It does not destroy the game. It however will give bad impression from others who are new to the game and will realize they are being ripped off.

They are not going to reduce the supply. They will just make it that light armor classes gets more than heavy and medium classes.
Meaning if heavy gets 50 per hour, med gets 50 per hour, light gets 50 per hour
The change will make it so that heavy gets 40 , med gets 40, light gets 70 per hour.
Dont quote me on the exact numbers because i myself do not know the percentages.
However it is 100% clearly stated that light armors will now get more light armor scraps and the other 2 classes will get less.

EDIT: You can’t farm in PvE. There’s no way to make tons of legit gold off of stuff in PvE without cheating or exploits. The megaservers have made it really hard to farm monsters because there are so many people killing monsters for mats (esp. in Orr). If I’m lucky, I’ll end up on a map that has a few mobs to kill. Even with a high magic find and farming those few mobs, monsters don’t always drop salvagable stuff. Alot of times, the monsters will drop junk these days (mangled talons, goop, etc). The only exception to this rule has been Dry Top.
The only place where anyone can get tons of armor to salvage for silk, ectos, and high level stuff is in WvW. My magic find is 115%. I get tons of greens, blues, and yellows. That’s just from playing the game with a medium-sized guild group that is willing to fight battles. If you kill enemy players, you get armor. It’s that simple. The only catch is that one has to be a skilled, high powered player to get bags of loot.

Zerg train in cursed shore you can make 30gold per hour by selling loots and salvaging weapons and armors you get from events.
Champ train in fgs gets you a lot of champion bags and once again salvage it for materials you can sell on tp.
Train in dry top is also the same.
Are you even playing gw2? All you have to do is tag the mob and you get loots. Each and everyone of you who tags the mob gets loots.
A lot of people farm via pve. You might mistook this game for another game.
Not only medium armor users. Medium and heavy armor users are gimping themselves if they choose to play the class they like.

The point is, that this game is in no danger of failing. That’s what was said about mega servers, ascended gear, trait change, and making dungeons once per day. But the game continues to thrive, and these changes geared toward new players shows that there has been an increase of new players, enough to make a whole feature pack catering to them.

Prices in market will adjust due to supply and demand. If your premise is that players will shift to light profs to farm, they will do the same when other mats are in demand. Market achieves an equilibrium; crisis averted. Nothing to see here.

Lightarmors only uses scraps and minimal leather. They will never increase the demand of ores and leather.

Now that they are boosting its drop rate for light armor users, heavy and medium will suffer.

Hmmm let me try to explain this as simple as possible so you can understand.
Gimping med and heavy armors from farming silk scraps = lesser supply of scraps
Buffing light armor classes = additional supply of scraps
Conclusion: still the same supplied scraps only that this time, lighr armor users gets the profit and is not distributed among the 3.
More people will roll light armor classes = more demand of scraps (light armors takes the most scraps per craft in case you dont know.)
More people using light armor classes = more supply of scraps
So it seems that this will only even out again because while more people get scraps, more people also need scraps for their light armors.

There are still people who do not care about efficiency of their farming and still use heavy and med armor classes and they also need scraps for their armor = additional demand.

It is pretty common sense that if youre given a choice between farming with a heavy or med armor that gives less light armor meaning less profit and using light armor classes which will get you more gold per hour, everyone in their right mind will choose the 2nd option.

Get 250 mystic kits and it can last up to a week. Its really easy to get and very cheap. Also takes 1 bag slot.
Silver fed o matic? 5 times more expensive to use than mystic and also takes 1 slot.
I doubt you will stay in the map you are farming for more than 1 week without going back to lions arch to mystic forge or do other stuffs which can make you restock on those msvs.
Convenience wise it does not add that much for something that cost 5times more.

Even if they buff our droprate it still doesnt change the fact that light armors still gets the better drop.
What happened to play the class you want without gimping yourself out? If this happens, med and heavy armor will be having a harder time earning than light armor.
It may not be noticeable but still, light armors getting more light armors is still a clear advantage over using medium who gets more medium armor.
Regardless of how big or how small the difference is, it still doesnt change the fact that one class has a clear advantage over the other.
Lets say they buffed it by 1%
Lets say yoy get 100 armors per hour
heavy gets an additional heavy armor out of 100
Med gets an additional medium armor
Light gets an additional light armor
Light armor classes gets 1 light armor / hour more than the other two. If you farm for 8hours that is 8 light armors
And that is the best case scenario. I dont think they will just buff it by 1% because no point in calling it smart loot. Probably higher chance making it worse.

