Mesmer can be good might stackers by camping staff with 3 clones (0/4/6/0/4). This heavily implies a condition build which is a big no no for dungeon parties. If you’re solo it’s perfectly viable and is quite forgiving for the dps you’ll be doing. Under min/maxed dps scenario you will have at least 10 to 15 might on yourself for the whole encounter.
Got myself an alt account and sent one single dye (Abyss) to it from my main because looking good is important. Now I can’t chat in guild nor pm anyone on niether my main nor the new account. These anti-spam systems are just absurd…
When did norn elite dashes got nerfed? Tried it today, more like rp walking compared to the original dash…
Looks like Phantasmal Haste is not the only thing they broke for warden. They nerfed wardens dps as well.
Pre-patch wardens weilded exotic lvl 80 axes (20% dmg spread) and had 0.275 coefficent. Now after some post-patch dps tests, it seems that wardens now weild a sword (10% dmg spread) and have 0.268 coefficient (a ~2.7% nerf). The only way to explain that is to assume that in PvE wardens now weild an exotic lvl 78 sword. Lvl 78 exotics is what players weild in PvP… :/
I have tested swordsman under same conditions as well and it’s still exactly the same as pre-patch which means my math is correct and warden is the one that got nerfed.
edit: the warden tooltips still use pre-patch data, which further makes me believe that in-game dmg was stealth nerfed or is just bugged.
(edited by frifox.5283)
Yeah, that’s what I meant. I also had trouble whirl actually clearing the conditions but lately I’ve been having a much higher success rate. Just posting to see if anyone else noticed the same or I’m just seeing a confirmation bias…
Has anyone been noticing that it’s much easier to remove conditions with iWarden now? Pre-patch I had to pay attention on where to drop the curtain but lately I’ve noticed that as long as I drop it inside the whirl I get my condis cleansed.
Tested Disruption’s Sustainment both in PvP and PvE, both work as intended.
Also, removed #22 (fixed) and added 2 more at the end, loss of mantra charges and mimic + far-reaching manipulations trait issue.
Also, replaced #1 (warden) with appropriate bug description and added #32 (staff 2).
Edited OP. Anything with a “(?)” in the title has not been tested/confirmed post Sept 9 patch.
Many were fixed. In fact, I actually am happy in the state mesmer is in now. Quite a relief that so many broken stuff got fixed. I probably should edit OP and remove bugs that aren’t an issue anymore and add the 2 new bugs that got introduced, the warden + ph. haste and the phase retreat being a projectile.
Btw was it always the case but I’m noticing that Defender will try and often miss his first attack. It’s as it he has trouble positioning himself for the 1st attack or his attack radius is not as big as intended.
I want a /partyinfo tool for my commander tag. Has to show your party members gear, traits, skills, how many times they ran the dungeon, and how many times they lied claiming to be “zerks”.
There are test dummies. Norn starring area (lvl 4 I think) and mt maelstrom inside a cave (lvl 63) are the ones I know. Also, can go bug out subject Alpha for a lvl 80 test dummy.
We can compare the defender to the Ele earth elementals as both more or less do the same job as the defender but on a higher cooldown & aren’t dependent on your enemy being alive. The lesser earth elemental is 24,656 hp and elite is 33,271 hp. Not sure about their toughness so can’t compare that to the defender.
My proposed base illusion hp for phantasms – 8,932 and defender – 13,399. This would mean fully buffed hp for phantasms – 15,185 (same as zerk mes) and defender – 22,778 (+50% as zerk mes). I haven’t tested if it’s the case but I would hope defender to have more toughness than other phantasms as well.
I do believe such hp increase is justified because currently, phantasms die too quick and defender while being in a better position than other phantasms still dies quicker than I would personally hope my “defender” to live, which is the reason for a lesser proposed hp boost compared to other phantasms.

Phantasms have drastically higher HP in PvE compared to PvP. This is something that has already been split, and could be further modified.
What would you consider a balanced HP for phantasms in PvE? Currently they’re at 5.8k. Personally, I feel like 8,930 is more fair. This way when you equip both signet and the trait your phantasms will match your HP but never surpass it. With phantasms always facetanking boss attacks at 0 toughness 8.9k will let it tank at least one or two hits before dying. Of course, in case of lupi’s kick they’ll still insta-die…
Re-tested illusion health values. Data pulled directly from gw2’s memory.
Clone
- 2,433 hp – PvP/WvW
- 2,433 hp – PvE
Phantasm
- 3,396 hp – PvP/WvW
- 5,821 hp – PvE
Defender
- 7,278 hp – PvP/WvW
- 12,476 hp – PvE
Tested while wvw hp bonus was 7% but afaik it doesn’t affect illusion hp… unless anet changed that as well… :/
Mes is in meta only thanks to the people who are able to pull off mesmer strengths to the max – reflects and portal. Mesmer direct DPS is quite amazing but only in theory. Too many variables to keep in check to pull that off. Realistically, average mes will do about the same dps as a dagger necro. In fact, under full buffs I’d even go as far as assuming that necro will actually out-dps the mesmer right up to about 10s into the fight.
If only our phantasms had the same HP as their owner, but that would completely ruin PvP balance so we PvE’rs are stuck with paper summons…
Here we go again. /grabspopcorn

