I don’t agree the Nightfall OST fits he Crystal Desert at all, despite being a great theme. The Crystal Desert and Elona never felt that similar. Elona was grassland savannah, canyons, forts, swamps and poisonous wasteland where desert once would have been. And it had civilisation – earthen and often magnificent in tone

The Crystal Desert was a near uniform desert landscape with very little else beyond an Oasis and rocky outcrops and very little settlements. In contrast to Elona, it’s beauty was in its mystique and serenity.

It is possible as we progress into Elona itself, the Nightfall OST will fit better, but be wary of confusing the Crystal Desert and Elona as the same thing despite the physical bridging.

We still need to consider that the Elon got redirected into the Crystal Desert and the land has drastically changed since GW1. Furthermore, many Sunspears and other Citizens of Elonan Nations fled from Palawa Joko and build the free city of Amnoon, which has architecture that shares similarities with the architecture we saw in Elona (especially Vabbi).

I still hope we’ll get the Nightfall Theme when we go down to Kourna and Istan during LW Season 4 (at least I hope that we’ll go there).

Frankly it’s lame that the game is 5 years old now, and we never got a rework of how clones and phantasms work.

Because yeah, either, clones should do actual damage an in return phantasms are just removed without replacement, or as the quoted guy said, phantasm is a fourth type of illusion which is separate from the shatterable clones.

Clones actually did nice damage during the first beta weekend(s ?) in 2012. They just changed it because they thought it would make Mesmer too strong. I just wish Anet would bring this back into the game.

And the separation between Clone- and Phantasm-Slots was a suggestion that I read before Anet changed the way how Clone generation would overwrite the Phantasms (it overwrote always the oldest Illusion, no matter its type) even if there were other Clones out.

I feel that mirage should be a spe based on clone and shatter skills, giving +1 clone with a minor trait and changing all phantasm skill to clone skill will give some synergy with the shatter trait and illusion alive trait. Of course you would need traits for boosting damage and survivability of clones, popping a clone each time you gain mirror cloak and at least 4s ambush windows but right now the spe is kinda underwhelming

Anet could separate Clone- and Phantasm-Slots on Mirage. 3 Slots free for Clones and one slot for an additional Phantasm. The Phantasm wouldn’t shatter but stay behind until it dies or gets overwritten by another Phantasm.

I just can’t believe that instead of looking at what Mesmer has and looking at what it needs, they just made a spec around the name Mirage.

Of all the things to be upset about, you chose the name of the elite spec? The name literally does not matter.

The person you quoted said that Anet took the name “Mirage” and gave it skills they thought to be fitting for its theme, ignoring the things that the Mesmer actually needs. They should have made an effort to bring the mesmer new areas to shine instead of giving him things that he already has and what the class can do better without the new elite Specialization.

Anet just took the name “Mirage” and build everything around its name. And the results aren’t convincing enough to give up Chronomancer or Core specs.

The Dervishes in GW1 channeled the power of the gods and transformed into avatars of the gods. Because the gods fled the world after GW1, it makes sense that the Dervishes lost their powers and became defunct.

Couldn’t they still use Wind Prayers, Earth Prayers, Scythe Mastery and Skills of Mystery Line that aren’t god avatars? And Balthazar’s back, so he could have Dervishes in his ranks.

I would love to see the dervish return, at least as NPCs. Balthazars followers could have some Dervishes who can use the Avatar of Balthazar Elite-Form. The enemies could hype up the playerbase until they release the Specialization/class during a later Expansion.

And I want the Ritualist to return when we get the Cantha Addon.

Maybe we’ll get Dervish as a specialization with Exp3, when we go to Kourna and/or Istan. I don’t think LW Season 4 will bring us way down to those areas and only expand Vabbi, the Crystal Desert and the Desolation.

The Weapons share a similar design with the Sunspear , a Spear-Skin from GW1 that you got from Nightfall Pre-Release Bonus-Box.

I really like this simplistic design.

The Outfit has some nice Paragon vibes, but I would have preferred the Paragon Elite Sunspear Armor.

EU is getting scammed

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: darkprecure.6129

darkprecure.6129

It’s because in Europe we tend to have VAT, which is a sort of tax that’s included in the listed price (so if it says €20, it costs €20).
In USA they may or may not have a sales tax that I believe is added onto the listed price (so $20 with a 10% sales tax would cost $22).

The lowest VAT rate in the EU seems to be luxembourg at 17%.
$1 is around €0.85 at the moment.

0.85×1.17=0.9945, so actually $1=€1 for the listed price seems perfectly reasonable at the moment, you’re “overpaying” about half a cent per dollar.

Yes, you may be able to pay less by buying from a state without VAT, it may even be legal to do so without paying import taxes (for instance when it’s cheap enough).
But it’s totally reasonable for a company to convert $1 to €1, they get to keep about the same.

That’s what I wanted to write. The € price is including the VAT while the price for NA doesn’t. It seems to be cheaper but it actually isn’t for most states.

Idk if you could just buy an american Key for PoF because I believe that NA-Keys can’t be used for EU-accounts .

Are you sure? Not confusing that with Counter Magic?

It could be, I don’t really remember, as it’s been awhile since I did Episode One.

Besides, I’m not sure the OP is concerned with collecting Unbound Magic so much as acquiring the Ancient Mursaat Relic trophy.

I don’t confuse it, when flying through the orbs gave me the message “Unlocked by finishing reaper of magic” or similar.

