is more like a mage assassin from mobas and such, really high burst damage, can either burst from range or melee depending on the weapon set and also has a few stealth skills.

perma regen, 30k hp banner warrior running the orb with sword mainhand greatsword… “interesting”
Oh, you doing specs for hotjoin maps? You so pro.
hotjoin? Random stupid troll but whatever. bunker warrior with sword/shield is great for orb running, i don’t even know what your point is because you didn’t make one.
and hotjoin maps? there are people running bunker banner warrior in much higher playing level than you play. http://intothemists.com/guides/1004-banner_bunker_warrior
so how about you inform yourself first before acting like some pvp expert and fail, k? “you so pro.”
It’s because it’s different, and people don’t like different. They don’t want to have to bend their strategies to account for another major variable. They don’t like trying to come up with new and interesting ideas.
People are lazy and boring, and so they don’t like spirit watch.
perma regen, 30k hp banner warrior running the orb with sword mainhand greatsword… “interesting”
I’m not setting foot in solo queue until there is skyhammer and rewards are so uneven. There’s no point. It’s a much better experience loosing to a full premade group on khylo than winning on skyhammer.
Last time I was playing gw2 I didn’t have many uneven matches actually, maybe 2/3 in about 50 i played over a weekend. So if skyhammer wasn’t in the map pool, it would be a lot better for solo players than team queue. But it would still suck because the game lacks the features for a solo queue game mode.
And the game has been dead for quite some time friend.
That mesmer probably couldn’t even tell you why dps guardians aren’t the best for conquest. he just heard some “pro” player say it and then he just repeats that like a parrot. he doesn’t know why, but if the pros say it, it must be true.
it’s like that in any game that has a game mode that pairs you with strangers. when you don’t know the others playing with you it’s always easy to act all witty and put all blame in others. it’s typical solo queue attitude. welcome to the pvp side of online games
“mature players”
“no warriors”
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
no profit
he got to 30 not because warrior is op but because the leaderboards are an awful joke. 8 wins 4 losses put you in top 30? seriously? rofl this game is bad beyond words can describe.
this thread, i enjoy it. Another!
It’s not logic, it’s balance. Where’s the logic in someone getting sliced by a great sword or hit by a meteor and surviving?
There’s a precedent for it in numerous games.
and is there logic in those games? video games follow logic only to a minimum.
but if it bothers you that much, I’m sure anet can change the name of the skill group from “shout” to “hand clap” and blind makes sense because the warrior misses clapping his hands. there you go, problem solved.
while we’re at it, what logic is there in berserker stance? how can it make anyone immune to bleed? does it turn the warrior into rock? to burning? does berserker stance apply like a water layer to the warrior? Where’s the logic?
All skills that target an opponent miss when blinded, including utilities and elites. It has been that way since launch and it is how it’s supposed to be, nothing wrong with that. And this is a fantasy game, real life rules don’t apply here. It doesn’t for the sake of the game if in real life blind people are still scary, just like burning people in gw2 can still run around like nothing was happening instead of rolling on the floor trying to put the fire out.
And black out the screen when blinded? I dare you to think of a more unpleasing gaming experience, with your screen going black every 5 seconds when fighting a thief. What is the point? Adding more rng? Whoever makes a better guess of where to go or where the opponent is wins? I’m having a seizure just from thinking about it. The dim effect on the opponent is not to make it hard to see, but to give a visual cue that you are blinded.
The only thing about blind that I think could be done is make blind a lot lot lot shorter in duration, make it no stack and also make skills that blind instant and reduce travel times for projectiles. This would improve the reward for reactionary play. But I have no idea if this would work because blind is mostly fine.
ps: reaching your numpad 9 with your right hand? Did it read that correctly? what…

a warrior complaining about a necro. l2p dude.
he was complaining about the visual particle spam idiot
why is this guy still here on forums? this person should be banned from forums for being abusive and extremely rude.
pls dont let people like this infest your forums, anet.
this is just a game and people just wanna play. if youre not having fun just go away. we dont want anymore rude people in the game. you should be ashamed of yourself.
“mommy charlie bit my finger :’(”
It’s funny, you just said to a guy “learn to play” which is in itself an abusive and insulting thing to say on gaming forums. You only meant to offend when you said it, and you had no background to think that “sorrow” is a bad player. And not only that, you were also wrong on what you said, because no where in the post does “sorrow.2364” complains that MM necros are op. There is only a picture that clearly shows why MM necros are bad for the game and that is the screen clutter. You were the first person to be rude on this thread. God, I can’t stand hypocrite people like you acting all good Samaritan.

