First you censor with the word kitten? Man you guys are so funny Legendary weapons only useable in PVE for the true PVP haters perhaps? Or, peace zones around the PVE objectives. Or, NPC to debuff campers.

But anyway, not the biggest issue imo. The point of a legendary weapons is to slap your ‘enemies’ (human) with it right? And have you seen the other requirements? World completion is the least of your problems. Also, why should a PVPer do all the PVE effort?

Because you bought a PvE game…?

I haven’t even done WvW yet and I am kind of more PvE than PvP. But where is it saying that this game is PvE only? It is a PvP/PvE MMO RPG. If PvErs can do everything only by doing the PvE world then why can’t a PvPer do everything by only doing WvW?

Also, a PvE legendary shouldn’t be useable in PvP. Else people will obtain it safely with PvE and then use it to be more powerful in PvP.

Dedicated thread for bots reporting.

@Player.9621 some more grind is necessary. Overal a casual player playing a hour or 2 can be 80 in one month of play. This is too fast. MOO fanatics where 80 in 2 weeks! Either there must be a reason to play in mid level areas or the XP needs to be decreased 6 fold or they already should start transforming the level of areas.

The midlevels are too easy and people endup too fast in endgame. Lowlevel people have to adjust to the game and go slow because of that, but after that people go 80 in a week or two. So that is why midlevel areas are desolated.

@InfiniteRetro You forget wars, everybody seem to forget wars. There are no wars in guild wars. No way of fighting your nemesis in epic battles

Well, all in all I like the game, a lot. Many things need to be fixed though. Many things from GW1 should be put in this GW.

Less QQ more pew pew was a quote by the way. Thought it was funny. Made me laugh. MMO communities can have lots of QQ, not everyone has the same opinion and you can’t satisfy everyone.

Think they made a big mistake by allowing such fast leveling. A big part of the mad is midlevel. But an average MMOer does these levels in a week. So, you end up with some people in the beginners areas (they have to learn the game a bit) and most people in the top level areas and 80% of the map remains unused. All the events there remain unplayed and the armors you craft for these levels are useless etc.

Honestly, the pvp in this game is the most balanced I ever seen. I don’t know about the latest versions of GW1. But there it used to have very little levels and very little improvement capability in weapons. The fun is to have the possibility to have some character improvement from PVE working in PVP, but not to the degree where it is only about equipment & level, like Lineage 2. Why do map completion and all the other stuff to get a legendary weapon if it doesn’t give you a tiny advantage in WvW.

The place needs some more safe zones. Omg the undead there don’t leave you alone. Sometimes you want to chat you know. Also, it has 1 event everybody is doing continuously. The rest is ignored, probably because the general mobs in this area are not stopping until ur death and the other events zones are hard to reach because of it. And also, many of the other hard to reach places don’t seem to have much event activity anyway. What is the respawn rate, I don’t know.

@Truga and @Pandemoniac: “Actually forced grouping also used to be something that’d create an opportunity for social interaction.” this is what I try to say (sorry for quoting like this but it doesnt work).

@Pandemoniac but a Guild is also a formal / forced group. You conquer something as a guild, you do an event or dungeon and you meet ‘friends’. I think it is pretty unlikely you meet someone in one of the many zerg events by just bla-ing to so of the randoms.

Didnt read anything about GvG in that link (am I wrong?) The game is called Guild WARS and the war option has been removed. Which kind of surprised me, as I thought it was core to GW1.

Also, that article brings the paid Arena as THE feature that needs to be in Guild Wars. I doubt there will be major interest as sPVP lacks goals that can improve your character or guild.

THE feature to bring (back) is Guild Halls and Guild Wars to defend them. And while your at it. Have instances where you fight to own the cities. It doesn’t have to give much benefit, just have the guild flag in the city would be cool.

Take sPVP, the free section, members of the same party are put on different sides. Is this a bug? Or design? If it is design then it is once again a part of this game favoring solo play.

People are shy yes, and people don’t work together if there is no shared effort that requires cooperation and that makes people meet.

Guardian is pretty good still. In other NC Soft games they used to always nerf into the ground 1 profession they deem imba. The ranger and the guardian are nerfed and now everybody will go for the warrior or thief, as it is a constant search for the most imba profession.

I love the guardian, I will always play it as my main, no matter how deep they stamp it in the ground.

I rarely see people grouped in this game, why is that? Do gamers this day in age just want to be left alone to do there own thing? I myself have a heck of a time finding people to play with.

Discuss.

Let’s look your question from the other side.
If people which you mentioned (we) were social, they would go to a bar or a friend or a movie to socialize with a “HUMANBEING” instead of playing an MMO game and roleplaying an unnatural character.
That’s just easy to see actually…

Yes and no, don’t always have time for that or, after a day of hard working, I feel more like gaming. Some people watch another episode of Friends, I open my PC and play a game.

Sure, not so easy though. It is more easy to start interacting because you have group goal. Anyway the community is pretty good, maybe the best I ever seen. If the OP asks us why are so little people social, then I ll tell him that the activities don’t require interaction (except dungeons) and it is like a solo game with NPCs.

Chatting in /p is no easier than chatting in /s.

