I can suggest you:
1 wait. When new leggendaries will come out (hope fast), probably hold leggendaries precursor’s price will slowly go down.
2 always put an offer on trading post; never buy items at their intended selling amount
3 don’t farm event or items if you’ve not yet farmed dugeon. dungeon reward>everything else rewards; excluding somekind of living
4 don’t expect to do a leggendarie easy or fast; it will be not.

I’ve already made 3 leggendaries, all races tier 3 armor, a lot of high price weapon and 3 ascended armor. Enjoy yourself and earn money!

If new legendaries come around you are going to need 2-3x more cash to finish your legendary, regardless if old or new. Expect the price of all T6 mats, globs, etc. to skyrocket. Its not a good advice to wait, T6 is not going anywhere but up.

talking about twilight..

This is almost impossible to get now if you have work/studies. A few months ago, it was definitely understandable to get one… but seriously..? The amount of Gold it needs compared to the amount of Gold a person makes daily is stupid. The price of dusk goes up 100 gold in 1 week?? After I spent weeks trying to get only 100 gold this happens. People are over pricing mats when the majority of the community doesn’t even have money to buy it.. You can’t even farm for the mats because they made it so hard to get. I spent 10 straight hours farming on my day off fighting Reefriders at southsun cove.. and i didn’t even get 1. To get this sword you need ~2300 gold in mats…………………… Please update the drop rate on those stupid mats. This is making me regret playing this game..

I’m definitely not going to spend 300 dollars and convert them into gems just for a precurser either…

I have finished my twilight (precursor was bought) on friday 04.04.2014. It took me 5+ months from the second I decided to go for it. How long are you working on yours?
By the way, I work full time and I attend school as well, currently in 3rd grade bachelor studies.

warriors have such an incredibly low risk/high reward ratio that if you can’t win duels with one you should probably stick to pve XD

when i play my obscenely OP warrior i like to stand there and dance while other classes attempt to break through the insane passive health regen.

Are you dueling underleveled quaggan calfs with puuuuu atacks that apply cute stacks?

Tier 6 materials such as ancient bone will rise just as the demand for legendaries rise as well. Since you need 8 full stacks of T6 mats in order to craft the legendary specific gifts.

If we could have anet through some more precursors into the world to balance out the prices that would be nice.

read upcoming patch notes on spvp reward changes, they include chance of pre’s.

Yeah, just like how loot chests, daily chests and enemy kills apparently have a ‘chance’ to drop a precursor. Haha… it’s 0%.

I have 3500 hours logged, extensive farming, dungeon speed running, wvw zerg busting, world bosses. Nothing. Out of my 4 legendaries, I got one precursor from the forge.

If you’re expecting the pvp rewards to give you a precursor, ever, you’re simply dreaming!

I have been playing at edge of the mists 2 days ago and our zerg flipped a kodan shieldbearer mob. It dropped a zap for me. Crazy stuff happens. Playing for 9 months, this was a second precursor I grasped. (First one, dusk, bought on TP for 680g buy order approx. a month ago).

I’d like to help, but I dont understand. When do you talk about “skills” do you mean “player skill or simply experience and what this experience allows you to do” or do you mean “skills, abillities that you unlock in the game by investing skill points”. Anyway, number 2 and 3 wouldnt make sense regardless of your answer. I think you should edit and clarify your post.

Racial abilities

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: cmud.5689

cmud.5689

Which races have nice abilities for a warrior or thief’?

All racial abillities in this game are irrelevant and do not serve a vital purpose. In fact, Anet specifically made them weaker in comparison to the normal skills so they do not shoe-in people playing a specific race / profession combo. But if you want to know….my charr warrior used "call warband support’’ 1x in the game in order to take away aggro from a contested waypoint in Orr.

People say this, but then they haven’t seen Norn racial elites with haste leap 5k units while invisible.

Some of the racial elites are just stupidly good. The sylvari entangle is a very reliable snare that has considerable power in the right situation, and Avatar of Grenth and Melandru both see some WvW use.

As far as thief goes, Warband support is slightly superior to Thieves guild in my opinion, but has a longer cooldown. The power lies in the NPCs summoned sometimes spamming Battle Roar while in combat. I’ve had them get 10 stacks of might on me alone before. Battle Roar isn’t bad, but that’s because the warrior shout is pretty decent. Shrapnel mine isn’t bad either, but generally Caltrops are better. (If you just get one or two caltrop stacks off, a shrapnel mine is superior, but Caltrops have the advantage of duration for stationary foes)

Honestly though, Thief is one of the harder ones to say a race has an advantage for. I would say Sylvari, because Grasping Vines is seriously powerful and gives thieves a very reliable snare. At least if you like roaming in WvW. However Become the Snow Leopard is pretty amazing on just about anyone for its stupid utility.

