Although I have no objection to the new +1 feature, I am confused as to why a new feature was added when basic functionality like Subscribe and Ignore still do not work. Can we get any update on when those features will be available? Also, will the ability to view our subscribed threads be added at some point in the future, presumably after the Subscribe feature is working?

I love the jumping puzzles, despite being really terrible at them. Several of the ones mentioned as being peoples’ favorites in this thread I simply cannot do – specifically Skipping Stones and Spekk’s Laboratory. Just don’t have the requisite eye/hand coordination. This is not a complaint! I have no problem with there being optional things in the game that I can’t achieve. And who know, maybe if I keep playing long enough I’ll improve enough to succeed.
Still have a great time with all the others, though. I have not done the Scavenger’s Chasm yet, but may tackle it this weekend. I believe it and Chaos Crystal Cavern are the only JP achievements I do not yet have, other than the aforementioned Skipping Stones and Spekk’s Lab ( And I’m currently pretending those don’t count. Because that’s how I roll. I maintain a 100% success rate at achievements cough inmymind cough by only choosing the ones I care to achieve. )

Searching has not found me my answer, so I bring the question here to you. Has there been any statement regarding whether or not Agony will ever be proliferated to other parts of the game, such as some open world zones or other dungeons? Or is the intent, so far, that it will be remaining unique to Fractals? Thanks!

So sad that I have to work Thursday night. I really hope somebody takes screen shots of the purple dragons carrying the helpless yaks off to feast on them in their evil purple lair. Or makes a video…and a song…That would be awesome. Also, dragons, careful of hairballs. Yaks are shaggy.

The lack of proper siege feng shui would have lost you another point if not for the presence of the asura Eek Kee. His name — clearly an onomatopoeia expressing shock and embarrassment — pairs well with his actions, as he rapidly averts his eyes away from your bare form.

I really hope in the future they add the “choose 4 out of 6” for the monthly as well as daily achievements.
Although I have nothing against the achievements as they are now, I actually do agree that this would be a big improvement. Looking forward to the addition of more choice.

I was pretty surprised to see how easily achievable it should be this month. If you hate dungeons I suppose you’re still SoL but then, I’m afraid I’m one of those annoying folks who think that if you don’t enjoy something in a game you probably just shouldn’t do it (unless, of course, there’s some tradeoff that makes it worth your time). Which I suppose is why I’ve only ever completed the monthly once since the game started.

4. Will TC run a dolyak parade, tea party, or some similar RP event for FA to try and ruin?
1. It was a picnic, not a tea party, come on now
2. I wouldn’t call standing around pressing buttons on fireworks while people danced around/costume brawled/chatted a form of roleplaying
Glad it’s not just me. Those events look like a great time and I wish I could attend more of them, but I’ve never really been too clear on why they’re called roleplaying events. Not that it matters, I guess; I just find it curious.
Anyway, looking forward to the new matchup. Nothing against SoR and SBI. In fact, I might even go so far as to say I’ll miss the Choo train! But change is always interesting and I’m eager to see what effect the reset has over the next few weeks.

NO
No reason they can’t add content without raising the level cap; they did it in GW1 with a much lower cap than 80. All raising it does is require people to upgrade their gear again, if they want to participate in the new max-level content.
EDIT: Actually, I’d like this too, I just don’t really see it as a ‘level increase.’ I just think it would be neat to know, even if the information wasn’t visible to other players. In fact, it might be preferable if it wasn’t.
YES! I want my level to be in accordance with how many times I’ve actually leveled (gained skill points) you can stop stat progression at 80-100-120 w/e it don’t matter to me, but I would like to know my actual level. That would be epic!

I’ve liked everything I’ve specifically looked at so far.
- The new dailies were fine, although I understand they are bugged now? Not sure what that is about. I finished the first set last night. I didn’t realize that the revive one would work on NPCs so I popped back into WvW before going to bed and sure enough, found an ally to rez.
- The cattlepult in Diessa was fixed! Got my last vista in PvE land, and now just need one in Eternal Battleground. Woot!
- Having an uncontested waypoint at the southern end of Cursed Shore may just be the best thing ever.
- I definitely noticed the increased gaps between the Risen in Cursed Shore and the Straits. I didn’t fight enough to really notice the CC changes, but just moving through the zone was definitely far less tedious than it had been previously.
- Ambivalent about the new achievements counter.
- The tooltips in the new attributes interface are much more helpful. I do think the ordering of attributes needs some work. I wondered why the attributes related to condition damage, for example, were not together. Same for critical damage, I think.
- Rendering in WvW – I only played for about an hour last night, but it did seem to be improved, in that enemies were actually rendering for me. It was a little weird sometimes seeing green names floating above invisible allies, but I’ll take that over thinking there are 5 enemies in front of me when there are, in fact, 30. That’s just an initial impression though, that could change with further testing.
- I did Arah, story mode. For me personally, I think they maybe toned it down a bit too much. I would have liked a happy medium between the original version and the current version. I feel like it lost a little bit of the epic feel that it had the first time I ran it. On the other hand, it’s much faster now which is a Good Thing for a lot of players, myself included. Overall, still quite enjoyable, for me.