And 2 un-grouped people at a heart or DE also have a shared goal. A group is not required for that.

Obviously a free spirit here :P Yes, but I am talking more about a group being a guild, squad or a constant party. These people in the field are randoms in the same area, after the event you forget about each other and maybe you say thanks for the revive.

Unless you party with this random and / or you talk, otherwise it is very different. In a guild you ll party with the same people, you get to know them, you speak to them on TS. Thats social interaction, making jokes, becoming friends. Otherwise why not play a solo game, very often the graphics is much better and the story more intense.

You can talk without being in a group.

Comparing no group & no chat with group & chat will obviously be different. But what about no group & chat vs. group & chat?

Now the only difference is the blue dot on your map, the addition of an extra healthbar and a different colour chat channel.

No open world content requires grouping.
There is no reason to group, other than assembling for a dungeon run.

Well…. Yes. That’s one of the key points of GW2. You can interact with your fellow players in a social manner without having a gun against your head that is forcing you to formally group (as is common in other MMOs due to how their AoE Buffing and Loot Drop mechanics work). I’m playing GW2 for exactly this reason. There is a social aspect of creating spontaneous combos with your nearby players. The same goes for my ability to Revive any player I can find (which seems to really help the community spirit of this game).

I know that other people come from MMOs that are based on making formal groups. However I don’t see that system as a positive thing. It creates a culture of Us vs Them, which leads to social cliques and elitism. Yes, having your own personal loot drops in GW2 would mean that it wouldn’t ever get as bad as a “traditional” MMO. Yet it seems that ArenaNet has a similar point of view as my own when you look at how they designed GW2.

Sure, nice thing is that you can play it as you want. Doing a combo has nothing to do with social interaction. Talking with people and getting to know one another, that is social interaction. Nice thing about GW2 is that you are not forced into any of this, but loyalty to the social group is often the thing that keeps people playing the game far after the end-game has been reached.

If fighting alongside someone outside of a group isn’t social interaction then nor is fighting alongside someone in a group.

There is no difference except his health is now on the left of your screen.

I know other games where they temp ban the buyer and strip him of his armor & weapon. Why not trap the buyers and temp ban them. Better, why not make gold account bound, wouldn’t that solve the problem?

Doing the same RB with a character who happend to walk in the same area is not social interaction.

It is all linked together, people complain about the endgame because people grouping in actual formal groups, e.g., party, guilds or squads, gives the “us and them” feeling and the possibility to score as a group. This keeps people in a game for years even after they run through all content within the first month after release. Groups need things to collect and own and achieve by doing group activities.

The game stimulates kind behavior, but not social behavior. In the beginning there where many problems with parties, with overflow servers, joining stories and dungeons. This indicates that they didn’t have the social aspects of MMORPG high on their list. Don’t get me wrong, I love the game and I want it to be a big success.

Many of my friends choose Whisperer and unfortunately the personal story is not different at all. Joining your friends personal story will never make you see something new. You’ ll end up either not seeing your own character talk or doing the same exact story again.

Guild Halls

The guild hall is very important, it was the best feature in GW1. There is a home instance, but it is not clear which home is yours. If you start out as a lord or as a begger should make a difference for your house.

But back on the subject. Guild Wars 2 misses a solid link to the guild. There are no things to achieve as a guild. There is influence, but it doesn’t require you to do anything with your guild members. There is no war between guilds (which is funny given the name) and so you won’t form much connection between guild members except for some chat. Like the strong seperation between PVE and PVP, don’t like that PVP without goal and seperated from the guild.

Why Level 80? (Why not 100?)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: beren.6048

beren.6048

Its not the number that is important. They made it 80, but it is so easy that even standing close to an event location you’ll go cap within a month. They should slow down leveling 10 fold, especially such that your crafting level can match up with your level.

So many people complain about endgame, the endgame material is really good. But people reach endgame too fast and see too little midgame.

@VendettaDFA:
Bots could even drop loot after they’re killed, everything that was farmed.
It would be called PvB(Player vs Bot). Speciall feature, unique to GW2…
How that can be a bad idea?

No, in fact in most games exactly the opposite will happen. Bot and RMT users will get powerful quickly and they ll just stand outside of towns killing people because they have nothing better to do (after quickly botting to the top). Lineage 2 used to have people drop stuff and high level people would stand out of town and kill new people like mobs. Fair pvp that is unique to GW2 (more or less).

Going easy on botters because of complains that destroys the game. Anyway GW is so easy that I don’t understand why anybody would want to bot. Everything is so balanced that equipment or level doesn’t really make a difference in PVP and the thats why most people bot, to be the superman in PVP.

Most people want to bot to make money.

Real life money.

Players will use bots to assist their gameplay no denying that. That’s not the real problem.

You know what RMT is right?

Yes, ok probably here it is mostly RMT, but more gold gives better equip and this gives more power. And, then again, why do RMT in this game. Everything is already so easy and even if you want, you can still buy better safe via gems instead of some obscure RMT who steals your account.

I believe the AC Explorable Dungeon was too hard to complete. Don’t know which path we choose. But the mobs kept on spawning and it was really impossible to destroy the holes in the ground in time. I can imagine that many people just break off this dungeon. After several hours of retrying people need sleep you know.
