Or just dodge it, block it, reflect it, destroy it, apply Stability, use an Invuln. And so on there’s counter play to it just saying.
Let the salt flow!!!
ele is so boring to play tho.
Actually, if you reduce the spamming of skills and effects, it would affect boons too.
Remember that since boons couldn’t be spammed neither, they would have to be used at the appropriate time and not mindlessly.
Again, the goal is to reduce the spamming of skills, promoting healthy, strategic plays and punishing bad plays, also rewarding good counterplay.Currently, boon-strips and such are garbage since a player can with a single skill get so many boons that stripping is not rewarded.
The key here is that every skill is being spammed or “over-used” at the moment, including but not limited to boons. I’d say that boons are not the main culprit here, but damage, multi-effects on a single skill, CCs and CC-breakers.
Reduce the spamming of skills, and you also reduce the overuse/stacking of boons.
You’d have to pair the longer cooldowns with buffs to their strength, particularly with boonstripping, but across only 9 or so spells that people will want on cooldown, you’d be gimping yourself to have a skill waiting around to remove some boons if it could remove like 3 every 30 seconds.
It seems right now boons are balanced around tournament play and running necro. I’d like to see the devs transition balance to 2k elo matches instead of pro games before we see overhauls like that.
Lack of nerf creep in regards to cooldowns is one of the reasons I like GW2 over something like dota 2.
Yes, mesmer is better than thief. Thief is trash tier though, so that’s not saying much.
1. I use the meta hammer+GS build < exact opposite of snowflake
This gave me a hearty laugh. Let’s assume this isn’t bait.
There are three war builds
1. (The only meta war build) macebow condi.
This is tanky and can kill elementalists/druids assuming they dont drop the dodges. It has a 35% chance to beat guards and can only survive on point vs theifs, so it’s not really a great meta build until you start fighting good druids and eles. Although newbies sometimes struggle against it.
2. GS/2axe
Necro lewding machine, sucks at everything else. Also needs stability and a little bit of luck to zerg the necro. Not meta.
3. Burst burning
One of the worst burning builds in the game, only saving grace is that it’s tanky IF you have a healer, its 1v1 tankyness leaves some want. Also not meta.
GS/hammer has not been meta since HOTS came out, in fact it’s trash. Even when it was “meta” it was only strong due to rampage. The actual stun combo was garbage meant to keep you going until the next rampage. In addition, gs/maceshield is also complete trash. I don’t know why people run it.
(edited by duster.7013)
GS ranger is just so trash that you never see the dmg coming. I’m geniunly curious if he was playing against one in ranked or if it was his bronze smurf.
So this means it is ok to def waypoint in this situation? Why these people want to report me when i do so?
the only time its over okay to do that is against theif and not really, you in a losing matchup. Should’ve had somebody hop mes or druid or something.
I know it happens, and I am sick of seeing it all the time. it feels like theres a d/c every tenth match and the match is just trash. These people either need to fix their pc or go play another game.
There’s ZERO punishment right now if somebody reconnects in time, so they can throw games to their hearts content.
Maybe 1 min is too small but definitely 2-3 should be there.
If somebody is gone for over a minute in a match they should get some sort of ban. Allow people to load in two characters or something.
People reconnecting just in time to lose us mmr is kittened. If you are gonna be throwing peoples games you don’t deserve to be allowed to play ranked.
Nah it was just a metashift. Before hots you could get a 70% winrate on ele just spamming your spells in order.
Again, they countered by mes and DH who you find 3-4 of in every pub game.
Warrs kill DHs btw
No.. power war CAN kill dh. The matchup still favors DH.
Here’s what you’re allowed to say:
Some skills invalidate other skills too much.
Lowering the spammability of skills WILL NOT change the skill floor. It will keep the meta the same but with less gameplay/skill.
IMO this has to do with boons. Boonstripping and boon guarding needs to be balanced so that it’s a calculated part of every matchup, not
>okay, we either run a necro or just deal with the boons.
For instance: increase the toughness damage reduction on elementalist but reduce its duration.
@Gwaihir.1745 stop defending a broken mechanic
same was with taunt on ranger pets, you couldnt dodge it and anet fixed it cause its absolutely broken
if a thief gets hit by the f1, thats his insta death cause he gets pulled into traps and into longbow ground attacks
every attack in this game should be dodgeable, otherwise other classes will have an automatic disadvantage (speaking in general)
Or quit complaining about a mechanic you fail to counter?
Every attack in this game is dodgeable. You had the chance to dodge it. You failed. Any good thief can range break it easily. What you want is a second chance that holds your hand promoting bad gameplay.
T. “Save your evades for the spammable burst and traps noobs” guardian telling people they should be able to 100% dodge spear.