And the wiki page says so, too: “Only after doing this mission will your character be able to get Unbound Magic from harvesting Bloodstone Crystals and to catch them floating in the sky.”

New Zones, Big Events

I attended the event, too. No disconnect. Just hours of wait during the event chain to lure the Ancient Karka into the hive to drop it into the lava.

There was one particular step where the players had to fight never ending hordes of Karka until the Ancient Karka would move on (a bar had to be filled). Because of insane upscaling by the large amounts of players doing this event, the bar went up so slowly… It took nearly an hour and I nearly felt asleep (the event was during evening/night in europe).

Then another event started, felling a tree to let it move on… It was done fast! Plugging geysirs… Fast! Again, hordes of Karka… Sooooo slow. All players on map chat just hoped this event would never repeat. Getting the Karka to the top of the hive, dropping into the lava… Finally done. A nice cutscene… And players shouting their nice fresh precursors from the event reward, while I got nothing (just garbage exos). And I still haven’t got one til today.

Southsun Cove event was fun, but please Anet… Never do something like this again.

How about an armory?

darkprecure.6129

Agreed. It’s not a bad idea, but I can see why ANet won’t do it. If you gain an item once, you’d never have to craft or find it again. Not sure they’d like that given how crafting is a huge money sink.

Plus, it makes you less dependant on RNG . . . which we all know is God in Guild Wars 2.

You would still need to craft for other stat combinations or have luck with RNG.

So is it basically “give me three for one”? (armor-wise)

It takes away the possibility of swapping stats by using the mystic forge and gives you the comfort of not having to use the bank / shared account slots to move the armor between characters.

How about an armory?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: darkprecure.6129

darkprecure.6129

Then maybe try explaining it better. Because if I don’t get it, there’s a good chance ANet doesn’t either. And if ANet doesn’t get it, they sure won’t implement it anywhere near how you want them to.

You get one ascended beserker helmet. You destroy it and “save” it in the armory. Every character with the same armor class can use it without limitations. You can’t swap stats, because the helmet is destroyed and “saved” as berserker helmet. For further stats, you need to craft armor with this stats and destroy it too. For every new stat combination, you would have to craft another ascended item.

It’s not even close to legendary stat swap. I like this idea.

How did 99% of the Mursaat Die?

in Lore

Posted by: darkprecure.6129

darkprecure.6129

Fighting and dieing during the Battle of Lion’s Arch would have been incredibly foolish, if they were the last surviving individuals of the Mursaat race.

Why were they fighting in Lion’s Arch instead of hiding and reproducing to bring back their race to former “Glory”? Were they so stupid to think the last few Mursaat would be enough to fight against the hero who already vanquished many of them during the Prophecies Missions and the Shining Blade? Why would they take the risk of becoming extinct if their numbers were already so low?

Were the Mursaat just fools (thinking they were god-like and able to win the War in Kryta) or did they have some kind of plan?

Unless I’ve missed something, nothing points to golden structures needing to be in Maguuma, so it could be literally anywhere, if it even exists.

I don’t think Lazarus is lying about being the last of his kind (as far as he knows). The White Mantle have spent a lot of energy and resources to revive him alone and if more of his kind were around, I expect they would have either helped or exposed themselves to the WM by now.

I’m not sure how Mursaat come into existence…with the lore surrounding the Exalted, it’s possible that they go through a similar process. Maybe they were once humans, which is why they have such a tie to humanity in the first place. Have the origins of Mursaat ever been explained?

One of the core themes of the Mursaat, though, is that they screw over other races to keep their own floating feet alive. I expect one of Lazarus’ core aims may be increasing the numbers of his own race (however that is achieved) in addition to whatever else his ‘virtuous’ goal is.

Maybe the others just don’t care about the Human / WM affairs anymore and just hide like last time, because they are affraid of the elder dragons? Primordus stirred during EotN (although he didn’t awake), some of them could have hidden before the War in Kryta happened. Maybe there was a faction who didn’t work together with the “WM-Mursaat” and hid themselves in another corner of tyria?

Mursaat where in tyria long before humanity appeared. They can’t have been humans because they were around when the elder dragons awoke the last time.

In Dragonstand-Map closes on Final boss fight

It closed only because of the Low-Population-Map-closing. This is awful. Seems like a bug…

For all who talked about how the map shouldn’t close once the Mouth is engaged. This is already happening. Reached the Mouth with ~ 30 Minutes left, took extremely long to kill it, still had our 15 Minutes to explore… When the Map finally closed, the new maps had already run for 10 Minutes. So no, as long as you don’t fail the fight against the Mouth, the Map will stay until the last minute of the Exploring Phase.

According to… who?

According to its name?? ELITE specialization. ELITE, E L I T E .

This is just bad naming. Like so many others said before, it’s NOT meant to make you stronger than without the Specialization.

And 3 + 1 is ridiculous. Who in their right mind would ever run without it then, if you could choose it along with 3 Core-Specializations? They are completely optional and this is how it’s meant to be by Anet.

Plot twist: After the forgotten left Tyria and the Crystal desert, they searched for the remaining Mursaat to punish them for what they’ve done during the last Rise of the Dragons. They found them and both races fighted relentless against each other. When their magic collided, a big explosion occured, affecting both factions and fusing their individuals into one body, always one Mursaat and one Forgotten. Thats why they are now known as the Exalted and look serpent-like but also have Traits of the Mursaat. :P

Honestly, I hope the are Mursaat and the differences in their appearance is only because GW2 has a different style than GW1. I still remember there were supposed to be “some really cool plans for the Mursaat”.
