@tolunart.2095:
Why did you have to mention Microsoft? That company is the bane of my existence. I have had several projects that we barely delivered on time due to their crappy code.
Microsoft is a horrible, bug-ridden company. Bill Gates was an accomplished marketing strategist and built a monopoly. If they had ever had true competition, we might just be talking about them as a footnote (“hey, what was the name of that company that sold DOS”).
And no, I have never worked there. Had a few employees that did. They never said anything good about the working conditions or pressure. It was all about the deadlines and never about quality.
My first major experience with product launches was in a pharmacy-based company. We get it wrong, people get sick or die. So our CEO always said “failure is not an option.” It was there that I learned about TQM, effective quality assurance and how to get bug-free producst out to market within a short launch window.
Yes, this game has ruined future MMO experiences for me. Unless they offer some of the GW2 features, I can’t see myself buying them. I checked out TSW and RIFT. Just not want I am looking for.
I only have two complaints about GW2 – DR code implemented after launch and bugs. I have confidence that the bugs will be resolved. Removal of DR code, not so sure about. But even if the DR remains, I can see myself playing this game for while.
Still have tons to do on my lvl 80. Created one alt and have plans for at least 4 more. I love alts. In another MMO, I created an alt for what people said would be a great story. I was bored. At one point, I spent a week playing Morrowind instead of that sub-based MMO because the experience was so boring. I actually wasted money not playing a game I paid for to play a game that was years old because the MMO was not fun. I still find GW2 fun and am looking forward to things Arenanet will introduce in the future. Hoping we will get a few holiday events.
@Paulus Beg to differ.
When assessing the quality of a technology solution, there are several things that are reviewed. Did the solution meet business and technical requirements? Not meeting these requirements is unacceptable. Does the solution contain bugs that prevent the customer from accessing features, content, functionality? Having these type of bugs is unacceptable.
In every major company I have worked at, we consider bugs that prevent accessibility to features, content and functionality, to be Severity 1. Release Management will not allow a technology solution to go to production with Severity 1 and Severity 2 defects. It is not just major companies that take this stance. In QA and Release Management best practices, these are considered common approaches.
So when I play a game and I cannot access content, it is unacceptable. That means the product was shipped with a Sev 1or Sev 2 defect. If I cannot advance my game because of a bug, that is worse. Now I have a game product that I can no longer play.
Until a year ago, I was an IT small business owner. I obtained many new clients due to my proven track record. Had delivered over 77 tech solutions and only one had a post-production defect. Yes, I am hard on my team and demanding that we deliver bug-free solutions. But I hate when any customer uses my launched product and finds bugs. Quality begins with the capturing of the business requirements. Validation and testing should occur throughout the project lifecycle. It is my job as the leader to ensure that we deliver quality products.
The number of bugs in GW2 are not acceptable. It is embarrassing and needs to be addressed within the next two weeks. Otherwise, all that prospective customers will hear is how broken the game is.
I do not like the female Order of Whispers. Not because of trenchcoat and pants but because it make you look like a Vamp.
I want to look like a spy or a soldier not some streetwalker.
I wish Arenanet would redesign some of these female medium armors to make them more distinct and not so provocative.
All of the servers are either High or Full. That has not changed since launch. If you do not believe me, check the servers at peak and non-peak times. Today at what I would consider a non-peak time, I found only two North American servers at Medium. These are the same two servers that they opened up post-launch and have been Medium since they came online.
Right now, it is 9:25 am eastern time. All of the other NA servers are High or Full. Why are so many people playing so early on a Saturday? If the game is losing popularity, the server utilization should be decreasing. It is not.
Also, does anyone remember that due to high concurrent use, Arenanet expanded the capacity of some servers. So we have many High and Full servers still with about the same mixture after 1 month.
To determine if use is decreasing, wait until month 5 or 6. Also, this is not a subscription game so to imply that pop reduction is a failure of this game is inappropriate. To be concerned because people are playing alone is a different issue. The best solution would be to join or form a guild. I figured that was an important part of this game given its name.