No, you’re not alone, OP. It’s been suggested before. While I don’t agree with anything else you said, I do agree that the addition of a test or beta server that would allow players to pre-test new content and upcoming changes would be a great thing for the game. I used to participate in this from time to time in the last game I played, and there were numerous players who did so regularly and engaged in active interchanges with the developers on the forums and in game. Now that game, which is sadly gone now, was original subscription-only and even when it went to a tiered system, the beta server was restricted to paying customers only. Perhaps it’s just not something that can be done with a free-to-play game. But I, for one, think it would be significant benefit both to the players and developers a way could be found to make it work.

Hmm…you stop posting sexy score updates and the thread goes to the kittens. Coincidence?
“Worshipping nonsense and imagination” — Hayden Herrera (paraphrased)
meh. transfers, scoreboard, spawn camping, glicko rating. whatever. it doesn’t much matter to me. this is exactly the kind of match i’ve been hoping for, going all the way back to when i begged FA and YB to double team us. this is something TC’s needed for a long time. it’s these kinds of matches where people realize what’s important in WvW, and good habits start getting formed.
sure, people won’t be happy about it. players will fade away from WvW. some may even throw temper tantrums before the do. i don’t really mind. it’s all part of the process. we ended up basically developing zerg atrophy, so it’s only logical that it’ll be a bit painful while we work our way out of that.
where we end up, who are opponents are, what the score is. doesn’t matter. as long as we’re handling our own business the best we can, it’s all good. these kinds of matches are excellent learning opportunities. when those who have no interest in learning boil away, and those who are interested become the majority, WvW will become quite a magical place.
those who remain will be stronger than they ever were, bonds will be formed in the trenches. we will lean on each other, and we will support each other. and those who march through to the end will be able to handle whatever comes their way.
plus, there’s superman crapping out free siege and the orbs are gone. this is far from the roughest match we’ve been in. if we can go through matches like the first SoR and BG matches, and come out stronger for it, we certainly can do the same now. we just need to have some patience.
I swear, I started to make a post late last night about the things I’d learned in EB this weekend. Things I never would have learned had our position not been what it was. But I was tired and the words were fighting me, so I gave it up. And here you come along and say it so much more eloquently than I could have on my best day. I wouldn’t exactly say that it’s the match I’d hoped for. For me personally, I must admit there is a mild undercurrent of “not quite as much fun as usual” only because I don’t have the added tension of not knowing how close the score will be at the end of the week. Bit like what every jockey that wasn’t riding Secretariat in the Belmont must have felt like.
But there was still plenty of reason for me to log in as much as I do any other weekend and I still did have a great time. Not everybody will feel like I do, and that’s cool. I didn’t buy anybody else’s game, after all, so I have nothing to say about what anybody else enjoys or doesn’t; I can only hope that most of us can pull together and make what we can out of this week and come out stronger at the end of it.
Anyway, thank you for that post, Phantom.

I think there should be two separate achievements, one for completing the Mist maps and one for the PvE maps, each giving some reward of their own (a hefty one, one would hope), but both required for the acquisition of a Legendary. Then when and if new lands are added to the game (or old lands, as I know many of us hope to someday see Cantha and Elona again) we get new achievements for exploring those lands.
However, splitting them doesn’t really address what seems to have been Anet’s obvious goal, to encourage people to check out WvW. So, if I can’t have it my way, then I like the idea several other people have posted about moving the Vistas and POIs out of the keeps and towers to more accessible locations. That does nothing for the WvW players, who still need to complete the entire PvE map and who still have to contend with queue spots sometimes being taken up by players that have no interest in participating in WvW, but it might make the situation a bit more palatable to PvE players. At the very least, perhaps some resentment to the current system would be eased. And who knows…perhaps by making the requirement less burdensome, we get more PvE players onto the maps, and some of them find out they actually like it, and we swell our ranks (Evil Plan…Activate! MUAHAHAHAAA! ).