The purpose of this is to givr awareness to anet.
The implementation will surely destroy the current pve experience because people will now be forced to roll light armor classes to maximize their profit. Sure they can still use their pathetic medium and heavy armor. But it doesnt change the fact that it is wiser to use light armor because of its clear advantage on getting more gold / hour.
Noticeable or not still doesnt change the fact that it is announced that light armor classes will get more light armors than the other two.
If this changes only affectd 1-79 then it is still a disadvantage. Those people who will level from 1-79 as a medium armor or heavy armor is going to be poorer than those light armor classes. What will happen next? Nobody will make heavy or med anymore because light armor is the best profit generating class.

Yes people farm t5 and t6 mats for money. But gears can also contribute to what people are gaining gold from.
If given a choice, farm t5 and t6 mats with heavy / med armor and get crappy armors on the side or farm t5 and t6 mats with a light armor user and get light armors on the side as an additional profit, almost everyone in their right mind will choose the 2nd option.
Why waste your time farming with heavy / med armor wherein you can clearly get more gold when you use light armor classes.

Im just frustrated at anet thinking they could get away with posting an item in gemstore which clearly isnt giving anyone a benefit and rather tricking them to waste more of their hard earned gold.

I thought the whole point of getting rid of magic find gear was to get rid of the need to choose play style/performance over loot generation. This brings that back in a far worse way.
Even if I had all 8 classes geared up (i don’t) I prefer to play medium classes, not light classes. Playing ranger has enough stigma and annoyance attached to it without knowing I’m also lessening my earning power.

Stupid idea anet. Open your eyes. Try playing the game first before implementing useless changes. Use your resources on addressing the main issues of the game rather than spending it on something useless or even harmful to the game like this system.
Smart looting will destroy heavy and medium armors. The hard to get linen and cotton scraps will only get stupidly harder to obtain because of this crap system.
If this gets implemented. You will only see necros memsers and elementalist running around in game on low level, mid level and high level areas. Its not that hard to see if you are playing your own game.
How do i know you are not playing your own game? Simple. Based on the previous patches, youve been making useless changes to the game rather than addressing the issue itself.

Even though more will be able to farm it, more necros and elems means more demands in silk linen cotton etc so prices will barely go down. Plus no matter what class you are, everyone needs to make bolt of damask to create an ascended armor. So by using this smart loot system knowing people wants to get the most out of their farming, they will roll light armor classes which will further boost the demand of light armor crafting mats.
Im not against it on low level since we really need the gears. But implementing it on level 80 people is just not right. Level 80 people needs to farm and needs variety of loots. Restricting us to loots which only our class can wear will greatly reduce our income.
I wish anet isnt too lazy and implement the smart loot code to those leveling players and maintain the current looting system once level 80 is reached

Im not sure if anet devs are playing the game or not but if they do, they shouldve notice how crappy medium and heavy armors are compared to light armors.
If this gets implemented, nobody will run medium armor and heavy armor classes anymore because compared to how much you can earn from salvaging light armors, the two are super cheap.

I hope you play the game once in a while before trying to implement some changes. Last thing we want from this game is to lose class variety.
Warriors are currently non existent in cursed shore farming due to them suck at tagging mobs. By implementing this system, cursed shore will be full of necros and elems since salvaging light armors gives you silk scraps which you can sell for 2silvers each. Nobody will farm using heavy and medium anymore once this smart loot gets implemented.
Think twice anet. Play the game and see firsthand before making changes to farming in game.
If you have 2 legendaries and you are already crying a river about how hard getting the 3rd one. Then it is better for you to just quit. Legendaries are supposed to be hard / tedious / requires a lot to grind / very very expensive to get.