OP I also am in the IT industry. 13 years of delivering enterprise technology solutions. I absolutely am mortified if my release has any post-production defects. So you know I am a zero defect type IT professional – bugs in final product are unacceptable.
That said, I still enjoy games like Skyrim and GW2 that have bugs. I do not enjoy the release state of the games but the content that is playable.
So far from what I have seen, Arenanet is proud of their product and wants to make the best impression in the marketplace. I think they may be embarrassed right now with the number of bugs. Also, they are probably overwhelmed. Remember in 3 weeks they had to deal with a) account hacks, b) inaccessible features (e.g. TP) due to high concurrent use, c) bugs, d) bots, and e) general support issues.
However, it has now been a month after launch. Bugs must be fixed. The top priority should be any associated with personal story and dynamic events. That is content that most people will be accessing. You only get one chance to make a good first impression. Broken content is bad period.
OP glad you had your first dragon encounter.
I agree with you. I love Skyrim. Would be playing it now if not for GW2.
Random mob encounters would be fun. Like even having the same dragon but have it pop up in different places.
OP I love this game. That said, I have another post where I begged Arenanet to remove the DR code immediately- to do a rollback.
It is one of the few post-launch bad decisions that I think they have made.
Said it before and will say it again. I hate farming. It bores me to tears. However, players that like it should not be penalized for doing it. DR goes against Arenanet’s “play it your way” philosophy.
If the point of DR was to address botting and speed runs, think of another way. Bots still exist and I still see people asking for speed runs. Clearly, DR has not “diminished” the occurrence of these activities.
Arenanet please remove DR from the game. It is frustrating players who otherwise love your game and approach.
Just wanted to add one more thing about the benefit of head cannon in the rpg aspects of MMO.
My main is a human noble. I have finished my personal story. So you would think that my story is over. Not in my head cannon.
I am now making a walking journey back home to Divinity Reach. What I mean is that I am literally going back through each zone. Why from story standpoint? The minions are still out there. The aftermath of the dragon still exists. Before I return to my safe home, I want to help as many people as I can. I want to clean up the mess and kill any remaining undead.
I am excited about this approach. I am hoping to experience some new DEs that I may have missed. Also, I hope to find jumping puzzles as I take a little more time to explore (I have only found/done one and that was on my alt). Also, it will help with my 100% completion in Malchor and Cursed Shore.
My head cannon story is the motivation to walk back through zones. GW2 allows me the freedom to do that without punishing me for being at lvl cap now. Also, I find many (not all) of the DEs to be fun so I don’t mind repeating them. This is the first MMO where I have been excited about repeating content.
Again, maybe it is just me, but Arenanet has found a way to deliver a game that hits all the right buttons.
@Pluckerpuck
“What I am sad about is that nothings asks you to travel a long way away (ignoring personal story). WoW did lead you around, but it gave you a reason to travel to places.”
GW2 allows you as the player to decide where you want to go and when. How is that a negative? I love the type of freedom that games like GW2 and Skyrim give me. I explore, experience and play the way I want and where I want. I really hate linear experiences. They just feel so limiting.
As far as story cohesion, I think I take a different approach than some in the rpg space. I create a backstory for character independent of the devs story. I follow the main story but I allow the backstory to drive my character’s motivations and actions. So the story for me most time is consistent and easy to follow. I have my overarching theme and things happen to support that. It helps me enjoy the content more because in my head cannon, I am seeing my character’s story unfold based on game and my own internal content.
What kind of continents/areas would you like to explore in expansions? Elona. really liked Nightfall
- Would you like to play new races in expansions? (if yes: which ones?) Yes, Tengu
- What could be the final bosses of expansions? Maybe a non-dragon one. Like a person with an army
- Should they add more levels? (ex: maximum 100) No lvl 80 cap is fine. Just add more content in PVE before next expansions. like more DEs or change up existing DEs. and more new hearts in the lower lvl areas. Also, addition of mini-games would be nice.
- What kind of dungeons would you like to explore in expansions? (ex: UW) Open to any new ones Arenanet wants to offer.