oh the QQ pvp community evryday theres a new thread about something either skyhammer or builds, you dont like it stop playing but please stop QQing here.
“stop playing” is exactly what most people went for
Got curious, opened twitch, saw he plays engi :s, closed twitch
then you’re an idiot because teldo is most likely the best player in gw2
Boring meta, lack of depth, meta specs that pretty much play themselves like an auto pilot, and no hopes for the future because anet keeps adding passive skills and traits (100% against what the community wants and the game needs). I actually didn’t have frequent 4v5’s in the last time I played, it’s just the meta builds that make the game annoying.
kitten , I love it when random forum heroes, with nothing to show for them, tell known experienced players that they need to learn the game. It’s just so satisfying
it’s funny to think back at that time when anet kept saying they wanted to shave down cantrip ele without destroying it or the other variations that didn’t play with cantrips, aka double arcane ele 0/20/0/20/30 which was hardly op and was super fun to play. well anet, look at the mess you have turn eles into.
Hate skyhammer, love the uninstall process speed.
why is a thread with such stupid trait swapping suggestions getting so much feedback?
troch cooldown increased? just remove pu from the game its useless in tpvp and really really strong in hotjoin which helps nobody
This is an incredibly stupid comment. It’s a cheese build not playable in tourny play, but should be removed regardless. What a stupid, dumb comment.
This is an incredibly stupid comment. You give no insight to the discussion and no opinion that continues the discussion the thread proposes. What a stupid, dumb comment.
drop dual daggers. you need the blinds from d/p to beat necro. d/d is a siting duck for necros to bomb their stuff away
during one keep battle, a fellow warrior was downed near me so i went ahead and revived him. i popped a “fear me!” just in case.
good job buddy
Keep telling yourself that friend.
Now, read through this(https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/NA-sPvP-Team-Queue-Participation/first#post3294131) thread and realize that double of extremely low numbers is still extremely low numbers. Not to mention that that “double” came from anet. And that “double” was obviously caused by new rewards that only bring people to replay spvp for so long, until they have the rewards they want and move on again. It would be ok if people quit but new people started playing the game, but that is not the case. If anything, you should come up with some evidence because it’s pretty clear that spvp is one huge flop (and a quote by an anet dev saying that “players double and tripled” doesn’t cut it).
The reason you hate people saying that the game is dying is you don’t want to know that a game that you paid for and used to love has failed miserably in pvp. Been there too, but you should face the facts.
Conquest will never work in e-sports.
There is no build up in conquest, the game is always steady, the points keep flowing in and there is never a tense moment where the match halts because the next move can decide the game. This is why, in my opinion, games with an early/mid/late game are making it work. There’s the slow early game for people to get a sense of strats going on, there’s the fast paced mid game where all sort of plays can happen, and then, if the game gets to it, there’s the super tense late game, where every decision makes the difference. There is tension and the crowd is nervous, there’s emotion.
In gw2, in conquest, the only map that comes close to this is foefire, and even that is nowhere near that level, you can’t really appreciate what is going on. You see the enemy team playing piñata with the lord and the defenders desperately trying to keep it alive, while the casters are just bambling words waiting to see who comes out victor. It’s a mess. If you watch BLU’s bets of 2013 pvp video, most of the highlights are lord kills, monster kills or stomps. It’s never a pure player play.
So yeah, conquest only was a pretty bad idea ArenaNet friends.
Bomb/nade has a bit of a learning curve because of the kit swapping but once you get used and memorize all the buttons it’s pretty simple and its pretty easy to win 1on1’s, specially in conquest, and it can be and feel a little spammy. Some engineers claim that it’s hard because you have alot of buttons to push but i think that that actually makes it a little easier since that way you always have something to pressure your foe.
With that said, despite being easy to play, it still has room to improve with the things you can do with blast finishers and such. I think that it is a good example of what an easy to play build should be like: small (but still mechanically demanding) learning curve, leading to good effectiveness that still has a huge room to be improved upon.
My point was that every profession should have to make at least two decisions about his heal skill—“when should I use my heal skill?” and “which heal skill should I use?” Warriors currently can’t make either decision, because nothing is better than taking HS and not using it, period. That removes an important part of the game from warriors and also makes the game more passive/frustrating for other players.
Let’s be real here and answer me how many different heal skills do you see on other classes? Most classes use the same heal regardless of their build with very few exceptions.
Mesmers? Ether Feast
Elementalist? Ether Renewal
Engineers? Healing Turret
Ranger? Healing Spring
Guardian? Shelter
Necromancer? Consume Conditions
Thief? Withdraw if S/D, Hide In Shadows if D/P
That’s true for 90% of all professions and anytime somebody uses a different heal it’s a huge exception and first thing that catches the eye.