Stop thinking about small things and do big things, such as playing power war when you see a necro.
If it goes much lower than 20 it is way too drastic. RNG invalidates win streaks.
I’ve only seen 1 druid and 0 revs. I didnt think the druid nerf was that hard, but tbh they aren’t super strong on some of these maps.
Lol “variety of classes”.
I didnt know 3 classes was considered variety.
I want to see my boonstripping stats, but they gone now.
Pve is insanely easy in this game, so don’t worry about it. You don’t even have to worry on world bosses or 80 zones. raids/fractals all builds are dps and cc oriented, and there’s a thief build for it you will use.
Lmao at these war are op threads. Try playing faceroll guard instead of faceroll ele.
Nobody knows what the actually op builds are.
Holy, just discovered a build that is more borken than pre hot ele
It has:
5 second CD passive that is kittened broken
12 second cd burst that deals 15k and isn’t half of it’s dmg kit
spammable invis
can run travelers rune and it matchups up perfectly with smoldering
Craploads of team utility
I can even 1v1 condi mesmers.
I’m not gonna go into more detail, but holy crap this build is insanely overpowered. I’m glad it has no chance of getting nerfed before season 5, because it’s going to give me legendary with next to zero effort. I just won four pubs in a row with over 600k dmg average match and no deaths at all.

Rev regenerates dps while time goes by, they also regen their other 5 disjoints.
What matters is who wins silly, and the more you lower skill cieling the less likely the better player is to winning.
You should apply to be a balance dev. Anet is looking for highly qualified and insightful talent such as yourself.
Lol is anything you said supposed to be more insightful? At the end of the day I probably know around 7 times more about comp gaming than you for real.
What matters is who wins silly, and the more you lower skill cieling the less likely the better player is to winning.
All you get from raising cooldowns is lower skill cieling, especially if you do it for every class.
>muh spam buttons
Which is somehow worse than uncounterable “I win” buttons? As long as all classes have short cooldowns, that means the player who is consistantly the best wins, holding class matchups and stuff.Actually no. The low cooldowns are very forgiving on inexperienced players who are less punished for mistiming their skills and having consistent access to blocks and stun breaks. This applies in the reverse scenario too, experienced players are less rewarded for landing skills and have less incentive to manage cooldowns. To sum it up, the margin for error is much wider in today’s state of balance.
Skill floor doesn’t matter at all. Like, throw it into the garbage. Skill cieling is all that matters.
Your proposed changes would make me quit thief altogether
Holy that bow 5 suggestion is kittened. I’ll accept that if you give headbut a 3 second cooldown and 3600 range.
It’s also required on 100% of theif builds, so IDK.
In terms of actual stats elementalists are the strongest build in the game, they are just vulnerable to condi builds. Engis are immortal but they are very low impact, though they bring insane condi clear.
I have zero problems with invuln yielding points. This game does NOT need I win buttons with no counterplay. Eles are meh 1v1, get wrecked by condis and are by far the best healers but are toughness bots who invalidate every single power build in the game solo. I don’t like them being so cyclic in balance, but that’s how it is.
Warriors without their invuln are trash and get bodied by most classes. If you can survive their ten-17 seconds then they are a free kill.

Give season rankings for ranked classes and their mmr and maybe soloq/duoq. The seperate ranking systems will mean people who deal with soloq will get a little extra prestige for their trouble.
As for unranked, add cheesy ranks such as seasons burst dmg or most 10k dmg bursts per season.
Everybody likes feeling like they are accomplishing something.
I like the pvp. Living world is basically just auto attacking.
I honestly wouldn’t mind if the next content patch was just a bunch of new global mobs that roam zones and drop untradeable cosmetics, roam around WRECKING people and take a lot to kill.
The farming part is easy. Just cap the summon cooldown. So you can only summon like 5 mobs a day and in order to troll you’d need a group.
Well it is intended as an insult, so if you see it that way you are correct. If it’s used alone to end an argument they are being lazy, I think it should only be used when people talk about simplifying the pve or making it even easier.
It implies gw2 is an elite game that you aren’t worthy of.
I really don’t mind 1v1/2v2 balance. If you get a few thousand hours in a moba you can see how physically painful it is to count on random allies in pvp, especially when you play support and they boast about their kills. Go ahead and add in a few big support skills, but most of the decisive skills should be INDIVIDUAL and OFFENSIVE.
Pvp would kinda suck if your matchup was decided from minute 0.
(edited by duster.7013)
I cannot play in the open world content without falling asleep. I would love if there was anything at all to spice things up. Here’s some suggestions:
1. An invisable superspeed trashmob that takes 20+ people to kill and roams around the zone, invading people’s tushes, one shotting them and maybe cursing them.
