I think the stacking is not the problem. The problem are the corners.I don’t mind to stack with the group just don’t let bosses be pulled to the corners.Make them imune or something like that if they are pulled to a wall.
What advantage do you gain by pulling a boss into a corner. Please post a specific in game example where you have an advantage. I know of one, but I want to see your idea.
5 warriors, CoE p2.
What did I win?
CoE p1/2
Up to the Laser part should not cause any problems. It is possible to do the lasers with only 2 man, using teleports/shadowsteps and quickness altho I have never had the right timing (never had any problems 3-manning this part).
No need for quickness. Just need someone with a 900 teleport for the north side (Blink/Flash/Shadowtep) and someone with a pre-set teleport (Portal/FleshWurm/Trap) for the south. The margin of error is very small – about 200ms, so timing is crucial.
EDIT {
CoE p3 is possible, but only with a mesmer portal/thief shadowstep + quickness taking 2 lasers at the Inquest Specimen
}
No need for quickness nor portals. One takes the south cannon another takes both north ones. Keep running back and forth between north ones while the south one keeps firing on CD. After about 3 or so runs the shield will go down.
Basically all coe paths are duo’able. P2 is easiest, p3 is hardest, p1 is the most annoying. Heck, all paths would be solo’able if we find a way to somehow disable the laser grid alone. If only you can command your clones to do it with you…
There doesn’t need to be a fancy fix or implementation. A simple “/cinematic off” in chat should do the trick. “/cinematics on” would turn them back on and just “/cinematics” would echo the current setting.
Arah p1, where to Ancient Ooze is. Why do people yell at me for killing the Orrian Turrets on the other side of the room? Does killing it trigger apocalypse?
Will depend on the fight and player skill. Can rank anywhere from top 3 to the lowest 2. DPS is nice under ideal conditions, but the difficulty of sustaining 3 phantasms for the whole fight and lack of dps burst… we realistically rank on the bottom of the ladder.
However, under fringe instances such as Lupi, we definitely rank #1 <3
Mesmers in PvE are the utility & portal bots. If you want to be in meta, better learn to utilize them to their fullest.

GS + Sword/Focus with Mantra of Pain & Blink, running 6/6/2/0/0.
- GS for long range single target tagging.
- GS34/MoP for AoE 1,200 range tagging.
- Sword for melee tagging.
- Focus for on demand swiftness.
- Blink to catch up with the zerg.
- 6/6/2/0/0 to compliment it all

From my experience with EU pugs, the low AP pugs there are exceptionally horrible. No english, no idea what they’re doing, aggro everything in 5k radius, and then cuss at you for not ressing…
-.-
i just tested it again. in ac banner of discipline gives 14% crit chance. so depending on your build and group comp it will me too much i guess. idk if crit chance gets capped tho.
When you cap power you can invest in precision. This way you can reach 100% crit without the disc banner. As soon as you cap both power and prec banners lose their value, meaning there is no reason to take a warrior for a speedrun.
I did that part on my mes last night… no bugs. Was I just lucky?
Oh, so that’s what corpses were for. I killed all trash and then went back and rigged them all. Thought it was to implode the terrain or something…. fml

For a condi mes, sinister is a 5% dps increase over rabid and 13% over rampagers. For a power build, sinister is a 19% loss to zerk.
Assuming everything is ascended, zerk has 342 more power than sinister. How much % that would be will depend on your might stacks and your build.
Anyways, did some calc for a condi build (0/4/6/0/4, staff, 3 clones up):
- 4,612 dps – Berserker
- 5,380 dps – Rampager
- 5,752 dps – Rabid
- 6,070 dps – Sinister
And for a power build (6/4/0/0/4, sword aa, 2x Swordsmans + 1x Duelist)
- 5,869 dps – Berserker
- 5,843 dps – Assassins
- 4,756 dps – Sinister
All calc assume solo situations. Looks like Sinister is the “zerk” of the condi build – glassy as ****** but delivers awesome dps output.