Can’t believe I forgot to mention templates in my first post! I long to be able to save my traits then easily swap them. I don’t even care if the game keeps charging me a few silver to do it, or if they put a short cooldown or a ‘no swapping in combat’ restriction.
“Worshipping nonsense and imagination” — Hayden Herrera (paraphrased)

I couldn’t agree more. I think the the co-operative nature of the PvE is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, success of the game design.

Just a few of my favorite things ( and now I have that song stuck in my head ).
- Jumping puzzles
- WvW
- Swimming and underwater combat (Yes, I said it!)
- Being able to make my own armor/weapons/accessories (I guess that’s nothing new as MMOs go, but I hadn’t played a game with crafting before, and I like it a lot)
- The crafting discovery system
- “Deposit all collectibles”
- “Hidden” events/quests
- All the little details
As another poster said, it can be a bit of a love/hate relationship at times; I could have made an equivalent list of things that make my teeth itch. I’m certainly not playing this game as obsessively as I did GW1 or CoH, but then, this game is new and I started both those games when they already had a few years of working the kinks out behind them. I’m still having more than enough fun to keep playing for a while and see what happens.
“Worshipping nonsense and imagination” — Hayden Herrera (paraphrased)
- Skill capping – Getting those titles was some of the most fun I’ve ever had in a game.
- Skills – Maybe we don’t need as many as we had in GW1, but I’m really hoping we’ll see more added for current weapons, and also see new weapons added with new skills.
- Titles
- The Crystal Desert and the Desolation – But I’m hoping/expecting to see them again someday.
- Readily accessible storage – Remember how you could pull stuff out of storage in any outpost? And you could even keep your storage window up while you ran around to the various vendors?
- Weekend Features
- Zaishen quests – I know they were added late, but I think something like that would be a great way to get people back into zones. Something like “all events in X zone today award double karma/XP/coin” (full disclosure: pretty sure I picked up that idea from somebody else on these forums)
- Costumes
- The old chest/key system
- Missions/Instances – I hope to see more instanced content added that falls somewhere between the “needs five” dungeon and the “written to be solo’d” personal story mission (not that you can’t take more than 1 into your PS missions, but the story doesn’t lend itself to it). And have them be repeatable.
- Loot
“Worshipping nonsense and imagination” — Hayden Herrera (paraphrased)
Personally, I have no problem with having skimpy armor options so long as they are actually options (as opposed to the only, or the predominant, choice), and that they are well-balanced with other options both within, and across, genders. And by well-balanced, I don’t mean there has to be a 1:1 ratio. I do mean that if you have (making up numbers here) 14 armor sets, and 13 of them show most of a female character’s skin but leave the male completely covered, that’s not balanced. And that’s the situation I think many people object to, and that Arenanet has tried to avoid with the armor options in GW2. I actually think they might have tipped the balance a little too far; I like trenchcoats a lot, sure, but my main (a female ranger) is wearing the duelist’s set. But I still very, very much appreciate their efforts at avoiding the sexualization of female characters in the game.
And also, I agree with @Bonefield. I wouldn’t say it’s terribly important to me, but it would certainly present more options.
The fact that characters are so strictly gendered in MMOs is baffling to me, and I wish we had the option to choose to wear any version of a skin on our characters, to use the animations of the opposite gender, to have most hairstyles available to both males and females, ect.

“Worshipping nonsense and imagination” — Hayden Herrera (paraphrased)
I get the feeling that the characters we create are, in fact, expected to be a blank slate who will be shaped by the story as you play through it. That’s not a view of roleplaying a character that really works for me; mine tend to start with a history and personality of their own, which of course, will be influenced by their experiences over the course of play. Having said that, I can see why they approached it the way they did. As others have already mentioned, it would be an awfully big job to try to create stories that are going to work for the thousands and thousands of unique characters concepts that players can come up with. No game developer will ever succeed at that.
Despite that, I think there are things that could make the story more accessible to a wider variety of characters, and I hope to see them try in future expansions. In particular, I very much hope we see the cutscenes used much more sparingly. I would rather play my character, not have him or her played for me. Dialogue options that at least provide the illusion of choice would be far preferable to me. And of course, a branching mission or two, where the choice our character makes actually matters, would be even better.
@Curae, I like the way you describe how you put your own personal twist on the story. I’ve had to do much the same thing, although there have been moments when I’ve had to really, really stretch.
EDIT: Grammar
“Worshipping nonsense and imagination” — Hayden Herrera (paraphrased)
(edited by crystal.5930)
I think the crux of the OP’s question is, ‘why is your choice of Order tied to your choice of action in that last mission.’ Presenting us with three missions and then asking us to make the choice would be providing all the information, in that you’d have had the opportunity to do a mission with each Order prior to choosing (if you wanted to play it that way). It’s also entirely plausible for a character to, for example, intend to join the Priory but think the Vigil or the Order of Whispers has the better plan for the specific situation presented in the final mission. The way it’s set up now requires the player to make a metagame/OOC choice rather than an RP-driven/IC choice. That may not be important to everybody, but I completely empathize with the OP.