2. Open world pvp. Do whatever you want to encourage friendly behavior, buff non theives, whatever. Disable wvw for like 1 hour every 8 hours and enable open world pvp for an hour or something.
3. Let people do maplestory style trashmob summoning. I want to be able to summon like 17 leaf archer guys in a safe area. C’mon it’s like 300 copper to res. Disable it in the 1-15 zones, the mists and the main city if you want.
So much of the map is being wasted by not spicing things up IMO.
(edited by duster.7013)
I dont think they are done with balance patches. They said they’d be toning some sort of base utility down on guard and all they did was remove the silence. Meta guard only uses 1-2 traps.
(edited by duster.7013)
Thing is, It gives toughness for 5s AGAIN and can grant aoe invuln to something like plebbow druid.
With rebound and a few shouts ele invalidates all power dmg builds in the game.
I notice you are nerfing base healing and upping healing contribution. Be careful not to turn all heals into team heals so that builds can still be balanced around 1v1.
Cyclic balance is lame to play in pubs. “I’m an elementalist and the enemy has 3 condi war? Time to change classes.”
One of the best parts about gw2 is that you DON’T require your team babysitting you the entire game (on most classes). Anybody that thinks that pubs should be forced to use teamwork should be required to play 1k hours as a support in 2k mmr dota. If a player is skilled enough THEY SHOULD be able to carry.
It takes a pretty good rev to beat a pretty mediocre condi war. I guess it just comes down to war just being low skill floor low skill cap. With that being said, I would be surprised if rev still has much chance in that matchup post patch, as precision strike was a massive percentage of their damage, with quickness boosted skull grinder being basically a one shot, they need to keep distance.
I always get triggered when people say this. I’d like revs get to legendary landing headbuts against classes with 6-7 disjoints, like rev and druid.
deadshot is worthless on everything but condi guardian. Every other class wanderers is better.
NO
NO
NO
If you want dumbed down garbage go play league or something. Their, the dev literally says that simplicity is good for a comp game.
Garbage moba and mmo matches are decided over a few huge meme spells instead of repeated tests of skill, so you’d be lowering the skill cieling. Please take such cancer to other games.
(edited by duster.7013)
I think a lot of people are offput by the idea of losing mmr to cheese builds/stronghod heroes and thus dislike the map, but the increased complexity is definitly a step in the right direction. I think capricorn and arena should be revisited and have kore depth added in upcoming patches.
So just keep them out if ranked for a bit and then add then in once people dont feel the maps just a cheese.
No, the escape damage was reduced.
Even though I think revenant should get some nerfs, this is just a bit too much…
Maybe. They one of the few classes with a 100% tourny pick rate.
Rifle 5 is used as an escape and your dps comes from nade auos, blunderbus is rarely even used.
I mean i’m not sure I want rifle engi to be meta ouy of nowhere, but it cant hurt too mix things up.
Maybe reduce range on nades but up their damage and aoe or something.
Longbow druid is amongst the biggest scrub builds in the game but it at least rewards target swapping, spacing and interupts. Rifle engi is just survivable cleave dps, which is way below the meta.
To the Rev will carry, Necro will be a liability argument:
I played Rev and Necro in previous seasons where I 100% solo Q’d and Necro performed a lot better. Its mobilty weakness is easy to compensate in Solo Q just by knowing the jumping puzzles in the maps. Your chill an cripple spam will make it hard if not impossible to follow you.
Rev might shine when facing a power based team or when having an Ele babysitting 24/7. When I played Rev I was too often condi focused while not having someone to support me and died as fast as a Necro would do when standing still on midpoint. So no way, that I generally recommend the class for Solo Q.
Rev+Ele Duo Q is great and can carry the rest of the team.
Only person here that has any idea
Ele is not the best condi tanker. They have to lose a lot of dps/mitigation to sustain condi cleanse. They just better overall healers and remove all power dmg.
If condis are your only concern just pair with a scrapper.
Do many people think Revs are OK now?
Eles and Revs are two least seen professions recently.
If the enemy doesn’t focus you down with condi eles are god tier OP due to being a toughness spamming bot. They just can’t burst much themselves. Eles can bunker DH but they have to work a little to do it, dh power is way harder to evade than power war which you can nearly afk bunker.
If enemy has necro/condi mes and your team has no healer consider hopping off to meta dh or scrapper.
(edited by duster.7013)
You can earn legendaries in pvp, it is called tournament of legends. Or you just buy them on the trading post.
That is the worst excuse ever, especially with the ToL not happening consistently and it doesnt offer an over time approach to acquiring a legendary, or any of the newer legendaries. Why should PvE have the exclusive monopoly on acquiring legendaries whenever you want?
Again it’s basically the only reason to play pve. If they made pve challenging then maybe.
