6 eyes = Abaddon, or it used to but now there’s that Necro pet…
Hi Chris thanks for putting this thread together.
My top three things I would like improved/built upon/implemented would be:
1) More aesthetic options for our characters (new armour skins in particular)
2) Better, more meaningful time-sink content (deeper progression and/or rewards in correlation to how much time and effort one would put into X)
3) Conveying the short stories on the main site into the game somehow. I get that this would be hard to do without just having people stand there watching NPCs interact which each other but not us, but surely we can think of something.
Cheers
I thought it was pretty universally accepted that cash shops are fine if they’re purely cosmetic and not pay 2 win, now bam, 3 hair styles per character is outrageous and ANet must be talking out of their kitten .
You can buy the makeover thing for like 12 gold or something, it’s not even expensive, you don’t have to pay REAL money to get it, and even if you did it equals to like $3 or something, oh the horror!
Would you rather hair styles behind a pay wall or new utility skills behind a pay wall?
Maybe they never intended them to be in the game and you shouldn’t get your hopes up from stuff hidden in the official release?

Same thing here, now this is extremely unfair on people who haven’t bought an Infinite Retry Token, and how did this even make it out the door?
Just finished the World 2 TM! I have never felt so proud of having a weapon in this game before and i will respect these yellow items over legendaries as they require more personal skill to get!
Thank you once again, World 2 Zone 3 was wonderful and actually challenging. It had very few “BS” mechanics. (Not that i mind those mechanics.)
Exactly what I love about this patch. If I ever manage to beat World 2 TM I will rep a yellow weapon. I don’t like the staff, it doesn’t match my guy, but it beats my scythe staff that just says ‘I beat RNG’ and I’d rather a staff that says “I worked my butt off to get this and it was hard”
It’s hard to pitch how I feel about this since I feel a lot of people will just go “Stop making excuses, you just suck” but I’ve amassed a screen shot collection of me in Tribulation Mode, getting killed for the wrong things. I’m talking I’ll walk and turn to avoid spikes (avoiding them at the right place, like I always do) but the server thinks I kept walking that way and 2 seconds into my new direction I’ll see the spikes go off on the other way and I will die. Jumping onto rocks and stopping but the server thinks I went right into the lava, so on and so forth.
Can we make it so that if you’re the only person in the SAB instance, it doesn’t need to stream from the server or however these things work, so that ping is not an issue? People with dodgy connections have to stick it out for much longer compared to others since we’re getting killed for doing the level correctly, pretty much.
I feel the need to wave my kitten around for this one, since it was so hard to do, picked the focus I will work toward a yellow one, in due time..

