New game modes can make existing non-viable conquest builds viable in a new mode which helps alleviate the concern with diversity.
It’ll also help retain players given that so many shed out in conquest and there is nowhere to go that isn’t gear-biased if you don’t like what’s going on in CQ at the time other than logging out and choosing another game plain and simple.

Choose one and stick with it and you’ll elevate. You’re starting out, tpvp isn’t really your concern at the moment I would presume so throwing crap like Spirit ranger and Necro at you that could quite likely lose favor in the post Pax balance patch feels like I’d be scamming you.

If I had to generalize.
Ranger is a solid pick it’s had a good track record since January if not before that (but thats when I took note of them).
Guardian, solid pick, best track record of all.
Mesmer, this goes contrary to current perceptions but in reality if you’re just joining pvp, you popping in some hotjoins maybe some low level solo-que? I certainly recommend the Mesmer then. Actually I really recommend it now, because it’s quite likely that the things that haunt it now are either going to take a fall or they’ll go crazy and make it stronger. At which point if you’ve taken a Mesmer now, this is one of the best times you’ll get as the prof to push yourself.

Well i must agree that you play well the mesmer class.
But i must agree with XII.9401 too.
When this meta is over mesmer will be king again and that is not because they all are skilfull players. If you dont belive whatch your vídeo and see how mach damage you did with clones/phantasms. Even when you cannot attack the AI did it for you.

I guess you’ve never played a mesmer and therefore can’t even begin to appreciate the skill that it would take to play such a ridiculous build.

The AI does almost nothing for you, if you don’t believe me try playing count’s spec which he dreamed up while high on what I can only assume is new york grade A-bomb.

Well my first sentence was: “Well i must agree that you play well the mesmer class.” and for me to say thakittens because i enjoyed that play.

The AI does lots of things for you, as for exemple: You can immo some player without the need to go next to him (its dangerous you know) and then use your Blurred Frenzy (here i saw the skill needed to avoid all the damage from the other player while doing that high risk skill).

AI takes the damage for you, your oponents when you are always moving from one side to the other dont know right away where the real mesmer is. This while having phantasm up…

The AI for the mesmer is essential. If you dont believe me see the vídeo again.

I’ve read your posts in other threads on mesmers and I can only assume you have a personal vendetta against them or are just starting to learning the game.

The proof that you’re just new to the game and have no idea how to play is;

I Agree with what I believe is the general intent.
Conquest doesn’t have a mass appeal, they’re focusing on a narrow demographic and upsetting quite a few as a result.

They need to figure out how to make Conquest vastly more appealing or come up with something else that is. While striving for a better balance so they don’t lose players due to that either.

Sigil of Energy is really strong compared to it’s rivals. Though given they said eventually sigils will be reassessed in 2023 guess could wait till then.
Since A dodge every 10s which can negate multiple attacks and prevent possibly thousands of damage is a step above a 300 point heal every 10s

The type is Trick, Deception, Signet, Trap, Venom.
So it chooses a type. If the type it chooses is Trick than all tricks you have are recharged.

umm no RE read his explanation of what happened…. he chose 3 types out of the 4. he used steal 5x and only once it managed to rechared one of the 3 picked. this happeneds to me alot. 9 out of 10 times at certain stretches.

Refills all of one type, there are more than 3 types
The proc is random.

I strongly feel barrage should have instant-kill instead of cripple. This would really put rangers in a new position. Currently barrrage is a bit underwhelming, and the damage it deals is not insane to begin with (and I’m a full zerker ranger saying this). Changing the cripple to instant-kill would really give rangers a huge buff in WvW viability, as well as making barrage and the longbow a weapon a lot more rangers would really want to use. Thoughts?

Have used it several times. It flows very well with an assassination role.
However, initiative management when you go 30 DA was just so much of a bother. Demanded flawless execution more than I felt was realistic and with hidden ICD’s hard to keep track of.

I assume he means blocking one or more hits of a multi hit skill.

