So just to make sure this means that those of us who will be in the area at that time, but from other countries, shouldn’t apply?
please don’t add flailing to the green yellow and orange ones. on blue it can stay.
I think it’s fine, I’ve won the event twice now which I think is fine for just this short time after launch.
Yeah this blows, elite specs had a level of prestige to it, something to work towards, have mastered your character to get.
Now you can complete the old content and basically have it finished. Zzz.
Heart of Thorns is getting nerfed already? It was so nice having long term goals in the game, please don’t give in with absolutely everything. The elite specs were fine the way they were…
if you hate people who have alts, sure it was.
No, I think it’s fine for people with alts, it means they put significant time and effort into a particular character, and were rewarded for it. Even then, getting all the Hero Points a second time was made easier, since the Masteries are account bound, not character bound.
Ive put in the time thank you <3 fully mapping 14 characters was enough. I sure as hell wasnt going to do HOT 14 more times just to get a bunch of alternate skills(read, alternate) skills. They arent even “Elite” its just an alternate play style. Now though i have an interest in doing HOT on several other characters.
So you beat the base game and think you deserve all rewards in the expansion?

The new look is better I think, it displays relevant information, not whether you got characters to level 30. Though an option to change to the older view wouldn’t hurt.
This is childish, bombing review scores because you couldn’t read release info.
Why elite spec reqs DON'T need to be changed

1) But I and many people paid precisely to do that.
2) But I paid real money for it.
3) But I want to complete the maps with the elite spec. What should I do once I have it fully unlocked? Stand around and not caring for anything because I already did it?
4) The new content is designed to be harder than the core game, so switching a barely useful traitline with one that is not only fully leveled but also complementing my current build and available skills is nonsense. Of course people can technically use them, but you could also technically walk to work instead of drinving your car.
5) That point I do not even care about. It is a problem: people want to play the new classes, but instead of being able to do that and concentrate on the fun aspects of the game (story, new maps, events) they are forced to rush through, ruining every bit of exploration and immersion. I never expected to have my elite spec unlocked instantly, but through some kind of story or sidequest near the beginning of the new content. Needing 400 hero points, with 60 of them only just unlocking the ability to use a new weapon, is just to kitten much for something I and many other people paid 50 bucks to play as.
When you buy a Zelda game do you cry to Nintendo that you can’t go onto and complete the last dungeon, have all equipment, at the start of the game? Prerelease they marketed progression in this expansion to that of Zelda and Metroid, you knew what you were getting into.
Did you miss this line in your reading:

Stop skimming posts and making assumptions that fit your argument.
What? If you don’t want things used in an argument against you, don’t say them.

Yeah, no. You fail to see other’s PoV and thus to see facts.
“Optional work is not grind.” That’s very much true. However it is not optional, therefor a grind. Let me explain. Let’s assume you are a person like me and these dynamic events not high on your priority list. So what else to do? Plenty! Story: a huge drawing force for many players. Let’s do it! Oh, wait… it’s gated for no reason after the first. Fine, let’s get gliding even tho I don’t care about it. Done! Story time… and gated again. And again. And again. Fine. I’ll do something else.
This is true for the original 80 levels of the game… You need to gain EXP to unlock the further story steps. Maybe this game isn’t for you ?
It’s completely different from leveling 1-80. To level a character you could do so much to reach lv 80. You weren’t forced into do one thing. As /u/scoorps on reddit said :
“You could do PVP, WvW, solo PVE content, explore, do group PVE dynamic events, harvest, craft, story quests, or do dungeons to reach level 80. I had one character cover 20-odd levels off of nothing but crafting. …No one is actually upset they have to play the game to see the content. They’re kittened that the game’s done a complete 180 on design philosophy.”
So to play the Heart of Thorns content you need to do the Heart of Thorns content. I don’t see the problem.