I dont know…. Using the leopard on Norn, what would be the purpose? I do agree you could use it in order to get from point A to B faster, but that is kind of it. Using the leap, etc. in actual combat would be terrible IMO. Correct me if I am wrong but dont you lose all weapon and utillity skills while in this form? Would you play a 240s cd elite that invalidates the rest of your abillities? I know I wouldnt and I actually never saw someone in PvE, Dungeons, WvW zerg, WvW roam to use it.

Do you think people will “gotta catch em all” and the demand will rise at first, than decline hard or simply decline and we will see a flat decrease of prices. I have a hard time to think about these as pricey as now since people will essentially have the option to re-use all and basically have more variaty available. Thoughts?

BUT, jumping puzzles could be easy renamed to “CAMERA PUZZLES GW2 edition” and it would be more accurate. Doing JP’s as a Charr, I had not idea where to jump on so many occasions its not even funny. Camera does react ridiculous on collision and shorter races have a huge advantage. Too bad I am not home, I could post some nice pics where I get kittened up by the camera…

Many players will find this topic uneccesary, irrelevant, or a threat to your income because you make a kitten ton selling precursors you are lucky enough to forge but I don’t care. I have been playing GW2 since early access (I was in beta too, but that doesn’t count) and I have forged 1000s of weapons, done countless dungeons, WvW, and events without a single precursor drop.

I feel like my account has a hex on it, some quirk in the coding that prevents nice things from being added to my loot table and I’m tired of it. It’s time to end the nonsensical RNG where legendary precursors are concerned.

Increasing the supply/ ease-up the way precursors are obtained will make the legendary weapon you are looking to craft cost even more than now…. Go ahead and calculate how much $$$ does it cost to obtain all the T6 mats, Globs, Clovers, gift-specific materials, etc, etc… Now imagine what will happen to the prices of ALL these materials when an influx of people desiring a legendary come around. I can’t prove it but I believe there is an account RNG conspiracy. {:-þ -LOL

Conspiracy? no. But there is a problem somewhere- I know of people who’ve gotten several prec’s in only a couple hundred forgings, and others who get none in over a thousand- I myself have gotten exactly one, somewhere between 2-3 hundred

I’m inclined to think A-Net kittened up somewhere in the rng code, and used account id as one of the seeds for the generator- that would explain why some accounts seem blessed or cursed with forge luck.

This is Exactly my point. At what point are those of us who’ve dropped LOADS of rares and even exos into the forge supposed to catch up with the luck train?

RNG = random number generator. And you described it. Now I seriously do not know whether you are looking for a meaningful way of obtaining pres or just hate on people who had more luck than you….

But that is exactly what the OP means and complains about….

You seem to be arguing an economic rationale for why it happens the way it does?

He’s talking about meaningful progression, taking meaningful steps towards acquisition, that can be difficult to acquire.

If the number crunchers can’t set up a system that incorporates that without blowing out the market then that’s their fault.

Why create a market for something that has nothing to do with playing the game? Where is the reward for being good at WvW or PvP for example?

There’s nothing legendary about RNG/gold grinding.

If this is the posed question, than yes. I agree that the way the system is incorporated is pure grind. The issue is that this ship has sadly passed. I am all in for people to get their legendaries…but seeing the scavenger hunt ending up on the drawboard yet again, I dont think meanigful progress will happen anytime soon. Sadly.

Still no Dueling?!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: cmud.5689

cmud.5689

Or you people are the vocal minority and the rest of the players really wants dueling.

The number of people crying to not add dueling vs. people wanting to duel does not matter.

Correct. What matters is people who want to duel can go to PVP and duel. There’s no need to add another feature when the neccessary framework is already there.

Duel servers exist for me to grief there!

You admit griefing in closed PvP arenas but somehow you would not grief in open world PvE areas. Makes sense.

Who said I would not try to grief there? ANet should design it so I can’t.

Now I feel really good about some of the examples I pointed out against PvE dueling in this thread, you embody it.

I embody the state of duel servers. Duel servers allow me to grief there by design, so I grief there. Dueling, if done correctly, wouldn’t allow me to grief there by design.

It will be a lesson for ANet to do it correctly so I can’t grief there.

Why are you guys even talking about griefing and dueling in the same sentence?

griefing refers to open world PvP where you are both flagged for PvP by design, where one person kills you repeated over and over.

You guys really have no idea what you are talking about lol.