Either way what he is saying is not real life.
Conditions don’t give their full damage upfront and some conditions require set up or are multi hit like Sneak Attack or epidemic. In which case you have the full duration of the condition in which to cleanse it to mitigate damage

Maybe its a reality only glass specs are aware of an attack is an attack. Getting hit with some thief’s death blossom is far more favourable for me than eating an eviscerate, skull crack, shatter, arcane burst, or backstab. I can mitigate death blossoms damage with a cleanse or heal I have time because it takes time.
If a I don’t dodge an 8s burn that does 5k in total it has the potential for 5k but I have 8s to cope with that after failing to prevent the burn in the first place. Fairly lenient to didn’t dodge eviscerate now I’m either dead or an axe auto away from it. Spam is everywhere power and condi outside of the engi it’s only more apparent now because of nerfs to burst.

Toughness/Armor should reduce condition damage, problem solved.

Answer:

- Give toughness trait line passive condition defense.

Players with High HP do not feel the damage that much.
Players with Low HP get destroyed in seconds.

High HP should not qualify bunker/sustainment, not in any game. Currently, Toughness means just about nothing in PvP.

As I said before, that would kill the entire point of conditions. Why do damage over a long period of time if you can do more damage NOW and kill the enemy NOW?

Ask the people who ran condition builds in gw1. Damage of conditions had a cap there and they did not stack, yet they were still very useful. It’s called pressure, but perhaps that can’t exist in this much simpler game, mainly due to lack of healers.

Well I don’t need to remind you that health degeneration ignored armor rating in gw1.
There was way more armor ignoring damage in gw1. Consistent damage output is important for pressure.

Yes you are correct when you point out that damage from multiple players is intended to do such however, in the case of power damage, you can actually do counterplay based on skill. Create distance, split them, use position, etc. In the case of condi specs what counter play is available once the cleanses have been exhausted? To reason out for such occurence to be ok since its meant to be that way simply doesnt make sense.

Indeed they are tied to attacks but if you have n number of skills that apply condition do you think the amount of dodges, blocks and defensive capabilites you have can handle it? Lets be realistic here.

He is being realistic being on my phone makes responding in depth a pain in the kitten but its numbers that and your example for power damage is not power exclusive. The problem is you speak as if attacks that apply conditions are completely foreign to how attacks actually work when they follow the rules to a T in reality. Simple example if two thieves try to spam death blossom on you its two melee attacks you can do all the active provisions that you would do against power damage in this same situation except for endure pain and protect me. You can’t think me so foolish to think a melee attack is not melee because it applies conditions. In fact while death blossom blows what you said for “counterplay” is exactly how everyone handles it. Create distance because its melee, interrupt, if all else fails you remove the condition and mitigate the bulk of its damage.

Conditions are not aliens. They don’t suddenly of them self not require positioning.
Engi, necro? These are professions with many conditions of them self which makes them problematic individually because they apply so many so frequently as individuals that condi removal often feels trivial because its reapplied so fast and there are so many to cleanse.
Which hell wasn’t even a big deal on the necro until they threw two additional DOTs on them. Mesmer in WvW had PvE scaling for a more that is still PvP oriented of course it + all the other ridiculous crap in WvW made them daunting.

Dude its damage coming from multiple players its supposed to wreck face. A mesmee cant come tripping balls over power damage because a warrior and thief nuked him out of orbit.

You want two attackers to equal less than two if they utilize conditions wtf? There is no stack problem as stacks themselves have caps.

Guard could go condition with defense and offense, but the problem is, they only have access to one condition! lol

Which is what shows the issue.
Conditions aren’t much of a problem until you throw a significant mix of them on a profession. Condi application is too frequent for something “attrition based”.

It’s really not meta though. I mean, I could introduce eles that run 4 different conjured weapons (which includes the elite of course), because a person might see that, but it’s unlikely that he/she will.

Would hope the current traits are improved.
Sins reward doesn’t heal much even if you go in Healing Power.
Sins Retreat is…sins retreat.
Fleet of foot has that ICD.
Pain has that ICD though it’s not bad.
Hard to catch can get you killed unfortunately.

