pve is not meant to be played as a fun thing, it’s a gold farm tool, everybody is bored from day 1

that might be the case for you . but there are thos of us who enjoy and love pve for what it is and are not bored with it at all . unlike you seam to think or try to point out. not only that to some of us it is not a gold thing as well too. and i have not been bored with this since or after day one at all . and i hope they add more pve to this game with hot coming out too !!!!

Considering the number of these threads that are popping up, I just have to ask…. wtf happened to “reading comprehension”? Just ugh. Schools everywhere are obviously failing.

Considering the number of thos who can not get the idea or concept of these said posts . should maybe stop complaining and crying about them . and get gw1 and see what fun you are missing. but we already know that answer to that question . so maybe you should get GW1 and see what a real mmo is like what guild wars is all really about .

It’s also worth pointing out that
1) it’s events to commemorate the launch of Guild Wars 2 (something we don’t have)
2) it’s an annual holiday event for this (something we don’t have)
3) it has mobs dropping tokens to buy event rewards (something we don’t have)
4) it’s in a game that the devs have essentially abandoned yet they were able to set up this holiday and it’s rewards to celebrate a completely different game, Guild Wars 2. It’s not even in the game that the event is celebrating.

I can tell you however one thing that Guild Wars 2 has that Guild Wars 1 does not. The option to buy stuff (and only buy stuff) on what should be a major festival in game.

Well, color me excited and impressed. /s

3: Mob drops that are not specific for this event, but rather just a collection of drops from already existing events.
4: A holiday that contains very few new things. And thus wouldn’t really require much work at all.

It is of course also worth pointing out that it is almost a week until the actual anniversary and there is one regular patch-day before that and another potential one just a few days after.

We also know that there will be multiple announcements during the weekend of the Anniversary. Sure, they will most likely not be playable at that time, but it is still something.

You are completely missing the whole point of the argument. It’s like trying to point out a forest to someone and all he can see is the trees in front of him.

It’s not important that that event is small and the drops generic. What is important that Guild Wars 1 has a holiday and events and fun drops and special PvP and fireworks and decorated towns to celebrate the anniversary of Guild Wars 1 and all we get is stuff to buy for our anniversary.

It is of course also worth pointing out that it is almost a week until the actual anniversary and there is one regular patch-day before that and another potential one just a few days after.

I don’t share your optimism at all. There was no holiday for the first anniversary. There was no holiday for the second anniversary. The odds of having a holiday made up brand new, when they are so busy working on the expansion they haven’t hardly given us any new content since January is vanishly small.

40+ very well said oh what i would only give to have events like we did in GW1 . and even tho we try hard to point out the forest to someone and all he can see is the trees in front of him. tells me they should maybe get GW1 and just see what real mmo is like and see how much more fun it is . but that is like asking for Dawn to be given to every player for free . and we both know that ant going to happen sadly to say

I don’t even know what to say about this. Guild Wars 1 gets events and prizes. We get to buy stuff.

It is of course worth pointing out that it is an old event that they just put back on every year, and it contain very little actual content. It is mainly just: Go visit all these old places in the game and get some stuff for it.

It’s also worth pointing out that
1) it’s events to commemorate the launch of Guild Wars 2 (something we don’t have)
2) it’s an annual holiday event for this (something we don’t have)

10+ for truth and right on point as well as i agree with you fully GW2 has got noting sadly to say like GW1 does . you would have thought they would have held to the core of GW1 for GW2 more then they did . and buying stuff is not that fun at all . i will take the drops any old day of the week !!!:)

Why would they discount a returning item that was previously unavailable to purchase in the store? Surely making the item available again would be considered a “sale” on its own?

I would only expect there to be discounts on items that are already currently available to purchase. This is how ArenaNet’s anniversary sales have worked in the past, and it is how they will work for the present and future.

Regardless. The phrase, “check in every day for big discounts” strongly suggests that there will be big discounts, every day. To open up the Anniversary sale with no discounts at all is making that phrase look like click bait.

Only if you choose to stop reading at the comma.

Check in every day for 21 days for

  • big discounts
  • returning old favorites
  • exciting new items!

And since I believe this sale is additive and not one day only, by the time we get to the last day, all three of those categories will be well represented.

Yeah. No doubt.

