im sitting at 85% for a long time now and i havent fought any top teams so far, but im no eu. maybe its worse on na, you have less players right now. and also, facing good teams is not a problem, at 70% you should be an half decent players, and even if you loose you wouldnt(or shouldnt) loose too much rating and you would have a chance to learn, fighting top teams is GOOD, I mean, I would love to fight Paradigm or Made in Meta even though id be roflstomped, or maybe not, who knows. The problem is premade vs solo queuers, and the bug that puts random rank 1 in the middle of rank 40’s. I’m still amazed how the “bugfix patch” didn’t address the worst bug in the game.
the loosing team should have an animation with evil looking people looking down upon them with mocking eyes full of contempt with a background sound of evil laughs. now THAT would be esport mlg AAA level
infact they should allocate even more resources for heavy and hard tasks like these (aka copy pasting from pve) and freaking give us random map rotation fractals style.

So much face palm in this post I don’t even know where to start.
Spectator mode does not make you miss a guild rush. Spectator mode has nothing to do with you sitting and saying “I have nothing to say at all during this down time.”Spectator mode is not an excuse. Is it somewhat rough right now? Yes. But that does not mean you should not be able to give in depth analysis as to tactics rotations and situations that are currently evolving. It is so blatantly obvious when teams are going for lord rushes that the fact that they are even missed is beyond me.
You can’t sit here and tell me that it makes sense to be talking about an in game clock and the numbers on it when you are on the grand final of a tournament, best of 5 and on the final possible map and the other team is changing its composition.
Why are they doing this, what could they benefit from doing this, what kind of rotations can they do from this etc etc. All possible things that could be talked over and they choose a CLOCK.
Then you have the nerve to bring up a leaderboard ranking, as if that even matters. This leaderboard is such a joke that anyone can practically be carried as long as they have a basic idea of what is going on and can move around. Give me a break. I bet you thought supcutie really got the chief kill too didnt you.
They didnt notice MiM was on the other lord aswell, so what? kitten happens, it’s really the only majror thing they missed, and they spent like, what, 10 seconds talking about the clock? wow big deal, they spent 6 hours casting with no real profit for them and they cant even joke about a freaking clock to relax?
And even if it was the worst game casting in the history of video-games, its even worse when some guy comes all presumptuous “yeah guys that casting was crap you dont know depth pm me ill teach you depth and criticize your casting even though i dont have the balls to step up like you did and put my face in front of the community.” Specially when one of the casters has done more for the pvp community than you and all your e-friends and family together.
Solo queue is a big deal for people who tournament. The problem is that PvP players are a small number compared to other modes such as WvW. If we want PvP to become success, more people need to play.
So, why don’t they? The answer is two fold:
1. Conquest becomes repetitive and boring. People want to duel, and people want team deathmatch. Increase the number of game modes.
2. People spend a lot of time gearing up in PvE, but then can’t use those in PvP. Sure, you don’t want an imbalance, but at least let people use the skins.

There are so many in depth things these shout casters could be talking about in between games, during the “dead air” periods that they just don’t know about.
So many times they are talking about how they have nothing to say when there is so much strategy team comp rotation etc they could be talking about. They miss crucial aspects of streaming such as lord attacks (blaming minimap is no excuse its extremely easy to watch) and calling tactics well before they happen.
If you guys need someone to help you understand the depth and strategy that is involved in this game please ask the community I think some of the better players can really help you.
Things like going over builds arent as crucial as you make them out to be, sure its nice for the noobs but you could just do something where they submit builds beforehand (build overview alone took up so much time and its so standard to the players that know what they are doing).
Please please look into strategy of the game and how team fight interaction works (peels, rotations, why someone should back cap right now vs why they shouldnt). If you need help please PM or message, im sure there are plenty of people who would help. Talking about why the krytan on the clocks looks like it does in the final match with everything on the line instead of strategy and what they thing could be going on and why PZ is making switches etc is just bad casting.
Anyway to leave this on a good note, grats on the successful tournament and viewers, hope we can make it better.

1-solo queue
2-even all the glitchy/cheap/nobrain stuff in the game. s/d thief, bm ranger, hgh engie. (NOTE: im not complaining its op, its just how easy and chease it is.). Fix the tp on ledges(make it even, it either works on all ledges or doesnt work on any. Hell, i’m not even sure if it was intended to work like this).
3-game modes.
Yep, people dont bother with chaning chars to get the best comp possible. 4 thieves? no problem, 3 rangers? no problem. if we had a pre game screen to select 1 of the characters we have (like LoL) maybe people would start to care.
Matchmaking will be really off it doesn’t consider rank because it’s indicator of time played.
unfortunately, rank is a bad meter for skill. it is an enormous joke that matchmaking is so bad atm, but mixing hotjoin hero rank with tourney rating will be an even sadder situation.
I never said it was an indicator of skill. But you’re wrong about it being worse. I’ll take being grouped with rank 40+’s and you can keep rank 10’s on your team.
The system should match players up in rank groupings and then kick in the Ratings. Should look for people at your same rating then slowly expand the search both high and low until a match is made then average the two ratings and repeat to find a third player average the rating out again and search again. Continue to repeat until you have a full team of 5 players.