The reason Rabid won was because of the Chaotic Transference and the Tuning Crystal. The trait convert 10% (197) and crystal converts 6% (118) of toughness into condition damage. That’s about extra 315 condi dmg (9 extra might stacks) just from the conversion. This makes Sigil of Bursting even more potent, which is a flat 6% condi dmg boost.
Ability to tank hits and not break your dps pressure due to your naturally high toughness is a nice bonus.
From my tests, rabid actually gives you more dps than rampagers. I wouldn’t be surprised if rabid would outperform sinister as well but I can’t vouch for that just yet.
Pretty much. Unless you are on top of your game and using everything at your disposal, you might as well roll a necro.
I’ve never done “raids” before but in my mind a Raid = 5hr extra difficult dungeon run in a 10 people party with an epic, exclusive reward at the end. I honestly wouldn’t mind something like that. In fact, I would love if ANet added something like that. I’d even buy GEMS to access something like that.
If you make some, voice narration is a must. Many mesmer tricks are very subtle and quick that often you completely miss it while watching the video, even if its subtitled.
I haven’t tested Mimic mostly because of how useless that utility is. But from the time I did play with it, it did copy the correct duration. Best course of action would be to get the bug on video and post it here for evaluation.
Wait, cm story mode too? Better check cof then, you could Blink past portal there too.
Anyone who knows what they’re doing uses Chrome.
Did you consume the potion mid-attack? Sword dmg fluctuates 10% so comparing dmg between 2 different flurries is risky business. Even with such low numbers, 91 should have jumped to 100, not 99.
Buying groceries is assisted cheating because you are skipping the laborious farming of your own produce.
LFG sellers = Wall Mart. Confirmed.
I use a hybrid sort of PU build on my second mesmer in dungeons. (0/4/6/4/0)
Please, just don’t. PU in PvE is worse than cancer. Its only use is for ooc trash skipping.

They kicked you because they didn’t want you. It’s that simple and is not an abuse.
If you want people to play with, make your own “HOTW lfm p1 exp, nice people only” lfg.

Yesterday I got myself a PU condi mes pug in Arah. Scepter/Torch + Staff. Worst of all, I initiated the kick and someone triggered a cutscene effectively securing his place in the run. He was justifying himself that his “build is made for Arah, reflects and trash skipping”. I don’t think I ever wanted to rage at someone that bad in quite a while…

Make all dungeons a wide flat room with monsters that respawn 2 every time you kill 1.
In my opinion the tank should have hp of tequatl and retaliation
So evil. I like that.
200 hours in game, 15 cof runs…. and you’re telling that you know better than people who sunk 5k+ hours and ran almost every path in the game at least 500 times EACH? I don’t think we have been insulted that much in a long time…
Basically your thread is you poking us in the eye with a stick and expect us to sit quiet. Nope, not going to happen. Or maybe you feel angry that someone else might come along later and get the same level of reward for what you consider to be “less” work.
In short: yes. If you’ve spent 5k hours doing the same thing over and over again then you’ve become numb, or jaded, and you know only this one way of doing things and the idea of changing them is actually scary or abhorrent.
Nobody is their right mind would do same thing over and over for 5k hours without going insane. Those 5k hours consist of running same DUNGEONS for 2 years. Over those 2 years we’ve ran them with all possible gear types, all possible builds, all possible classes, all possible party compositions, all possible strategies. From that experience we know for a fact what is faster and what is slower AND what is more and what is less work. I am numb but not from running same thing over and over, I’m numb from watching all you pugs running inside the dungeon like headless chickens (or stacking thinking it will solve everything) thinking you are making it easier where in fact you’re only making it unnecessarily harder for yourself.
The idea of changing the way the dungeon runs is quite appealing to me. Quite often in my “exp zerks only” pug runs at the start of the dungeon I will say “no stacking behind corners” and see how it plays out. It’s hilarious seeing those only-200-hours-ingame players like you fail miserably and panic as soon as the dungeon is run with a strategy different than what is considered acceptable, yet me being in a full glass setup still be alive and finish the boss after the rest of the party is kissing the floor.
Nobody is angry that you may get same reward for “less” work. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. It’s the veteran players that get more reward (gold/tokens) for running the paths much faster/easier than how your average player would run it.
As it was suggested here, make your own lfg and advertise it as “not a speedrun, kill everything, smell the roses” and the players who join you will be of the same mindset as you, and your run will be exactly what you want it to be. Is that concept too difficult for you to grasp?