Narrow sighted, much? Griefing refers to the following actually:

A griefer is a player in a multiplayer video game who deliberately irritates and harasses other players within the game, using aspects of the game in unintended ways. A griefer derives pleasure primarily or exclusively from the act of annoying other users, and as such is a particular nuisance in online gaming communities, since griefers often cannot be deterred by penalties related to in-game goals.

You dont need to kill someone repeatedly to grief my good man. But you can however, grief someone by taunting him/her in an unfavorable duel. You can grief ongoing matches but jumping in and laying down stealth on one of the contestents, you can grief them by luring aggro from the surrounding or whatnot.. just use your creativity, I am sure you can come up with better ideas.

Really? I was sure that so many are for dueling accoding to past forums posts.

That would be called tunnel vision You saw what you wanted.

As a lot of us do not want to be trolled. It’s as simple as that, no trolling. This game has enough ways to grieve players as it is. If you have ant’s in your pants that bad, then go into sPvP. If this game needs anything, it’s less trolling and more community.

So, you were the one with tunnel vision? I agree.

If you do not want to be trolled, then use /block. Should ANet remove gold because a bot bothered you about gold selling? Should ANet remove champions because someone bothered you about ruining the champ train?

sPvP is not a viable solution. I can invade other people’s room and disrupt their duel much more easily than two people using /duel in the PvE world.

If you have ants in your pants, don’t use duel function.

No. Anet bans the gold sellers.

Open world dueling is a basic function that needs to exist but doesn’t because a vocal minority of uninformed people who’ve blinded themselves to the reality of dueling systems because they’ve never participated in any is busy trying to deny people a game feature that would have literally no impact on anybody who chooses not to participate, and which lack of presence harms the pro-dueling community far more than the incredibly minor objections of the anti-dueling community would do to them.

In short, I feel you bro, but there’s too many dumb people out there.

Not sure about YOUR ignorance to call everybody who has a different opinion uninformed. But hey, here you go:

1.) the game is not balanced around 1v1. You are destined to lose in tons of matchups.
2.) its a feature that can be taken in a friendly manner, but trolls and immature people will just use it to ego-boost themselfs if they win or the challenged opponent refuses a duel.
3.) Pro dueling community can already do this, its called PvP and you are a click away.

1. Okay, so what?
2. Should ANet remove gold because some bots bothered me about gold selling?
3. Not even a solution. It is very griefable there.

sigh… really?

1.) The fact that the dueling is not balanced around 1v1 means that duels are invalidated by following factors: class vs. class balance (a Thief cannot lose against an ele), gear applies as well (someone who is 80 with 80 gear of random quality is not going to lose against someone who is upscaled on the map and uses gear 20 levels below his challengers)…I could go on but…do you actually do not understand?

2.) Gold sellers are banned upon report, your point is invalid. Or to put it in a different way, you point out a problem, but the problem has means to be solved within the game design. Try harder to put up a real example.

3.) Not sure what do you mean, but if you consider the PvP enviroment to be imba, griefable, broken, w/e…shouldnt anet focus on fixing pre-existing stuff rather than adding new features that are broken in the idea itself?

EDIT

…// My question is, why would a title make the accomplishment any more noteworthy to you, when you may even use another title or even ignore it?

By this logic, no achievement based title that is currently available / was available in GW2 would make any sense either. People like achievments, people like to show off, people actually go for them by this logic. The game awards you with titles for completing much less, a JP title is more than fitting.

Yup, I am no game economist but the business plan of Anet definitely leaves me stone cold in terms of willingness of making purchases. The biggest issue are the skins. One time use only, and than the option to remove the skin from the armor by some crystal nonsense….eeeh..no thanks. I will never make such a purchase, but Anet cant seriously drop this system off because they trapped themselves hard. If they release a new skin that would be re-usable for the same gem store price as a skin that doesn’t offer this, they would effectively troll a large amount of customers that cant re-use the skin. A good example was the molten pick vs. watchwork pick..people were kittened off. And if they release it and even increase the price…people might not buy in because, IMO, the gem store prices are very high for what they do.

Hi,

I recently tranfered to a different world and like many people out there, I have a personal guild in order to have access to a 50 item vault. Upon tranfering to my new world, I found my guild to be wiped to 0, no vault, no items in it worth 200+ gold, etc. I honestly expected this…BUT when I guessted back to my previous server, guild wiped as well…. that is just straight forward incovenient and ridiculous. If anything else, it would be appreciated to have some kind of in-game message for the guild-lead and only member to point this out.

