Henge of Denravi Alliance with Stormbluff Unacceptable

There’s no question that HoD is colluding with Stormbluff. They’re both currently working together to take out shad in green borderlands.

Not cheating. Just weaksauce. A serious game flaw imo. (Yes I’m aware this was intentional. That’s what separates a design flaw from a defect.)

So let me get this straight Shad is your only keep on the map and you don’t expect to be pushed off. Now that is funny. You are right we should just leave you poor souls alone and leave the map so you can have all our stuff. Would that make the pain go away for you? Tell me where the bad invader touched you.

I think its hilareous that JQ is the only server that QQ’s when they lose and obviously noone is better than them unless they double team.

Here is my advice to JQ, give up throw the match for a month then you will be the bottom bracket and you can win with your oh so uber elite skills.

Grow up and learn to play and stop whining when you lose.

You dumb? The reason we had one keep is that Henge and Shadow colluded to cut off supplies in both directions. That’s what I’m complaining about.

Please deny it. Please deny that both servers coordinated an attack. You can’t? Figures.

And I can tell by your reaction that you’re frustrated with the way JQ has been handing you yourkitten since we organized. I guess I can’t blame you for seeking help from another server.

How to farm Armored Scale?

is it possible to upgrade from large scale with the mystic forge?

Yes it is possible to transmute large scales into armored scales. You would need a total of 50 Large Scales, 5 of the tier 6 Dust (forgot the exact name), 5 Philosopher Stones and 1 Armored scale. Then combine them all in the mystic forge. This will generate a random number of Armored Scales. I use this to transmute Potent Bloods into Powerful and it usually gives me a number around 10-15. Not sure what determines the amount you get though. But you could use this recipe for most of the fine crafting materials and also ores, cloths and etc.

Terrible advice..

I just did this and got 5 scales. Nobody listen to this person.

Crafting Question: Why Would Anyone Make A Satchel?

blink.4239

1. You don’t have to experiment to discover the satchel. It’s a recipe.
2. Not all experiments cost 33 gold.

1. You DO have to experiment (or look up in a guide) to discover the recipe itself. The recipe is created at the mystic forge; you don’t just automatically get it and no vendor sells it (that I know of).

2. That’s right. And the one we were talking about is one of those that doesn’t require 33g. It may cost that much to make the satchel, but not to discover the recipe itself, which is what Cathgar was talking about.

I wouldn’t waste 50 coins without researching either.

Here’s my situation. I’m level 80 with 400 artificing and tailoring. I’m looking to make myself the gossamer gear and maybe the ancient wood staff and scepter. The question is, should I prioritize one stat or go for a balance? For instance, should I make all berserker gear (power/vit/%crit) and go glass cannon?

Same question w/r/t runes. Should I get the rune of the elementalist or divinity for balance?

As for my playstyle, I intend to mix both PVE, PVP and WvW. I imagine this is material to the selection.

Crafting Question: Why Would Anyone Make A Satchel?

blink.4239

At no point were you and I discussing the OP. You responded to a reply; I responded to that. You’ll get no argument out of me that actually making the satchel would be foolhardy as you can clearly see the material requirements AFTER you’ve bought the recipe, but that’s not what he was talking about.

Experimenting with recipes at the forge is fun; it’s part of the game. How would we even have the the information that people are supposed to research if nobody is willing to try anything?

1. You don’t have to experiment to discover the satchel. It’s a recipe.
2. Not all experiments cost 33 gold.

Crafting Question: Why Would Anyone Make A Satchel?

blink.4239

There’s a difference between trying an instance for the first time without researching it and blowing 33 gold worth of resources on a craftable item.

A) Doesn’t negate the point. Some people want to explore/experiment on their own; following someone else’s guide cheapens the experience.

And my point was that researching expensive parts of the game isn’t the same as researching every part of the game.

B) 33 gold!? If you spent 33g on a satchel recipe you are doing it very VERY wrong. Unless you mean that’s the cost of actually making the satchel, but that’s a different matter. Once you have the recipe you can see for yourself that it takes nearly twice the mats to make a set so if you still make one at that point I’d say the extra cost is an idiot/lazy tax.

1. 33 gold is the actual cost. That was conveyed in the OP. However, market prices for the mats have gone down a bit since the OP. I’d say it’s close to 30g now.
2. Yes. If you spend 33 gold you are doing it very wrong because your instincts should have told you to research first.
3. People probably thought that it’d have some bonus to it. That’s why I created this thread to ask why anyone would make a satchel. As arenanet has answered, it was a glitch.

Crafting Question: Why Would Anyone Make A Satchel?

blink.4239

Wasted 50 mystic coins, gold etc on making a satchel recipe. Only to find it was hugely cheaper to make the items individualy after you take into account the required resources + the cost of the recipe.
Also, I didn’t really understand that you would end up with a recipe rather than an actual satchel.

Anet (Andrew McLeod) have said they will look at this, but it’s a bit late for the ones that have already wasted the resources on the recipes for satchels and then made the items individualy due the the higher costs using the satchel recipe.

TBF, you probably should have researched it first. But you have my sympathies.

Should that be the attitude we take for the whole game? Try nothing, explore nothing, never experiment, always consult a wiki, walk-through, or even watch it done on youtube before attempting anything?

Funny, there was a time when that was generally considered cheating. Now it’s expected. Kinda sad.

I want to know how many of you kittens that are having an easy time are running jewelcrafter? Any crafting class that requires insignias or inscriptions is kitten.

I run jeweler and it’s pretty easy considering discovering on jewler you only need 6 total of each gem to get all discoveries for that gem type and there are multiple gems per tier.

