The issue IMO isn’t proof of heroics… its badges of honor. You will end up banking proof of heroics.

At least that is my issue (yes, i complete the dailys), but I have only unlocked my berserker and chronomancer… currently unlocking ele (but no rush as the default ele builds are pretty fun).

I am no expert, but i would use greatsword over staff.

I just go by the power shatter build (see helseth on youtube for the breakdown). Having good mileage with it. I dont have access to marauder though so i am (probably stupidly) using mostly zerker.

I havent rerolled but I currently have a mesmer/reaper in the background, and beyond that thief/engi/ele :P

Keeping in mind you have to also unlock the new mastery which takes a bit of time.

So I tried this, and its good… walked into wvw feeling a bit more useful and then a DH jumps on me and before I can ignore pain/break i am dead.

I’m sure good players can make “any class” work, just for average people like me warrior is harder to pull off than other classes. Some learn2play and some “broken warrior”. Some mature/immature comments in this thread, but you should direct this at Anet not people playing the game.

Since its been a few years, i realised i was running some bad accessories. I created another berserker set/str runes.

I went for axe/mace+gs and doing ok, but will definitely look at the solo builds below as I think the one I am using is more for fractals.

I really like the Phalanx str build, but I think for solo running its probably not that great.

I have PVT armor in the bank, will this ever be useful :>

Looking for some advice, just came back to the game for HoT after a year+ away. I think my exotic berserker gear/amulets are still ok (not ascended yet).

I am currently using a berserker rifle+sword/sh build for open world, but not finding it to be terrible great (loving gunflame though).

I want to get more into PVE/fractals/solo, so was wondering what people are using for this. (Phalanx, etc).

So, any advice? I have been reading forums/metabattle/intothemists etc. Seems to be some conflicting ideas floating around.

My level of experience is “hit and giggle”, most fun I have is in wvw but it appears very quiet (at least on crystal desert when i play)

I have been using the WvW build (mace/torch, sword/sword) with krait runes/berserker and it has been fun, but I think I will need to change to a longbow or rifle

I sometimes run a P/V/T warrior and even with adrenal health, healing signet, ~1100 healing with shout heals/recharges you still die to anything, you have no sustain or protection, you’re better off just using a shield+/hammer and hoping you get a stun off until help comes.

DPS warriors sound great on paper too, until you know how it works and you can dodge HB gimmicks, eviscerates that never land, bull rushes that never connect, or advertized kill shots that you can dodge to avoid.

I switch it out sometimes for hammer/GS/longbow, but all this theory crafting is stupid, go play a warrior in the mists, try all these things you think are awesome and then when you realise it doesn’t work how you think then come back. We lack synergy with our skills.

Oh for PVE, I don’t do much of that so can’t comment.

That said I still play the class, I cant be bothered levelling an Ele or guardian.

Bump, what gears are you using? Do you go full zerker?

What kind of gear do you wear on this, I assume PVT isn’t helpful… do you go condition (carrion) or just knights/etc?

Just FYI do a search on the AH for “sentinel” exotic gear, its craftable P/V/T gear so you don’t have to waste badges or karma.

(edit: although I think it has more vitality than power than invader gear… i could be wrong)

No collaboration between ioj and dh. had both SF and IOJ outside main EB keep yesterday that was unpleasant for us very hurtful sandwhich!

If you read some of the other professions, some of them are a bit upset over their nerfs and changes so it might be that they didn’t want to overbalance the warrior with some of the fixes/nerfs going out.

Last week DR and IOJ ganged up on DH because we opened strong, SF had a -very- strong opening so yeah of course they are going to nibble on the sides because up front with numbers etc is a lot harder.

IOJ and DH have coverage at odd times, never know what you will see when you wake up.

Talk of numbers, zergs, gangs etc are useless. SF will dominate with numbers, then DH will, its the ebb and flow of people signing in. It just means you change strats or walk back a lot!

So far its fun, I miss DR though and their forum baiting

I will post more at home, but I run with 2x rune of water, 2x rune of air, 2x rune of speed and with elite auto cast/10% boon duration in traits and signet mastery you are 100% perma running and also i think you have perma might/fury except for 10 seconds (whatever the elite is).

My point was how can you say a warrior will outrun an ele but only if an ele doesn’t use a skill? Am I missing something here?

DD ele unless they pull out FGS. That’s it. Not up for debate its fact.

I could say the same, I’m not as fast unless I swap in a GS which I don’t use… speed just isn’t magically granted to a warrior.

There must be some wierd ele specs out there because when I run greatsword/mainhand sword and bull’s charge I can never keep the ele locked down long enough to do any damage to them. I probably suck though.

Not just you, bolas/bullshcarge for me usually either miss, or go forward beyond where they were or i go half the distance and just look around wondering whats going on.

While I agree with you that Eles can dodge Cripple Shot and Riffle But. Compare to Burning Speed and RtL animation, Cripple Shot is harder to predict, Riffle But is dodge able though. For CE, even if he have no dodge. How about a Blind Shot? Blind also cause CE to miss or Endure pain which will prevent direct dam from him and Shake it Off to get off the Bleed condition

Ring of Earth casting after he eat Magnetic Grasp though. If he want to gain range advantage, why not use Shake It off or Healing that remove 2 conditions bf using Rush and Whirlwind Blade. If I put ultities into account, things will become much more complicated.

