ITT TC is delusional about how population changes wvw scores.
LOL!
I definitely think it’s better to keep your toughness up and your crit chance high with the shortbow for the reasons said here.
I moved from condition damage to pressision and then added in more power, dropping conditions and I’m pretty much power and pressision now. My next job is to bring up my crit chance over 50%, it’s clear I do better off the procts than I do with stacking power.

Am I the only one who likes being outnumbered because it provides a target-rich environment? Only problem is morale issues, some folks get a little too internetz, seriouz bizness out there (and a lot of folks don’t). Caveat: I am a terrible player and my guild is full of other terrible players who enjoy being terrible together and at no point do we claim to be part of any “special forces” other than those that ride the short bus.
No! Some of us love it, many of us on TC can’t wait to get back into T2 and made an extra push last night to make sure we had the points.
You never log into a T2 battle and wonder what there is to do, although I’m not sure I ever log in to relax either, heh.
That said though, it can suck and I totally understand why some get disheartened. Like I said, what can you say? It sucks.
(edited by capuchinseven.8395)
Honestly if you think you’re outnumbered here you’d have a heart attack if you saw T2.
This is funny. We’ve seen T2. Within the past 4 weeks, we’ve played every one of next weeks projected T2 matchup. You guys stand out against them, TBH. I expect that with BG moving up and SoS moving down, you will be at the top of the fight.
Seriously dude if you think 25 players beating on your garrison door is a zerg you should see (or rather sort of culling see and not see) 30+ outside your door and another 15 beating on your water gate while 15 more take your Bay.
I’m not bothered by much so that’s just me.
Wonderful, so no one is bothered. Next time you’re not bothered we can not bother having this conversation and both can go back to not loosing any sleep over it.
OH my goodness, we’ve been lololing about on low level alts all week to help even out the numbers advantage, get over your server shoulder chip, jesssh.
It’s really not a chip. It’s just an expression of how painful this week has been. From my experience, whenever we take something, we don’t have time to get the first upgrade built before there is an overwhelming number of TC there. I’ve been blaming it on coverage, but I wonder if there isn’t just a really strong serverwide cross-map responsiveness. Truthfully, I think that Mag has a lesson we can learn from that, both in how we play and in how we handle a server that plays like that. :-) In any event… The impression that a lot of us currently have of TC are the times that we’ve beaten more even odds, only to be rolled by larger odds later. Not that it makes you evil. It just makes the battles seriously distasteful.
I don’t know what to tell you man, we’ve all been there, it sucks. I feel for you, I say that in all honesty, it sucks. Is why I bow and salute when a valiant or decent fight is put up by an opponent server.
TC has often and regularly beaten T1 servers in fair or even disadvantaged fights, and we’ve also been caught with our pants down and lost a fight to every server we’ve faced at moments when we shouldn’t have lost or didn’t need to if we’d worked better. That same thing can be said for Maguuma.
It happens. And all I can say is suck it up. Many Mag’ came out of the gates with an attitude that they some how are all hardened special forces, better man per man than every T1 server on the block but just lacking in numbers.
And you know what? It’s crap, Mag’ have been no better or no worse man for man than any one else in T3 or above. You’ve been beaten hard in open field and you’ve also pushed us hard in open field and made us reconsider our attack.
BUT it does suck to be outnumbered and TC understand that, we’re outnumbered in every single match up bar this one which is why I will also bow and salute after a battle hard won.
Honestly if you think you’re outnumbered here you’d have a heart attack if you saw T2.
I’ve definitely seen them do it on Maguuma borderlands (or at least heard Xushin’s sexy voice talking about it). It’s pretty absurd to claim that people don’t know about it at this tier.
It’s not absurd, we don’t know the simplest tactics like stacking might. We’ve just never done that in our entire LIVES. We should spend more time in the game, you know, because it’s not possible that the reason you are on the forums is because you can’t currently play the game.
I want to spend my time stacking might.
While you’re at it, destory the oil before you build a Golem. It would make your sarcasm funnier for the reason you mean it to be, and not tragically comical.
DB have been a blast to play, and still get a lot of /bows and /waves from those of us stood on the vista of the north camp but Mag have been a sever of trash talking, group inviting excuse makers that seem to have a much higher views of themselves than their actual understanding of WvW would suggest.
