Thanks everyone for the replies and ideas so far.

I run 7 wvw characters which is where I get my variety from rather than by switching builds. I also do this so I can think on building synergies in small teams and so I know what to expect when facing all types of opponents.

For raids guardian, necro, ele (from my time in NP guild) and now warrior though I’m still quite noob at that class. I intend to turn two chars into commanders at some point so I thought I’d better try out the warrior before deciding. The guardian is my most used raid class followed by necro.

For roaming I use a mesmer though I have used that for raid builds when needed.

I use an engi when I’m tower sitting.

I use a thief when I’m on my own, to scout and go for sentries, yaks etc.

I’m more than happy to run guild team builds and re-equip (as long as I can afford it at the time).

For the topic, you should specifically mention the guilds and their roster/motives which are on the server at the moment, WvW numbers, Voice Comm scenario, playing focus (PPT or Fights or both), community website (Where the scouts can go and inquire with freedom) etc. Just a suggestion !

What class do you play mostly if I may ask.

Remove AoE cap so you can bunker into a Keep all day all night ? It will backfire, zergs will be inside spamming AoE skills, you will see massive rise in Rangers, Necros, Eles etc. WvW is meant to have zergs, it’s open field battle. Don’t like it ? Go sPvP or Obsidian. And yea, enjoy retaliation as someone mentioned earlier. WvW is really weird and different on NA servers as I see.

The best thing about FSP is it’s community. Everyone has freedom and no one is asked to do something or participate at, to accomplish something, people are mature enough to get themselves together and just get with it. So yea, major Drama free destination.

To get to know a blob, go to a T1 server border on primetime and Attack their NW tower after contesting their Garrison if they have a waypoint. Then move away from the gate, stand a bit north from the gate, and keep an eye on their spawn. You will see a sea of never ending red names jumping and jumping and jumping..that is your blob.

“Closed” raids are for those commanders who can’t deal with pugs. Period, that is the only difference. Those commanders may not like that label, and I get why you wouldn’t. But you need to be a very good commander to run a raid with pugs tagging along and still get those loot bags.

Ranger and necro definitely due to various reasons. However, they have to be skilled.

Guardian or warrior for less skilled players.

Anyway, Guardian is by far the best commanding class, after that comes warrior. The job for ranged class is to spread around and annihilate enemy groups with wells/fields etc. No matter how skilled you are on your ranged, you won’t win a fight against a group led by a skilled melee. And Ranger commander..hmm..well..never mind.

Guild raids p*ss me off, sorry. I understand it’s " Guild Wars " but how crucial guilds are of followers really bothers me. I’m not in a guild for almost that exact reason… The majority of them, let me stress majority will shoo away anyone who isn’t in their guild or scrutinize them until they leave. Sure, there are benefits to being coordinated that much no one can deny. But you shouldn’t exclude people because they’re not a part of your guild, they’re still a part of your server. Let them run with you and who knows maybe they’ll enjoy your conversations and how you play as a team and bam, new recruit.
Not only that, as everyone so often says, coverage wars it should be the more the merrier.

Way I see it, if you’re going to guild raid do what KrazyFlyinChicken said and do what you say don’t kitten around for 60 minutes or have a fit on the five people that want to follow you.
Sorry for the temper but guild raids really grind my gears. It’s like being on the battle field and saying “no, we’re fighting for the same thing but we’re called ‘super friends’ and you can’t fight with us because you’re not a super friend.” It makes no sense.
And thus why I enjoy PUG’s even if they scatter at the sight of a red name. At least they’ll pick you up if you go down and welcome any one who wants to fight by their side.

How hard is it to understand that if you’re not on the raid team, you can spoil multiple things for them ? First of all, you are not on TS with them, so you don’t know their move. Second, you might not have the proper build required, which the guild obviously won’t share. So when facing enemy guild specially a raiding one, you’ll simply go down and die from their focus bomb no matter how good player you are, just because you don’t know the next move of the guild group you’re following. When you’re dead, you could have rallied the enemy guild group’s one caster (being a rallybot) say one necro, main source of damage, and in guild raids, one person matters a lot. If you wanna really follow, ask them if you can join their voice command. If you’re running a Ranger, simply stay away from them. There’s a reason guild groups run tagless. By the way if the closed raid raidleader is running with a tag, then it’s totally not your fault.