Not to mention the fact that jewelry is much cheaper to level than tailoring.

What is really ridiculous about this thread is how many people are knee-jerk responding without gaining any scope of context. For future posters, the OP is not complaining about how hard it is to level crafting in general, he’s stating that he’s finding it difficult to keep his crafting relative to his current character level. He’d like to produce product that he can use currently, not powerlevel his profession when he’s reached level cap.

Maybe you didn’t read this part:

Crafting needs a huge overhaul. The amount of time and gold that needs to be spent in order to level your crafting skills is ridiculous.

I not only read that, but I continued to read the posts by Big Boss.6248, and saw that he expanded this statements, hence my comment “knee-jerk”, as most people reacted to what you quoted, and not the several other posts.

But he’s clearly complaining about how hard it is to level crafting, despite whatever silly nuance his argument has about not being able to keep up crafting with leveling.

The hardest profession to level is tailoring because the mats are hardest to farm. Need convincing? Look at the auction prices of the highest level cloth (gossamer) and the highest level wood/metal (ancient wood log/orichalcum). It’s nearly 5 silver for a single gossamer scrap. An ancient wood log is like 1.4 silver. I don’t recall what orichalcum ore is worth, but its somewhere in between the cost of a gossamer scrap and an ancient wood log.

I have to disagree with everything said here. It’s all about discovering the highest possible items you can discover at a given time. That’s how you maximize experience gain. Moreover, many of the things you make you can sell at a 50% profit. Specifically the recipes that cost karma.

I had 5 gold at 118 tailoring on Sunday. I decided “to hell with it I’ll just buy the mats and see how far I can go.” At the end of the day I was at 400 tailoring with 1 gold +3.5 gold worth of stuff on the auction house.

Maybe you missed my other post but I ALWAYS make sure to use discovery mode while crafting.

Okay. Are you discovering things way below your level range? If you’re only gaining 1 level per discovery, you’re doing it wrong.

http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/12521-arenanet-andrew-mcleod-talks-crafting-in-gw2/page__st__450#entry599372 anet post linked to by the gw2wiki. We’re apparently supposed to be able to level crafting as I level my character by making items useful to me without having to craft a bunch of “junk,” I have been doing just the opposite though being forced to craft a bunch of “junk” and forced to go back and farm previous areas I have long since out leveled.

At this point after sinking hours into a crafting system that has returned nothing to me other than raising some level I’m about to say kitten it and just ignore crafting as a whole and only use gathering to get my daily.

Crafting Question: Why Would Anyone Make A Satchel?

Since the costs of the satchels generally outweigh making each piece individually, and that the recipe itself is expensive to obtain, there is currently no point in crafting satchels.

I guess my question was “why would the developers design the satchels to be significantly more expensive than crafting the pieces individually?” This seems like an unforgivable screw-up to me. I mean, really? How do you screw that up? What were they thinking making it that much more expensive?

When you’re leveling, its best to get a good mix of vitality and toughness to help you stay alive.

The real problem is when you’re 80 and the best craftable set bonuses (such as berserker) provide no toughness or vitality. You basically have to go full glass cannon if you want to take advantage of the 6 piece bonus. That’s kitteny IMO. I think there should be a middle ground other than wearing 4/6 DPS and 2/6 survivability gear. Perhaps including SOME toughness or vitaility in the berserker sets would solve the problem? What say you, arenanet?

I only see these being useful in the future for guilds to store sets of armor for members in the guild bank. There is no profit in crafting already, let alone while wasting all the extra mats to put the armor in a bag.

Isn’t the craftable gear generally better than the stuff the sets you can buy from Karma vendors in Orr?

Crafting Question: Why Would Anyone Make A Satchel?

blink.4239

Right now the bag of armor is for those who don’t understand discovery. With discovery you can make all 6 pieces in the bag for far less than the bag.

Okay. But I suppose my question was more directed at the developers. Why the hell would they make the satchel more expensive? You’d think it’d be slightly cheaper to make all 6 items at once. That’s just common sense. Why would they make it more expensive? Did they just underestimate the costs of the components of insignia?

Globs of Ectoplasm average 18-20 silver per
Vials of Powerful Blood (and other components at that level) cost 20-21 silver per
The cloth to make the insignia costs about 1 gold.

That’s where I get the ~ 3g estimate.

Crafting Question: Why Would Anyone Make A Satchel?

blink.4239

For those who don’t know, here’s what a satchel is. Each of the various crafting professions can make various sets of gear. By set, I mean armor that provides bonuses when equipping 2 or more from the same set. You can make a set 1 of 2ways: making each item of the set individually or making all of the items at once as a satchel (called a satchel because you literally take the items from a satchel, or bag, after creating them). However, for some odd reason, the cost of making a satchel seems to be significantly more expensive than making each piece of a set individuality. For instance, see a satchel of berserker’s exalted armor.

http://www.gw2db.com/recipes/11093-satchel-of-berserkers-exalted-armor

The ingredients are:
6X Cured Hardened Leather Squares
18 X Bolts of Gossamer
10X Spools of Gossamer Thread
11x Berserker’s Intricate Gossamer Insignia

For those who don’t know, the last component is the most expensive. It will cost ~3 gold just to make 1 of 11 berserker’s intricate gossamer insignia. And that’s to create a set containing 6 items. However, if you were to create the 6 items individually, it would only cost you 1 berserker’s intricate gossamer insignia per. That’s a difference of 5 insignias, or ~15 gold.

So why in hell would anyone make a satchel? Is it just that arenanet didn’t accurately predict how expensive insignias would become?