What I wouldn’t give though for a Guild Wars 1 style real anniversary rather than the “let’s sell you more stuff” anniversaries they have in this game. :/

/sigh.

so very well said and so very true . and not only that but to have the drops like they used to have in gw1. now that would make this game the real bomb

The birthday cupcakes. The victory tokens that dropped from mobs and you could use them to buy holiday items. The special events. The unique mini pet you could get each year during the New Years celebration that didn’t have soul crushing RNG attached. The decorated towns. Fireworks. And more. Much more.

ANet. ANet. How far you have fallen.

Check in every day for 21 days for

flesh so very well said and so true and the things you got from them was the best . The unique mini pet you could get each year during the New Years celebration was the best as well as the fire works with the towns nicely decorated and with out all that soul crushing RNG attached. at all sigh yes

far as the sales stuff goes iam just going to hold my gold for crafting and some for hot if i like it :P

That’s what I mean, there’s nothing left for people to do in the game except farm. They killed Living Story…who knows when the expansion will be release. The only new content is the gem store, at least we got that.

if your not finding fun in the game then maybe it,s time to try it a different way . or maybe look at it a different way . and try to keep it simple and easy as i find doing that and going from one map to another one from different ends of the game . makes it fun far as farming goes i just see it as free gold and mat,s that i might need . and there is still lots to do and see in this game. just got to take your time and go by your self . and enjoy the music too . and with Anet i think the game will be put out this year. but i will say it would be nice if they put it out on disk . in case ones comp goes bad or something like that needing a disk . but know that will not happen any more. and the Living Story. i think will be back after the pack comes out. far as the gem store, goes that is noting new there worth getting. till maybe when hot comes out then there might be something new in the store . other wise same old same old . at lest the game is still fun and lot,s to see and do if you do not think to hard LOL

What's the most exciting thing ingame?

Anybody else getting bored of open world PvE now?

I try to continue to do the meta events, but most of them are just AA fest,,, with a few good meta events, but with long cooldowns, and require team coordination and population, which some reason the game still doesnt have a good server merge feature yet, even with Megaservers.

I cant wait to play HoT again. To get new places to play in, with new meta events that will be different and harder on a low population maps in a balanced way. Also gliding was lots of fun.

But I really want something different for world PvE. Elite Specs should add to the fun element in PvE. Plan to play classes I dont normally play, using their elite specs.

but the PvE content itself, Improve overall from the vanilla world PvE.

Think I may do some PvP or something. WvW is also dead on my server.

when it comes to PvE i love it and like it . but i will admit with this new pack they bring more PvE open content to the game . and as well to the core part of the game. always fun going over every inch of the maps more then once . and i hope they also add some new music to pve as well too

Last time they had Colin and Mike making an announcement at a convention and made a big deal of it like this they were announcing the expansion. My guess is they’ll be announcing the release date and probably the ‘challenging group content’.

When I see the word announcement, I think of things that we don’t already know about (another words, not specializations).

I’m curious what everyone thinks these announcements will be?

GW2 will now become Pay to Play! Prepare to wonder and marvel at the infinite possibilities that a monthly fee will add to the world of Tyria!

Honestly, though, are you really going to get hyped? Even if ArenaNet weren’t famous for overpromising and underdelivering, that’s obviously marketing speech. Whatever those “big announcements” are, if you really expect anything good at all you will be massively disappointed.

very well said and not only that but i think GW2 will now become Pay to Play! just look how the gem store is . if that ant pay to play i will buy a Daniel Webster cigar and give ever one a free good cigar

Pay-to-play is meant a lot more literally than that. It actually refers to subscription games where you have to pay a fixed amount per month simply to log in to the game, and you don’t get anything in return for it except access to the game you’ve already bought.

