I run the qtfy.eu fractal build with blood variant in open world and its fun, and you get the faster runspeed on dagger without having to slot a signet. I sometimes switch in parasitic contagion just to be beefy.

For open world you can pretty much do what you want for skills, pets, wells, etc.

Just what I run, i am no means an expert but its fun to epi a group of mobs or reaper #4 to rez people.

As a maguuman, let me break this down to you.

1) Spawn camping, there are three exits. You can leave or swap maps. If you continue to run outside by yourself to feed participation it is your own fault.

2) Every server has awesome players, average players, and rallybots. You cannot say a server is more or less skilled. It also ebbs depending on timezone. I am ocx and mag does not dominate in ocx or sea, although we have lots of fun.

3) Every, server, would, do, the, same, thing, as, its, based, on, population, in, map.

If the game is not fun for you, why are you even playing.

In relation to being pulled by guards, only issues I have had has been being stuck in repaired walls so far.

You’re saying I am inconsiderate for running down participation for a few minutes?

That is like saying that I am causing the same harm by boosting stats by taking a dump during the game and afk’ing. I guess that is inconsiderate as well?

I think you overstate the impact, but I am only guessing as I do not have insider knowledge of how anet calculate that. I guess you do

What harm am I doing if I am running down my participation in an outnumbered map? Not even botting or autocasting just moving every few minutes.

Maybe you should blame anet for such a clunky pip/participation/track.

Yep I’ve seen it in prime time and it sucks, ive also seen opposing faction spies drain keeps of siege before attack and pull levers.

If I am in a zerg I go spite/curses/reaper, nice vuln stacks unlong with bleeds.

Smaller group or solo, curses/soul reaping/reaper so I can spin to win more.

I prefer curses because crits cause bleed (dont just go trailblazer) and parasitic contagion gives some small sustain or go lingering curses.

I also run with mostly shouts (reaper runes) and run speed signet which I change if I get time into epi for lords or boon corrupt or transfer.

I think there are so many viable and fun builds though.

I run sc/dagger| staff, scepter bleeds etc.

Just FYI, there are many builds out there to counter this so don’t expect everything to be a free meal >:)

Might not be a popular answer but my opinion from someone who solo plays a lot (yay OCX)

Reaper is insanely fun in open world and forgiving. GS+sc/d and things just melt. Can solo lots of things you could not on the ele (well I couldnt). Need more sustain, just click on parasitic contagion, spin up some minions if it gets boring.

Ele its stay in fire or shift into water and lose all your dps for small heals. If you play with friends, in groups and high fractals (raid, t4), then yeah go ele its more dps and a simpler rotation. You could go focus over warhorn for stone invuln if you’re worried about dying to a mechanic.

In wvw (not sure on pvp) but necro has some really strong group builds

I am waiting to forge stuff on my ele but i dont think since nerf its been benchmarked, but tend to agree probably will be ahead

I am a returning player and I tried it on one of my toons (well more the mantra heal type build) and I think its good for 10+ people. For roaming with 5 I tend to get focused and die a lot (although im using blink).

Smaller I would probably stick to my healbot ele.

Just what I found, i am not the best player and its probably my lack of skill or some more time to play this.

Edit: To be fair, I think I was more focused on mantra healer

Returning to game, where is the OCX action (just t1?).

Im on maguuma and its pretty quiet in ocx (excluding weekends I guess).

Looks really good, would you swap in a dagger and change to quickening thirst so you get some runspeed?

What servers have good representation in OCX times?

I also run D/F minstrel troll and find a good player to healbot. Not much else on ele at the moment. Not saying it is impossible but if you meet equally skilled people or better you’re gonna drop.

I dont pvp only wvw, but from what i saw and I could be wrong… you’re much more skilled than the other players in the video :/ what happens when you go against people who react faster?

Mag player here in KILL/OCX but i wander around whenever, mostly trying new builds or finding other roamers.

I kind of think you’re all correct, it just depends on the time of day, what else is going on, reset night or not, composition, pugs, etc. It ebbs and flows from being the underdog to the topdog. I think most in this thread if they can find 15 of the same like minded/skilled people are going to have a lot of fun even if tactics change from head on zerg to fighting in tunnels =)… (I will be that guy stuck in red circles or falling of bridges)

I transferred from CD, glad to see that are doing better then the silence it was when I was there.

Either way its fun, keep on ganking and putting siege on me all good \o/

Is it possible to fix the order of characters on selection screen rather than just most recently logged in?

I run on maguuma OCX times, where SBI and SOS blob us out usually. I don’t necessarily agree your population is low or high, but from where I see it it seems more evenly balanced across timezones.

Last reset I think we only had 1x pin on all borderlands, i think it was just a quiet weekend and hope it picks up.

WTB more around OCX/SEA times. NA though some crazy fights.

