And if you use that email and password combination at other sites, change your password at those other sites as well.
If you want to play a pvp game where you can say whatever you want whenever you want without ever getting suspended or banned, GW2 clearly isn’t for you. I suggest doing some google searches to try to find one that is better suited for the play style you’re looking for.
Just fyi, I have heard the second suspension is a week.
That may be the problem. Could you have had your account set to remember your login and password? If it was your account on your computer, even if it was not you, support will still hold you responsible. All you can do at this point is wait for Gaile to look at your ticket.
The op seems determined to believe that anyone who has access to his account wouldn’t do anything bad, even though many of us know that’s not always the case.
In any event, there is absolutely nothing any of us can do that will help him figure out what the issue is, from what I have read based on the responses above. He’ll just have to wait for follow-up from support, or Gaile if she’s willing to look at the ticket.
You can’t trust anyone with your account info. It doesn’t matter if it’s someone you have known for 30 years. People give away other people’s account info intentionally and unintentionally. If you want to make sure your own account info is secure, you need to use a strong password that you haven’t used anywhere else and never, under any circumstances, give away your account info or let someone use your account..
If you filed a ticket, there’s nothing the forum can do for you. I doubt they’ll release it as it sounds too much like a variation of a certain obscenity.
I’ve used the auto-run provided by the game but have never been able to just run from one side of a zone to the other side. I always get stuck behind things repeatedly. I must be in the wrong zones!
I got one of these to. I only started an account recently and now I receive this email. This is either a coincidence, or arenanet have a data leak. I’m betting it’s a leak, it usually is in this situations :/
Actually, no it’s usually not a leak, unless massive email lists floating around the Internet for years is what you’d consider a leak. Your email address is floating around in one or more mailing lists possessed by spammers and probably available for download or exchange. Once it gets on a spam list, you will likely get spam forever at that address. Your email address has probably been available in those lists for a long time, long before you registered for GW2.
I have used several hundred email addresses the past several years, and I get a lot of spam. I do mean a lot. A lot of it goes to addresses that I used for sites that are no longer around. Some of it goes to email addresses I have never used, ever, anywhere.
Sign up for enough services and you’ll start to see patterns re: where the spam comes from. ArenaNet isn’t to blame.
If she can sign into the GW2 forums, she might be able to retrieve her password from her browser’s cache. If that fails, she (not you) will need to file a support ticket. She should read this for info on what to put in the ticket: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/How-to-Submit-a-Ticket-Account-Issues-2/first#post3954
If 3 days have passed since you submitted a ticket and you haven’t heard a response, you can post your ticket number in the 3-day stickied thread. ArenaNet / Gaile doesn’t want people to create a ticket and then immediately post here in the forum hoping to speed the process up as that doesn’t work.
In any case, if what you said really was severe enough to warrant a 2-week suspension, I suspect that doing the same thing again could result in a permanent ban. Might wanna just put the person on ignore next time to avoid all of this.
Her mail is probably filled up. If she checks her in-game mail and sees 10/10, she will need to delete some messages to get yours to appear.
Sadly, like many messages here, I don’t think a lot people will read your post before sending a PM.
Unfortunately this is probably true. A lot of people don’t even glance at the stickied threads.
As long as you don’t respond to a phishing email by giving a malicious person your 6-digit number either via email or web site or sms or anything else (I’ve seen that happen with a different product at a company where I used to work), the mobile authenticator is a great service to use. I’d not go without it.
My point was that filing multiple tickets (from multiple people) about one single incident, when people know that the others are filing a report for the same thing, probably isn’t going to speed things up. After the first report arrives, a GM will likely check the logs for harassment and act accordingly. Other tickets that come in for the exact same thing will require a GM’s attention for something that was already handled, when instead that GM could be handling tickets for other issues. I doubt customer service folks sit on a harassment ticket until a certain quota of tickets is reached for that incident.
Your friend should be able to update his ticket. ArenaNet doesn’t want multiple tickets for the same thing, so if your friend has questions he should update his existing ticket.
I don’t know what ArenaNet’s policy is on this situation, such as whether they look at the account creation date vs the date when the card was reported stolen. He might be stuck with the ban. The best thing he can do is try to work something out with support.
