I witnessed Evan stop a moving train with his left index finger.
Thats when I made him part of my gang. He said he rolled out from the rough side of West Kaineng, I knew the life, coming from South side Kaineng myself. The streets are mean man, but Evan was tougher, you see a man like Evan you need him in your gang.
He’s done some good work for me, made some things happen, given me some good responses. His 100 blades are on point, his skull cracks are the truth and he rides on chrome.

I heard John Sharps gang wants to roll up on us, but we’ll be ready. Heard he hails from Kryta, that nation ain’t got no pancake mix. My Pistol whips are on point, my surprise shots are the truth, my money long and I ride on chrome.

Doesn’t help fire attunement do damage, which is what it’s supposed to do.

Make it do damage to people striking you.

Burning is damage :o.

If you want to look at Fire attunement in focus not doing damage. Firewall is the culprit for that.

Change:
Heal and gain a fire aura for 4s.
Heal: 1404 + 0.2x healing power.
Throwing a self-heal outside of water attunement keeps some flexibility. With the focus lack of disengage it is to keep you in the fight longer since you can’t disengage well.

1,2 ~ its a bit off.
3 ~ The stability bothers me far more than stuns. So much uptime on that.
4,5 ~ Disagree. Mobility & Evasion are the thiefs tools for a sustain itself meaningfully. FS and IS on S/D, IS and PW on S/P, feline grace for all sets.
6, it’s directly countered by weakness.
7, Eh not really, it’s strength is in frequency of the Elite itself.
8. this is really strong for sure, all the other defensive sigils don’t really compare.
9, it’s an elite.
10, Ele burst – I know what you’re talking about but in general outside of that ele burst is meh.
15 – It’s not a big deal.
17, Healing signet – Out dpsing it while the warriors under poison. Would work normally but warriors condi defense is fairly strong now and works against that.
18 ~ CD is fine. The stealth duration is too long. You end up twiddling thumbs/throwing out random kitten waiting to see whether he or his allies are dead or if you’re going to be blitzed down. That or they stealthed before you got there and so you’re again twiddling thumbs for an extensive period of time.
20 ~ Lol no it’s not. It depends completely on the profession that has it and how they deliver it.
21 ~ Not a big deal in all seriousness. Quite a few Asura animations are exaggerated enough to distinguish them.

TBH bountiful theft isn’t stifling build variety. Have used trickery for a long time. The real reason why Bountiful theft is taking is a lack of utility skills to offer it. You’re aren’t taking it specifically because its “So strong” you take it because “If I don’t have this I have nothing there is nowhere else to go but S/D” and going S/D itself doesn’t make much sense if you’re rolling say S/P and the boon removal is greatly desired to cover the sets weaknesses. If their was a boon removal utility skill or boon removal added to a utility skill like Scorpion wire, bountiful would be dropped a lot more often for Trickster and minor traits like Flanking strikes. Lets be real, Sigil of Nullification isn’t an alternative.

Executioner isn’t making the CS line mandatory. Hidden Killer is a fine alternative If you use Daggers main-hand. If you use Sword it’s near useless, Shortbow, near useless, Pistol? If it crits all the way to the last hit on Sneak attack maybe not useless but If I recall it doesn’t. So HK is a 1 weapon spec based trait. If you’re trying to share Venoms, then Residual works fine as a choice though I dont feel Venoms are strong enough yet. That being said Executioner isn’t why that isn’t seen more. For Panic strike, it’s actually a really strong trait*when it procs* after that it’s a waste of a trait. Nothing sadder then seeing Panic strike proc on some downed guy, and now you’re traitless for 45 seconds. Outside of that though? At 50% opponent is immobilized and cannot dodge until cleansed is strong? You can actually get more real damage in due to Panic strike then Executioner because of this. There is a fairly significant difference in damage output between They hit 50% and dodged your next two 20% boosted attacks vs they hit 50% and ate your next two attacks. Executioner isn’t holding back DA use though, DA is hurting itself.

