Okay tough guy.
WvW Rule 96: When one random player hacks, it’s the entire servers fault.
Rule 97: When someone from your server hacks, but the rest of your server has class, stand down for a while.
Just curious to know how ET got two orbs last night. Did anyone see it?
Glass cannon ele v. glass cannon thief = thief comes up on top EVERY TIME because they simply have better survivability
Another day, another thread like this. Move a long, nothing to see.
You won’t find many threads like this in the elementalist forum.
And yes. Thieves have stupid burst.
I came in here expecting to get godwin’d. Leaving disappointed.
Although I am saddened by the orb hacking, I would like to remind JQ that last week people from their server did the same thing to HoD. They destroyed the altar at DB and it wasn’t repairable. We eventually got the orb back and moved it to Garrison.
Then they destroyed the altar at Garrison which wasn’t repairable… so our only choice was the let the orb reset up north to JQs altar. (SBI owned the eastern Keep.)Also last week we had a person on our team causing chaos whose name was Jade Quarry Spy (lol). And another person abusing resources and trying to cause a problem the entire time. Someone in chat asked if the person was from SBI or JQ and the person responded “ET actually” and we weren’t even matched with them at the time.
My guess is these are all acts of a small group of individuals trying to cause server drama and they might not have vested interests in any side. Basically I think they are trolling all 3 teams or they are recent transfers from less upstanding servers.
Having played matches in the past against SBI, JQ and ET I can say that the shenanigans just weren’t there before. So I believe that those servers as a whole are pretty upstanding, they have just inherited some dishonorable players.
The difference between your claim and ours is that only one of your orbs was allegedly stolen. All three of ours were stolen within minutes, suggesting a coordinated effort.
And other servers in your position had the class to stand down for an hour.
You got it. ET is a server not the individual you and a few others say hacked early in the a.m.
But you all benefited from it. And then you had the nerve to lie and say JQ had 3 orbs AND said it was trolling to say otherwise.
ah, the stupidity found in game forums ^
Coming from the guy who says we shouldn’t even be able to criticize ET for hacking the orbs.
populations seem a bit off this week. makes me wonder how many fair weather players have decided that WvW just isnt for them anymore.
typically for the first 3-4 days of WvW theres a ton of people that cant wait to get in
Yeah. I guess ET quit the moment the realized that hacking the orb wouldn’t help them.
It’s funny how quiet it got in TS when ET cheated… Was such a good fight… and ET just had to cheat to try to win… You’ve almost demoralized us by cheating alone. And yet, we’re still kicking your teeth in. I pretty much hate ET more than HoD now. There’s no place for cheaters.
people act as if we enjoy having cheaters on our server. To be honest, whenever I hear about something like this it does bother me, and to now hear that it happened from someone (or an organised group) on ET, it quite frankly aggravates me, even if it gives me an advantage.
I am so comforted by the fact that it bothers and aggravates you.
It is possible to retain a little class even if your server has hackers. Other servers in your position have offered to stand down on the orb. But I doubt your regret is that sincere.
Class act. Let’s see if ET does the same in T1
Got screenshots
Which guild was it?
Currently in JQ borderlands: ET is attacking our only tower, while JQ is attacking our only supply camp. This has been going on for ever. Fun times on the HoD side of things.
Believe me. There’s no treaty between us. ET just used an exploit to bug-out one of our orbs for crying out loud.
I think it makes for more intuitive strategy when you have the option of pressuring one of your enemies to attack the other.
The data no more supports your theory that number of accounts transferring to spy would be statistically negligible.
SBI vs. Crystal Desert will be an interesting match. Which server can fit the most invulnerable trebs on the cliffs in their borderland?
The last data I saw had an overwhelming majority of transfers from servers with long queu times (generally from winning servers), to servers with short queu times (generally to losing servers). There are some people going to the winning servers, but the simple truth is the vast majority are not.
This is consistent with the theory that players in overpopulated servers are switching to servers against whom they are currently matched to spy on and sabotage them.
Came in here to read the trolling. There was plenty. Leaving very satisfied.