Where are Tengus?
ArenaNet are not working on any additional races at this time:/ so probably 6 months to a year away but who really knows definitely not close though.
pop goes my dream, easy as that haha.
I find myself thinking I agree with this, as I’m trying to level up a new guy but every time I log on him I’m stuck thinking “I should really be doing those invasions for cash right now..” I’d do them on my new character if he had all the maps they were in / was upleveled to appropriate levels, but I’m missing out on too much stuff by playing him. Same has happened in the past with other events “Ooh, the Bazaar of Four Winds is only limited time” but that wasn’t so bad since my lowbie could participate in that stuff, only bad thing was I wanted it all done on my main for continuity reasons.
I’m aware this seems like a first world problem complaint too “There’s too much content I can’t do it all at once!” but I’d rather have a choice, not feel forced into the new stuff.
I’d hate to go to peoples birthdays who get presents, and promptly crack it when it’s not something they want.
“You got Jim this gift for his birthday, what makes you think I WANT IT?!”
Could of easily of gotten nothing at all.
Just don’t read the map chat, don’t see how you can’t take your eyes off of it, I have a hard enough time noticing people whisper me. Make the text smaller and remove the background and you’ll forget that talking is a feature in the game. No one is spoon feeding you this info, you can avoid it if you want. Not the devs fault you don’t have self control, sorry to sound rude.
I’d be a lot more confident in this if the living story stuff we’ve had so far have resembled expansion content quality in any way. Look at Southsun in comparison to the rest of the zones in the game; first implementation was so bare bones, and after 2 living story patches focusing on it, it STILL doesn’t have skill points/vistas/hearts, nor count toward map completion.
ArenaNet has stated that whatever that is/was, it was cancelled during production, and now means nothing.
I watch all his videos and I enjoy them, but often think he’s a bit off mark, this however, is extremely convincing, and hope it all goes like this, well close to this… Well, as epic as this.
I was surprised that he didn’t mention Anthony Ordon’s quote on the forums “Watch the skies…” as it ties directly into what he was saying towards the end.
They’re some of my favourite events, just because I don’t run them frequently or make forums praising them, doesn’t mean I didn’t like them. I think that’s a pretty poor response.
It felt incredibly strange to be punished for participating in their event.
Explain how you are being punished.
I knew someone would pick up on that, as I’m aware that punished isn’t exactly the right word to use, but surely you can see where I am coming from where people who didn’t participate were given the ability to make money out of that choice, while those who didn’t, didn’t. Considering the candidate that I backed didn’t win the election, I was rewarded with nothing but some achievement points and a mini if you can count that, but I didn’t even need to vote to get those.
It felt incredibly strange to be punished for participating in their event.
I would like to see prestige skins released through Karma considering what it is, and was dismayed when they turned Karma into “gamble for more gold” via Orrian Coffers.
Treat it like a new experience: If you have played other MMOs like World of Warcraft, abandon (almost) everything you know. Most new players go through a de-wowing upon playing Guild Wars for the first time, it’s quite different to what you’d be used to. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, community is EXTREMELY helpful and friendly.
Had the same staff skin since October (Scythe) the only other staff I could think of going for is The Crossing. 2 good stakitten in the one month and that’s it. Kinda disappointed, let’s get some interesting sticks, not just… Normal sticks.
Agreed I really enjoyed it, it was especially cool to talk to Rox and Braham and they recognize me and everything.
Only complaint is when the baddies appeared – surprise – Aetherblades, but it was interesting to see their leader (?) finally (I did not do the Aetherblade Retreat so I’m not sure if she appeared in there.)
It got me excited for the living story and seeing continuity was a good bonus too. Keep it up.
Can also confirm longer loading screens. They weren’t exactly short before either.
Achievements are quests if you look at them that way. You can go out and beat 100 events for your monthly right now if you want to, OR you can put that to the back of your mind, and play the game. Achievements will come to you if you just play, or you can grind them out like quests, if that’s what you WANT to do.
I tried to sympathize with you but I’m sorry, I can’t. Pressing 1 and then pressing W is not a puzzle. If you couldn’t make this jump due to lag, then I see your complaint, but this is in no way, shape, and/or form, a puzzle.
I’m getting the hint that you believe the skin will apply to your chestpiece. It applies to your back item, seen in the lower right of your Hero sheet.
Can’t wait for Half Life: Asura Edition
Every enemy requires the same strategy is my problem. I can think of two enemies where you might need to change things up, Dredge immune to blind and Embers immune to burn. That is it. Everything else has something you need to hit V for but nobody has a weakness or a certain strategy you need to apply to beat them.
I was hoping for a different story in Orr, but instead every risen I come across on my Necro, drop my staff skills then auto attack. Make them more susceptible to fire, so when I go into Orr I have to kit my gear out for Burning. This isn’t an ideal solution obviously, but make enemies diverse except the one case where the side effect of skill #5 wont work, but it’ll still deal damage so continue your spam session. Hope I’m making sense.
I only payed $200 to play Guild Wars 2 (Boxed collector’s, I think it was $200?) but on gems and whatnot, a fair bit, I usually limit myself to $10 / $20 a month so another hundred or so.
PLEASE fix the beard disappearance! For this glorious Norn armour, we want to show our glorious Norn beards please.
Don’t see why not if that’s how it works. Didn’t see them hand out Super Adventure Box skins/Halloween skins when they changed the way skins worked (able to be used in PvP)
I don’t think this is the event to celebrate 1 year of Guild Wars 2. Don’t forget this is releasing in the first week of August, 2 living story patches a month, there will be another before the Anniversary.
Queen Jennahs feet will be too dirty to attend her Jubilee and it will kick off the new Crafting changes mentioned in the blog, players having to pitch it to craft the perfect pair of shoes for Queen Jennah.
What about Skill Points? Are they counted as currency? You spend them at Miyani..
Well the Felblade is still a Greatsword, while these new Felblades are just swords. Plus I can’t say I’ve seen anyone use Felblade after the first month of the game.
I imagine it is intentional. It requires immense amount of skill to beat, countering out the casual activities introduced this patch (namely, Southsun Survival and Aspect Arena (awesome alliteration!)) so that ‘hardcore’ players have something they can boast about. You can continue to do Tier 1 2 and 3 without restrictions, the only thing you are missing out on is an achievement, and that doesn’t matter if you aren’t skilled enough to earn it anyway, since, look at the name of it. Achievement. (I have not been able to pass Tier 4, let alone Tier 3, so I’m not being ‘elitist’).
Some other nuggets of info on the site as well “Unprecedented huge game maps, expanded to cover a total area of ??114 square kilometers in the real world.” for example, pretty sure we haven’t heard that anywhere.
kitten it ArenaNet how come you’ve learnt lessons over the past 11 months instead of all on one day you fools! Now the game will never sell! Bias!
…What?
I don’t really have anything to add just saying I love what this updates done, fun seeing discussions in map chat and having healthy competition.
I think it’s a fair amount of points, if it was meant to be a prestige achievement. I was thinking maybe more AP should be awarded or maybe a title. Aspect Arena could get equal treatment of course. The points aren’t hard to get, but it is time consuming.
I don’t really know what I can tell you about this bug, I joined a game and I was never relieved of the immobilization
So, I’m not going to spoil anything but I’d like to take this opportunity to remind you guys that according to game lore, there was never a Canthan district. If you’ve done your research, you’ll know that the great collapse was formally an arts district.
Now you obviously know more than I do, but I distinctly remember reading something and it said that the Canthans rushed to make a home for themselves in Divinity’s Reach, making unstable buildings up high, and failed to check the land they built upon (it was unstable) so the earth gave way and the Canthans fell to their doom. This didn’t happen? Am I making it up?
It’s been almost 1 year and nothing bad has come from it yet. Judging from their blog post, they’re confident nothing ever will. People need to doom and gloom / complain about something, just ignore them and move on.
We need a Charr in Charrge around here!

It might sound silly but during the betas when I made a Necromancer, to pick the class I was least likely to play upon release so I didn’t get bored. When I went into Death Shroud for the first time and my guy said “I am Death incarnate!”, I thought it was the coolest thing and made my mind up on the spot.
Biggest reason that made me pick Necromancer to be honest. I felt him and the Mesmer simply had the most ‘personality’ out of all the professions. I usually play Warrior, but it was boring just doing basic attacks while Necros had all that black smokey stuff, and Mesmer clones were shattering around and had that signature noise, I don’t even know what it is.
Well I get my AP through doing different activities in the game. I’m sitting on 5k AP at the moment, but with this patch, I’d like to earn more chests, so I’m simply going to branch out and do things I otherwise wouldn’t have done. I’m not going to get a bunch of energy drinks and grind out 1,000 achievement points in one sitting, they will come when they will come, they’re not exactly elusive.