Yes of course. The current PPT system is just fine, which I’m not worried about at all. If you don’t have coverage, bring coverage ! It’s not like Vizunah or Blackgate or SFR were born with it. Season means more lootbags, more guilds to fight ! WvW maps are always full and happy with people all around. Bring it on ! Only thing I wouldn’t want is the skill lags though. Btw I’m not from any T1 server. And yeah, fix the server population please, Underworld clearly isn’t a very high populated server.

In ideal zerg fights, all classes except for rangers and engineers have major roles. Guardians are the backbone, provides group with stability, protection, retaliation, might and some initial heals. Warriors, passive dps and CC, condition removal. Main source of CC are stun and knockbacks. Since hammerstun is nerfed, good groups prefer flurry over it. Necros are the main source of DPS and boon strips staying ranged. Eles are the major class for heals and some CC on engage, also DPS. Mesmers are for harassment and null fields, veils, crucial timewarp on stack etc. Thieves are casterkillers. If you have imbalance of any class, things would go wrong. It’s a different case in huge blobs though. But a blob with 60 random players vs a blob with 20 skilled co ordinated classes with 20 other randoms, the second one would melt through the first blob. I have nothing to say about rangers, but Engineers are one of the best roamers out there. Sure, everyone running warr/guard to “survive” but when that blob of 40 including 20 guild group statics and veils over you, you have nowhere to go no matter how many melee you have with you. I have every classes except for ranger. I enjoy every single of them. Depends on what am I doing and yeah, I started this game after launch with a Warrior, it’s my main. If you have no clue what I wrote, make a Ranger, get Arrow cart mastery and siege might maxed, go to EotM, build a superior ac at the top of the keep gate,man it.. and go afk..profit.

Thought it was more than that Cliff? since end of season we have had around 4-5 guilds either no longer playing gw2 or disbanded or moved. I could probably name 4 off the top of my head without even thinking about it, probably a few more if u really thought about it which is a big chunk of what we had on the BL’s, in addition this wurm thing lol. But gunnars on the other hand are doing very well in the ratings their prime time must be chocka block.

That’s true. 4-5 guilds now have regular raids or so. Comparing to 8-9 as early as 3-4 weeks ago. Well anything is fine as long as we don’t have those hour long queues we had during season and early post season. Gunnar’s are doing great..really impressive !

FSP could use a person like you. Need some more drivers. xD

Well got One ring so far from 600+ ranks on 2 chars. Countless exotics and rares though.

Tell you what, go to http://www.gw2gvg.com/guilds, and take a peak. Good GvG guilds on my server are.. dF, PAIN (German majority), SOUL, PunK, Kale. Other great GvG guilds on EU that I know of are TUP, VII, DAWN, FURY (Aurora)..EXG (Deso)..GD (Elona-German)..Mya (Gandara-German)..siN (Baruch-Spanish)..CoN, IRON, INC [Polish] (Gunnar’s)..etc etc and many more.

Great gvg guilds are all over EU. What you should do is forget about a server, get the guilds names all over, and apply on their sites. Then choose a server depending on your guild preference !

This is cool stuff, and interesting. Not my cup of tea..but even after this news, when you see a lone warrior bashing his head against a wooden gate…you realize, there are still spirits (ethanol, methanol etc) left among people in WvW !

This thread isn’t about inviting guilds. Read. It’s the current state of FSP, and I mentioned, I don’t directly represent the community. I assume last server meeting was before the PvE patch and you still had those 2 WvW guilds. Whisp me in game and you’ll know me..aren’t you outmanned in EB right now ? Primetime..

We (Elona) currently have a good coverage within EU-Ranking, still
there aren’t (and will never) enough off-time player to have full maps 24/7 for all servers and the scoring should take care of that by limiting the score you can get by the number of players playing.

Currentlly Piken and Kodash aren’t fighting worser than Elona during prime time, still the match is a very worse one. The only challenge is: Will we squeeze enough points out of them to stay ahead Vizunah and get gold or not?