@rgrwng – A lot of players use this site to see the ranking and current (more or less) scores.
http://mos.millenium.org/matchups#NA
The ranking system is based on a system call Glicko which I’m afraid I don’t know enough about to give a good explanation of.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glicko_rating_system
I can tell you that the colors do change, but it’s based on the server’s rating, it’s not done weekly or on any kind of timetable. To give you an example, my own server was green and in Tier 3 for quite a while. We recently moved up to the 3rd slot in Tier 2, which now makes us red. Long and short though, is that your server will need to secure 1st place in some tier in order to go green. You might want to check the map periodically and see if your server is dominating the whoever the green server is (never know…could happen) so you can sneak in get what you need.
“Worshipping nonsense and imagination” — Hayden Herrera (paraphrased)
Leave my server alone! Seriously, I don’t want to play around with other folks in the open-world that come from other servers. This might be because I’m on the un-official RP server and actively roleplay, but I really prefer to keep my community in-tact the way it is.
I’m with you, Rhysati. I think server communities definitely take on distinct personalities, as people settle into the servers where they feel most comfortable, and switch when they don’t. I love that people wander around Tarnished Coast roleplaying, and that those that aren’t into it just ignore it and carry on with their business (for the most part; every large enough group has its bad actors, of course). I like running into people, and Guild tags, that I recognize, even if I’ve never actually interacted with them beyond doing events together. Creating a pool of players so large that you never run into the same person twice would only decrease what sense of server community there is, and increase the cries that we already hear frequently in the forums about GW2 not providing a sufficiently ‘social’ experience.
“Worshipping nonsense and imagination” — Hayden Herrera (paraphrased)
Yesterday my server owned Stonemist briefly, so I leapt into EB with the specific intent of getting the vista atop the castle. And I still don’t have it because I got caught up in fighting and running supply and building, etc. My own fault, of course; I feel a sense of vaguely amused chagrin, thinking about it. :-)
I got back and forth on the issues of World Completion and the mixing of PvE and WvW requirements for the monthly achievements. Part of me says that everything about the game is ultimately optional, and if you don’t enjoy doing something, don’t do it. This is the tack I take with myself; I just got the monthly achievement for the first time, because in previous months there were requirements I just couldn’t be bothered with. OTOH, I want people to enjoy playing the game so that it’s successful (and so I have happy people to do WvW and PvE with). And it does seem as if the current system, while obviously designed to encourage players to experience a variety of game elements, is not optimal. The WvW lovers find the task of PvE map completion onerous; the PvE lovers find the task of WvW map completion onerous. Perhaps it would satisfy more people if the titles were split (Tyria completion and Mist Completion), and if each title provided some reward plus a unique symbol that could be displayed (like the gold star), but still requiring both for the acquisition of a Legendary.