I just hope ANet doesn’t only listen to the people complaining it’s taking too long. I got my elite spec today and I loved the adventure to get it, it was super fun!
All the time spent complaining on the forums and you could have gotten the hero points by now rofl
If you guys are this offended over a video game requiring you to commit 30 mins then I want your life
I’m loving having long term goals to work towards, it feels so good to play through the content getting more and more powerful as a Reaper.
Top notch expansion ANet
Both sides are at the point where they feel the same latency wise, but I’d recommend a US server, just because I seem to find more Aussies there.
My favourite is Mad King Thorn.
He has a cool back story and everything but to be honest I just really like his jokes.
I’d love to have some of that cat tail action on my Charr.
Can Royal Terrace get an activity NPC?
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

I got a one-time pass to the Captain’s Airship, and I thought I’d use it just to check it out, since I own a Royal Terrace pass.
When I got there, it looked like it served the same purpose, and why shouldn’kitten Only thing is, they had an activity NPC to access the daily activity, and we don’t have that in the Royal Terrace. Can we get one of those? Or is that a luxury only Captain’s Airship people can afford?

It eventually gets to 250 per tier, I think the exotic was 100. 250 for both ascended levels.
Go to the Shuttered Gate, they are there and doing their own thing to save themselves.
Skins and zergs in this patch. Anything else?

Once you craft the ascended piece, there are ascended items (Dynamic Assault Knight Power Core and Synergetic Assault Knight Power Core) which are combined with the Tempered Spinal Blades in the mystic forge to change its colour.
So to answer everybodys question, No, crafting the Tempered one will not set your colour to orange and be orange forever – the option to change it comes later.
Also having disabilities, discovering Taimi is like myself shot her right up there on my list of favourite characters. Having her use Scruffy as a means to do things she otherwise would not be able to do is also uplifting, and not unlike what Guild Wars does for me (though I don’t imagine anybody runs around as a man-lion fighting bad guys in the real world)
Thanks for this character ANet, and I look forward to what she and the other main living story characters get up to next!
If you stick to the game, with the nature of the living story and daily/monthly achievements, you will eventually get the set. Gives something to look forward to, sure it might take a couple of years but at least when you see a set it’ll be a pretty great sight to behold.
They really should announce this, since they revealed, or maybe let’s just say talked about, new/replacement game mechanics. I had no idea this was going on, or was going to go on, reminds me of the amateur days of posting patch notes on reddit opposed to their main site.
EDIT just going to say I cant comment on the quality of the content of the stream but if I had watched I dont think I’d have a problem with the devs laughing and having fun. These guys job isn’t normally like this and I could appreciate that they get run-of-the-mill devs to do these streams.

Game is pretty dead around this time (sucks for oceanic – prime time) but I wouldn’t say the whole thing is a ghost town. Try different times in the day, or different maps. There’s a reason the population list doesn’t say Low.
I knew this was going to be sit jumping, that was fantastic. I remember one of the devs saying it was their favourite bug, and they were upset that it was being fixed. Totally should put an option to have this “feature” enabled
Unsure if I should update my old post for a new question or make a new one so here’s comment #2
What was the reasoning behind the currency change? Humans 250 years ago were trading Platinum as their premium currency, with gold being their equivalent of cents. With the multiculturalism going on now, was this brought on to make it easier for all races to trade? The only race that this could be pinned on is the Charr, since Asura and Norn vendors in Eye of the North traded platinum, and Sylvari are far too young to have influenced such a change (in my eyes).
It wasn’t the server-wide outages, as it was 2-3 hours before they happened (when I ported into Caledon for the first time) but the different character thing, while Caledon was still taking a very long time to load, eventually worked. Thank you.
Hello during my last play session on my main character I warped to Falias Thorp Waypoint in Caledon Forest and the game was taking forever to load so I assumed there was a problem, so I ALT + F4’d then restarted the game.
It’s still taking forever to load, so long that the game disconnects me before the load can even finish. What do? Can’t lose my main.
It’s said that since a good year, maybe more, before Launch. Sorry.
Bit of a Lore/Gameplay question
With the recent clarification of the Calendar (365 days now over the old 360) What’s the deal with the in-game day/night cycle? Days in-game are over in 3 hours, so we should be passing by years extremely quickly, or is a day/night cycle not considered a full day in Tyria?
Hey all, this was an unintended change. This will be reverted back to the way it used to be in a future hotfix (but not today, sorry).
Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
It was also changed on Charr to show horns and ears. Will that be reverted?
EDIT: The Gas Mask has also undergone this change.

