setting the baseline, i was referring to the initial conversion rate that A.NET set arbitrarily. they set the initial value of the conversion rate.

real money patrons, i was referring to the people who buy gems using their credit cards/paypal.

the number of gold required to be converted to gem has to be higher than the number of gems required to be converted to gold because gold is essentially free/has no monetary value considering only the BLTC. the BLTC only sells gems so it is the Gems that has monetary equivalent. and to not insult the value of real money, it has to be made that gems should be able to get more gold compared to what we have now. and in my opinion the real money-> gold valuation of gold sellers are reasonable.

im not asking you to buy gold from gold sellers. im asking a.net to raise the conversion rate (by this less gems -> more gold unidirectional) , (and if its comparable to the gold sellers valuation, then i will be more happy to spend more money buying gems in bltc.)

I dont have to validate any of your rhetoric. There is one legitiamte seller of gems for real money … ANET. If you think the price is too high … dont buy from them. Why you claim rip-off on one hand and I spent 150 dollars on the other says it all. You have no ability to stand for what you believe. I would tell them its too high and still have 150 dollars.
My response to the OP was similar dont use an illegal gold seller to try and validate your position… man up and say it on your own. …. but too late like i said

i spent 210 dollars to be exact, 100 dollars of them buying gems and converting them all to gold. i didn’t mind about gold conversion rate at first because i want to support them and i don’t care. then i saw an advertisement from a gold seller selling 100g +5% for 50 dollars. then i had some thoughts.

im not regretting that i spent cash on bltc but there’s this devil’s advocate on the back of my head that “i maybe got ripped off.” but i don’t care really.

and you don’t have to forward my post. all is documented in this forums. i trust a.nets judgment. i bet you want me banned because i just think that gold sellers got the valuation right. this is a position, an opinion. freedom of speech, you want?

I stated the fact that this was not the case, that in fact the players controlled the gem->gold ratio. that is all

they set the baseline and that baseline is now manipulated by real money patrons. but that set baseline is too low. the valuation of gold based on its purchasing power in game directly insults the value of real money.

A legit player with a lot of gold that decides to sell gold is an illegal scum too.

Gold sellers are part of the market. the gold sellers know the right price for the gold because they know the value based on their easiness/hardness of gold acquisition. a.net just set it arbitrarily. i would trust the gold sellers valuation of gold. they’re not undercutting. they know the right price.

get into a guild together with a guild bank and do the trade there.

manlier skins often are not legendaries.

so if you are manly, dont get a legendary

player to player trading is often cause of/or facilitates duping.

The reserved names are from GW1, used in GW1 by anyone but unused in GW2 for 3 months… when they are released then yes potentially anyone could attain them but my names tend to be unusual so Ive had no problem securing my other characters names. I am waiting on a couple “main character” names to be released or I might not care so much myself.

To some players, a lot actually, a name is equivalent to your characters appearance if we put it in those terms… would you be happy playing an asura if you only like the norn appearance? or vice-versa? That’s like saying you should be content having your name be Ogrebreath when you really wanted to be called Mr Yeti, and knowing that your desired name is still available, and has been promised to be released any day now for 3 months…

The main point is this wouldn’t of been a problem if the GW2 team had kept their promise, a promise maybe they shouldn’t of made in the first place, but they did, and now we are just waiting for the completion of it.

I am only bringing to light a problem that many players are having so that the nice people at GW2 will not forget about us and the promise they made us long long ago

im not bitter. i wish i could get either the dreamer, kudzu or twilight but i can’t. but i could if bltc rates of real money to gems then to gold conversion will be equal to the rates of gold farmers.

anyway, a.net doesn’t take note of the easiness of gold acquisition for certain people on their black lion gold to gem conversion rate. if prices of an item goes to 400 gold, that means gold can easily be acquired and inflation rate is high. bltc has to keep up with the market, being the current market which include the gold sellers. if bltc conversion rate goes high, that means gold farmers/hoarders/sellers have to keep up and for sure there is a certain ceiling that gold can be acquired for a given day. if this is so, bltc can actually compete with potential gold sellers and will bring them out of business.

don’t be dumb comparing the situation to real life. this is selling virtual money. the quality of virtual money sold by bltc and gold sellers are the same. so comparing it to a kidney donor from a 3rd world country and a donor by your favorite hospital is dumb,

i had a comparison now. comparing guild wars 1 to guild wars 2.

Guild Wars 2 is better than Guild Wars 1.

marathon and cycling are linear sports. that means the mechanics is going from point a to point b.

i can see this as happening. they can sell a pvp pack with an access to black lion trading store and if players wish to upgrade to full, they’ll just buy the upgrade in black lion.

that is when GW2 PvP becomes known and viral.