After running countless pug runs I came to conclusion that the general public views “exp only” as “I may have run this path before at least one time” and nothing more.
I would say the opposite. If you can’t kill off the endless mobs fast enough you’ll get overwhelmed and die. Zerk Meta™
A d/d thief. Drop aggro like nobody’s business. Why take the dmg when you can force your party take all the hits instead!
mordremoth teeth deal less damage the closer you are and are subject to glancing blows.
That’s a myth. All teeth hit equally hard and no, his hits do not glance.
Now this is something I can’t really confirm but I’ve noticed that this particular attack is either not being triggered as often or does not do the same amount of damage when all the players are stacked on Alpha as it would do when you have people running around the room. I think I’ve noticed that when Alpha is in the very corner next to the door for example and everyone is stacked on him, the earth spikes will even go up the walls instead of hitting the party.
There are few specific corners where alpha’kittenbox center is same spot as the wall (not 0.000001 away from the wall as probably should have been) and therefore his attack starts on the wall and not the floor where all the players are stacked (0.00001 from the wall). It’s nice but with all that cleave unless everyone is EXACTLY in the corner alpha will get pushed out and then RIP goes your stacksploit. (example)
The other thing you’re seeing is often when you range alpha hits you with multiple teeths. The teeth overlap and many times you get hit by two, not one, teeth. When stacked in a corner the 2nd tooth is too far and can’t reach you so you’re hit with only one. If you move out even ~200 from alpha’s center then you’ll bite the 2nd tooth as well and welp, you know how much that hurts on a zerk ele. (example of eating 2 teeths)
Don’t stack on Alpha. It does more bad than good.
Stacking in a corner makes the whole party eat the Teeth of Mordremoth (directional cone shaped earth spikes that get bigger further they are from alpha) in p1/3 and will quickly wear down your party the longer you fight. Be in melee but surround him in a tight circle. This way only the person who gets focused will take dmg and rest of the party can attack in peace. If someone goes down, rez ASAP. Getting downed on Alpha is very unforgiving.
If your hp pool is low then in p1/2 dodge/block as soon as Alpha raises his hand and glows with fire. This is to avoid getting burned.
For p2, dodge out for the AoE attack and pause for 1s. As soon as he summons dragon tooth run back in to attack. This way you’ll avoid AoE as well as the burning attack all with a single dodge. Burning gets applies only if you’re within ~250 of Alpha and a single dodge thrown you farther than that making Alpha summon the tooth over you instead of applying burn on you.
If you plan on dragging out the fights then bring vigor and evades/blocks. No vigor is viable only when you zerk dps him down quickly but if you fight longer than ~30s then you will run out of endurance and die.
CoE p1, consoles. Nobody in a party was zerk enough to defend the 1/4 so I had to step up. As a mesmer, all green armor, green runes/sigils, half the traits/utilities missing. Defended it like a champ right up until… one pug decides to stop channeling at 99% because he thought voiceover meant his channel was done. I think this was the only time I actually ragequit in coe. Where did I hear stories that EU pugs were better ;_;
I believe Alpha’s Essense is Elemental. Just got Elemental slaying achievement while fighting him, which means something Elemental died while he was still alive…
I don’t know the encounter but judging by amount of Evaded pop-ups and dmg caused by reflects is impressive. Good job!
Easiest fix is to just put some useless skills as your underwater skills.
I wish I could do that. All pre-charged mantras are lost as soon as you even step in a puddle of water if you don’t have the same ones equipped underwater…
Two ways to carry a pug – offensive support or defensive support. Guard is easiest for defensive, warrior easiest for offensive. For a good balance of offensive/defensive, engi. For moral support, go necro.

Ok, that was embarrassing. Have absolutely no clue how I managed to miss something that obvious…