First, delete the personal info in that post. You just gave people part of the info they need to claim an account.
Second, your friend will need to file a ticket with support. If his email account is blocked in the support system, he can create a separate support account. He will need to provide enough info to prove he is the account holder.
There is a stickied thread in this forum with info on what to provide in a support ticket.
How long have you waited? There is a stickied thread for people who have waited at least 3 days for a response, but that is for account-specific issues. I don’t know if issues with other players falls into that category.
I doubt filing multiple tickets (via multiple people) for the same incidents is going to help speed things up.
Some people are perma-banned and get this reason: “Your Guild Wars 2 account has been terminated due to botting, extended unattended play, using macros, or similar behavior.”
I’d consider parking your character in an area and using a spam skill while you go afk to be “unattended play”. You might not get an official answer. If you try it and get perma-banned, let us know somehow.
I suggest NOT doing this. ArenaNet has made it very very clear that you should be controlling your character at all times, and gaining xp or anything else (such as completion of a daily) while afk goes against that basic prinicple. Yes you could try what you are suggesting, but is it worth the risk? Actively play the game you purchased and you shouldn’t have any problems.
When he tries to sign in there should be a reason listed as to why his account was suspended.
There is a 3-day ticket sticky the ticket number can be added to if 3 days have passed since (a) the ticket was last updated by your friend and (b) no response was received. Posting the ticket number here, outside the 3-day sticky thread, won’t help your friend get faster resolution.
When you try changing your password, are you in the guildwars2.com web site? And not guildwars2.abc.xyz?
If you are using common passwords (many people do), you are going to get that message. I suggest coming up with a few different passwords you want to use, combining them, and adding a few numbers or symbols. I suspect you are using passwords on the blocked list.
Also, if your email password is the same or similar to your GW2 password, you should change your email password, preferably to something longer and more random.
Most likely your login credentials are the same as the credentials you use on a different site, but just in case I suggest running an antivirus scan on your PC.

If you are 100% sure your billing information is correct, you may need to contact support to see why your billing info is not being accepted. Please read this sticky to find out how to submit a ticket: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/How-to-Submit-a-Ticket-Account-Issues-2
If it has been 3 full days since your guild member last heard anything with his ticket, the ticket number can be posted in the stickied 3-day thread here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Tickets-for-Review-3-days-and-older-merged
But only if 3 days have passed since your friend last heard anything. It doesn’t matter how long he’s been unable to log in. The 3-days is in regard to the time a response was last received in the ticket.
Also, I recommend not posting “testimonials” about your friend. That’s frowned upon by ArenaNet and won’t help your friend’s ticket at all.
It’s mob mentality. Ranger keeps getting nerfed every patch because when it’s played well at the top level it’s as good if not stronger than most of the other professions. The class, however, can be played very poorly much like a thief.
Then I will definitely have to level one up. Nothing wrong with a challenge.
Op, you might not realize this, but not everyone can play the game as much as you do. Some people are raising families and going to school and working. If we could all spend a lot of time playing the game then yes I’d say 12 hours isn’t much, but some of us have things like long work hours.
Is there a specific error message your getting with any payment method? If you can search the forums for that message you might find what’s going on. If it continues you might have to file a support ticket.
Can you try selecting a different payment method (just the option, don’t actually pay that way) and then re-selecting the credit card?
First read this and see if this applies to you: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Ascended-Return-Policy-Please
If you did the same thing the people in that thread did, file a support ticket here: http://support.guildwars2.com
and explain
- what you did
- why you can’t use the item
- what you would like refunded/returned to you
Also read this to find what other info you should include in the ticket: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/How-to-Submit-a-Ticket-Account-Issues-2/first#post3954
They don’t care about hackers. I see players pop in and pop out of nearly every node I harvest…
“nearly every node”? That seems like an exaggeration. Are you reporting any of these supposed bots?
Interesting. People saying the ranger is the weakest makes me want to level one up just for the challenge. Thanks for doing this poll and for posting the summary.
Just to let you know, if you create tickets for accounts that you share with other people, and ArenaNet can not verify who the actual owner is, they might not be able to help you with tickets you submit.