No idea where the servers problem has come from, I had nothing but respect for both servers when we entered T3.
Nope, we’re never destroyed oil, we havent even built golems before. You’ve got us ALL figured out. Maguuma does not understand WvW at all, please lend us more information, sensei. I don’t really care what respect you have or didn’t have for Maguuma, no one does. If you’re going to respect a server because they /bow and /wave to you, that’s laughably silly. I wave at TC players all the time, I party with them and we chat the hours away. Despite all the mud you’re trying to sling there are people that enjoy Maguuma and it’s quirks. Some people that will add to trash talk, who cares?! Its a video game. If you’re going to be so upset at people to the point that you’re saying “I don’t have respect for (the people on it as a whole)” then you need to take a break.
Ah the old, “then you need to take a break”, come back.
I gave an opinion on the raised topic of Maguuma’s reputation for being boastful cry babies, if you don’t like it you can just ignore it.
I’ll keep on saluting and bowing at both servers and I’ll respect the players that bow and salute back, you thinking that’s silly seems like it gets to you more than me.
I guess I would have liked to do a fight club, but was ganked by 5-6 TC instead. Thanks for holding up your rep TC.
I’d be surprised to see any TC at a fight club. The population does not strike me as fond of fair fights. From what I’ve seen, all TC cares about is that they win, how they do it doesn’t matter.
OH my goodness, we’ve been lololing about on low level alts all week to help even out the numbers advantage, get over your server shoulder chip, jesssh.
thanks for the feedback. let me try to address.
- omnom is good. not like before, but i get 344 health every 2-3 second on average, which is nice on top of 1900 toughness.
Despite Warrior whine after the nerf I still think it’s probably one of the best foods, the only thing I run instead of it is a Plate of Truffle Steak if I’m running in a large group.
Omnom and Sigil of Blood work with each other, it’s worth trying but you’ll lose a little DPS from dropping Sigil of Fire.
Ha, everyone wants DB’s Oceanics.
Yeah they do, specially TC.
They’ve been trying so hard. They’ve been approaching every guild in DB. It’s funny.
Confused why you would think that’s funny, rather than common sense. Even if there was a 0.000000005% chance of it happening, as there is nothing to lose… why not?
It’s funny because they were trying to get NNK and TFV to transfer to TC. It wont happen.
Soo… someone just simply shouldn’t even ask? Meh, each to their own.
He is just trying to loftily discredit TC.
Aaahhhh. Penny dropped.
Ha, everyone wants DB’s Oceanics.
Yeah they do, specially TC.

YES! Maguuma, thank you for this, made my day
You are a quirky bunch, I like you!
Taking those out as I’m typing this.
Amazing fight those Mag who just held out at TCBL Hills! Sooo many ballistas and arrow carts, and that omega! Had fun trying to stay hidden and whittle away at your siege. Good job defending, definitely one of my favorite fights of the week.
This, thanks for the fight Mag, we threw out plenty of /bows and /salutes in the lord room after the battle ended.
Fight of the week that one.
turn auto-attack off (Ctrl+Right Click), and then just hit 1 to continue attack chain.. if you need to dodge stop hitting 1.
With auto-attack on you can find yourself glued to the opponent.
Which can have it’s benefit as well, I love hitting Hunters Call, then locking on with sword one and hitting a pet swap quickness and a fast bird F2 for a blender like burst down of a thief or alike.
Numbers everywhere.
So, thanks TC. :-)
No, thank you! Honestly had a blast fighting EB all week, hats off to you. It’s been said in our /t and mumble before, don’t underestimate DB, they will put up a decent fight.
(edited by capuchinseven.8395)
We took the foot of the pedal today and eased off a little. Magguma took advantage and flipped our way-pointed keeps and SM right before DB’s SEA’s showed up. Its rough trying to hold DB’s SEA crew without at least a t2/t2 keep with some supply to setup emergency siege.
Might have cost us the move to T2. I wasn’t online when we lost Hills and Garrison in TCBL so I dont know wtf happened.
Oh well, at least I’ll have something to take back when I’m home from work.
I’ve never played on a server better than TC in any game in 20 years of MMO gaming. Also an EU player.
Little in the way of egos, little in the way of hassles and drama, plenty of laughs and PvP.