As for when to use your healing skill, that’s another one of those things people get so hung up on. Truth is, unless you are playing a build that has access to a secondary form of healing, you will always use your heal when you drop below a certain threshold that guarantees no overheal, delaying the heal for any other reason than poison on you means playing inefficiently.
This is not always true for bunkers, as those builds usually have other means to heal themselves and thus do not rely entirely on their heal to regain health.
Healing Signet is absolutely fine for a class like the warrior. Current meta builds for the warrior class do not allow them to disengage at will, nor are they much of a threat at distance with their tickling longbow auto.
Two wrongs don’t make a right.
Just because the other classes also have few heals to choose from, doesn’t mean that that is how it should be for the warrior and anet has to start balancing heals somewhere. And healsig is definitely NOT “absolutely fine”. When an ability has an active effect that is always completely ignored by all players, something is not working as intended. Or do you think anet, when designing this skill, thought “this skill has an active effect, but yeah who cares it’s not supposed to be used”? The skill is broken, not only in power, but also in mechanics.
no, warriors with healing signet are not powered.
if this is true, then we will see warriors everywhere.
did we see that?
no.what we are seeing in forums are cries of non warriors who wishes for warriors to become free kills again.
regen is reduced to 200hp/s
this is another fine example of a non warrior asking for warriors to become free kills again.
please go and play warrior with healing signet and see if warriors are really that overpowered.
you have the worst logic i have ever seen in this subforum.
all of your arguments are stuff like “warrior is not overpowered because if it was we would see only warriors. do we see only warriors? no? then warriors are not overpowered!” or “warrior is not overpowered because sometimes i still die on my warrior to condi damage or direct damage!” (i swear you have said something almost exactly like this awhile ago). These are just… dumb statements.
(edited by ahuba.6430)
warriors are not overpowered because if warriors are overpowered, everyone would only play warriors in sPvP and nothing else.
happy new year!
how can one argue against such a bullet proof argument? are you like, an irl lawyer ?
8/10
very good
it was indeed an 8/10, but then I scrolled down and read the following, and the thread suddenly became a 10/10.
warrior is not that easy to play because it’s mellee. i gave up playing it. it’s just too hard for me. i prefer ranged classes (ranger, necro, mesmer and ele).
Really good thread to start the year. Spvp subforum already delivering in 2014.
You need to have played 11. If you’ve won 11 matches (a majority of these needing to be against good players because of the way MMR works) out of 11 then you deserve a good spot, and if you’re a lucky pretender then the next played matches will set you down or decay will take care of it.
if you win 11 matches you will usually end up rank 1 on the leaderboards (this literally happened like a month ago). You can say that if you really aren’t good enough, you will drop down, but what if someone gets 11 wins just before the season reset? 11 games played for the highest rank reward…
11 games are not enough to tell if you deserve a good spot or not, you only need to get lucky. The last guy that had this luck and posted about it here on the forum was only rank 25, and he himself admitted he wasn’t THAT good and that he just got lucky good teams. The system right now is broken. Not only 11 matches is too low, but the mmr needs to start at a lower number and needs to be less volatile. 11 games and getting rank 1 is humiliating for the players and the devs.
I’d like to see the warrior longbow burst skill at first be a single target skill which creates the same field after connecting successfully with a target. Basically, hit a target and you get that massive OP damaging burning field that has like a 900 radius. This would at least add counterplay to longbow and warriors would start considering running other weapon sets.
hmmm no this is too big of a nerf.
the current targeting system is fine.
I’m sorry, are we talking about the same thing here? Because I’m talking about a guaranteed, unavoidable 3 condition clear on a 8 second cooldown (best condition clear in the game), uncounterable huge point pressure skill. It’s fire a forget at it’s best demonstration. You press the skill, and the skill WILL be worth it, no matter what you do with it. You can aim it at the ceiling of clock tower and remove conditions with it for kittens sake. And you say that it’s “fine”? Maybe in your little realm of hotjoin glory it feels fine because everyone is still try harding bullscharge hundredblades for maximum hotjoin trashtalking.
This skill is the dps version of healing signet, you put the shiny aoe circle down and the skill will go off and damage something, and there’s nothing your opponent can do about it.