“>You’re an idiot[…]
Thats why i assumed, you polite kitten.”Best part of that.
The poor guy has negative karma now… x.x
The wiki numbers were made by me, though that was like a year ago. Unless ANet changed their hp the numbers should be correct.
Brilliant. A way for mesmers to teleport ENEMIES against their will. Thank you ANet <3
Now, does enemy 1,200 range teleport follow the standard LoS/Terrain logic as Blink?
I think I need to upgrade my facepalm emote. My epic picard facepalm is not enough for this one…
Equip PU and chain stealth to avoid them all. Take breaks on safespots to recharge the cooldowns. Oh, and Harpy Feathers
Just thinking out loud but… could Mimic was originally intended to mimic enemy transformations and conjures too? Could actually make the skill useful and not just a lame copy of Arcane Thievery
Sometimes I wish I did fotm and actually had a clue what’s the fuss is all about in this solo. What makes this solo special?
Is this sarcasm?
Sadly, not sarcasm. Last time I ran fotm was when fractals came out and even then only got to lvl 5 before deciding it’s something I won’t enjoy. Granted, my pug runs back then we’re all complete fails so that may have contributed to my dislike of that place.
Sometimes I wish I did fotm and actually had a clue what’s the fuss is all about in this solo. What makes this solo special?
It’s not exactly because of the attack frequency but rather because it relies on certain amount of unique conditions to be present on your enemy before warlock becomes higher dps than all other phantasms.
Yep I blew my TW, which afaik increases dps by about 40% when I did calculations a few months ago.

Last night ran coe3 with an odd party comp – mesmer, necro, engi, ranger, and a bannerkitten. Managed to kill the evolved destroyer before the shield even started blinking. So much for the “3rd world classes do crap dps” popular belief going around XD
I skimmed the math real quick … did you incorporate illusion bleeds from having 3+ in Dueling? I didn’t see it.
Yes, the DPS value includes all the variables. If you want to check how the numbers were obtained, feel free to dig around here:
It’s a very fine line between the gear types so instead of splitting the hairs I chose to do the stupid, I’m crafting two full ascended sets – zerk and assassins. The plan is to carry them both in inventory and swap in-and-out depending on the situation at hand.
Solo/pug? All zerk. Organized speedrun? All assassins. Spotter? Half zerk, half assassins. Organized spotter? De-equip Blade Training and swap in zerk until I’m right at 100% crit.
There is no definitive answer as it will change depending on your build, gear, and the encounter. What’s your build and gear atm?
(edited by frifox.5283)
Everyone forgets to but you know, you can even auto-attack while waiting for even more deeps!
I actually had it bug out 50/50 on the two golems at the end of SEp2. Might need to re-run the path and get it on video.
It won’t be as effective as the staff, but here’s a good starting point for the scepter:
ps: don’t even think about bringing this to a dungeon <3
I tried a 0/4/6/0/4 (no pu) staff build in pvp vs a friend. Let clones live – die to conditions, kill them as I spawn them – still die to clone death condis, focus me down asap – still dies before getting me to even half health. The rabid gear, 6pts into toughness line, and 3% less dmg from enemies per clone out worked wonders. Granted, he was a warrior so I didn’t have much trouble.
I didn’t try the build anywhere else though so can’t vouch for how it fares against other classes. I can see it being very weak to condi builds and non-cleave single target burst classes such as thieves.
Don’t worry, anet broke phantasmal haste for wardens… so they’re even more useless
Tell me this was a joke pls ;c
Not a joke. Better yet, they actually increased the idle time for the warden by 0.5 seconds compared to pre-patch non-phantasmal-haste idle time… So while they did fix the most (but not all) bugs after like 1 whole year of trying, they also managed to hit the poor phantasms with a %$&@-sized nerfbat.
edit: what Tom Yzf said… lol
When I was playing with staff in PvE I’ve noticed retal dmg fluctuating. Could be explained by the fluctuating might stacks on myself, which made my power stat fluctuate, which in turn would imply that retal uses YOUR power stat and not enemy’s (enemy had no boons).
Actually, there is a way to stack 25 for the champ solo. I just was too lazy to do it. Anyways, no better engi times? How about necro, weren’t they the kings of condi builds?
(edited by frifox.5283)
So, pre patch the attack/spin frequency for warden was:
- 13.704 sec – Without PH
- 12.307 sec – With PH
Now, post patch:
- 14.180 sec – Without PH
- 14.180 sec – With PH
Basically, without PH it takes 0.5sec longer before iWarden spins again and with PH, about 1.875 sec longer. This, in addition to the “fix” where warden doesn’t reflect after animation stops any longer, is pretty much a kitten sized nerfbat to the iWarden’s reflect uptime.
PS: for 1 Warden + 2 Swordsmans setup, the warden nerf was effectively a 2% dps nerf for direct damage mesmers as a whole…

You’re running a build specifically for a single trick that takes you mentally out of the fight at hand. It’s a dumb gimmick.
Build? I think you meant “only two utilities”.
First, six minutes of stability? What. How does that work? Can engis stack stability or?
It was a unique case and I had time to equip skills. Engi dropped his mortar that gave him 2 min of stabo. Mimic + Arcane thievery = 4 mins. Push/pull him away from the mortar. When he came back on his mortar my skills were off cd and I robbed 4 more mins of stabo. Granted, that engi was my friend so he didn’t mind… XD
I could definitely see a combo with Arcane Thievery in zerging. Necro pops lich/plague form (20 sec stabo). You copy + steal it for 40 sec of stability and then moa the poor guy to rub it in. Since you know, veil bots need only one utility to be viable… a Veil.
(edited by frifox.5283)
my average output went from 6764 damage per second to 9478. And that’s only from the condition side of the build.
I’m very interested in how you managed to pull off 9.5k dps, in a condition build. Care to elaborate?
The new Mimic is also situational. However, what the hell situation is it useful in? When you’re facing one guy with a bunch of buffs?
Earlier today, stole 6 min of stability off an engi…
Tested, luckily warden is the only one that was broken. Phantasmal Haste still does affect other phantasms as intended.