(These questions are just examples. Feel free to use your imagination)
On Jade Quarry. No issues with people fighting underwater bosses even after a month. Maybe a call out on the map would help.
Sad that you are not able to do those. I am actually liking the underwater exploration, combat and events more than land. It’s just so different down there. Maybe my character is actually a half-fish/half-human hybrid.
Agree with OP. mini-games would be fun. I always like when a game lets you sit in chair.
There could also be race-specific mini-games.
They fixed this. It now gives level appropriate loot. However, I did not get one rare, just greens.
The entire mission cannot be completed solo and I think that is the real problem. I was underwhelmed by the experience and that was even after hearing about the letdown from others. The only way to make this a solo experience is to change the entire design.
There is no way that you and a few NPCs can kill the waves of undead. You really need human players to successfully navigate through the stages.
I was hoping for something like Dragon Age Origins. You attack the dragon and some of its adds. You have equipment scattered throughout that can weaken the dragon. Then for the final blow, you get this awesome cinematic of you killing him. If the encounter was similar to this with strong NPCS, then yes, you could solo it.
Jade Quarry. put in a ticket 2 days ago. have not had a chance to go back. But it was like the OP said. NPCs firing at nothing. no dragon ever appeared.
Art you keep saying that you would like Arenanet to change its approach or else it is “going to lose to WoW.” Arenanet is not competing with WoW. They make games that they like and believe a group of customers like.
GW1 and GW2 were not made to compete with WoW. They were made to offer the market something different. Arenanet designed GW2 to restore the fun that has been missing in many MMOs. Gear grind is not fun for many. Getting beat down simply because someone has better gear is not fun for many. Even doing things that offer bragging rights is not fun for many. Would you be on Blizzard forums asking them to remove the “holy trinity” because WoW may lose out to GW2?
Arenanet is a box sales-driven business model. They have already made 2 million in sales. No matter what MOP does, Arenanet has achieved its success. Now they are moving forward with fixing bugs, stabilizing the game and introducing new, free content. Their focus is on their game not WoW.
Well said OP. I feel the same way. I had almost given up on MMOs being fun until GW2. I like freedom in my games as well. I feel like every time I log on to GW2 I am free to do what I want. I also like not being pressured by a group to have a certain build or take on a certain role. It is a game. Why can’t I choose how I play and what I play?
Interesting that you should mention Skyrim. GW2 sometimes reminds me of Skyrim in a good way. In my opinion, the concept of end-game should not exist within an open world rpg. The game should not end. Skyrim is a good example. Yes, the main story had you taking out Alduin but was that really the “end of the game.” Unfortunatley, if you read the Skryim forums, you will see that for some it was. And also, you will see threads about how bored people are with Skyrim after a few weeks.
When I read those, I seriously thought we were playing different games. Like they had received bad copies. It is the same thing with GW2. Arenanet made it clear that GW2 has no “end-game.” Anything you can do at lvl cap you can do at lvl 1. That is what hooked me and got me to buy this game.
I have over 550 hours in Skryim (2 characters). Have not played it in a while because I picked up ME3 and now GW2. Does that mean that I am done with it? Nope. Planning on my 3rd character. Also, due to mods, I have so much more I want to do on my 2nd character. When I have time, I will return to Skyrim to resume my in-game adventures.
I think it really depends upon what is important to you and the extent of your imagination. I create backstories for my rpg characters. I treat them like an actor would treat a film or tv role. They live within the world the game designers have created. How can I get bored with them if the world is alive and changing? If it is full of wonder and places to discover?
I love the approach Areananet has taken to “end-game.” If they were to add end-game raids and “required gear grinds”, I would be disappointed. I say “required gear grinds” meaning that I cannot even do content with having certain gear. That is not right. I paid for a game but cannot play specific content unless I grind for days, weeks or even months. Yes, it takes a lot to get certain gear in GW2 but pursuing it is a choice and not a requirement. You do not have to have “exotics” or “legendaries” to experience content in the game.