When GW2 starts telling you to buy $10 of gems a month simply to get past the launcher, and then those gems are removed from your account when you log in so you can’t spend them on items , then the gem store will be pay-to-play.

interesting as this is, it’s kinds gone off track a little, maybe make a separate thread?

we can get right back on track too. like this . what ever they got to say on this. i do hope they talk about a few new fixes and updates or something like that. and say they was only teasing about the challenging group content

The gem store has nothing pay to play about it. Pay for convenience most definitely. The game will never go pay to play. Its a selling point of the game to be free to play. If that changes, then everyone who’s bough the game before that change should never have to pay to play. But as I said it would never happen, false advertising is a big deal. They would lose millions as players take them to cort demanding a refund of every penny they ever spent on the game. It would kill the game.in a heartbeat.

true on them point,s but yet if you want to get the bl salvage kit and the mystic stones to make the 250 salvage kit,s . that costs gold and gems, both . needless to say if you got to farm that stuff instead of using real world money . to make thing,s work it takes time then . now if they was to change it and just come out with 250 salvage kit,s and say charge 15silver for them . they would be loosing out on the buying of gems, and gold and so forth and so on .

You don’t necessarily have to buy them, they can come from your Log-in reward, though it’s rare, it is possible on the day you get the Black Lion drop, at least for the BL Salvage kits, the Mystic Stones, well, I’ll let you think about that for a minute…

gem store is also a straight up “buy gold with your real money” as well with the gem conversion..

the gemstore itself doesn’t have anything pay2win… but it does have the ability for you to simple buy gold which means you can buy whatever you want from TP…even legendaries..

yes this is true but i do not spend real world cash for these items . when i can make the gold and use that instead .

Pay to Play – or subscription – is when you need to, you know, continuously pay to be able play the game.

In no way do you need to buy something from the store every month to be able to play the game.

oh really then what about black lion salvage kit,s and mystic stones to make the 250 salvage kit,s then humm

Because if you don’t have them, you can’t play the game at all?

No, them items are convenience items. They’re not items that you are required to have in order to play the game.

yes you can do that with out getting them but then you end up wasting space for 3 or more kit,s to make a good run . worth it and if your just getting going in this game . it does make thing,s not so easy .

That’s the definition of a convenience item.

gosh i did not know that thanks for that information . i will add it to my many notes so i know now not what more to buy of said items with my gold . gosh thanks for that information .

I never played GW1 so no idea what you’re talking about but haven’t they started using something like this in LS:S2 and in the Silverwastes? The Facets need certain buffs/debuffs to damage them, The Shadow Dragon needs the ring of fire (and the little shadow critters need the fire buff to damage them) and in Silverwastes the Thrasher boss at Vinewrath gives you the purple cloud buff to do more damage.

well maybe you should and see all the fun your missing out on . heck i would even help you with it and get you used to it . then you could see what iam getting at fully. and far as ls:s2 and silver wastes goes , they could do the same thing there too if they tried it. but knowing better . that will not happen let,s say .

I am talking about not the only direct attack, but a different ways of how it could be done. I remember one mission in GW1 in Vabbi, there we must use Light of Seborhin. It is something like that. When we know that everything could be done by only the direct attack, it makes all less interesting.

very well said and true . shame every one is scared and just wants to get into a Conner like a little child . when it is more fun to get out and just kill the bosses head on and move around a bit

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/the-brand-new-fractals-of-the-mists-legendary-backpacks-ascended-salvaging-and-more/

At the end of every fractal, you’ll find a … fractal encryption …[that might drop] new ascended aquatic-breather recipes.

I’d like ANet to reconsider this idea and replace the idea of breathers as gear with making them a skin-only component.

  • Aquatic Breathers have never been needed to, you know, aquatically breathe (at least, never in the live game).
  • For 3 years, fighting under water has meant reduced stats and has required buying a seventh rune for every armor set.
  • For most of these 3 years, breathers were limited to sub-L80 masterwork, karma items: no rares (never mind exotics) and completely uncraftable or unsalvageable at top levels. Even now, the supply of better-than-green rarity is extremely limited.

Thus, in a meaningful sense, we’ve never really had true underwater headgear; all we’ve had is a placeholder marginally better than no gear at all (and arguably worse than nothing at times).

Accordingly, instead of adding recipes into the game to create the gear, how about if we simplify gearing up by removing this seventh, orphaned child of armor and replacing it with a skin.

