Yeah I’ve been having a great time with warhorn/scepter Ele learning the ins and outs of the traits, runes, utilities, etc. My other spvper is hammer & mace/ shield condi resistance boon viper Rev. The meta morons can be awful during games blaming you for losses. There’s a lot more to a loss then the variant of class you play.
I think the Ele needs some tweaking but not very much. Warhorn needs some tweaking since everyone says too clunky and slow. Heatsync only shares might when the tooltip says shares boons on you, at least fix the tool tip description.
Warrior 11k eviseration crits are a bit strong with the defense, crowd control, and mobility they have.
Rev is beast on the shiro staff spec but pretty hard to play.
Druid is really good this season not sure if too good.
Guardian seems ok to me for some reason. Burn guardians and bunker guardians are pretty nuts.
Thief, Necro, Mesmer, engie, seem pretty balanced.
10 vs 10 on Capricorn would be cool.
I was thinking rock solid for stomps so you can save overload cool downs. The signet of the earth is for rooting people. It helps a lot to set up bursts, and you get more toughness so win win. You are getting armor of the earth at 50percent from traits.
Those are definitely two places in the build you have flexibility and room to adjust to your own play style.

After much exploration this is my favorite build so far. It’s a good bruiser that has lots of flexibility and fun with overloads. I’m getting good defense and condi clear with the heal skill and the cantrips. I might even have too much condi clear, did I just say that o_O. I don’t feel like condi is viable right now with how op the resistance boon is.
I think it’s a bit over the top. Perhaps It can be changed from no condition damage to half damage?
Moa is fine. I couldn’t imagine Mesmer without it :s.
I’m having fun pug’ing sPvP with the Ele using Menders, Lyssa rune, and staff. I’m running water fire and tempest. There are definitely some hard counters you will run into. I’m deff having fun with it none the less. I never liked the cleric d/f Ele from last season.
+1 agreed we need this.
Staff 3 and 5 are hitting for 5k damage each to 5 people AOE, if not cleansed. Signet of spite is hitting for 6k plus if not Cleansed. This is damage without having life force at all so that’s the reason it’s front loaded. A spite build is much more back loaded as you need to get life force. Then when you build some life force, you have rs 4 hitting very hard on top of the 2k bleed AOE from weakening shroud. It just seems logical that reaper should be hybrid when many of the skills do condi and direct damage. This build is a good way to utilize that split damage which is useful for fighting different defensive builds.
Flesh Wurm is crucial for escape and and reengagement. Roman gladiators would engage and disengage in their battles. The ability to reestabilsh range is critical for necro without toughness, minions. Fights vs DH shrine when you can escape their trap.
This build is using staff 90 percent of the time since the build focuses on maximizing staff mark damage. The build focuses in on taking points and lots of aoe damage to soften up targets. You are actually ok at zero life force with this build because most of your damage is front loaded instead of back loaded like a spite build.
So after lots of time trying many builds this is a fun Staff, Great Sword build. The GS is mainly for finishing people off after they are down or when you can find a use for it in your play. This build accomplishes decent physical damage along with strong chill, and terror damage, couple with synergistic bleed and poison. Another caveat is that you aren’t stuck in shroud for all of your damage, where you end up being quite vulnerable.
Scepter may be a little better in this build so if you hate the GS , which you don’t really need, scepter is a good substitute.
This build is mainly for sPVP. I’m sure I’ve been causing lots of QQ with it. It’s very strong 1v1 and 1v2.
Accessory: Rampager
Rune: Rune of the Berserker for Power/Condi stats and 5 percent damage to both.
Sigils: Great sword uses, Sigil of Force for 5 percent more damage, and Sigil of Inteligence for guaranteed crits.
Staff, Sigil of Bursting and Sigil of Chilling for more cold damage.
Traits:
Reaper; Relentless Pursuit, Chilling Victory, Deathly Chill
Soul Reaping; Soul Marks, Fear of Death, Foot in the Grave
Curses; Chilling Darkness, Terror, Weakening Shroud
Utilities and Healing:
Consume Conditions
Signet of Spite
Signet of Locust
Flesh Wurm
Strategy of the build: Put up a Flesh Wurm first so that you can bounce in case a DH locks you in traps or you just need to get away to get some range. Use the staff Marks to weaken your targets, the marks will build up your life force and the AA also will. Close the gap with a dodge and then hit Reaper shroud, which casts Weakening shroud (weakness, and bleed), next you can hit your shroud 5 while you have stability, then you can hit your shroud 3 twice to proc terror, and then follow up with shroud 4 to poison.
This rotation is pretty much killing most people as they run away. If the targets are harder to deal with I’m usually hitting them with Signet of Spite first then doing the rotation to finish them. If they are still alive after the reaper you can hit them with your elite Shout chilled to the bone and then grave digger.
There may be room for optimization here, feel free to chime in.
Thanks, for reading, I tried to keep it short.

This is close to what I use, but using Strength sigils, Strength Rune and Rampager armor. Staff/Scepter.
Spite, Soul Reaping, Reaper
Signets, Flesh Wurm, Chilled to the Bone
Carrion, Nightmare, Scepter/Dagger, Staff
M’kay, no moar whining, lets stay constructive…
^^^ above is the build
You can rest assured Reaper is very strong sPVP, it shines in 1v2’s. If you get your build right you won’t be able to put it down. Best weapons are scepter, staff. See if you can figure out the rest. One last hint, Deathly chill and Shivers of Dread have buffed the kittennit out of staff. Scepter is just there for the extra aoe condis. Don’t forget about fleshy wurm. It pretty much gives you a free kill every 30 seconds in most 1v1.
Loving my Mighty-Spiteful-Soul-Stealing-Hybrid Reaper…
Carrion/Rampager hybrid necro alive and kicking.

Gs1 = 130 = D1 = 130
Gs2=170
Gs3=220
220 = what Gs1 & Gs2 should be.
The d1 skill has the same range as the Gs1 skill…….
The GS skill 1, 2, and 5 have ranges that are too low.
GS 1 and 2 should be 250 or so and GS 5 should be 900.
The range of 130 and 170 on GS 1 and 2 are way to low. The ranges need to be like 200+, it’s a great long sword off course?
Perplexity all day long.
Gotta say I love the new heart of thrones reaper update. My WVW build tonight was reaper without the great sword. I basically just took the death magic, curses, and reaper, then used staff and scepter like a terrormancer. Too bad vege pizza got nerfed (cries).
I have to say that condi/terrormancer got a nice buff with the reaper. Reaper 4 skill has a nice poison damage and the reaper chill dot along with the fear chills trait is great! Im a fairly new player with lots of cash to waste so I spent like 100 buying gold testing out different builds.
For WVW the chill terrormancer works really well. The new chill damage dot is nice.