Love my ranger. Don’t find it boring. But I am doing some things to keep it fresh.
1. Continue to get new pets. Test each out to determine their strengths.
2. Continue to refine my build.
3. Love my weapon setup. Now I am trying out new things based on the situation.
4. Running a trap, dual bow build. This is requiring me to move a lot more. Have to run in to lay traps (most mobs do not come to me when I’m in groups). Also, have been getting better at flanking and dodging.
I have played ranger/hunter class in many MMOs and single player games. Most are about bows and pets. If you don’t really like either, I guess it would get boring after a while. Personally, I like the different combat choices that I have – can go with strong pet, can go with condition damager, can focus on dps, can focus on survivability, etc.
“The game will fail like SWTOR”
It is this kind of logic that I do not understand. SWTOR was a sub-based game that even its creators predicted would be a potential “wow killer.” By EA’s own admission, SWTOR is a financial disappointment because it could not sustain their financial model.
GW2 has been a resounding financial success exceeding box sales forecast (this is by Arenanet’s admission). It does not need to maintain concurrent users to generate revenue. Arenanet’s main prediction is that they were creating a “fun” game. For me and many others, they have achieved that.
However, yes, people like to play with others. Fact – The majority of servers are still full at peak time. Fact – People are still buying the box. After they restarted sales on their site, the game sold 1 million more copies. Fact – The game is a top seller in Europe (check independent sources on the Net).
Anecdoctal – I still get thrown into overflow outside of Lion’s Arch. Lately, the WvW queues have been longer for me not shorter. Once in, WvW is packed and players are active. I am in a small guild (about 30 people). The number of people logging on at peak hours is about the same and sometimes more than average. Also, I have insomnia sometimes so I play early in the morning (non-peak). I still see many players in PVE zones even at the time. I know this because they join in the hearts and DEs.
The bottomline is that this game’s business model is not based on subs but box sales. How can this game be a fail if it has already exceeded its box sales expectations?
Are many people seeking refunds? No. How do we know this? Because it is not being reported by top sellers. When Mass Effect 3 had its ending debacle, Amazon and others began offering “no reason” refunds. It was in the news for weeks. Also, the sales price of that game was discounted by the major retailers within a month of launch. Has GW2 gone on sale yet? Nope.
If you don’t like the game, that is your right. Stop playing, get a refund and move on. If you like the game but think it can be improved, provide constructive criticism to Arenanet via its Suggestion forum or email.
Minikiller there is another thread where the Dev contact confirmed that the loot table is broken for this. They are working on it. Search for the thread. He may have posted an eta on when this will be fixed. He also said they would make it right for those that have already completed the mission.
Bleuskillet like Leeto said, find a guild that is a fit for you. I did research of several guilds before headstart. I found a great one. We are small but the group is fun. Just spent over 4 hours with six of them in WvW last night.
I am sometimes shy in MMOs and have had mixed experiences with guilds. But I would say this game is very group/guild friendly. Again, do some research, talk to people about a guild that interest you, then join.
80 Ranger 9/10
Remove the recent “diminishing return” code and fix the broken events. Then I will give it a 10.
Sam maybe you should use free transfer and move to more heavily populated server. The issues that you are seeing are not happening on Jade Quarry. I just finished a 5 hour run in Malchor’s Leap (sp?). DEs were working and people were joining in. Also, completed two boss events with other players.
When I am in Lion’s Arch, still see people LFG for dungeons. Although, I do think that the dungeon nerf has hurt the game. Arenanet should rollback all of its diminishing return code and come up with seamless ways to stop bots.
Game is fun. Thanks Arenanet team for changing things up. Love the removal of the trinity and the addition of dynamic events.
I have already posted a long appreciation thread of things I like. Just wanted to briefly add one more thing – Environment.
The world is alive. Whether it is illusion or real, it feels like the world is constantly changing, thriving. One of the few MMOs where I have stopped what I am doing just to easedrop on NPC conversation. Some have made me laugh. Some have left me in shock.