Im absolutely flabbergasted that UW combat is receiving this praise.
I have no issue with UW combat existing but its kittening broken. Full stop.
There’s nothing to discuss until anet does another pass on UW combat its got no business here.

Foefire and Temple are the best maps idgaf and Foefire still needs some work done on the lord.
Its really got.nothing to do with AI hate. I never lost sleep over spirit rangers, phantasma or rock dogs. Its what melee cleave was meant to explode. However it just makes zero sense to implement. This isn’t a pushing format outside of Foefire and even then it would only make sense if the NPCs pushed the opposing lord. There’s no need to reinforce capture points themselves with NPCs given how small the map size is. Defenders already have enough time to react and assaulters don’t need the boost.

Capricorn and Skyhammer aren’t really interesting to watch or play.
Before map design even comes into the equation Capricorn flopped because an aspect of combat that the map wants to support isn’t really even finished. Can’t base a map on unfinished combat that’s just weird.

If you want a map people can watch it is Foefire.

Yes, water combat is not perfectly balanced..but neither is the one on land, it’s still better to maintain some degree of water combat rather than wait for its supposed perfect balance ( never seen a game with perfect balance, somebody will always complain about something ) at which point people will complaing even harder, not being used to it.

However combat on land is actually complete. No it’s not better to incorporate a knowingly broken combat system.

Furthermore outside the blatantly broken ranger self-ress and thief realistic perma dodge ( not like the fabled perma dodge s/d build ), the water combat is rather ok in my opinion

You can remove thief and Ranger from equation completely and you’ll still find water combat is currently horse kitten when you sit down with it.

As it stands now even FoeFire promote stationary bunkering at graveyard, it is possible to win completely ignoring the lord kill mechanic and even at that point the end result of the match may not even change.

So your solution to the Lord is….throw kittening charr patrols at a point? Are you oatmeal cinnamon toast crunch serious? Stahp it.

Won’t you prefer to have something more interactive that force players to decisions?
It shouldn’t be something that you can have a chance to ignore.

I would rather the Lord be worth more to give offense push play more credibility while still allowing defensive stall/rotation.
tl;dr. Charr patrols attacking points is disgusting and no, I dont want it.

I have given suggestions that would eliminate any possibility of lazy bunkering, no more sitting on a point while I go take a coffie, don’t you agree?

It doesn’t eliminate anything. Secondary mechanics put pressure on Bunkers to rotate. Throwing an npc wave at the node just makes the game kittened.

You’ve got it backwards. Need less maps like that. Not because shaking the comfort zone is bad, but because the maps are screwed up. Capricorn encourages underwater play which would be fine if underwater combat wasn’t incomplete. Skyhammer is goofy.

Need more maps like Legacy of the foefire.

In Capricorn, we had the sharks that served as deterrent to any enemy foolish enough to enter inside the water, with fewer of them it doesn’t really make much of a difference, now they’re more than a nuisance than an actual threat..and that’s wrong

Tl;dr; you want larger snowball mechanics based on incomplete broken combat.

In order to attract more players, PvP need yes more balance but also needs to be more fun to watch and play , more easy does not translate to more fun..definetely not, you must have noticed this by now , look at the revamped Sunless dragon, look how many people enjoy the harder content…I’d like to receive the same treatment in PvP

The easiest map to watch is foefire.
Capricorn is messy, Skyhammer is messy. Forest is boring and claustrophobic.

Lol Gw2 isn’t spamy because of auto attacks its because of having many skills with weak costs to them.
Eg being a root calms down zealot defense, PW and 100b cost decreases spam. Cast time, root and cool down keep earthquake down to earth. Initiative cost makes missed CnDs crippling.

Necros can throw their staff auto but its easy to strafe its not contributing to spam. If they use up marks you weapon swap for more skills.

How does the auto attack factor in for spam it rarely does.
Skill spam is costs of weapon skills being low given that you can swap weapons. For thief its ini traits.