  • ANet can sell breather skins on the gem shop.
  • There could still be “ascended” recipes for breathers with special effects.

tl;dr don’t introduce new breathers into the game; simplify the system and replace them with wardrobe-only skins that display while underwater.

another bad idea and worst thing for the game as well as the game does not need more useless skin,s . better off with fixing the game and trying to save it while they still got the chance

what are you going to do tho then if they do add a second Profession with specializations. and what your not seeing alone with all the other people in this game . is this you nor any one elese including me has got one good full clue at all what Anet will really do . untill they are ready to do it. like they could even put cheese cake in this game and force you to kill it. and then cut it open for your prize . if you killed it right

Thanks, I’ll change my passwords as well as try to get someone to look at our internet, and right before the person comes then I’ll try to experiment with the settings myself ^-^ Also, Ive made an list of my accounts and their deets (like their passwords and usernames) throughout my life, and this list is on my iPad and on my galaxy s6, what are the chances that they would randomly be hacked and someone know to look at that specific file its stored in?

by chance did it offer you a free mini dragon as well too ??

The bloody forum moderators merged the threads, like I said in my thread, I already signed up and got that dragon.

yeah they did the same thing to me as well with my topic too. and i just got it done and got the new free mini . i will say its legit and free iam there !!

Where are the good old days with content?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ham.8209

ham.8209

Some players can remember the time when months ago there was new content every 2 weeks. There were many things to do, new adventures to go into, new content to explore and taste. Now, since January 13-th (Point of no Return) there is no new content. Everything is done, complete, achieved, for 7 months.

In Black Lion Trading Company there used to be many offers and many new items, but for the past 2 months players can only buy everything on full price with the gems acquired from Heart of Thorns Ultimate pre-purchase offer.

Something tells me things will be like this till expansion. In my opinion (not that it matters) all teams are excited and working for expansion release, while players must do the same thing over and over again for a long period of time, while waiting for that great expansion to come; and when expansion hits players are very hungry, so expansion gets consumed very fast. I strongly hope my assumptions are wrong.

So the question remains: what happened with the good old days with new content, new items, and new offers in Black Lion Trading Company, every 2 weeks?

PS: Forgive me if I am sad, I am not crying, I tried to remain positive, I am simply nostalgic.

very well said and not only that but things got fixed . and it has been some time since any thing has gotten fixed in this game . like the HOM sound fixes and so forth . it seams like now a days every time they put a new patch out it breaks something as well . it just be nice if they fixed the game problems now with maybe some small content amount. or at lest fix the game

Hello Robert,

Because of the last patch, many changes were made on the game like the karma boosters. To answer your query directly, the Customer Support Team cannot circumvent intended design from our developers. We cannot exchange the items for Karma boosters, as these were removed from the game and from being able to be used by other items

Thank you for understand.

At this point, I am very close to calling Arena-net HQ because I am absolute furious. 500+ dollars on these boosters, I had so many that 2:1 was actually WORTH it… and now I cannot get them back. So angry.

i do feel for you and your lost $500.00 . this is just why i use game cash only and at best i only spent $20.00 real world cash just to get harvesting tools . other wise i only used game cash . and thanks for the info on this post i think this was missed by a lot of people easy

Personal Housing

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ham.8209

i see no need for this in the game at all. and to me it would be no more different then going to a town . only difference is the town would be empty besides we got something i think it is called home instance . and if any thing it be nice to see more add there then this #justsaying

Housing wouldn’t be inside cities only. It could be in the explorable zones. In there, I could make crafting stations there.

pass much rather have good high end drop,s in pve instead or even a few need fixes instead of housing

Dumb reason not to have personal housing.

oh well too bad . there is just not one reason at all . for personal housing home instance and towns take care of it well. just another thing this game can do with out

You want a reason? Fine, how about another way for Anet to make cash off those of us who are willing to spend it for new skins or items that we could use in our houses. BANG, there’s a reason, maybe not for you but for Anet and funny enough I think it’s them who makes these decisions and not you. :P

In fact they have said in the past that they would like to bring them into the game. However I am sure they said at the time when it is the right time (when other priority’s were taken care of) and when they have figured out a good way to do them. Unlike other game makers they like to put things into their game that actually work well and bring something new or cool to the game and not just put something in for the sake of it.

