Enjoy coe but hate constantly re-doing the pre? See my sig (latest vid). Enjoy

Note the “Zerk with Scholars” vs. “Assassins with Rangers”. If we were to compare gear stats runes should be kept consistent across both sets. The runes alone can account for up to ~2% (if my memory serves me right) difference in dps.
And yes, contradiction may arise because some generalize their math and some account for every single bit, like proc’ing bleeding from phantasms, vuln from our sword aa, usage of blurred frenzy in rotation, startup rotation, etc…
I’ll definitely be re-doing my math after the patch as soon as I verify that skill coefficients and attack rates are still the same for phantasms and our sword. It has happened before like with Warden where ANet lowered their skill coefficient as well as changed the attack rate yet didn’t put anything in the patch notes to let us know.
even though assassins is known to have slightly less dps than berserkers
That’s a common misconception. Assassins (edit: armor and weapons, trinkets are zerk) at full buffs is higher dps than Berserker.
If you’re capping precision, use food that has other stats such as Power/Ferocity. Otherwise, the only time you should be hitting over 100% is when you have a ranger in a party.

I keep the Phantasmal Haste wiki page up to date. Afaik the phantasm specific pages aren’t maintained so they might be outdated or wrong.
Is making runs slower gonna make the game funnier? /sigh
I find playing the attrition/sustain game against pugs quite entertaining. The feeling of being last one alive is too good.
I post a “p123 experienced zerks only” lfg for CoE. People join and leave immediately, most likely due to my low AP (second account). Now I can’t post lfg because I became suppressed due to “excessive messaging”. Ok, guess I’ll join other lfgs to get my coe fix. Nope, not happening. Being kicked on sight even after saying this isn’t my 1st account.
Fine, I’ll solo this kitten. Just before clearing the first trash – dc.
Great…
Is it me or did anet change lupi this patch. 2nd run and lupi doesn’t do his frenzied blast the whole p2.
As much as I love exploiting, I’d vote no to taking advantage of obvious unintentional game mechanics. That includes lupi bombs/interrupts, icebow meteor shower focusing, and clever JP gate jumping. Leave that for unrestricted runs.

Sorry, my eyes playing tricks on me.
See the use of FGJ at 0:37 and the spike in health. What messed me up was that healing signet heal tick coincided with the FGJ use AND it was also higher than normal due to the fact that he had no poison on him at that time.
Use the meta 6/6/0/0/2 build and use Greatsword Training instead of the Signet Mastery trait. The rest will be the same – greatsword + sword/focus or + sword/sword.
Using that signet actually may be mandatory. I was doing some tests and noticed an interesting bug:
Staff clone, with SoI equipped
- 6,527 HP
Staff clone, w/out SoI equipped
- 2,433 HP – for first 2.2 sec
- 4,171 HP – 2.2 sec after summon
This calls for a bug test to be conducted. Do staff clones really have ~44% less HP for the first 2.2 sec when they are summoned? Is that just client-side bug or both client and server side bug?
This is how I noticed the problem:

Yeah it can be awesome, as you probably seen that condi solo of the champ wolf I uploaded – hella tanky yet still dishing out mad dps. The problem is that staff builds are plagued by the same problem as the phantasm builds – you gotta keep 3 clones out at all times for max dps because otherwise you’ll be hitting like a newbie necro. It’s worth noting that clones are much more squishy than phantasms so they’ll die quicker too. Fortunately, with Deceptive Evasion and Staff you’re pretty much a clone factory and with Rabid your and clone toughness will be quite high so that may be a non issue on some encounters but in ones where the enemy has a lot of cleave it might be a pain to sustain high dps.