Grats to you OP. DB is a decent server. I know they’ll be kicking SBI’s butt next week.
Agreed. Otherwise people will quit when they’re losing, cause WvW is no fun when you’re losing and have no chance of turning it around. Individual incentives are key. Karma and badge gear are abject kitten incentives.
Too many variables.
I was bummed by the fact that ArenaNet screwed JQ out of three golems. But it pleases me to know that HOD wasted five golems (I think the sixth got away) trying to take bay.
No idea how to quote in this fine forum.
I will say one thing though, these arguments are somewhat absurd. Having to sweep an entire keep for one profession/class is beyond ludicrous
I stopped reading here because you’re wrong.
I love how people are so quick to defend the mesmer portal but won’t acknowledge the obvious rendering glitch, which is the biggest advantage that tactic offers. Once Anet fixes that glitch, the tactic will be far less useful.
Even with the render glitch you can counter this tactic. See that bright pink/purple circle on the ground? START AOE’ing it!. You’ll be suprised that you can damage those invisible enemies and wipe them pretty fast.
Even with snares, you won’t be able to keep those invisible people in the purple circle long enough to do any real aoe damage.
Make do with what you have till they fix things. In the mean time complaining in just about every thread wont do a kitten thing about it.
I’d rather make people feel bad for exploiting a flawed game mechanic and watch as they attempt to justify themselves. The best is when they reveal their insecurity by reporting your posts.
Maybe I’m wrong but I feel like last night JQ was definitely the one getting teamed on. xD
Not trying to be biased, but we had to defend one bay siege every 10 minutes for two hours. Often from both sides by both teams. xD
By that logic, HoD should suspect SBI and JQ of teaming up on them for the garrison a few nights back.
It doesn’t appear that anyone is teaming anyone this time around.
Again, you’re going on about data from only a month of gameplay. Short term results cannot predict long term. An example ingame was HoD vs. SBI vs. ET. HoD was losing in the first 3 days, but eventually pulled out a victory.
You can’t expect things to instantly happen.
This really doesn’t address my points. Unless you think Arenanet will find a way around them.
so after a portaling, all abilities go on CD for 5 seconds to let characters load?
Alternatively – all characters load right away and are able to use their spells/abilities right away. If this game can’t handle zerg fighting, it’s worthless.
Points are ONLY given for killing players, (siege weapons do not count). The reason they are only given for killing other players is because points you get for taking keeps are already focused on matching up the weekly servers. This is a separate system, that is intended to express a players skill in actual combat.
I stopped reading there. It’s not the place to be “rewarding” the “skill” of a players combat. This isn’t deathmatch where two zergs run at each other over and over. It’s designed not to promote that… I would hate to see players have additional advantages over others simply because they’ve played more. There should be a natural advantage because they’ve played more, and are better than others.
If after hundreds of hours of WvW, you still suck, then you shouldn’t beat a player who is better than you just because you have special traits for playing for hundreds of hours.
This is a good point. Skill is too subjective to qualify in this game.
Players on the screen aren’t that much of a strain on the graphic load. It’s their abilities that cause lag.
I love how people are so quick to defend the mesmer portal but won’t acknowledge the obvious rendering glitch, which is the biggest advantage that tactic offers. Once Anet fixes that glitch, the tactic will be far less useful.
What would you rather have? Immense graphics lag and frame rate drop from 40 people porting in then dieing? Or suddenly being aware of the invisible mob on top of you and dieing from it?
90 % of the time when I’ve portal dropped, I can’t see the bad guys. Quite a few of the times I run off AoE’ing nothing. I’d prefer invisible fights versus incredible graphics lag.
False dichotomy
Wait a minute, dragonbrand did it to Fort Aspenwood? Let me just go out here and say that not all of us cheat. I believe the same thing happened to us during our Jade Quarry matchup last week. I agree that anet needs to turn transfers off or enact a bigger cooldown to those who server transfer. It sucks but as it stands the current mechanic isn’t working.
Are you basing this off of anything other than the fact that JQ beat you?