Nope nobody gets banned from intentionally failing an event for the purpose of farming. I never knew anyone get banned from it.
However, if the issue escalates to the point that people are harassing those who tries to complete it, they make changes just like what happened to blix. They increased the spawn timer by a lot
Players these days are spoiled kids with rich parents, they can never be contented with what the game offers. In every mmo people complain all the time about having lack of content.
Frost wasp has the best effect. The animation looks slow but the gathering rate is the same as the normal axe i have all three axes and they have the same rate of gathering (for wasp you dont have to wait for the wasp to go down after you get everything you can leave right away)

Ive observed that when i farm 25stacks with my land weapon and did some underwater fighting, the stacks resets back to 0, meaning once i get out of the water, i have to farm 25stacks again.
I was wondering if i can bypass this by getting an underwater weapon with sigil of bloodlust in it
Yea im doing that but things die too fast before you tab attack everything.
Longbow’s projectile is slow and sometimes the group of mobs are dead before it reaches the ground.
I suppose i can go back to frostgorge but i only get 10gold per hour there ;/

With a full set of exotic without runs and sigils you have access to almost everything the game has to offer. You can do dungeons, explore and do events.
The things you need to grind for are all optional. You grind it for looks, for achievement and for a sense of accomplishment.
By your statements im guessing you dont know what i mean by “a sense of accomplishment” since all you do is whine and cry. It is a feeling you get once you reached your goal by exerting effort towards it.
Anet already hands almlst all their content to all the players without hard work. Go to 80, get exotics and youre done.
You want legendaries and ascended stuffs handed to you by the time your 80? Youre funny kid. If anet does that, they will lose majority of their players. Most people in game are staying because they want to reach a certain goal. Majority of the gamers are like that.
Only a minority are lazy people who wants to get everything on the get go. Better play a private server or something if you want it easy.
For your suggestion of anet to keep on releasing new content on a weekly basis, then thet will run out of ideas quickly and will not avoid making similar content and once again will become a grind for you.

I mostly play ranger and the two farming places ive always been going to are frostgorge and cursed shore.
Cursed shore gives me the mkst gold/hour but when i try going there as a warrior. I cant tag as well as my ranger.
Forstgorge my warrior is fine but the gold/hour there is low.
How do you tag mobs in cs? Tried rifle with fire sigil and bow with fire sigil
Also tried dual axes but mobs die before i get to them
It’s up to the player’s choice if they buy legendaries using their money or they make it by grinding.
I for one am on my way to make two legendaries, i only need the precursors so kitten hard to get, the rest i farmed on my own, well not everything, some i bought from tp from selling stuffs i get from farming but dont really need for my legendary.
Either way, both methods requires effort. I did not say it’s challenging, all im saying is that it requires effort, first using credit card, you need to make an effort on being succesful in real life so you have extra money to spend in game, then if you decide the 2nd way which is to farm for them, like you’ve said, very time consuming and requires alot of grinding.
If, Anet suddenly decides to cater the minority who wants everything handed down to them once they reach 80, a lot of people will get bored fast. If you do a survey, majority of the players are staying in this game because they have a certain goal. It is to make a full ascended armor set, or to make a legendary. It is their motivation to play it is what drives them to stay.
Like others have said, you don’t need ascended nor legendaries to every aspects of the game with the exemption of high level fractals. Exotics are fine. I am using full exotics and i get by events and dungeons just fine.
If you compare gw2 to other MMO’s this is by far the best and least grindy mmo. In WoW, for example, once you reach max level, you have to grind dungeons to get your gear level up and be able to grind public raids, then you need to grind public raids to get to FLEX raids then grind again for you to be able to do normal. Not to mention the time consuming legendary cloak quest. In FFXIV, same, you need to grind dungeons to get your gears for coil.
So comparing GW2 to these games, in gw2 once you reach 80, all you have to do is explore and farm a few events / champs and you can get your full exotic gears in about 2-3hours once that is done, you have access to everything gw2 has to offer except for fractals.
Legendaries and other items are all optional. Like youve said, legendaries have the same stats as their ascended counterparts.
Legendary is a status symbol for this game. It is not a requirement. The time it takes to complete one is very long which makes it more rewarding. The amount of real money you need to spend on gems to convert it to gold to buy one is also not to be taken lightly. So either way, people who have them should feel rewarded by wielding them. So giving access to all these good looking weapons to everyone is a big NO!