Lvl 80 Human Noble. My home instance has been changed by my actions in the world. Spoilers Ahead

I had not been back in a while so I don’t know when things were added. But here are just a few.
1. I choose circus as an option. I saved a bunch of kids from the Ringmaster. There is now an orphanage that I can enter with tons of kids and priests.
2. I choose to be an ambassador to the Hylek (sp?). I now have about 5 or 6 of them in my instance. They talk but give canned responses.
3. Several NPCs will comment on how things have changed in my home instance.
4. The NPCs that worked for the Ringmaster are now in my home instance. When I talk to them, they recognize me and the adventure we had.
5. Some of the NPCs that were there from the beginning will make comments about my adventures when I talk to them. There are a few dialogue options when I click on them.
6. The bartender makes a comment about me not coming around a lot anymore. This happens if I visit the bar and click on him. Before I started adventuring, he would just give pat responses about having a seat or drink or something.
Those are all that I could remember. I will go back again after I finish the personal story to see if anything else has changed.
I know these are not huge changes but I was pleasantly surprised when I went back and saw even these. Hopefully, Arenanet will expand these type of things more in the future and eventually add an actual player home.
Hi Jeffrey,
Here is what I have noticed with the personal story missions. Any mission where you have NPC allies will usually result in many player deaths. I am playing both Human Noble (circus, Whispers) and Norn (heirloom, Vigil).
The NPCs do not help and die quickly. Once they are dead, it appears that the mobs are tuned assuming that you still have NPCs helping you. The mobs will consistently swarm the player if the NPCs are dead so reviving them is near impossible. Even if you do revive the NPCs, they die quickly again. In these missions, I have only been able to finish them by dying to the point where my armor is broken. Upon rezzing, I am swarmed by NPCs sometimes immediately. I then try to kill at least one and die again. I rinse repeat the kill one until I have the NPCs down to 1 or 2. Then I try to rez at least one NPC in the hopes they can help me finish off the remaining mobs.
I have had to use this approach for about 7 of my Human noble missions and 3 of my Norn missions. These experiences really took the fun out of the personal story. I almost once rage quit doing the personal story because it was so frustrating.
My biggest complaint with NPC allies behavior during these is breaking of lore and immersion. Most of these allies are supposed to be great heroes like members of Destiny’s Edge. If they are great heroes, how in the heck can mobs down them in 10 secs? Worse, even if you finish the mission before being half-naked, what does that say about the NPCs? A newcomer hero has triumphed while veterans just laid there on the ground or got owned over and over again. It really undermines the importance and strength of these NPC “heroes.”
That said, I only have the final Victory or Death mission left on my Human Noble. However, once I finish, I will look back on the experience with mixed emotions.
This is a great idea OP. It would really spice of the DEs. Did you also put this in the Suggestion Forum? If not, please do so Arenanet has two chances to see it.
Disclaimer: This is not a rant. I have posted nothing but positive comments about the game in these forums and in other places.
As an avid fan of the game, I wanted to weigh in on the diminishing returns code recently implemented. Please remove it. Please find another way to catch and stop botters.
While I am one of the few that will continue to do DEs and dungeons even with low rewards, there is growing group of people who will not. One of the things I love about GW2 is the freedom to play the way you want. If people want to farm areas, dungeons and DEs, then let them. Only the botters should be punished and mainly because they are cheating.
While I find farming boring, it is not cheating. Some people actually like
it. From a product standpoint, it is a bad idea to limit/take away the freedom that you originally gave your customers. DR is starting to leave a bad mark on an otherwise stellar game.
Please just remove or rollback the code. And as I said earlier, find another way to deal with bots that does not harm the majority of your playerbase.
Not sure if it’s funny but I call my pig “Bacon.” Consider it motivation by fear. He knows what is in store for him if he does not perform.
Thanks for creating the thread.
I want to thank Arenanet for doing a great job on this game. After beta, I knew that I would love the graphics, music (Soule has been my fav since Skyrim), rpg elements like personal story and exploration. Arenanet said they were trying to create a fun game and for me even after a month and having hit lvl 80 cap, they have delivered. I am still having fun and finding more and more new things to do.