If other squishy classes can get away with going glass and make up for it with their class mechanics/abilities then Ele should too.

If you go glass on Ele you die instantly lol.

Eles can put on zerkers but they’re arguably inferior at it.
However so what? Some amulets suit other professions better based on how that prof plays.
For instance how much sense does a Shaman amulet make on a guardian when their only condition is burning? Not much, but so what?

What’s odd about it is they have the 20% faster cooldown on Steal in a grandmaster slot no less! That’s about as bad as having a 50% faster endurance regen trait in a grandmaster slot (engineer) when the ranger gets it for free for 5 points.

Sleight of Hand is an instant interrupt with 20% cdr on steal. It’s not just 20%….the things people belittle.

I played S/P for 8 months and had no issues with spirit rangers,ever.
Will blow up your spirits all day it’s part of what the set excels at.
There are other ranger builds that were a pain in the kitten to face over those months but none of them were spirit based. RaO is a definite pain unless running Bountiful theft, as once it pops it makes a fight a headache.

Blitz forward, gaining Swiftness and 1 initiative with each successful hit
Damage: 840.
Swiftness: 4 seconds.
Initiative: 1 (max 3)
Range: 600
note: Like burning speed in how it attacks.

5. Deadly Paradox. 6 initiative. 1/4 cast.
Lose all initiative. Gain Quickness for 4 seconds you also gain might and fury for each point of initiative lost.
Quickness : 4 seconds
Might: 6 seconds. (12-15 stacks at full ini)
Fury: 1 second (12-15 seconds at full ini)

It’s a speedy assaulter with plenty of boons so Acrobatics works really well with it. It’s a very initiative expensive set, so everything has to be done with reason and deadly paradox leaves you vulnerable for the power it gives.

Pistol/Sword : chain skill
1. Shadow blast 4 initiative
Throw a chilling sword at target area, then shadowstep to it for a pistol blast. You return to your original location after 3s.
damage: 600
chill: 3s
range: 900
combo finisher: blast

Sword/Sword: Flashing blades 4 initiative
Become a tempest of blades causing vulnerability and gaining protection with each hit.
Damage (8x): 808
protection: 0.5s
vulnerability: 7s.

Dagger/Sword: Lifebane Strike 4 initiative
Immobilize your foe with a cruel slash and follow up with a life stealing strike.
Damage: 84
Lifesteal: 757 (0.15?)
Healing: 620 (0.4)
Immobilize:1s

P/S is a hybrid like P/D in that it hops into melee range for a couple of its skills (3 and 4). It’s hard to escape given that Shadow blast brings you back after 3 seconds and Dash is expensive without landing it on a target but between the presumed body shot change, shadow blast and Dash it can keep a minimum distance.

Sword/Sword can be an expensive kit but it has plenty of boons to take advantage of, making boon duration a good fit on it. Flashing blades is a mobile skill in contrast to Pistol whip but it does less upfront damage. FB’s cleave allows it to potentially get 24 hits in, making that miniscule duration of protection add up. Dash becomes very cheap for the damage it can do if you hit multiple targets as well and Deadly Paradox, speeds up your auto-attack. All-in-all a Sword/Sword gets increasingly effective the more enemies there are.

Dagger/Sword is a bit of an oddity. Heartseeker is cheaper on a general note to use than Dash, so for movement and general damage it’s superior, however Dash hits harder even than the 25% heartseeker, far more expensive however. If you’ve got 3 targets lined up, Dash is great if you can get 3 targets up, but HS has a combo finisher. So you’ll have to see which one works for you. Lifebane strikes main advantage is life steal ignoring armor, and the strong base heal. The life steal won’t crit however.

There is, but it only reduces the cooldown. Nothing more. Most classes signet cooldown reduction trait also gives an additional effect. Rangers don’t get that directly. We need to pick up an additional Grandmaster trait to get a secondary effect on our signets.