For instance, this is currently happening to JQ by either SBI or HoD. We know this because there is a guild in our WvW that will consistently waste keep/tower supply on RAMS and arrow carts in completely useless places, and will stand around doing nothing when that tower/keep is under attack.
“no, stop trying to gain an advantage over new players just because you died more”
Almost makes no sense, please only reply with an actual thought. If you have nothing to say, simply don’t post.
“This is exactly the kind of crap this game was designed to avoid. No bonuses for grinding.”
Apparently you didn’t read anything I wrote, because I made it very clear that ‘grinding’ would not be a realistic way to progress. The amount of time played would have little effect with a system such as this. You would be rewarded for ‘playing’ and having fun. Everyone is rewarded.
Just because you say you aren’t proposing grinding doesn’t mean you aren’t proposing grinding.
And here come all the carebears who want a bland game that they can smash buttons in a zerg and win.
wut
With no progression after 80 this game will be a ghost town and then you can pve gates and yaks to your hearts content.
I agree with you there. But Arenanet explicitly designed this game to marginalize endgame progression. I doubt they are going to change that.
This is exactly the kind of crap this game was designed to avoid. No bonuses for grinding.
I love how people are so quick to defend the mesmer portal but won’t acknowledge the obvious rendering glitch, which is the biggest advantage that tactic offers. Once Anet fixes that glitch, the tactic will be far less useful.
Hey guys, why are you expecting perfect balance in servers a month after release?
Because it doesn’t look like it’s going to get any better; because the current disincentive of playing on an overpopulated server, long queues, isn’t disincentivizing people from playing on overpopulated servers for several reasons:
1. Better to wait and win.
2. The queues are easy to bypass anyway because they were improperly coded.
GW2J Vidcast: Nightcapping is Valid! Ritsuko of SYN and Marstar of ELTE
in WvW
Posted by: blink.4239
Yep. Nightcapping is valid. The real problem is server imbalance. But that’s Anet’s problem.
Please put a cap on how many people can use this ability. I just saw 40+ enemy players from Dragonbrand use it to portal past the walls into a keep in one of the borderlands. Sorry but tactics or not, this is way too over powered and needs to be looked at. Now we know how Dragonbrand works, they’re not very good players and use exploits to win any wvw matches. Kinda sad small minds can’t use real tactics and cower down to exploits like this.
The tactic is fine. The problem is the rendering glitch, which Dragonbrand refuses to acknowledge. If not for the rendering glitch, JQ would use it too. But we don’t believe in capitalizing on exploits. That’s why we didn’t use the exploit to take out the unreachable trebs on the cliffs of DB and CD borderlands.
LOL thieves have the easy life stop complaining. You have twice the burst and twice the survivability of an elementalist.
Blink your such a child. If you cant get over legit portal tactics then you need to go back to pve and stay out of WvW.
Yes. Exploiting rendering glitch = legit tactics. Thank you for correcting me there. I can tell you’re upset over that because you reported me.
And yes. They need to end free transfers asap.
(edited by blink.4239)
Arenanet will never agree to denying an account access to WvW for a full week. Unless you’re saying this will only apply to people who transfer from enemy servers.
Look for the lowest rank server. Win
Just limit transfers to every 2 weeks. Nobody will do this if they only get to transfer to the enemy team every other week.
Which server is the culprit?
If you’ll be a part of an well organized group, Mesmer has the best utilities. Thief is also pretty useful.
If your idea of “contribution” is shooting guys and collecting bags, then Elementalist/Ranger/Engineer or any class with good dps on long range would be efficient.
But if your idea of contribution is anything else and you happen to be an Elementalist you’re just plain kittened.
GW2 needs server caps like baseball needs salary caps.
In the interim, HoD will remain the New York Yankees of GW2.
I dont support dots on minimap.
War is based on deception. To decieve the enemy must have imperfect information.
Dots on the map is perfect information and should never be added.
Not that I think dots are a good idea or anything, but unless you’re The Rainman, red dots on a map aren’t going to provide better information.
Anet’s failure; not the people using it.