What infantrydiv said is NOT a nerf. Where the hell do you see a nerf? All it does is add skillfull play to the skill, you know? Like, awareness of conditions on you, boons on target, position of target, position of yourself. Probably this would be too much for some warriors to handle because they got so used to just faceroll through the game, and THAT is the reason warriors like you oppose to these kind of changes. You know you can’t handle this kind of gameplay, it’s too hard for you. And Anet agrees with this! They want to keep their game simplified (and simple can be good, as long as it is simple AND fair) and that is why skills like these or diamond skin are here to stay. Or why rangers won’t have more buttons to control pets because apparently “they already have too many buttons” (Arena Net ^tm). But who cares, this game is dead. A new balance patch is approaching and no one can really tell yet what the last patch did to the meta game, because there is absolutely ZERO competition.
Can’t wait for the January patch notes! Get ready for the new living story installment: “How to deliver a balance patch with no players to explore our previous changes – The desolation of Karl”
(edited by ahuba.6430)
what exactly is wrong with confounding suggestions + chaos storm?
kitten some necros actually believe they do LESS damage than before the dumbfire patch? lol the things people tell themselves…
- Move Blade Training to master tier.
- Move Desperate Decoy to grandmaster tier.
- Move Empowered Mantra to adept tier.
- Move Deceptive Evasion to adept tier.
lol this would make shatter mesmer absurdly overpowered. This would be such a huge buff.
Really, some people should be stripped of their forum rights for posting on the forums. You have no clue of what you are talking about.
As many know I main guardian mesmer and thief…and never even tried engi, and lemme guess…you are wvsw hero? Since i can find you nowhere…
WvW, tPvP, hotjoin, and have every class for every mode (finished leveling thief today so I can try him in wvw too). And when I’m looking at your endless complaining, I think that your experience with different modes and classes is quite limited.
Yeah…because saying war is fine just because you probably love to faceroll random scrubs in wvsw and don’t want to lose your “hurr durr i can do everything because kitten balance” shows an enormous sotg awarness (Even talkin’ bout pvp where you apparently never even did something decent), go troll somewhere else please…nough trolls on this forum already..
dude he has classes for every mode, he plays wvw and hotjoin and just leveled a thief to 80! You’re clearly not on his level, because he learnt everything about balance with his special hotjoin class.
kitten i love these random forum heroes that come to the forums waving their empty arguments thinking they know everything about balance, when maybe half of the people here have twice the games played.
And why do people think playing more classes gives you any more insight on game balance than everyone else?
(edited by ahuba.6430)
spvp subforum keeps delivering
8/10 seconds in which warrior pretty much takes ur face off keyboard away.
Sounds its working as intented to prevent facerolling.
8/10 seconds in which the warrior shoves his face even harder in their keyboard than before
Um you don’t have perma anything, you just end the video when you run out of cooldowns
I was mainly showing the ability to evade/stealth for the cool-down duration of a healing skill without traits. I would have loved to post a traited video of evade spamming for an hour but I figured it’s already common knowledge that perma stealth/evade can be done. My main goal was to show that, contrary to many players belief, you don’t need heavy traiting to evade or stealth long enough to heal up. This realization will possibly open doors for more thief build diversity. XD
dude, all you do with stealth in the video is pop refuge and then heartseeker through black powder (very inefficiently btw). every thief and their mother knows this, every thief knows he can pop refuge and stay in stealth waiting for cooldowns at least once in a fight. In fact, if you’re going to do this you will be better off if you just break out combat and comeback, no need to waste refuge.
and evade s/d thief has been a meta build for like 8 months now, you’re not discovering the wheel lol oh yeah and watch out for that double shortbow bunker thief meta.
Idk I just wanted to show how the low trait point cost allows many build possibilities. XD
lol this doesn’t allow for anything except being useless.
lol warriors really think 10 seconds are “just a few sec” …
So when 2 people use the exact same build..and fight each other..There will be one winner based on what.. ? The build ? No,his skill.
a little skill but mostly luck, who’s rune procs or who gets more crits etc.
That’s ridiculous. Its all about skill and there’s a little luck involved.
spirit ranger vs spirit ranger: whoever gets more burning procs wins
spvp is a massive failure and unless they put a decent effort into it, it’s gonna stay that way. sPvp launched with near ZERO extra features.
the leaderboards were reset about a month ago, and the day after that reset, only ~200 accounts played team queue in NA. Pvp is as dead as it can be and there are a lot less tournaments now than there were back in july/june. Back then tournaments were reaching 5/6k viewers, right now you get to 300 on good days.
They are trying to connect sPvp more the rest of the game with new rewards and such, and that might revive it a bit, but even if more people start playing, they will realize the glaring issues of it and the complaint will still be there:
-Bad matchmaking.
-Broken leaderboard.
-Faceroll meta builds.
-Lack of variety in game modes.
-Slow development.