Again, I really need specifics. I’ve never into this issue on the live server, or while testing, so I’d need to look at the exact spawn to see if anything odd is going on.
Hi, Jeffrey.
Thanks for actually checking in on this.
A place that seemed very broken to me was the camp in Brisban Wildlands, Hidden Lake region, just west of the Seraph Observers waypoint. The spawn rate there just didn’t seem right at all. Every time I went through there, all the NPCs—merchants and such—would be dead due to the bandits constantly overrunning the area.
Trying to keep up with them, and keep the NPCs alive, was impossible alone, and even a party of 5 (in the zone’s level range) was hard pressed.
This was not due to an event. This was normal spawn that I dealt with many times over the course of several weeks. Haven’t been there lately, but last time I was there it was still crazy, and way out of line with the rest of the zone.
FYI. Thanks for looking into it.
I can confirm this one. I ran into the exact thing yesterday when I was playing. You’d think it was some sort of event due to the sheer overwhelming amounts of never-ending bandits that run into the camp…but it’s not. It’s just a constant barrage.
I’m there now in fact, on a level 80 ranger, and was able to observe the pattern for a while (while coming to the aid of players valiantly trying to save those poor NPCs). What seems to happen is that a few bandits will hang in the camp, so a player who’s not familiar with the area is presented with a scene of a slew of dead NPCs, including a merchant, and perhaps 4 or 5 bandits standing around. But as soon as a player either engages the bandits or begins trying to revive NPCs, waves of bandits start to come from the southeast, southwest, and northwest. The waves themselves are not large, but they often contain a Bandit Assassin who throws the “Knock You Back into Last Week” firebombs. The real issue though, is that as far as I can tell, they don’t stop as long as there is a PC present within the radius of the camp.
If I did the attachments right, you’ll see the pattern below. We start with 4 bandits and a bunch of dead NPCs (except for 1 who seems impervious to harm). As soon as I engage, we get a couple who came in from SE on the map (though I’m turned around in the screenshots), then a couple from SW, then one from the NW. In the last shot, all the bandits in the camp are dead, but two more are incoming from the SW. And as I said, as far as I know, it never stops as long as there is a player present (although I, of course, can’t say that for sure without camping the spot for longer than I care to).
“Worshipping nonsense and imagination” — Hayden Herrera (paraphrased)
I was shocked when I started reading the posts about this issue, and really hoped it was a bug. My only interest in this content was that it would have been a fun thing to do with my friends. Nothing about it motivates me to want to play it with a random group. So, I’ll skip it, which is no skin off my back, or I guess, of ANet’s but I’m still just amazed that it was designed like this to begin with. What could possibly be the thought process here?
“Worshipping nonsense and imagination” — Hayden Herrera (paraphrased)
Problem: Everything I don’t want is account bound. I don’t understand why I can’t give my friends my cogs and/or doll frames as it turns out I will not be using any of them.
Solution: If there are 5 things to make and we can only make two of them, let us sell, buy, and trade the others. I would have made mini’s and given them away as Wintersday presents. As it is I just tried to make an Endless Tonic and got frustrated because it didn’t work and I hate gambling. When making new things account bound, please think of us and not our credit cards. If you poke at me to use it, I’ll hold my wallet tightly closed. If you just make the game awesome and fun, I’ll give you more money……don’t you worry about that.
I actually came to the thread to post about this exact thing. I devised a cunning plan to spring a surprise on another player and mail them everything they would need to make a Toy Ventari. This would reflect our in-game RP of my character giving their character the toy. I went to implement this plan the other night, only to discover that two of the ingredients could be traded, but the cogs and recipe could not be. I’ve been told that if I make the mini myself it will also end up account bound (which is what I was afraid of to begin with). Why? Why account bind part of the requirements but not all of them? Why account bind any? Of course, we can still RP around this, but the ‘surprise for the other player’ part is blown, and I’m a bit mystified as to the reasoning behind the restriction.
@OP, good post. I don’t agree with you on all points (I love opening the big presents, for instance), but that’s fine; to each his own. And actually, I think your suggestions for improving them is great. For the most part I’ve been enjoying the event; I was just very disappointed to have my fun little plan foiled.
“Worshipping nonsense and imagination” — Hayden Herrera (paraphrased)
If you didn’t have the buffs from WvW, I am positive that you will notice the difference.
We may notice it, but will we care? I feel quite confident that if this thread had been started in GW2 Discussion forum, you’d have PvE players stating that they’d prefer the buff system be removed from the game, as they don’t want their play to be influenced by what’s happening in PvP (Or PvX if you prefer). I do WvW because I enjoy it. Yes, I think increasing the rewards would be good idea, but I think that about the game across the board. I don’t believe that the buffs provide any meaningful incentive for PvE players to get into WvW. There clearly are rewards that will encourage PvE players to at least load the map, as we have seen with 100% world completion; I wonder how effective that strategy has really been though. We don’t have the data on this, but it would be interesting to know how many players actually stick around and how many just get their POIs and vistas and then leave and never look back.
Frankly, I think all that can really be done is to encourage them to check it out by stressing how much FUN it is. Any enticement that begins to feel like coercion will only breed resentment, and I can tell you just by reading these forums that that’s how some players feel about the 100% world completion requirements and the monthly achievements (I’m not making a judgement on that, only stating what I’ve read). Appeals to a sense of duty or even worse, obligation, are unlikely to work, nor in my opinion, should they. I completely agree with @Skribbl’s post on this topic, and would add to it that there is absolutely NO obligation for any player to play the game in a way they don’t enjoy. WvW is in no way inherently “more important” than any other part of the game.
“Worshipping nonsense and imagination” — Hayden Herrera (paraphrased)
I just want to understand what exactly is going on in your mind at that moment.
What’s going on in my mind depends on what I’m doing at the time. Nine times out of ten if I see you in my path I’ll go for you, although I may approach you cautiously because it’s been my experience that my seeing only a single enemy does not necessarily mean there is only a single enemy there. I actually quite enjoy 1v1 duels, even when I lose them. That one out of ten times, I’m probably in a hurry to get somewhere and whatever my objective is is more important than stopping to fight you and your potentially hidden allies, so I’ll try to avoid or dodge past you. If I get that close and then see that there really is only one of you, though, then I’ll probably change my mind and stop to engage you. If I find you have allies lurking in wait, I’ll break off and report your location on chat.
What’s interesting to me about the replies I’ve read in this thread so far are number of excellent reasons I’ve seen given for not engaging that I had not considered. My thinking has been, setting aside my own enjoyment of the occasional duel or small group battle, that I can only be helping my side by not allowing enemies to wander freely throughout our territory.