If they use the Lightflash to approach, sure they still have RtL there. On the downside though, he can not use CE with Lightning flash combo. War can either save the dodge to dodge CE or simply get out of CE Circle because he know Lightning Flash has been used.

Rifle builds are berserker based, they die so quick. Kill shots are so easily avoidable. Rifle #5, don’t you have stability? Why are you so close to a warrior then.

Endure pain lasts for 4 seconds and doesn’t stop dmg already on the warrior like dots/burns. It is only chosen by people because there is not much better (may as well get more vigor and dodge more)

If you had lyssa runes you would have access to more retal and maybe with boon duration a bit longer, but still meh

The reason warriors are ok in www is simply because you meet lots of upranked players, can use terrain, and in the zerg pick people off.

Any class in www is fine

Compared to guardian access to retal its pretty meh for grandmaster talent as it is. I ran it for a while and tried to make it work.

I run 3x runes and boon duration so I have 100% swiftness + shield I get leap, I’m fast and I sacrifice a lot for it.

I got chased by an ele and they stayed with me for half the map until one of their friends arrived.

Ele is one of the most OP classes, if you can’t make it work on an ele please quit or learn how to press F1 to F4 properly.

Good eles either win, or can run off rather easily. If they get downed just wisp form behind keeps/enemy lines.

Best thing I ever did was spec into 100% swiftness (and 80% ish for might I suppose).

Our stances need rework. We don’t “want” to be like guardians but they are a good example of a class with working synergy that has a lot of the points we complain about (however, guardians are not nirvana they have sore points as well I am sure)

peter, even if we stack vit/tough and had strong adrenal/dolyak etc, it still would make us sub par to guardians (at the moments its more of a “ill take this because i need further points in the tree”)… we have no access to protection (except lyssa runes maybe?), high retal uptime etc.

Just my opinion, but I would trade in health pool for better effective health

I also think if our shout heals were a bit stronger, it would be more in line with the offensive capabilites you lose to spec into it.

longbow is great for badge farming, and if you spec right you can get a lot of F1’s off.

I only play www and after lots of testing I’m happy with matale7’s hammer build (not sure if it is his, just saw it on youtube).

Before that closest build i liked was longbow|sword/warhorn but thieves were annoying eating the backlines

Its old but I like it ( i use different utilities though and change it a little)

Not so good against people with stability.

Was better when it wasn’t capped to 5 targets. I tried it in knights gear with cleric amulets/rings and it was “ok”, I think guardians/ele are better at it, but if you run with a group of people who will peel people off you its can be fun, if you run solo expect to assist people then eat dirt

Ive not tried banner healing so no idea if it compares, I would be more interested in it though if there was an elite shout, but warriors are pretty much forced for signet of rage.

What do you want to use it for?

I would only go PVT with like a shout heal / support spec (soldier runes etc) or maybe hammer (unsuspecting foe etc). If you want survival I would go more into your spec (shield block, endure pain etc).

Warrior does not bunker well, so if you plan to put it on and outlast others good luck

Im using hammer/sword+shield spec, with mixed runes for 100% swiftness (autocast rage) and stun breaks. I like it for frontlines.

I mostly use knights gear, I do have a valkyrie set from early hitting 80 as well, but with knights you can swap in some amulets/rings and more versatile.

If you’re not comfortable playing in front, go longbow, spec one of the many longbow specs and just fire from ranged (good way to get badges). Just AOE tag everything :P

Level to 80 with GS, then at 80 play around with hammer

How I deal with good mesmers is jump/run away since they can’t catch up, come back with a friend :P

Ive come up against rifle warriors on my hammer, its easy to dodge or endure pain or, and more fun, shield block/reflect projectiles

Rifle can be a fun spec though regardless.

first of all what anet should do is remove clones and stealth from this game (no im not kidding) and replace it with decent skills so that we all can see our oponents and fight them back, because mesmers hiding behind clones and thieves hiding in stealth while doing tons of dmg is a joke yes. Im sure that many ppl wont agree with this (at least ppl playing thieves and mesmers for sure), but to be honest i dont care and this is my opinion. NO CLASS SHOULD BE INVISIBLE (STEALTH) OR MAKING MORE CLASSES (CLONES) -TO ME THIS IS CHEATING and i dont care how funny this sounds.
They said (anet) that they want to implement new balance in this game slowly, but i think they should be careful, cuz last update kitten off many ppl (including me) and its only matter of time when they kitten even more if they are gonna go this way.

Before you people cry about imbalance please post a video of you playing and your build so the community can determine whether you have a right to your claims. I’m 99% sure most of the cry babies either have sub par gear, builds, and movement (Back peddle, Clicking, Key turning, not dodge rolling). I strongly believe if these things apply to you then you have no right to come to the forums and whine. You are not playing the best you can be playing so of course good people are going to make short work of you “handicapped gamers”.

This game has like 8 buttons you need to press and a mouse to wave, its hardly olympic level sport.