For some professions yeah, but I’m not sure it is the case for mesmers. But I didn’t test that so we would need a confirmation from frifox for it (if he tested it)
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/Sinister-armor/first#post4540879
Looks a little outdated now.
Thewardens feedbackseveral builds is using signet mastery with no signets for example.
The second domination slot would probably better serve taking mental torment or rending shatter. direct damage vs vuln stack output depending.
You do not shatter in a phantasm build. If you do then it’s only at the end, where stacking vuln is pointless since the mob is probably dead anyways so you’d choose Mental Torment instead of Rending Shatter. If you expect the fight to last around 5 sec or less then you equip the mantra heal and start with 2 phantasms + BF and then shatter (illusionary leap is too long of a cast and is not worth the dps downtime). For longer fights you take the signet for heal, start the fight with 3 phantasms, and then try to keep 3 phantasms out as much as you can and the lower CD signet helps a lot.
Realistically though, mesmers swap in and out utilities so much betwen the fights that it’s just easier to leave the signet trait equipped at all times and save yourself the trouble of forgetting to re-equip it later.

I want class specific (solo) records. For example,
- Fastest Lupi kill
- Fastest Arah p1 completion
- Fastest Champ Krait Witch kill (open world pve)
- etc
I too want the fastest solo arah p1 completion.
/cough/ -sarcasm- /cough/
But yeah, those are only examples. Simply put, I don’t wish the content to be restricted to dungeons or dungeon paths only. I don’t wish for solo records to be restricted by the dungeon speedclear rulesets either. Consumables are almost necessary and actually lead to some clever tactics. I guess it’s possible to have the official solo records for popular content such as Lupi speedkills / Dungeon path solos for which weth should probably get multiple submissions of and then a somewhat hidden “misc” category for less popular content which may get only 1 submission or so.
I want class specific (solo) records. For example,
- Fastest Lupi kill
- Fastest Arah p1 completion
- Fastest Champ Krait Witch kill (open world pve)
- etc
I’m ok with exploiting lupi, both with reflects and interrupts, both in pugs and in record runs.
war: i’m full zerk
me: you’re not
war: i have 6 pts in tactics
me: still, not zerk
war: [links 2 zerk pieces] see?
me: your 26k hp says otherwise
…. kick ….
why do some people insist on bullkittenting so hard
No need for haste. Just teleport to the 2nd console right as the previous one is in aftercast. It’ll be tight but doable. If you want I can provide a video, it’s somewhere on my YouTube just have to dig it up.
Current best condi build for PvE:

Or, how I do it on gw2dps, detect screen resolution and then calculate the appropriate anchor points for all elements. Simple and dynamic.
We also had about close 30k DPS on Champion Icebrood Wolf and the Golem boss with 3 eles (1 nomad guard, 1 mesmer), XD. So I’m not sure how to interpret this metrics.
Those are dps numbers I’ve been seeing in lvl 80 dungeons, ie CoE and Arah.
Personal experience, not a law:
2k ea / 10k dps – phiw casuals
4k ea / 20k dps – average “zerk” pugs
6k ea / 30k dps – good zerk pugs
8k ea / 40k dps – meta pugs
10k ea / 50k dps – meta guild runs
14k ea / 70k dps – elesploits
There is another tool that draws allies/enemies on minimap/map for you. It uses gw2 native functions too so hovering over the dot displays their name. IMO coding minimap overlay from scratch would be a bit too much. However, if you still want to, there is an offset that stores minimap zoom level so you can use that as a base for calculating how far away agent is relative to minimap center. Or, just draw a custom map in the middle of the screen, though that would mean you’ll have to give up terrain overlay.
btw, I’m beginning to suspect this discussion disappearing soon. Pretty sure mods won’t like this.
Probably other offsets? I’ll sniff around with CE a bit having an ally near me changing his stats. If that doesn’t lead to anything, then I guess gw2 doesn’t give you information about others stats.
By the way, how would you make ui elements drag able? Register clicks on them and change the ss’s cordinates to GetCursorPos() until mouse button goes up? Sounds like a little overcomplicated.
Could be different offsets, not sure though. I really should fire up my bruteforce offset searcher, scans all possible offsets 2 to 5 offset deep for a target value. If there is an offset, it’ll find it
Not sure about drag-able elements, haven’t bothered figuring it out. If I were to try, I’d look up some already existing dx9 ui libraries first. Best to avoid re-inventing the wheel.
So automatic enemy armor calculator would be possible if you can get your own stats and calculate min/max damage?
Yep that’s possible, always was. Never actually coded it since it’s a highly specific algorithm that wouldn’t be flexible. I figured it was better to keep the app simple and do the specific math calcs in excel instead.
My core-stat-reading thingy got me only this far:
- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PtHyHgk9ns
Can see stats for myself and my pets/summons, and that’s it. Allies, Enemies, NPCs, etc are all returing 0’s…
if (agLocked.GetType() == GW2::AGENT_TYPE_CHAR)
{
int stats[7] {};
stats[0] = 0; // power
stats[1] = 0; // precision
stats[2] = 0; // toughness
stats[3] = 0; // vitality
stats[4] = 0; // ferocity
stats[5] = 0; // healing
stats[6] = 0; // condition
unsigned long shift;
shift = *(unsigned long*)agLocked.m_ptr;
shift = *(unsigned long*)(shift + 0x30);
shift = *(unsigned long*)(shift + 0x138);
stats[0] = *(unsigned long*)(shift + 0x18c + 0x4 * 0);
stats[1] = *(unsigned long*)(shift + 0x18c + 0x4 * 1);
stats[2] = *(unsigned long*)(shift + 0x18c + 0x4 * 2);
stats[3] = *(unsigned long*)(shift + 0x18c + 0x4 * 3);
stats[4] = *(unsigned long*)(shift + 0x18c + 0x4 * 4);
stats[5] = *(unsigned long*)(shift + 0x18c + 0x4 * 5);
stats[6] = *(unsigned long*)(shift + 0x18c + 0x4 * 6);
ss << format("\nPower - %i") % stats[0];
ss << format("\nPrecision - %i") % stats[1];
ss << format("\nToughness - %i") % stats[2];
ss << format("\nVitality - %i") % stats[3];
ss << format("\nFerocity - %i") % stats[4];
ss << format("\nHealing - %i") % stats[5];
ss << format("\nCondition - %i") % stats[6];
}
afaik gw2 does not provide you with ally stats. I have the offsets and all that but it just shows 0’s for their attributes. However, your pets and summons DO return valid attribute stats
Funny enough, you also CAN see how much wvw supply your enemy is carrying so there is still hope!

Shadowplay. If I need to dub some music I use mp4box & Adobe Audition. No video reencoding or compression takes place so the editing times and quality are unbeatable.
So,
Zerk Gear
- Killtime: 1 min
- Effort: 0.8 (80%)
Nomad Gear
- Killtime: 30 min
- Effort: 0.0 (0%)
Zerk: 1 × 0.8 = 0.8
Nomad: 30 × 0.0 = 0.0
With my high level math I just proved that nomad gear provides the best balance between time and effort, and therefore is the most optimal gear.
The meta is wrong. Casuals are right. You’re welcome.