(edited by capuchinseven.8395)

I don’t think I’ve ever seen TC stack for might… or have more than 20% of their zergs be level 80.
Some of us swapped to lower level alts, we thought it might help bring down the advantage we have if we ran some lower level characters and would equal a lot more fun for all of us that way.
No one wants an uneven fight simply because one server has a higher number of players. It’s not fun for any of us.
(edited by capuchinseven.8395)
Full knight’s is questionable as thieves can cut through 15k hp in no time. What changed my mind was pvt gear and the insane damage output compared to what im used to. It’s not a solo build. High vit and toughness is the only way to go if you dont have +healing. The high hp is a nice buffer and your group should have cond cleansing. If solo, confusion and bunker necros/rangers would probably be a problem. Have a look at my thread tomorrow we can talk about it.
I am considering getting a berserker sb. Survivability hasnt been an issue in a good group. With fury 66% crit is plenty imo.
Sounds like we landed around the same place with power builds, our stats fall about the same place if I put my points in the same place. I reached the same conclusion with conditions in WvW as you and just never wanted to give up utility for traps
Sounds like you will have less healing than me but a fair amount more health. Using TU really helps with lower healing, I might try adding more health like you and see how that goes.
I love runes of the thief as well. The flanking damage is great. As is sigil of fire.
Only class to give me trouble is PD thieves, but then that’s nothing new. I can still keep them running around after me if I don’t try and kill them and just worry about staying alive. Glass cannon backstabbing thieves are fun to kill.
(edited by capuchinseven.8395)
Slowly starting to settle my new shortbow power build into WvW and I’m pretty happy with it, I can sit with 2000 power and 40% crit and that’s before I put any points in either marksmanship or skirmishing. So that means I can have 2000 power, 40% crit in a BM build if I wanted and sit at round 600 healing, 1800 health and 1900 toughness.
Throw in a sigil of fire and I’m pretty happy.
Edit – sigil of generosity is great for roaming, kinda funny to see all your conditions jump back to the mez or necro.
(edited by capuchinseven.8395)
(what if F1 was both “attack” and “return!” that got toggled? What does that free up? Could F5 be a thing?).
I’d prefer that, F1 being attack and return. Then F3 can become a shout that we can select, rather than taking up a utility slot to do the most basic things like stay on a spot.
(edited by capuchinseven.8395)
Mag isn’t even close to the skills we have faced. I doubt you will get the response on the forums you are looking for. Most of us find these attacks rather funny.
This.
And the same can be said of lower tiers.
I agree. The only outlier is Mag.
Comical, your groups seem totally incapable of understanding even the simplest of tactics like might stacking.
Maybe if a few of you spent more time in game and less telling everyone how amazing you are on the forums you’d fair a little better.
I still like the Dodge from Ranger applying Aegis to its pet.
That’d fit with Ranger pretty good.
I like that as well actually. I like the idea of it a lot.
Whirl healing but my current team role in WvW has been running and scouting with a GS and a Horn so it’s been a while since I’ve done it.
We have several condition removal’s that can be used to remove conditions from us and others.
It has nothing to do with video games though.
I’m sorry I’m confused, who felt that correcting a spelling mistake on the internet was a useful way to reply to a discussion about video games? Then for some reason it’s strange that I would reply to that…?
That’s pretty funny. I think it’s best I drop out of this.
I think you’re the only person on TC who denies that you have more numbers than the servers you’re facing. Also, nice job decrying anecdotal* evidence while throwing out some of your own about something to do with arrows (?).
*The proper spelling.
LOL. First time in 6 months TC has ever outnumbered anything and apparently time has been altered and we’ve always outnumbered the servers we’re facing. Also apparently I’m a thief now.
I didn’t present anidcotal* evidence, I said I found something funny because of something I saw, I can see you’re grabbing at straws though so I’ll leave you to it.
*I’m sorry, please forgive me it’s my own fault English isn’t my first language, I’m ashamed to admit that I had to learn English, although it didn’t seem to hinder either of my masters degrees.
getting demolished by a very large zerg of players we feel better than has really broken a lot of people.
I even like fighting Ehmry Bay… but I don’t like fighting you, TC. Sorry.
There’s a reason TC has managed to fight off servers 3 times bigger than us on reset night and it’s not because we out number any T1 or T2 server.