A good example of this at beta was the crafting system. The system over the one in gw1 was a vast improvement and dare I say even better than how a lot of other games do it – great big grind/time sinks.

nope do not need a reason at all for any thing on this . and far as skins goes they are just a waste of time at best . any one who spends money on skins sure does not know what they are doing. besides making a new armor set . with the runes one wants on that set is far more better then any skin . at lest the armor has a use unlike skin,s which is noting more then a vanity deal . guild wars one did NOT have a crafting system like gw2 at all . also at lest in gw1 you did not have to deal with the skin problem at all like you all do in gw2 and like i said that is noting more then a vanity problem

Different strokes for different folks. We will have to agree to disagree. Besides if added you can always choose to ignore them or not take part in. Simple solution really.

on that i will agree with you on . and i hope they do not add it but lets say if they did do it. and lets say they made it like the Guild halls of gw1 . with all the npc,s and so forth ..ok then i would like it maybe even more better then towns .

Time-gated Crafting

crafting should not be time-gated… what happen to “play the game the way i want” ?

very well said and they have forgotten the idea of what happen to “play the game the way i want”

its called marketing
same as “the best xy you ever seen”

oh gosh is that what that is called. omg wow thanks for that info . i really need it so i can live . and as far as marketing they need to go back to the drawing board and look at some of the old marketing. and maybe they will come up with something good again . unlike now there marketing is about like paint drying on a wall

man , you throw “play the game the way you want” in the air , it wasnt me

hahaha good one and that is how it should be and i knew that . and hope you do the same

Can we please get a dev response about karma

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ham.8209

ham.8209

Karma functionality has been removed from enchanted reward boosts, which could (and can) be created from karma boosts, albeit at a 50% loss (the only boost of which this is true)

For me, this made it wasteful to convert karma to enchanted; it’s just one extra inv slot, and i was still able to condense the other however many boosters, and i would have thought that anyone who valued karma boosts would likewise have left them alone. apparently this is not the case.

A lot of people have made it very clear, with differing intensities of emphasis, that they are upset that they can no longer choose karma from their enchanted reward boosts, and that they feel cheated. As i understand it, this was not advertised in the patch notes, and outside of support ticket responses, no official position has been offered.

So, here, if you will: Can a developer, or our lovely community manager, give the community some word on this change:
Bug or Feature? If the former, when can we expect a fix, and if the latter, what is the reason behind it?

that is like asking for the game to be fixed and no more bug,s at all think we got a far better chance of getting free gold just running around then this happening .

The Audio team is investigating. In the meantime, see if moving the audio quality slider to Fastest helps.

F11 > Sound Options > Sound Quality: Fastest

does not help a bit at all . and for me its been a mix bag of some of the npc,s talking but no voice or my toon talking and no voice at all. and it happened the same time the last patch was put out . be nice to have this fixed soon

Suggestion: Solving the DC problem

how about instead of fishing for patchwork fixes, they just fix the core problem? Hundreds, if not more, reports and logs have been submitted on this. Many of them have matching errors and information. Surely with all that information something can be done to fix this problem after 3 years???

yeah really one would think after that long it would have been done by now !!! at best we can only hope it will happen

make open world pvp between races

each race starts from their homecity and fights for control over territories. races get bonuses for territories controlled.

introduce a criminal system. killing people who ain’t pvp-willing in open world gets you criminal points. to many of such points throws you in jail. you can break out of jail and there will be bountys placed on you which people can take up and get rewards.

in a nutshell, something like helbreath.

No just No.
Stop destroying GW2

THIS would be the worst thing they could add!

Especially criminal system and killing all people

go back to WOW and such other games and leave GW2 alive pls

very well said and i agree with you fully . this is what this game needs at all !!!! and this is one of the most worst things ever they could put into this game !!!!!!!!

Minis in Combat

it would be more nicer if the Minis was keep in towns only . and not let out side of towns ever again .

Turning your own mini off is too difficult for you? Gotta punish everyone just so you can stealth?

nope not a problem at all for me as i keep all 5 of mine that i got all off in the first place. and do not know what your talking about far as stealth goes. but with mini,s in towns only it makes the game a bit less of a lag fest

That would cause more player outrage than the current situation of minis revealing stealthed players. It is not fair to limit the possibilities of one game mechanic when the issue they were hoping to solve could be avoided in the first place.

good then maybe there would be there is some hope after all . if they keep the mini,s in towns it will only get more better . and the players can cry all they like about it . honestly all minis are just something that is not of much use and makes things worse .
keep the mini,s in towns only !!!!