I run same build as Dorid’s but in full celestial gear/runes of radiance. It is a real troll build though against good players its stalemate. I find it’s really good in small groups (5 to 10. Above that and switch to dps staff for blobs.

Better to run with a friend who can kill quick since you can sustain.

My disclaimer is I wouldn’t call myself a great player, I go into wvw, kill things, have a bit of fun. I am by no means expert level

Now my ele build at melee range (which you should always be if you’re in a fight) is going to be sitting at 99.38% damage reduction at almost all times. Every aura you apply to yourself gives you regen, which clears conditions. You also get protection that gives you that nice 40% damage reduction, which I manage to keep pretty much 100% up time of.

So you get to kill stuff, not die and laugh even in 2v1s pretty easily.

Maybe not a question for just this, but is it worth changing my morbach gear to trailblazer (at least the armor slots?)

On my DH I went traveler runes.

Same as on any characters I have that don’t have innate 25%+ runspeed.

Nice video and build. I tried it but had to switch defense to discipline… couldnt live without the runspeed although i probably killed a lot of survivability for it :p

Hey I hate thieves as much as the next person :P but this is kind of their job right? Give up survivability, utility, to be a one trick pony (gunflame!)

I mean I have an 80 daredevil/thief I played around with but I found out in zergs I can’t contribute that much except picking off people out of position. PVD I have a shortbow.

Yep I have eaten instakill from a thief… I’ve also walked over a bridge half asleep and had some DH’s traps instakill me as well (I admit to not being a great player :P). I also found that you need to play better than most to pull it off and any error results in you getting downed.

I mostly play condi chrono of all my 80s (like druid, but mesmer is just more fun to me).

Don’t run from torment, the amount of times I’ve seen people kill themselves by panicking and running…

What was said above is good, or if you have distance and nothings on you just pike the other way. Chronos run 25%, normal mesmers dont unless using runes. We have a single teleport almost all will take. We are pretty mobile.

If I am not in range of a druid there is no point chasing them, rare ill catch them assuming everyones CD’s are up.

Oh and I hate the druids that vanish all the time, probably as much as they hate mesmers doing the same :p

Very true, I guess just have a staff in your pack if you need to PVD

I ran aurashare with +healing gear on my ele (was a fun build)… I got sworn a lot by people when I couldnt kill siege quickly :>

In wvw most will want you to run staff for siege though

In that case then thieves must be the most overpowered of them, they are everywhere!

Looking for some help. I came back for HoT and I am levelling all characters to 80/elites… I have engineer and rev left.

What is a good wvw spec for rev without herald spec? or is there not really many choices?

You need to spec something that can deal with them, keeping in mind they might be a hard counter to your class.

i.e. if I play on my staff backline tempest, im a free hk found outside of the zerg. On my mesmer roam spec its much less clear

I dont play my warrior must because they are STILL underpowered.

When they go berserk it is broadcast they turn bright red. Just run/hide/stealth/get away until it drops. It is a one trick pony. Other classes might not get the “WOW CRIT” but ive been 100-0’d by many classes.

Really liking this build, except I only play in wvw and use perplexing runes. Takes a bit to get a hang of it but its quite fun.

I have noticed though that if people don’t attack you clone generation can be a bit slow (I run decoy though).

1. Server Balance
2. Night capping affect on points
3. Make it more FUN

I was running a PU build with Staff|S/F. Was fun, switched to your trait lines and was more fun. I swapped out staff for shield, and its still fun. I think clone generation is a bit slower as you can’t get 3 out immediately but thats probably me being bad at mesmer.

Either way, more fun to play than my reaper/druid/berserker/ele.. for now

Edit: I only play wvw, so I use perplexing runes.

At first I was annoyed but then i found the siege sellers… Used to spend these on notaries but this works too.

It took me about 45 mins to run to get the smokescale/bristleback. Had a guildie who needed it, ask someone who has the WP and use one of the teleports (might cost some gems), and train.

Guildie did this at level 18 after porting to me.

I am australian so play odd times, worst case… send me a tell…

What about defender runes+shield (I saw that build floating around forums and was pretty decent).

Disclaimer: I abandoned warrior a while ago so probably a stupid comment

They should not be soulbound, but account bound. At the moment all you need to do is play until your XP bar is close to ticking over, log the character you want these on you, level up, log back to original toon.

This is annoying, may as well make them account bound.

I have fully completed elite specs on 4 toons via wvw (with some hero point roaming on quiet nights).

Thanks for the video, very tempted to fork out for a new set on my ele to play around with. Currently I wvw in mostly clerics/mix gear as auramancer support which is fun, but this seems like more fun.

I dont go out of my way to kill them but if they are in the way, they get killed. They can find a quiet place rather than around castles and keep

Some of the duellers are more than happy to pick off stragglers