Getting beaten by higher numbers is never fun. The number difference you see with us is no different than the difference in numbers we see against T1 servers. Suck, it, up.
Same old whining, different game. “We’re so skillful, you’re so zergy, blah blah”.
Both DB and Maguuma have been comical so far to be honest, “omg omg TC is T1 server with T8 skill lololol no skill I kill u 1v1, I kill u!” I’ve yet to actually find one of you that can kill me 1v1 by the way, in my WvW spec as well.
The same Mezma’s and Thieves running around in sPVP 1v1 specs, feeling superior to the big “bad zerg server” because 5 players in WvW builds can’t bring down the bunker spec thief.
And all the while this goes on we’re laughing our kitten off in mumble about the /emote spamming Mezma’ that has the inferiority complex,
The point of this post you ask? What you’re dealing with now is the very same thing we deal with in T2 every week over and over. You’re going to have to just suck it up and get on with it, if it wasn’t us it would be someone else. This is the game system we have, you’re always fighting the big bad wolf, get over it and suck it up. ANet are the ones that need to fix this, not TC.
That mesmer* was me! Glad you enjoyed it! Couldn’t do much else when there were 6 of you that were afraid to push on me or couldn’t kill me when I’d dive in for fun occasionally. Also, your comment on spvp specs shows you don’t really know much about spvp.
And I’ll second that I’ve found a lot of glass cannons on TC that don’t seem to know what to do in a small group or 1v1 fight. It’s nothing personal, buddy. I’m sure through the law of probability TC has a few competent players. I have no idea who you are though.
*The proper spelling.
No it wasn’t, I know the Mezma’* I was referring to and her server and spoke with her for some time. So yeah, no. Nothing personal taken, utterly comical that you assumed it was you though based on a single mention of a class, speaks massive volumes. Anything you say though buddy, you’re all special forces, Streets of Rage end game bosses and TC is a zerg server.
I would comment on “TC don’t seem to know what to do in a small group or 1v1 fight” but that comment made my day so I literally don’t want to ruin the purity of the moment. I probably wouldn’t find that so funny if I hadn’t counted 6 players so far trying the move left and right on the spot trick to avoid arrows that was patched out months ago.
Same old story in every PvP game, a faction/side under performs, blame it on numbers because their “skills” are leet, someone posts anidcotal evidence stories of how they beat the other side 5v1, and so on. I wonder which game that’ll be next time I see it.
I’ve had some great small fights so far, had a great 1v1 with a Guardian a few days ago, nothing but respect for many players on all 3 servers with plenty of bows all round. Of course, the “omg T1 sever, T8 skill, omg 1v1 me in wvw! bet you can’t bet you can’t! That proves we’re better at WvW” team need to learn to suck it up.
*lol care?
Oh cool I wake up and we’re outmanned in home BL. So much for interesting fights, just a bunch of zerglings huddling around their commander icon yet again.
It took us all day for someone to bother entering the map and popping an icon. So yeah, nice story their man! thumbs up
(edited by capuchinseven.8395)
Dude, slightly educate yourself on the class before you make statements of “facts”, honestly it’s getting tiring.
Post like this take away from issues and area’s that we actually DO have.
Dude, it`s you need educate yourself or just try to play WvW once, not by youtube, maybe you will know, that under immobilize skill even LR doesn`t move you away, you just evade damage but still stay at same place, next strikes kill you. In mass pvp 3-4 ppl shoot you in 1 sec. Stop write any crap here. If you didn`t yet, just go and whatch video in 1-st post, you will see how 3-4 enemy easely kill this “bunker” together. Theif would just run invisible in this situation and laugh. Or go and run your suicide scouting, I do not care.
Anything you say man.
lol, Rangers can move around the map with great speed. I wouldn’t say as fast as some others but the idea what we can’t run away is just dumb.
Oh, really? You mean 25% + to speed , lol? But.. hmm… after 1-st stricke it`s simply goes to 0% bonus… and.. wait… what then? LR->any kind of leap-> dodge->dodge-> but, wait, it stops easely by any immobilize skill? 2-3 sec. of stan or immobilize and you are dead. Cool. Did you ever try to escape from zerg? And you can`t be permanently invisible as thief, so… just kind of suicide. Ranger can be scout, but not for a long time.