Ummm Elementalist signet traits is 20%
So is Mesmers at just 20% and Guardian and Warrior.
The only onse with a multi function Signet reduction trait are thief and Necro
How is that “Most classes”?
Most classes only get 20% on a single trait.

Typically, running multiple of a same “type” is weak in the majority of cases so why exactly would we do this?
Because 3 conjures is strong?
3 gadgets running amok?
triple signet craze?
3 Physical skills have been too strong for too long?
quadriple turrets really took off?
3 spirit weapon guardians are destroying the game?
That Haste, caltrops, Scorpion wire thief makes the game unplayable?

We could do this all day, the tl;dr is that I don’t get where this suggestion is coming very often running the same type of skill weakens you. Especially given some whole types lack stunbreakers such as Venoms.

so this wouldn’t apply to them, because they are already weak and no one would get 3-4 of them. but as for other utilities which people use 3-4 of them, it will be a huge nerf.

Why shouldn’t people take take 3-4 of them however? They’re given the category so that these traits affect them and make them useful. No one takes 3 untraited spirits.

and what does rewarding specialization do? It pushes players into one set role if one specialization is the best because that specialization will be required.

No seriously.
Look at say a Thief’s Trick skills. None of these are the god kitten same. Specializing in tricks don’t actually mean jack kitten because all the skills within trickery are so kitten different. What currently is available is you can take trickster and say “These skills do not do anything similar they are diverse in their focus but I want to reduce their CD’s by 20%” More than half the time what your specializing is a style and not a role because of the lack of inherit synergy some of these skills have without being traited for. Conjure skills of an ele? None of them are the kitten same, Engi gadgets? Not even the kitten same.

Even ranger spirits the effects are diverse. Prot, Burn, 10% phys, and Swiftness are not connected, the only connection is how they are delivered through NPC’s which gets the Spirit category.
Most of the time you’re specializing in a loose concept that isn’t very effective without traits bonding it together.

I agree to some extent with Kuro however.
Refuge’s duration out of field is stupidly long it creates this passive atmosphere where everyone just waits for 10 seconds for kitten to happen. Would prefer if it was 5s of stealth when the field ends, with a stronger heal inside or even damage mitigation while inside the field.
However waiting 10s for kitten to happen once the field is complete is frankly silly. You end up popping your own refuge half the time just so you can cut the horse kitten.
It feels odd for the devs to at one period of time say “Stealth is a short term defense” as their validation for it, and then have 10s stealth pops from Refuge. Even Mass and Shadowtrap go to 5-6s and Mass is an elite with a heavy cast time.

Mesmer always had their stealths nothing changed, Mesmer has every sort of defense in the game other than reducing damage to 0 and condi immunity.

Anyways. The inf strike hate is shoddy. This skills been here from beta and has seen full powered S/P, pre-Dec S/D and gone through the quickness nerf, fine. To this date S/P uses it fine and playing through it is still not huge. It’s strength is being overstated given the rest of the kit.
In S/P, you have no stealth your defense against ranged attacks is LoS and control. Otherwise a ranger shoots 1 on you until the cows go home. PW is interruptible even after it stuns the target and if you don’t cancel it, hitting you right after the PW is quite feasible. Shadow return alleviates these qualms by giving a LoS break to combat range, and diminishing while not negating the significance of the root on PW.

You can basically jump from a target to another in a second, disengage at will, and focus the nect one without losing too much damage ( give the high amount of sustain S/D thieves have).