But now I want to address what surprised me. I do not know how Arenanet has done it but they have managed to get me to like things that I a) have hated in the past in other games or b) said even during beta, I would not do or like.
1. Dungeons
I hated dungeons before GW2. Hated doing them and especially repeating them for “gear.” The dungeons in GW2 have been a punishing experience for me. So why has this been my consistent reaction? After completing story mode AC with a pug, my first thought was “I want to do that one again. I know we can do better.” I have had the same reaction for the other dungeons. Want to do them again to try new things and improve.
2. Repeating Content
I hate repeating content. Even during the GW2 beta, I liked the DEs and hearts but remember thinking “hope there are tons of these because I will not be doing them again.” I was not thinking this because they were bad or boring. It was because I know how I am about repeating content. So again, why do I find myself going back to areas to repeat DEs? Even with the recent anti-farm code change, I still want to do some DEs and even hearts again. Why? Because I had fun with them. Now don’t get me wrong, some are “meh” and unforgettable. But there are many that I do enjoy doing again no matter the zone or reward.
3. PVP
I have had mixed experiences with PVP in other games. I like doing it every now and then but usually get bored after a while. Now I find myself addicted to WvW. I have spent so much time playing WvW that I still have not finished my personal story or even stepped into sPVP. I have to force myself to leave because it is getting late and yes, I have a job and need sleep. I am shocked by how much I like WvW.
So overall, I think that for me, Arenanet has delivered. I found a list in these forums of things to do now that I am lvl 80. I have only done about half of those so I am now on a mission to experience more of both the PVE and PVP content/activities. For me, the game is fun and has managed to keep my interest. The only game that will pull me away from it is Assassin’s Creed 3 in late October – must do my part for the American Revolution. Then I will be back.
As soon as I saw this topic, I was excited to finally have a chance to get this off my chest. Yes, there are mobs I feel bad about killing. I was sad the first time I saw Quaggan risen. oh my gosh. The Quaggan are so adorable and those bloody risen did this to them. I also hate killing Asura. Sorry but they remind me of little kids.
Now that said, if any of those Quaggan/Asura risen or Inquest come my way, they are going down.
Thanks for posting this Reno and also for the other people who added things. I knew about some of these but had questions on others.
I have been lvl 80 for two weeks and still find that when I log in I have multiple things to do. My biggest challenge is figuring out what I want to do that night. Found a fun guild so its a) hang out with guildies, b) finish another step in my personal story (nope have not finished it yet), c) go into WvW solo or with guild, d) finally do SPVP (nope have not had one match yet. have not had time), d) work on map completion of a zone, e) do a dungeon run, f) craft, g) and so on.
I will not name the game but there is another big title that came out within the last year that truly did not have end-game and became boring. Arenanet’s has said repeatedly that end-game begins at lvl 1. Somehow they have managed to give us more content at lvl cap than some other MMOs. Also, they are already talking about “free” content updates which is exciting to me.
They also have shown responsiveness and sound patch management. Not just bug fixes but adding of enhancements. I have seen some valid suggestions for improvement to DE and dungeons. Have total confidence that Arenanet is listening and will address those shortly as well.
Overall, this game remains fun for me even at the lvl cap. My only negative is that I can’t seem to stop playing. I am serious. I still sneak in lunch playtime and stay up late. While this is not unusual for me with a new game, by now, I expected that it would have worn down a bit.
I have done all the dungeons except Honor, COE and Arah. My first attempt at all dungeons has been with pugs. Not sure about lighter pop servers but there is always someone forming groups for them. I used to hate dungeons in other MMOs but love them here. Yes, I am one of those that think theses dungeons are hard but I do not want the difficulty changed.
Whether with pugs or guildies, the dungeons are helping me improve the way I play my character. In the beta, I was dying a lot. The first week of launch I struggled again but not as bad. Now, I am finally feeling like I have a handle on my main. I can go into WvW with more confidence and am not afraid of Orr (well, not as much). Part of this is due to the dungeon runs forcing me to change my playstyle. It’s not just dodge, dodge and dodge but also environment awareness, skill selection and dependence upon my teammates.