Dude, slightly educate yourself on the class before you make statements of “facts”, honestly it’s getting tiring.
Post like this take away from issues and area’s that we actually DO have.
LR + SoH + sword + GS with reduced cooldowns is actually the best sustained mobility in the game. RTL and blink are more useful as twitch reactions.
I agree but as you said there are better reaction movements in the game so felt that claiming we’re the best was pushing it a little, but like you say we’re very fast around the map. Very.
with a few precise buffs to spirits, longbow and pets, the rangers could become valued in wvw.
I agree with this as well, it really wouldn’t take much to make us a valid WvW choice.
(edited by capuchinseven.8395)
Scouting for ranger? Interesting, but ranger can`t run away if he would find out enemy zerg, so it`s kind of suicide.
What?
lol, Rangers can move around the map with great speed. I wouldn’t say as fast as some others but the idea what we can’t run away is just dumb.
This isn’t our first rodeo or even our 6th since we fight a bubble T2 server every week (FA, Kain, TC).
Then you should have learnt your lesson by now, it’s not TC’s fault anymore than it’s FA or Kain or yours.
When a stronger server drops down or rises up, just makes for a rockier than normal week.
Welcome to what TC fights every week in T2.
However you have more players during certain hours so there are simply more unskilled players running around.
Rubbish.
We fight day and night outnumbered and outgunned and never have more players during certain hours, this is the first week in an age we’ve ever not had to fight like a crazy dog to keep our points up.
Get over the “we’re smaller but we’re still better complex”. Or don’t, no skin off my nose, but it won’t fix the problem that ANet needs to fix.
(edited by capuchinseven.8395)
There are many uses for a ranger in WvW, the issue is that it can be done better elsewhere and we’re weaker in team WvW than we are in sPVP for example.
Both DB and Maguuma have been comical so far to be honest, “omg omg TC is T1 server with T8 skill lololol no skill I kill u 1v1, I kill u!” I’ve yet to actually find one of you that can kill me 1v1 by the way, in my WvW spec as well.

Out of interest nerva, how much health do you have with your gear? Side note, just managed to get my power up to just short of 1800 with a little trait management.
thx for the idea btw =) how are you finding power working out vs. conditions? i use two traps and they do significant damage on multiple targets. power would only benefit single target dps with SB. i have shaman armor, so giving that up kills my healing, vitality and condition damage, all of which i need badly. healing = sustain, vitality = surviving burst. unfortunately, there isnt PVH gear in the game.
Most of my evidence is anecdotal right now but 1600 power seems about right for me, I’d love more but I just end up losing from elsewhere, like you said you lose from areas you need badly. Any chance I get I’m slightly lowering my condition damage and upping my power but I don’t like giving up all my condition damage for power yet and I think once I go over that 1600 mark I’ll loose too much condition damage and unlike Warriors who stack power and treat conditions as an extra, I think condition damage is still important to us.
Right now though I can get consistent 400+ crits over and over and still keep bleeds ticking for 80+ damage and because of those crits, Sigil of Earth and Sharpened Edges I have those bleeds running consistently. So, no huge hits but consistent fast hitting high damage.
One thing I have found useful after the nerf to Omnomberry Pies, I’ve made up a little with my lack of healing power in this build by testing out Mango Pies. Signet of the Wild with low healing is a 80ish point tick every second, Mango Pies do another 80ish point tick a second and I’m finding it pretty useful as you double the effectiveness of SoW. When I want to run without SoW I can still keep a background heal ticking, running Mango Pies alone.
I find Mango Pies much more useful than taking a healing power food.
(edited by capuchinseven.8395)
I agree with shortbow as a full condition ranger, you need to flank too much and get anything from it and it’s just more work than it needs to be, you have alittle more power than me but less condition, I’ve been adding more power and lowering my condition damage somewhat lately.
I agree on healing as well, 500 seems to be enough, 1000 is great but I proactively use TU which doesn’t gain much from healing anyway and your damage suffers a lot for such high healing.
I swap and change builds though, I can sit around 47-50% crit in a full BM build right now if I wanted.
Yeah with compassion training it should tick for more, I know it’s sometimes bugged but I’m seeing it constantly not working, I could be wrong but I think CT only works on the pet now, jumping back in to test.
I’m sure it used to tick for more than 133, right?