Group C: Rank 15~24
Group B: Rank 25~39
Group A: Rank 40+I guarantee the games would be much more evenly matched.
that would be just super bad. imagine im playing in eu at rank 40 and for some reason move to na and decide to buy another account there. why should i have to grind for 2 months to get back to playing with people from my skill level?
Did I really read it right? The story will end in a solo instance? I thought we are playing a MMO here? Sorry but the amount of sympathy you are throwing towards complainers is becoming a bit to much. Now that they have their solo dungeon, I’m quite sure the next complaint will be the difficulty (“OMG dungeon so hard, please nerf!!!!”).
Solo instance = no challenge as it will be made to be catered to the less skilled players aswell, especially since teamwork is not possible, every encounter will be a “tank-and-spank” fest.
I will probably sound like an “elitist” by now but quite some people have been asking for new challenges within GW2 for months now and all we get is even more “casualized” content.
Personally I enjoy the Living Story a lot but if I had the choice between new challenging content or the current Living Story, I would take the challenging content any day.

I just wondered whether it’s worth coming back to GW2 yet? I left because there was no content/decent ranking/any love! I figure it’ll be a great game when they finally stop playing with their kittens, else, no, not really.
Good part is that it will only get better here onCould someone give me a brief run down of where sPvP and tPvP is at? Is it worth coming back yet or better to leave six months?
if you have a team that you think could hold its own agaisnt tp/mim/tcg and the likes, i guess its worth to come back and have a shot at the tournaments
Because they prefer/are used to easier game modes. such as… deathmatch arena.
Conquest in GW2 is dynamic, you are always moving, you are always making important decisions that can cost/win you the game, you have to be aware of the score, who is where, where are you needed, you need to always be thinking.
If you play it right, its most of the times not boring at all, I used to get far more boring games in WoW (hpaladin udk/hpaladin udk hurr) and I also get a fair share of LoL games that end on the 20minute mark by forfeit while i am still 0/0/0.
I think the problem that many people have with conquest is having to make decisions so often, whereas in (ig)dm you really only have to put the most damage in 1 opponent. People prefer not to think while gaming, and thats why in conquest weird decisions are always happening, leading to loosing games with a feeling of “what the hell happened”. For example, in 1/2 of the games in wich my team wins the opening mid fight, everybody zergs farpoint, leaving the two nodes open for decap. And the thing is, in 1/2 of the situations in wich my team goes 4 man into far node, the opponent team goes 5 man defending their node instead of taking advantage of the open node.
It’s hard to learn “how to conquest” and i think thats why many people have a grip with this game mode.
I’m not saying its the perfect game mode, and that it should be the only mode of gw2, but its definetly fun to play and has its depth.
There is no 1v1 because balance isn’t good at all, due to a pve design.
The go-to excuse is “It’s a team game, with objectives”, but I’m not buyin’ it.
I don’t like any game where a player can kill me just because he chose one class and I chose another. And 1v1’s are at least a momentary factor in conquest.
It goes like this: thieves and mesmers faceroll people with little skill involved, then they say: “Oh, but I can’t hold a point because of stealth, so you really win”
In reality, they (like most) don’t care about the meaningless conquest scores, they just wanna beat and destroy the hell out of people, and they do.
you are wrong, no team game has perfect 1 on 1. and its not just in video games, even in real sports. If football was all about 1 on 1 only the most skillfull could play at high level, but no, football is a team game, you can be bad with the ball on your feet but you can make the best decisions and that is valuable to a team, even if you are bad 1 on 1. And if you are great on 1 on 1, there will be times in a game where those 1 on 1 skills will be useless. Same with video games, rangers are great 1 on 1’ers, yet they bring very little to a teamfight, phantasm mesmers are great 1 on 1’ers , same deal, shatter mesmers running portal/IoL are vulnerable 1on1’ers, but they are huge in teamfights.
But the bolded statement really shows the spectrum of players you are playing with so i guess what i just told you wont make a difference.

Best balance yet by far between classes, but still tons of really bad skills/traits etc but that isn’t a huge deal.
i think whats beeing said is: balance between decent builds is good, while the crap builds/weapon sets are still crap.
I don’t think it was too bad before, only problems were eles and warriors, and now only warrior are a problem (an UP problem) while everything else is okish. and okish is good because in an mmo there will always be something that are better than other in a period of time.
i guess the map and custom servers go public, and some bug fixes like they said they would do.
why would it be cool? because league of legends does it?

When I try and play, one of two things happen:
1. I get a “Server is full” message even though they’re obviously not full
2. I can only spectate. Even when I click the “Join” cross swords icon it just takes me to spectator mode.Seriously Anet, did you test this at all?