That’s not good game design, that’s a bug.

As you say, you’re from Elona and you have vast coverage, where were those when Vizunah dominated everything during the league ? Servers losing hard to Elona could be servers who don’t care for PPT, coverage and play for open field fights ? Who knows..or maybe intentionally falling.. Every server has it’s own tactics.

Care so much about PPT? Recruit guilds that can cover all the coverage. It’s so simple. Get the pvers to contribute more. Although I like the ideas provided and will bring a bit of balance ( To mention, I don’t care about PPT much, I enjoy my fights and loots), it will bring a chaos upon the people of timezones who don’t belong to either EU or NA, and care about PPT. Bashing heads at empty keep doors seems lame to me as well but let every person enjoy the game on their own way. It’s an MMO.

Congratulations from Far Shiverpeaks ! You deserve it Deso, the best community in EU. Although I’m not interested in wurm, at least now because the map is full 24/7..good thing for me is the queues are gone from WvW for the time being.. xD you can tell by our ppt atm. Btw people raging at Blackgate people for being elitist and stuff, that’s wrong. That server is the best at everything so they deserve to carry their pride.

6-8) Engineer, Thief, Rangers : They don’t bring something specific to the zerg. Everybody is welcome, but i don’t think that any guild group with specific build and profession would bring any of those.

A thief is essential for a good and organized guild group, like running way ahead of zerg and scouting. Primary casterkiller during GvGs, but needs to be a good kitten thief.

Nah not telling you have to be here, it was just about the “stacked primetime” thingy as not looking for anyone at the timezone. Trust me it’s a lot different here in FSP, I was there at your server early leagues. You could try Surmia, but their EB zerg is even bigger than FSP to be fair lol, but border coverage lacks alot. Aurora has pretty good roamers and I’m impressed with them. Since the leagues, I don’t see roaming conditions anywhere in EU tbh, either you’ll end up in a blob or fighting crickets around at windmill. There is no less blobby server, it’s the quality of roamers of a server. Well, scout for yourself, that’s the best way to know, and I guess, lower tiers would be a perfect suit.

I don’t know, VII isn’t the VII you used to know or fight anymore, even TUP (Dat burst damage, much wow) were much of a challenge to fight with, maybe they lost some core group, or they were raiding with uplevels ! If you ask me which are the best guilds at the moment,considering VoTF and Scnd are inactive, I would say GD, Mya (Melee train hurts!) and dF. Haven’t fought reformed RG yet, but they should be there at the top.

Exclusively recommended! dF has grown pretty strong and consistent in a short period of time. Epic guild with players from highly rated guilds all over EU.

I don’t hate rangers. They are great in PvE, roaming..and good tanky rangers are fun to fight with 1v1. However, it’s the class design which sideline them from organized groups. As someone have mentioned, there are so many bad rangers out there, it’s one of the reasons for the hate. It’s easy to play, you can go afk at camps, sentries while capping it so casual players think why not ! I remember, in a 60 men Baruch Bay blob, at least 20 were rangers and of course, rallybots at first. Anet needs to put some more love in it.

U have to understand something:
a lot of servers have good community’s, and in this community’s U have EU, NA and OZ players who are integral part of them , so why after 1,5 year from game release U want to ban this players from playing with friends and to be a part of community’s what they help to build ? Just because they have different IP?

We have 2 small NA guilds and they are doing a great great job, we are facing servers like Baruch Bay whose prime time is basically NA prime time so good fights during the nights. But FSP going 5 ranks up might as well have something to do with the fact that we tick 350+ during EU primetime with gold league servers. All top tier servers have strong coverage all over that’s why they are top tier. So, even though being really strong during the night, fielding 100 players all over, BB couldn’t cope up with servers like Vizunah or SFR nightshifts. It’s all about numbers, qualities, coverage and tactics. It is also the community and mentality of a server. Back in Underworld, I couldn’t find 10 people to defend T3 stuff during daytime, so I ragequit and went to do the maw, bah, 60+ people blobbing there. So servers suffering from night-stuff bull honky, recruit more people to your server, get more people to play WvW rather than QQing about it.

Props to them. Great people and doing a great job for the server.