Actually he’s not..
Just so we’re clear, because you seem to get really worked up over this and seem very insistent that you’re right, auto attack and auto target were added into the game as an aid.
Most classes disable both or one of auto target and auto attack the same way people turn of traction control on a track, it’s an aid, nothing more and it will hold you back. It’s why in some areas you can turn off auto attack for one weapon set and leave it on for another.
Please, feel free to keep posting in bold, it’s a well known fact it makes you right.
(edited by capuchinseven.8395)
I think people are just seeing something not there to be honest, I’m not seeing any drop, maybe I’m just missing it though.
Ugh, if this turns into another stat race grind for PVP because gear means everything, I’ll probably be gone.
Comments like “culling hasn’t been fixed yet so it’s clear it will never ever be fixed” honestly make me weep for the logic and reasoning skills of future generations.
Could be wrong but you’re wrong, it’s just a UI bug which has been reported before.
3000 toughness and 3000 power? That’s pretty cool, are you sure you mean toughness and not armour?
no sir, really important to turn that off. sometimes i forget to deselect before Monarch’s Leap, which gets me killed.
I have that happen to me all the time.
Bloody hate that..
Heh, the worse one is when you do deselect but manage to target a wolf mob and end up with 4 wolves and your original target chasing you.
I tried it out on 8v8 spvp today. I don’t know why but nobody seemed to focus on me. I’ll try it out on 5v5 some more before tournaments. It was a lot of fun though.
I used s/d a/w. When you’re in s/d, how do you pump out consistent damage? Is it through conditions or sword 1?
Yes, the majority of the damage comes from the sword auto attack. Quickness from pet swap and QZ turns you into a blender of doom.
Love doing this, spoken about it many times myself, it’s like a heatseeker and your target just can’t get away from it, makes me laugh at the “omg sword is broken and it’s not my fault” posts.
Pets IMO are just a sustained DOT with unique skills, if you treat it like that instead of an EQ style pet I think you’ll enjoy it more.
Totally agree, but I still feel (as someone who’s argued that Rangers are no where near as bad as some make out) there can often be too much emphasis on our pets and what we do. I don’t think we should be dropping them but it would be nice to go to the bathroom and not feel like my hawk has to do everything for me.
Even when not using a BM build/DPS pet they are important to our DPS.
Other classes like warriors can remove conditions, we for some reason have to transfer to our pets. As well, I might add, as everyone else’s conditions if using our signet active.
(edited by capuchinseven.8395)
To the guy asking about which pet is the best against thieves:
Hands down the wolf for me because of fear. Last night I was smoking thieves because my pet was staying right on his heels as soon as he came out of stealth.
Wolf just has to be in the general area for fear to hit, so if you know he’s close to you just pop it. Gives them essentially a 3 second stun. Here is where paying attention pays off big.
If the thief breaks the stun of the fear(I know its not a real stun, but you know what I mean he can’t control anything) immediately entangle his kitten and break him down. If he doesn’t then break it then I was hitting 5 on SB, immediately followed by 4 and 2, that should give you a second to close in if you haven’t already. Now hit entagle if you have it, if its on CD then put down campfire and wait for the body to appear.
Fearing thieves has made them much easier to handle, even if you don’t get the kill it gives your evade CDs a chance to reup and heal.
Runes of the Grove are useful for that as well, adds in yet another root that they have to blow a cooldown to break. Plus it looks just like Entangle so the thief “omg you hacking wid 2 entangle” spam in sPvP /map is pretty comical.
It seems pretty dumb to be honest, everything we do seems to hinge on a pet to the point where they feel that even our condition removal should move the conditions to our pets.
I get some of it, but they seem to take it to a silly degree. We’re a pet class and I’m cool with that, our pets are important and I’m cool with that but does just about everything we do HAVE to hinge on our pet?
Give me videos and explain your video in-depth or you’re lying.
You didn’t watch his WvW videos?

They might be nice videos but to be honest in MOST (not all) of these videos the ranger is fighting unskilled or/and upscaled opponents, which is not that impressing but entertaining..
Precisely, most of the players could’ve just ran away but no! For whatever reason, they chose to stay and fight. Don’t get me wrong, this guy has good skills as a player.
Why I never bother with videos, it’s always the same responses.