I loved heroes and henchmen in GW1. Tweaking my little team of heroes became one of my favorite things to do in game. But this game is so different, I’m not sure how they could be made to work effectively. I remember in the early talk about the game, the developers had discussed a ‘companion’ system, but then when BWE1 happened without it, they said they had scrapped it because it seemed like it wasn’t needed (I’m going from memory here, but could probably find old links). I have a doubt about that, though, given that there are rewards that are unique to dungeons, and there are players for whom dungeons are simply not feasible. Maybe the answer isn’t to bring back AI support, but to expand the range of options for acquiring certain items, e.g. make the dungeon token requirement for legendaries be ‘dungeon tokens’ or ‘something obtainable in PvE’ or ‘something obtainable in WvW.’

Yeah, I agree, I’ve liked Tixx so far. I like the potentially deadly presents dotting the countryside. I haven’t tried the music puzzle yet but am looking forward to it. Fun stuff.

These are some of the most comprehensive patch notes I’ve seen since GW1. Very much appreciate the explanation of the balance philosophy. I used to love reading the developer explanations of the thought, and sometimes the technical, process that went into tweaking classes and skills on the old wiki; hope to see more like this.

I’ll jump on the ‘options’ bandwagon. In my experience (I’m not just talking about GW2 here), those cries of dismay the OP writes off as ‘prudishness’ have not been so much about the existence of skimpy armor/costumes for female characters, but about the existence of predominantly or only skimpy armor/costumes for female characters. I have no objection to there being skimpy options for both females and males, so long as there’s a balance of non-skimpy as well.

@Vorch, there’s dev feedback on it in this thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wintersday/Mysterious-Present-and-Skritt/first#post1004413. Ashford is apparently one of two zones with a box that’s behaving this way. Not working as intended, and being looked into by Anthony Ordon.

Just a quick update, I went through everything and only found these two instances of alarming level range disparity. We should be able to get these fixed shortly, but until then you can simply avoid the area (or get an epic zerg together to take it down and post the video so I can see it).
I really wish it had occurred to me to take screenshots. A group of players in Ashford, on Tarnished Coast, in the wee hours of the morning, decided to go to war on the Skritt. We were of varied natural levels (my ele was level 15, but others were higher). At one point an event triggered nearby that spawned lots of ghosts, so they got into it, and of course some of the local wildlife got annoyed; it looked like a WvW zerg – a sea of red. I think the level 31 Skritt may have started to despawn (there were actually 6 of them up at first, due to somebody triggering the box again), but I am absolutely sure we took down at least two of them. And much merriment was had by all. But please…once was enough. :-)

Thanks for this. Very helpful!

But my question to the community is. What do you feel when you see a commander in PVE?
Doesn’t bother me in the least. In fact, I’ve found it helpful from time to time, such as when we had a commander helping coordinate the event chains in Orr.
<rant> But I am pretty bothered by the behavior you described in your post re. people telling you that you should be in WvW. I hear things like that and it makes my blood boil. Like they have some right to determine how you spend your time. Like you have some obligation to spend your time the way they think you should. So very many people that just need to be slapped by reality until they get the kitten over themselves. </rant>
EDIT: Apparently I was frothing so much I couldn’t type properly.