They’d still have to go and change multiple daze/stun skills that are made to work with the current scaling and hope Runes of Mesmer and Sigil of Paralyzation don’t become bothersome after the fact. (eg Tactical at 2s, Pistol whip and headshot at 1s,) Ranger trait to increase daze/stun duration, etc.

It doesn’t matter if Sigil of Paralyzation stacks.
All dazes and stun round up to the nearest second (see Headshot and Pistol whip). So there is no in-between of 3.5s that exists.

There’s nothing wrong with the sigil. It can’t give less than a second since the way the mechanics work always rounds up the duration and if that was changed they’d have to go back and change duration of skills to go to what they are supposed to go with Rounding…which then lets Sigil of Paralyzation lengthen them and may be another balance concern of itself…which is probably why they dropped Tactical to 1.5s and left it like that.

Getting in melee range of a ranger is a bad idea because that is when they hit you with bonfire, storm spirit active, sun spirit active, and whatever else they want. The only thing that can handle that is the a warrior with berserker’s stance.

If there was a tutorial that gave you a big ‘YOU HAVE FAILED’ message anytime you or one/some of your NPCs was outnumbered on a node, unless you outnumber them on a different node, that would really help people grasp the basics of conquest.

Still wouldn’t really accurately show how things can play out.
Most of us players play Solo or ocassional Dual/full que. It’s easier to get rotations down (and then make a habit of them) when you voice comp since your teammates more readily let you know what is going down, where they need help and if they are fine. Otherwise you just have to get a feel for it and make your own deductions and might just end up running back to assist those who are fine (wasting time).

Hot join is the problem here 8v8 to be more specific where you can get more points zerging then you can playing the game as intended. This is the first thing spvper are exposed to after the stomp instructions and is what is killing the player base. They should make it so you don’t get any points in hot join unless you win then everyone would learn to play so they could get there next finisher. Really with the “meta” the way it is though hot join is not to far off from tpvp anyway.

Traps were good back when people would cluster on the node. Good players will now move out of your traps or dodge through them. Also, with the mass amounts of AI running around one of those will be more likely to trigger your traps than an actual player. On top of that, traps leave you with no defensive utilities. So no, trap ranger isn’t viable simply because people have gotten better at the game.

I agree with this. I remember they used to feel like a nightmare. Now they’re whatever. Nerfs probably helped with that.

Pokemon is crazy unbalanced. Hence why on a community side many things are banned. of an ideal competitive field. On Nintendo’s hosted events pokemon are still banned because they know some things are just flat broke. The meta formed after consciously acknowledging the broken elements in the game and restricting them to form an ideal competitive scenario Plus the game has a huge following and the mechanics are fairly solid excusing some RNG.

Smash bro’s same thing. Fox only, no items, Final destination (not srs). Community driven took balance to an extent into their own hands by limiting what they knew was detrimental to the field.

Was funny watching Custom Arena’s come out, but there weren’t any sort of restrictions. Considering CA you’d think with all the “To hell with x in the meta” Players would run their scrimmage and ban a trait and see if that balanced things out.
All CA based tournaments/scrimmages could’ve had Dhuumfire banned before-hand if they wanted to before Anet put any nerf stick at it. Actually think I would watch some restricted CA fights at this point since it’s so boring to watch right now.

A thief’s steal when traited also needs to be looked at (instant, usable when CC’d, prioritizes stability on boon stealing (or at least it seems like it), and is a 21s cd.) What am I supposed to do against this? I have no idea.

I didn’t get to go into solo que until today.
The first four matches were 4v5.

There isn;t anything really saying that they wouldn’t of rised. The reality is part of solo que is just luck. Team comp, no leavers, hope for the best.
But there is no reason to think maybe “well if they started now they’d be kittened” They have to be doing something right (assuming they continually play) as they’ll eventually if not already run into bull kitten.