If you’re an addict like me, get full stacks of +10% potions for all the dungeons. You’ll probably make the same amount of gold spent on potions in one day, with potions lasting you around few months.
Of course that test alone is not enough. However, it did reaffirmed my conclusion which I came to from my past experience with mesmer business. Even with multiple conditions the dmg increase would not be enough to overtake the gs kill time, which is the goal after all.
If you want, give an example of a test or situation that would prove staff to be better than gs.
So I did a small test. Solo’d Ancient Ooze from Arah p1. Both tests used same assassins/zerk gear, same 1,200 range, same 6/4/0/0/4 build, and same ideal conditions where all 3 phantasms were alive for the whole encounter. Ooze had on average of 2 conditions on him except for the times when I used Chaos Storm where conditions spiked to about 3 or 4 conditions.
- GS + 3 Berserkers = 3 min 33 sec
- Staff + 3 Warlocks = 5 min 25 sec
The results are conclusive. At range, gs > staff.
Haha this is gold. Reminds me of my usual /sleep mode Ancient Ooze kills while I wait for my lfgs to fill. Long live mesploits!
I ran with groups that tried to establish a meta when the game begun and I can tell you our only intent was to get dungeon tokens and silver faster.
Correct. I was one of those people and yes, the goal was to find a strategy that took the least effort yet was the fastest at delivering me the silver and token rewards. Dungeons were not run for “fun”, it was the end rewards all along.
Anet has already commented on reddit that they don’t care if people use 3rd party dps meter as long as it isn’t used in pvp for unfair advantage. Many people already have been using it.
Where? I don’t remember seeing such comment…
Direct DPS for Warlock / Berserker / Swordsman at 25 might:
- 771 dps – Berserker (3 hits)
- 804 dps – Warlock (0 condis)
- 884 dps – Warlock (1 condis)
- 973 dps – Warlock (2 condis)
- 1,028 dps – Berserker (4 hits)
- 1,070 dps – Warlock (3 condis)
- 1,177 dps – Warlock (4 condis)
- 1,294 dps – Warlock (5 condis)
- 1,314 dps – Swordsman
- 1,424 dps – Warlock (6 condis)
- 1,566 dps – Warlock (7 condis)
- 1,723 dps – Warlock (8 condis)
- 1,895 dps – Warlock (9 condis)
- 2,085 dps – Warlock (10 condis)
- 2,293 dps – Warlock (11 condis)
- 2,523 dps – Warlock (12 condis)
It’s not easy to keep 6+ condis on the enemy at all times which is why the Swordsman is the phantasm of choice. Duelist dps is near Swordsman level and is not dependent on the condis like Warlock. Might as well stick with the proper melee weapon and spawn a duelist instead of the Warlock at the start of the fight.
It will never added, so no worries.
Not by ANet. Community on the other hand…
Is broken. Fix please.
Using staff for trash skipping is a horrible idea too since to leap forward without turn/blink/turn you will have to target something behind you, which will put you in combat. Do yourself a favor and just carry around a PVT armor set with centaur runes for trash skips. That + mantra is all you need to make even the hardest skips in Arah. Perma swiftness and all your available stealth sources are more than enough to make all trash skips without even getting in combat.
Staff is a terrible weapon for dungeons because of these 3 reasons. It’s power based dps is horrible, it doesn’t cleave, and even with 3 clones out it’s effectiveness drops like a rock as soon as there is 1 or more enemy and/or ally near your target.
After hitting the enemy, traited aa has 2 bounces. Ideally it’ll bounce to you for a chance of might/fury and then right back to the enemy for more condition pressure. If you keep this rotation up along with 3 clones then your condi dps will be amazing (~5k) However, keeping up this ideal rotation is like juggling 5 balls while doing a rodeo.
As soon as one of your clones gets closer to the enemy than you, the WoC orb will bounce to that clone and not you, which will interrupt your fury and might source (applying fury/might to clones does absolutely nothing) and halve your dps. If some npc ends up closer to your target than you, result is the same – you lose your fury/might. If a party members is closer to enemy than you then he will have a chance at some might/fury and only him, everyone else in the party including you get absolutely nothing. If you need to range then orbs will not bounce since they are limited to around 1,200 range for all 3 jumps combined, which forces you to melee which pretty much nullifies the whole purpose of staff and you might as well use sword. With 3 clones up your dps split is 70% from clones so if any of them die to enemy cleave/aoe – you lose a massive chunk of your dps. If you run into a boss you can’t crit, you lose around half of bleeds since Sharper Images won’t proc. If you run into a structure then you’re completely out of the game because they are immune to conditions. Arah p1 entities are no go either because the power debuff doesn’t scale up your condi dmg so you’re pretty much useless. If you run into a boss that reflects, your dps will be 0 because your and your clone aa is a projectile.
The only valid use for staff in dungeons is spawning warlock, dropping chaos storm, and immediately swapping to sword and never going back to staff till boss is dead. All other staff skills have zero value for dungeons. If you absolutely have to range, please just use the gs.
