my pet is alive 90% of the time. Just keep it on passive unless you need it to attack.

I’m in no way a whiner about the ranger class, and while there are upsides to having our pet that I wouldn’t deny, my Warrior doesn’t have to keep his class ability on “passive” constantly hindering full DPS just so that he doesn’t lose the ability totally.

I think a lot of people that make the suggestion to keep the pet on passive (which I do myself) forget that dead or on passive you are bringing your DPS down substantially due to the way our class works.

Defiantly feels like a drop in speed in combat. My feeling was that it was meant to do this, if not then I think we have a bug.

In both real life and fantasy, shortbows were used for practice and small children at best. The only kind of bows used in combat were longbows/recurves/composite/compound bows.

Utter rubbish.

For a start, the length of a bow has nothing to do with if it’s a short or a longbow. It’s the string angle at full draw which defines a long or shortbow.

Both bows are capable of shooting as accurately and as powerfully as each other BUT it would take a better archer to achieve the same effect with a shortbow.

Shortbows were regularly used where longbows were impractical.

As for the ranger class, we need some work, some bug fixes, pet issues but the whine that we need a complete and total rebuild is pretty comical and isn’t going to happen.

Just wondering what others are using because I’m finding them both really useful in different situations and I can’t seem to pin myself down to one or the other.

Ranger Build 2013

I run a 0 30 30 5 5 build with Sword Dagger // Shortbow works pretty well

Same with my build which isn’t too different from yours. Sword, Dagger / Shortbow. Swapping to Longbow in WvW keep battles.

Maybe use the horn the odd time if I want to get somewhere alone.

Ranger Build 2013

Manekk’s build is the best to go for if you want to survive, it works because of our pet. It’s both the upside and downside to our class, the pet. They are pains but their damage isn’t related to our gear, so they still deal decent damage (birds in my case) but you’re highly survivable.

I run 0/30/30/10/0 but my build likely isn’t optimal and Manekk’s build likely works better in PVP but for WvW I personally find mine works better, many prefer glass cannon builds in WvW though.

As a side note, a lot of your survivability comes from dodging with vigour and gaining protection.

Hey all, I’ve not found any low level quivers and was wondering if I’m just not looking in the right place, I’ve not found any mention of low level quivers at all…

Seems to me like it possibly could be but I have no real experience with spirits, which I’m told are not very useful. I was wondering what others here felt…

Compared to some class issues those are really not anything to get so worked up over, we could use some fixes but Rangers are in a far worse place.

Greatsword Wars 2?

What exactly makes the greatsword mobile? If i think of mobile, i think of the sword.

Mobile Strikes is what makes it so mobile, both movement attacks break CC.

Thanks for your feedback (spelt right, no idea how I managed to misspell that in the title), I’ll take a look at your build.

I’m not dead set on Frenzy, it was more something that I arrived at. I like the great sword skin I found and I just found myself going down that route. I’ve played with the idea of a longbow/sword, shield build as well but couldn’t arrive at something I was happy with yet, I wanted to create a build that I knew I could fall back on while I experiment with my longbow build.

Thanks for the sigil advice, very useful with Fast Hands.

I’d like some feed back on my new build if anyone would care to share, happy to take criticism, I’m new to warrior and finding my feet.

Build is for PVP and WvW.

I didn’t want to go glasscannon so this is my compromise.