I think he’s on the right idea, but taking it too far. Yes, the story is still in its infancy and it’s not going to be great since ANet are still experimenting with this and learning through trial and error, but he’s saying Scarlet is fine, great even, it’s just the writing not doing her justice, which I disagree with.
Scarlet isn’t helping. The plot, even if done right, would still be repetitive and boring. I’m not that interested in the Joker, Harley Quinn, or any of those “clones” and Scarlet feels like the worst yet. Also, people bought this game for the Dragons, and while it could be debated they didn’t buy the game for the living story at launch, they expected dragon-based plot. Maybe it will turn to dragons soon, but so far it’s been a bit of a let down.
In summary, Scarlet is copping a lot of hate, but it’s not entirely undeserved. People don’t like her, and do not like her story, but he’s right, if they did Elder Dragons right off the bat (in the manner that the story has been so far), even MORE people would get annoyed and quit.
I have seen the word “Scarlet” more than any other word in the english language for the past however long, and I’m pretty positive that is not hyperbole. If you’re gonna have a main villain, cool. But every thing is Scarlet, and even if it’s not, people will go out and just say Scarlet because that’s what it’s become and what they’re used to: World of Scarlet Online. There’s no escape, it’s everywhere!
I would like if the Living Story could focus on separate things, say one week we’re doing something about the Mursaat coming back, then next patch, look out, Largos are doing something. Two or so patches later, back to the Mursaat. But of course, make these snippets meaty.
What worries me about that is though that comment from one of the devs who wanted Mursaat to be implemented during the Queen’s Jubilee somehow but said there just wasn’t enough time to do them justice. Patch cycle has not changed. Are we stuck with stories like “It was Scarlet again! She did -something of zero consequence-!” until the living story dies? I hope not.
I have a feeling it will be that Winged set, the crafting one.
Now that the Flamekissed armour set is being changed, can all future releases involving Scarlet have her wear the old set? It would be hilarious to see that for the first time and be like;
“It’s everything I’ve ever hated…”
Some armour that suited Charr (ragged look, bit like the clothing you see the NPCs wear) would be pretty swanky.
Yeah this release schedule is getting very ambitious, and at the same time out of hand more and more. I understand the new fractal is older than 14 days but with bugs as big as no way to revive during the new fractal, what is going on? It must be very hectic in the office for NOBODY to have played it.
I really like this game, but it’s going bad patch first, good patch second, back to bad patch, back to good. Please rethink some things, go back to the drawing board with some stuff. Bugged out content and (controversial) 10$ reskins are a bit iffy for ‘content patches’. Seeing the bug fixes is good though, seeing more of those for professions lately .
I’m gonna be honest this wouldn’t convince me to buy the game if I was on the edge but it was fun/funny, some people think that your MMO of choice is srs business and no fun allowed? Bit strange that they then go on to complain about things they don’t find fun but yeah OK.
Commander is in the game, you just haven’t figured out how to unlock them yet.
Like it or not, Gameplay trumps Lore. It just works as a mechanic (now that is debatable but, you know.)
Nothing but new stuff for the last 2 patches (maybe 3 I hardly remember) and one patch to really improve parts of the game, whelp, time to hit the forums.
This patch was needed, and was promised to Fractals players months ago, some stuff in here I can see them getting excited about. More permanent content too, isn’t that what all people want?
I think it would be a good idea to put cosmetic skins (Kasmeer’s Staff for example) in the Achievement panel alongside Zenith skins if you have purchased the skin with gems on your account.
I’ve accidentally lost a few of the things I have bought from there and there is no way to get them back, other than buying them again, and even that is problematic since they may have been retired.
Putting them in the Achievements panel would be helpful so you can generate the skin(s) whenever you like (since you paid premium for these it should not be a big ask) and for all your characters as well.
I don’t think this will be a problem since people can just transmute the skin over and over again anyway. Granted, that costs Stones, but paying to use an item you’ve already payed for is a bit low in my opinion.
This could work for Armour skins as well.
You ever been in a supermarket, and a parent buys the kid up front a lolly, so then the kid behind you kicks up a fuss and demands his parents buy him one too? Yeah..