Needless to say that I written to customer support and sorted things out (yaay), but its quite obvious, that the only work-around around this still is:
- stash 50 item slots to alts
- buy letters of commendation to dump in the new world
- wait for x time once the upgrades are finished
- dump items back to the vault

Thats just ughhh. Would it be possible to do just about anything in order to prevent this…keep guild privileges upon guessting, tranfer guild as well, charge freaking gems in order to save the time and effort lost..and required to get back on.

thnx

I honestly do not know what will the actual demand look a couple months post patch, but I noticed that there is currently not a single exotic mini on theTP sold for less than 1gold+. Magnus was going for 34s so I bought a couple to be on the save side. But I didnt do any real jump as I do not really understand the mini market. Perhaps some of the TP pro’s can give us some insight ^^ …pls?

Do you not have a legendary weapon yet?

I’ve player over 5k hours and didn’t get a legendary weapon, nor have any will or wish to work on one. Maybe when they will be something rare and legendary to have, not something every single next dude can simply get with a month of grinding, then I could consider working towards one.

a month of grinding

Teach me master….
Now. Please check the wiki and tell how it is even remotely possible to achieve this. Do you know the actual requirement? Do you know the price of dusk on the TP? Do you know how hard is it to grind karma post the nerf? I could go on…

Easy. I saw a guy that was playing a Charr – completely white fur, all of this armor was dyed white, not a single piece of his look was other color than white.
His name?

“Katze von Himmel” = “Cat from Heaven”

I bursted in laugh.

I am not buying any skin that cannot be re-used similar to the achievement tab skins. Not like its going to be changed, just a kind reminder that there are customers out there that wouldn’t mind cash-in, if not for this obviously greedy design decision. ta ta.

How to Best to Invest Money

You need to be careful though, a lot of stuff listened on the TP / spidy is completely unsellable for the prices you will see. For example, expecting that someone will pay 1+ gold for Sentinel’s Mithril Shield is just lol.
cheers.

I sold thousands of crafted rare lvl 80 sentinel greatswords for over 1g in the last year, while the crafting cost was less than 40 silver.

I meant the ‘’blue" sentil shield. Do you mean the sentinel’s rare version of the greatsword? I can see that, but the blue one? And if yes, how long was the sell order pending? thnx

I am by no means a cashmaster of the TP. I am currently sitting at 500g banked, approx. 150g in short term investment if I would sell now, and another 50slot bank fully stacked with ..stuff, that I hope will get me at least 200g in the future. So these are the things I do:

- flipping items on the TP. Regularly, daily, profitably. Here is an example of item flipping. I do not say “go and flip dyes” but this is how it works with everything:

- check gw2spidy for supply, demand, margin and craft the stuff you think will do well in terms of sales. Here an example: I checked spidy and found out the “mithril greatsword hilt” is demanded by 1700 orders while the supply was only 800. So there is definetely room to put in a couple extras. I also now that if I order all the stuff (WITH BUY ORDERS!!!) from the TP it will cost me say, 1.5 silver to craft one hilt. The sell price would be 3silver and if you account for the fees (15%), voila, 1.275 silver profit.

You need to be careful though, a lot of stuff listened on the TP / spidy is completely unsellable for the prices you will see. For example, expecting that someone will pay 1+ gold for Sentinel’s Mithril Shield is just lol.

cheers.

In general, trash mobs that can dish out an infinite amount of ridiculously long movement impairing conditions. Like everything in Orr (get chilled, crippled, stunned,…) and Hyena’s in Ascalon. (15+ second cripple…yeah..)

As a boss, I cant stand the “uber-bosses” like Tequatl and havent even tried Wurm. It’s just the nature of the fight and extremely long preps. you need to undertake to finally get in the fight and fail lol.

Platinum Ore

in Black Lion Trading Co

cmud.5689

It has nothing to do with any patch. There is a reason why platinum ore is much more useful than other ores, but you have to find out yourself. Anyway, due to this reason lots of players want it cheap. Looking at the price index you will notice small amounts being sold at lower prices than the rest. This is to persue players unaware of the real value to sell cheap. And it works! Looking at certain profits I would say that 1,75- 1.90 would be a realistic value to sell. But unfortunately lots of players start to sell for much lower prices due to above manipulation…

I can agree that this particular price spike might not be related to the ascended j-crafting discipline speculation, otherwise we would see gold, silver spike as well which did not happened. However, once the announcement comes live, I would expect silver, gold, platinum rise in price as these are known to be used in the xunlai electrum ingots.

I am not going in. I picked up one of them for the ticket but go ahead and check the prices of the Halloween skins, you wont be exactly satisfied. Since the skins are unlikely being removed from the store, there is no super-profit incoming. Also, the demand doesn’t amaze me either.