- Why can people not make the argument that because another game has free custom arenas that this game should not also follow suite? Both games make money from micro transactions and GW2 has the added income from the fact that you have to purchase the game in order play in the first place. The argument that LoL is much more profitable could be attributed to the fact that players arent nickel and dimed in order to have an enjoyable pvp experience.
what? skins cost rp (only obtainable through money), ip boosters cost rp (ip is a pain to obtain, it takes like a month of casual playing to get a full rune set, let alone runesets for more than 1 role), runepages cost rp(!!!! you are limited to 2 roles basically before you buy more, and they cost as much as a champ skin)… the “nickeling and diming” in LoL is so much greater than in gw2.
You may be kind of right in point #1, but you cant know if point #2 will happen. and you can’t definetly deny the moneymaking possibilities that CAs bring to the spvp side of the game.
Well, this is a game changer for me. I’ve been looking forward to this since launch. If it costs real money, then I’m probably out of guild wars 2. I enjoy the game they have so far, but if they are changing their philosophy from fun to greed, then I can’t stay. I will stay long enough to see if you both are right or wrong and to see if the GW2 team take this feedback seriously. But I’m really concerned at the moment.

It’s not only about the pet. Many BM-Rangers run tripple signet. Heard something about passive signet effects buffs or wut? And on the top many cd decreases…
read the notes. the only signet with passive buff is signet of stone wich not many rangers even run i think. rest is some buff to the active part of the signets because rangers almost never used the actives to begin with.

why? you people just dont get it. if everyone just had a custom arena, there would be like 100000000000000000 available custom servers with weird rules and no one would put an effort into making a decent custom arena, plus custom arenas would rarely be full leading to boring matches and lack of interesting games to spectate. you guys just want everything handed to you on a plate.
and please don’t come with the “LoL has free CAs” argument, because you cant compares the cash shop LoL has with the Cash shop of gw2. LoL is far more a profitable game and can afford not carging money for CAs.

The CA’s costing gems opens up room for money making in spvp: imagine you rent an arena, if it gets popular and a of people use it you can put up a message that says “support me with gold so i can buy time tokens!” and then you can keep the profit for yourself. Also, it will make spvp profitable and worth putting resourses into, and (atleast i hope so) it will increase spvp developing speed.

All of them played ~~10 matches, got into the leaderboards and then stoped playing, and have been moving up and down ranks just by letting others play.
Theres really no reason to play better right now, i hop they get into that revamping rewards thing they mention in the sotg very soon, or else no specator/CA/shoutcasted tournament is gonna fix this.

I like how a warrior got “so far away” just with a dodge. And know comes the parth where you twist the fight to fit your example, you assume the warrior can outrun the ele while the ele ele has swiftness and the warrior is either backpeddling or strafing. So, the ele can perfectly catch up to the warrior a put some damage in, either with lightning lash(?) or whatever other ability.
Eles use Burning Foot to approach again (10% wasted, RtL and Burning Foot). War is good that he predict the skill coming, he dodge backward (0% wasted and 2 dodge being used). Eles still can not hit the War due to the range of Claw was too short.(…)Then Eles switch to Earth
I like how your ele doesnt use ring of fire (15 sec cd) and dragons breath(5 sec cd) and then switches to earth putting the whole fire attunement on 10 sec cd. Well if you’re not even using your skills right, yes you are not gonna do as much damage as you can. But even if your ele is not a good player and cant really manage your skills, in what world a warrior kites an ele that rtl’ed in his face, used burning foot while the ele is on swiftness with just 2 dodges while strafing?

This whole example is flawed and just bad play from the ele. First, you wouldnt need to cast magnetic grasp cuz in no way the warrior would have any distance from the ele. Second, even if the warrior somehow got away with some teleport hack and you used magnectic grasp, why would you use ring of earth and THEN knockdown? You would just waste the cripple from ring of earth (that you conveniently forgot to mention) while the warrior was knocked down. And i really doubt the warrior would have endurance by this time to dodge the CE, specially if you had hit the fumble from air. But even if the ele on the example is BAD, no way the warrior would get away from the ele.

Let me draw out a situation for you to understand. You say, one skill of yours equivalent to 20% ok, now it would be fair if we miss one skill we wasted 5% of our skill.
1vs1 Eles using Dagger and Warrior using Snife GS.
First, War spot Eles. He use his Auto attack to get 1 hit in. Eles realize he getting hit, and he spot War near. Eles uses RtL to approach him. (5%) while War (0%). War see RtL coming and he is good, he dodge backward (0% skill wasted), Eles miss (5% wasted and put on 40s CD). Since War is so far away, Eles can not use Lightning Lash to attack. So Eles change to Fire (RtL wasted and on 40s CD, 5%, and put Air Attunement on 10s CD). Meanwhile War still get some free shot at Eles ( 0% wasted). Eles use Burning Foot to approach again (10% wasted, RtL and Burning Foot). War is good that he predict the skill coming, he dodge backward (0% wasted and 2 dodge being used). Eles still can not hit the War due to the range of Claw was too short. More Free shot for War. (15%) + Free shot from War compare to your 20% skill wasted, I would take over 20% skill wasted + Free shot hit anytime.
Conjure GS, I believe that is what you are talking about. It take 2s to Cast and can not cast while Moving. The only reason Eles pull of the GS like you said is to run away which means Eles already out of option and that is the last resort. But being stay still while low health, any class can finish Eles in just 2s and there you go, Eles never get a chance to get away.