Again, I hated dungeons in other games but love them in GW2. If Arenanet designed these for people like me, then they have hit the nail on the head.
I am with you Borked. I am doing the dungeons for fun and not loot. I cannot even remember the loot I have received so far. But I am a different type of player. I focus more on the RPG aspects of mmorpg.
In fact, I am liking the Destiny’s Edge side story so much that I have incorporated into my “head cannon” story. I will not finish the final boss battle of my personal story until all of Destiny’s Edge has kissed and made up. Well, at least, let go of the past and agreed to help us kill the dragon. So that means that I have to do all the dungeons first in at least story mode, then I will start that final battle.
But as I said, that is just me. I hate gear grinds and normally hate repeating content. However, in GW2, I have been repeating content that I like a lot including dungeons. I now realize that it was not the repeating of content that I hated but the reason. In other games, I felt forced by my guilds to run dungeons and raids over and over just for gear. Absolutely hated it especially when I would be close to getting all of the tier and then bam new tier would be released. “Ladies and gentlemen, restart your engines for the next grindfest.”
Like what Arenanet has done with the dungeons. I actually enjoy them now just for the story and action.
While I understand your frustration OP, this is not a good idea. Before the game was even launched, Arenanet made it clear that the battles would be 24/7. That means that all of us need to figure out ways to be competitive 24/7. This is not an Arenanet or game issue. It is a player/server issue.
The two-week battles have not started yet. That still gives each server time to develop winning strategies and to improve upon its weaknesses (i.e. limited to no night-time coverage).
My server has consistently been in 3rd place for the past two weeks. Should Arenanet nerf the other servers so that we have a chance to win? No. We need to start working on better tactics and come together to execute a more effective strategy to take them down.
IanAwesome.3192:
Is there actually no content on 80 besides repeating the content you did up to 80?
Thank you Ian and everyone else that responded.
I was not saying that there is not enough content once you hit lvl 80. I was trying to tell Arenanet that I absolutely enjoyed many of the hearts. I was wondering if there would be a way in the future where we had an option to repeat them. If not for the same rewards, then at least for the full experience. Meaning I get to do any and all of the activities associated with them again.
I have tons of PVE content still left to do on my lvl 80 main. But I sometimes slip back to earlier zones and participate in events that I really liked. I will try to do some of the heart stuff but sometimes can’t because I am no longer eligible to contribute.
There is a LFG feature in the game. I found it about a week ago. But I do not use it. Have found groups easily for dungeons. I don’t think many people even see the option or if they do, even bother using it.
OP sorry you have had this experience. I have lvl 80 human ranger and lvl 28 norn guardian. I have not had your DE/boss experience. It has been the opposite for me in both cases – so many things going on my head is swimming. Which do I do first? Lol sometimes on my Norn I have just run past because I am trying to complete my personal story.
I also like to solo and am more into the rpg aspects of mmoRPG. Maybe slow down a bit as you travel through the zone. I actually make my characters sleep at night. I think a full cycle is about 30 minutes. Yes, I know that is a long time to wait but I take real life breaks during that time. Usually, within 10-15 minutes some event announcement pops.
Also, I learned early on to go back to an area within the zone. Bam someone runs up to me or a new event that I missed before pops.
I traditionally have avoided fast travel in rpg games. Skyrim taught me it is better to just take the time and walk around the world. If not, you will miss many things – random encounters but also neat spots. I walk a lot in this game. Well, actually in Orr, I have started running, real fast (those risen are too freaking fast).
Hi,
Lvl 80 ranger enjoying the game a lot. Lately have found myself going back to hearts and doing some of the activities even though I get no credit. Doing this from a role-play perspective and because they were fun.
In the future, please consider a way for players to repeat hearts for credit on the same character. Not sure how you would program this but I would really like to experience some of these events again in their entirety.
Thanks.
