Why not just roll a celestial shout heal warrior? More hps, more support, much more aoe heal, more dps, more tank, res banner, more support overall.
You don’t play warrior very much do you? This build and any variation of it would absolutely demolish any shout heal warrior in spvp or wvw. This is not up for debate as I play both classes and both builds and laugh in the face of a warrior that challenges my BM regen ranger.
I play warrior quite a bit, and BM regen ranger is a selfish build. It’s meant only for 1on1s. I’m referring to team support which is what the OP was talking about. What team support do you provide as a BM regen ranger again? If you want to duel people, go to the dueling arena, BM has no place in tPvP anymore.

Turn him into a female with total make over kit. You should like it way more even if she talks too much.

– very high swiftness uptime out of combat, near to permanent swiftness in combatYou can swap the Longbow out for a Greatsword if you want. I prefer Longbow for damage however. Greatsword’s Maul is hard to land and many of the attack skills are very telegraphed. Also, for escaping, the stealth from Longbow works wonders.
This is a good trade off from going full into marksmanship, but I would go for runes of strength + jungle stalker’s might, pretty good option since you’re constantly thinking about properly positioning yourself in battle and that’s what your pet will do for you.

While I do agree that shatter has a higher skill floor and a higher skill ceiling than PU power build. But I think people over blow the whole PU is for people with no skill thing. Stealth is op, but in the hands of a skilled player it can be that much more effective. So PU may have a low skill floor the skill ceiling is quite high imo.
How is there a skill ceiling on automated boon generation that makes you ridiculously overpowered? This is the problem with the playerbase and the same argument spirit rangers make. You summon a spirit and get boons automatically and body blockers and people call that skill. You can constantly rotate through a set of invis buttons and get boon automatically and people claim a high skill ceiling. Yes, the mesmer itself has a skill ceiling of some sort, but PU makes that skill ceiling so low it’s unbelievable. It literally limits you as a good player because no other class gets that amount of sustain, invis, protection, regen and aegis uptime in the entire game. Try playing shatter then play PU , it’s incomparable how much of a better player in general (not even with the class itself but with reaction time and aggressive timing and positioning) you need to be with shatter over PU. PU is best described as the Shadow arts of thieves for mesmers but contained into one GM trait as opposed to a full trait line for thieves. It’s viable, but both of those literally limit/keep you from getting better as a player.

Rangers have always been sub par. Our pets and our spirits, they were once OP and are the reason ranger got to be competitive.

shield bash being easy to dodge isnt the point, sometimes (well most of the time) theyre using shield bash in hope you’ll dodge it to burn a dodge. its a win win really.. you either need 2 dodges to succesfully dodge the 2nd part which is an evi following the shield bash. if you dont dodge shield bash you’re eating an evi. you need to endure or get a longbow blind off following the dodged shield bash or you can proc a stability off as he’s shield bashing (balanced stance etc). another idea is u can do is run with gs then dodge shield bash and whirlwind backwards through him as he’s performing evi, does decent amount of dmg, gap creates and avoids it all together then follow up with a gs 4 bladetrail to keep his distance.

Some of the steals are pretty overpowered and i only mean the duration in which the active steal lasts , not what the steal gives (ranger / warrior / mesmer), but thief as a whole is fine.

D/D. People usually fall off their chair, and say “no…no… no no! ~scream~” when they see this build, but it currently is among the best ways to make D/D work, SB is more or less the mainset though and pumps out high dmg in team fights, I’ve been using it a lot myself and I adore the high damage I can cause with D/D when I need to spike someone.

This is what I normally run with s/d-d/p. If you want to see potentially huge backstabs you run this.. But you should take improvisation not dagger training, don’t know why everyone always overlooks this amazing trait.

id run mesmer/engi/thief over ranger for solo roam. i do sometimes run with ranger still though and is fun. condi bunker builds tend to still be quite viable in solo roams.

Even ignoring that the issue with that is in the Perplexity runes, PU Mesmers? Really? What do they do to you, tickle you while you just run past them?
Of all the possibly powerful roles a Mesmer cannot play in WvW, PU provides exactly none. It’s a nice spec if your enemy is silly enough to try force 1v1 combat, sure. But then, who in their right mind does, when they can just come back with friends instead?
Do you honestly think adding this confusion trait will make them better in zerg play or tpvp which is what you’re implying that the PU role doesn’t fill (and i agree, it doesnt)? -40% condition food + consistent aoe condi clear from a zerg will make it useless anyway and tpvp it would have very little effect unless you’re running a shatter spec , in which case you wouldnt trait for the confusion. My point is, adding this confusion trait literally does nothing to open roles anywhere in the game EXCEPT trolling with a pu condi build or some random 1on1 condi spec in general.

sometimes don’t even work at all whether they’re moving or not, but i noticed the biggest reason is pulling the spirit out and then casting it almost immediately , it almost hardly ever goes off for some reason.
it’s a huge bug and really should be looked at atleast and fixed.

These are all 1on1 duel scenarios, game isnt even balanced around it. diamond skin and condi ele/ds ele is kitten where it matters in this game. zergs/tpvp/team scenarios… the moment that ele is below 90% hes done. in team fights its really easy to achieve that.
these 1on1 scenarios prove only one thing, that dueling in 1on1s means kitten when it comes to actual skill which is what most people try to boast about when they win said 1on1s. 1on1s are indeed fun but people simply dont realize that builds + stats > mechanics and skill in most cases in these situations in this game unless youre dueling with the same setups entirely and then you can compare but anything outside of that is meaningless really.

Yeah I tested it , it doesn’t work if you immediately pull out the spirit and cast it while moving. Sometimes also it simply won’t go off regardless, it’s extremely RNG though.

Difference between good thieves and bad thieves
Bad thieves: make a full compendium list of thief nerfs that’s been done over and over to show some sort of point in order to complain about how the class is bad now as compared to before.
Good thieves like sizer, magic toker, caed continue wrecking in top tier pvp and don’t complain at all. They just go with the flow and adapt.
Thieves still dominate in wvw since SA exists and good thieves still are a viable asset in top tier pvp. Why not stop complaining and just adapt/get good.