You can hop from target to target with Shadow shot as well, excusing Swirling winds popping up.
Inf strike has been there from launch with little qualm, it’s still on S/P and recieves little fuss. Literally this tirade on Inf strike came about when they put Flanking strike as a chain skill. You could’ve ported in all seriousness the whole Larcenous steal 2 boons, 4 ini on the original FS 2nd hit with updated tracking, and it would’ve caused no fuss because counterplay is as simplistic as Frenzy 100b was. They FS they have no choice but to do the flanking stab or cancel it and have to start all over for its benefits. Losing the full 4 ini each time they cancel it’s commit or lose it. Thing with the original FS is even if you got past the tracking (and you very well could) you land flanking stab and it’s mediocre, little reward for the effort, despite it often wanting some form of set-up, or strong ability to read enemy movements in the brief half second you had to DI yourself to a target likely kiting you. This is at current. FS is 1) Easier to land on both fronts, does more overall, Steal> Removal, 2> 1, Easy to land> Difficult to land, Unblockable noteworthy damage > Unblockable insignificant damage.
Im waiting for why S/P still isn’t seen on the same note despite Off-hand Pistol being hailed as superior to off-hand D, having the same inf strike. If you went by the forums with /P + Inf strike, then S/P should be vastly superior, but people generally say otherwise…what could possibly be the difference then? Sounds like the dual skills. If LS is so good that its carrying a “bad” off-hand then why the hell are we looking at inf strike?

Even then S/D is a broke incomplete kit since they changed off-hand dagger in Dec.

Too much apologies in issues you should not. The Thiefs Hallmark is its mobility and evasiveness. Inf strike does its job as it should.

D/D was favored by many over D/P when the off hand dagger was a heavy hitter.

I’d like to see Db go lifesteal based or something along that line of thought and then just improve the velocity of dancing dagger before anything else

Something like D/D condi? Nope.

what about p/d? I think that might be the stronger kit in the end anyway (at skill cap), especially if body shot (pistol 2) was reworked too.

P/D supporting conditions is fine it’s put together better for that purpose and style even if it falls short at the moment.
It literally feels to me like they forgot that they ditched Twisting Fangs in alpha and kept the bleed on death blossom for the hell of it.
You’ve got a power based stealth attack with no utility attached to it (unlike Surprise shot/tactical) it’s completely power based. Your auto attack damage wise is comparable to the Sword power based damage excusing a poison which tips it over. Again mostly about power.
Heartseeker? Power. Dancing dagger? Power. Cloak and dagger? Power and sets up your power stealth attack.
Why the kitten is death blossom applying bleeds? So we can say it ignores armor? It wont do so on a significant value unless you get condi power in, which doesn’t go with the rest of the set especially given that the utility of D/D really doesn’t support it either. Just so someone can go invest in condi power and spam 3? Spec carrion to try and get the best of both worlds by taking condi power for one skill? kittening ridiculous.

You don’t even need a ranged weapon. I think the playstyle itself is dumb as kitten however and would not encourage it.

I don’t much care for the playstyle either, but it’s a build and the end goal should be improving build diversity no?

Something like condition D/D? Unless they’re making a more interesting system nope. That thing can stay permanently buried behind its Power counterpart.

Yes and No. Fire attunement is a flop. Focus itself lacks damage, only what 3 skills do any noteable damage? S/F hinges itself on air attunement because there frankly isn’t much else outside of that including DT and phoenix.

Another go at thoughts.
Fire shield. Gain a fire aura for 5s and heal every second for 5s. Heal: 300 + (0.2x healing power). Cooldown reduced to 35s.
Adds a heal out of water attunement, however really when under fire Fire shield grants you little, the Heal over time will help with that.

Flame wall: 3.5s of burning. Applies 3 seconds of “Elemental Flame” (doesnt stack) if they touch it regardless of whether they dodge, block or invulnerable through. Elemental flame ticks Power damage every second for 4 seconds but each tick can be blocked/evaded/invuln’d.
Makes dodging through it still effective but diminishes it, ideally you want to walk around it.

It’s an interesting change but I’ll repeat a thought I had.
If Stealth-denial is coming and may be added to more skills going forward there should ideally be an addition of traits or a replacement of traits in the Shadow arts line for some more non-stealth traits.
Kind of shoddy to have a line built on Stealth and alienating the stat benefits if in the long run stealth is shut down more often.