Trying to get phishing sites shut down is, for the most part, a complete waste of time. They pop up like roaches. There are likely a lot of these sites sitting around waiting to be used.
I used to work for a company that would get a lot of phishing emails and instant messages. They were sent to the employees in an attempt to get employee credentials. The sites that these emails and messages pointed to would pop up left and right because it was just a matter of taking the same web host files and putting them on a different server. That can be done in minutes. Blocking the web sites accomplished nothing.
Update your ticket and ask if that’s the latest restoration they can give you.
If you know you aren’t getting a refund from the retailer where you bought the game, and I linked a thread where someone said ArenaNet wouldn’t give them a refund for their purchase from a retailer, what else is there to accomplish with this thread? I don’t think ArenaNet is going to change their refund policies.
Beautiful! I’d love to play a skritt in this game. Come on ArenaNet!
If they don’t give refunds then you are out of luck.
Of the times when I wanted a refund for something I bought, I have always gone to the place where I actually bought the item. If the thing I bought was digital, I have always gone to the company where I bought it. You are buying something from company A but expecting company B to give you a refund. I don’t see how that is going to happen.
From what person/company did you buy the digital version? If they have a web site I will go to the web site for you and look up their return policy and will post it here, just to help you out.
Apparently you can not get a refund directly from ArenaNet. Read this thread. Someone else asked the same thing and got a response: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Can-i-return-the-retail-version-of-game
By the way, I am not sure why you would expect this game to operate differently from other games in terms of refunds. Whenever I buy a computer or a game or a piece of furniture or anything else, and I want to return it, I always have take the item back to the retailer. Contacting the designer/manufacturer doesn’t get me a refund.
Search for this topic in the suggestions/idea forum and if it’s not already there, add it. But please search that forum first. Posting pvp ideas in the account support forum won’t do any good.
“Disrespect is returned with disrespect”
Followed by suspensions. With a lot of luck this will be your first and only suspension, because they only get longer from here on. It takes effort to type stuff out to someone. It takes a lot less effort to verbally say what you want to say. Be lazy and just use your voice. You will avoid suspensions.
How would ArenaNet determine if someone “accidentally” did something wrong? If someone in my house installs a bot program and I later play my character while the bot program is running, not knowing it’s running, would this be accidental? If I find that I can access a locked chest just by sitting on it and I do this repeatedly because the chest keeps respawning, and I don’t know that I’m doing something wrong, is that accidental?
I’d bet that at least 95% of the people who are suspended know exactly why they were suspended. Well, this is assuming they only did one thing that was considered an infraction. If someone bots and exploits and uses slurs in chat and curses in chat, they might not know which of those things earned them a suspension, but I’d consider that an extreme case.
I love these threads because it reminds me ArenaNet isn’t letting people get away with the things they get away with in other games. I suggest using these 3 days to find different ways of responding to people who annoy you (it’s best not to respond at all), because if I’m not mistaken the next suspensions will be 7 days.
ArenaNet doesn’t play around when it comes to stuff like this, fortunately.
There are people who use bot programs to automate their characters. I’m not saying the op did… I don’t know anything about his situation. But if people who DO use such tools are told that they were caught using tool X or tool Y, they’ll either switch to other tools or will modify their scripts.
Or if people are told they were caught accepting gold from a known RMT account and were flagged initially due to the sum or number of transactions, they’ll transfer in smaller amounts or fewer transactions.
I’d rather ArenaNet not give away that info.
I hope people (like me) aren’t going to get banned for jumping out of Rata Sum and landing in certain areas that cause us “to fall out of the intended boundaries of the” city. It was an innocent action and there was nothing to exploit!
I’m hoping other areas like Rata Sum won’t fall into the same category.
I was thinking more like a multiplayer game where you can control who you play with/against, sort of like a co-op game where there are several players. Left 4 Dead 2 is one such game, but I’m sure there are many more. Chat is restricted to those in the game instance, and some of those games will likely have voice chat that is limited to the participants. People can say what they want without any penalties, if the right game is chosen, aside from possibly annoying the other players who can hear/see the chat.
I don’t know how she does it, but it’s nice that she’s so active here. What I do know is that if I had her job I’d be needing a lot of therapy. lol