In December John Peters said that P/P has a significant amount of support in Headshot, black powder and body shot.
By those words if taken today then body shot is a support skill. Which means they may likely be changing body shot again. That or they’re addressing Unload and pushing it out of a damage centric role to one supportive. Which may be fun for us who don’t play P/P much but may be alienating to those who committed significant amount of time to it already.

I believe the original intent of conjure weapons is an environmental weapon you can give to your teammates for them to use.
Since only eles can attunement swap that doesn’t really work.

So, FS comes back to prebuff state except for the split part? Back to 1 boon for 5 init? XD

At the minimum, if the skill is to remove only one boon it should drop it’s cost to 3 initiative.

Original FS had unblockable evade Cleave boon-strip on low damage with medium dmg follow up where the medium damage was well telegraphed

and post patch would be low damage evade with unblockable Single-target boon-steal medium damage follow up where the medium damage is slightly telegraphed.

The telegraph is probably the big thing. Splitting the skill made it easier to your damage on players. It didn’t matter for monsters since they’re mostly stationary. If they had just changed the tracking on Original FS and added Boonsteal there probably would have been zero nerfs given how telegraphed it was.

They are considering the change.
In PvE it practically doesn’t matter as there is a lack of boon application on enemies.
Which somewhat hindered the significance of the Original FS in PvE which pretty much had zero tracking issues on stationary enemies to begin with.

Couple of quick things Sharp.
Stuff sounds good at a surface level to an extent but a couple of thoughts.

With the idea of Sick’em denying stealth and this idea possibly extending to other skills will you be adding more non-stealth traits or replacing stealth traits for non-stealth traits in the SA line in the future? As you know that line is quite dense as far as stealth related traits go. Off the top of my head while this may not see Tpvp play a Ranger can ensure his shortbow 1 spam on a thief by pressing Sick-em to make sure Last Refuge does not go off in one situation. In another situation he outright stops a D/P thief from his 5-2 combo to deny backstab/escape. That’s somewhat strong given that Stealth is the most solid counter to range spam on a thief given Smokescreen I’d say isn’t as efficient in pvp as you probably hope it would be. This sounds like interesting play but do you perhaps want to decrease the significance of stealth for thieves going forward?

Think you can make sneak in a quick increase of velocity to Dancing Dagger even if it’s miniscule between now and tuesday?

It is of course appreciated that you summarized why you were going with the changes you are.

Mesmer has a kittenload of defenses.
Post patch engis will have reliable stealth stomp + Elixir S stomp.
Eles have mist form, rock solid, obsidian flesh, swirling winds, magnetic wave/aura, armor of earth, arcane block , sc3 blind and signet of air blind.
Wars have stability
Guardian with stab
Necros kinds have stability and blind well lol. kitten necros anyways.

Actually kitten it tl;Dr everyone can stomp well except necros.

No pro ele cus I’m a thief main but…

1. Getting insta-gibbed with 16-17k health as a thief is a trip. Had to adjust to that spike.
2. As an ele I like everything combo except S/D and IMO with Focus + lightning flash you have all the base mobility you need + 1-4 anti burst defenses depending on if the burst is delivered via range or melee.
I think in many ways glass else is strong. Wave and blast are instant cash, sc air 2 is instant and sc air 3. Given that some or the attacks are instant I think making glass ele stronger in terms of Sc/x air would only aggravate the player base.
3. I do t fi d 30/30 dont flexible enough but I find the same situation for my thief at 30/30. Attunement swap is long.

PvP is not currently designed to have extensible content. There are maps, which we do make. There are runes and sigils, but there are already an overabundance of them. Finally there are skins, which are added usually with every other update, but how you obtain those skins stem from PvE.

There are no features we can just ‘throw people at’ to give you guys more content. We need more infrastructure and more extensible systems, but those are the hardest to design and take the most time to implement. An example would be a completely reworked reward system. Those are the things we’re working on. It’s taking a lot of time and hard work to get there, but the payoff will be worth it.
